Local Officials: Foreign Fighters Operating in Laghman

[ToloNews] Local officials confirmed to TOLOnews the presence of imported muscle and their families in two districts of the eastern province of Laghman
...Afghan province with a population of about 445,600, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a rural society. During the invasions of Alexander the Great, the area was known as Lampaka, wich is apparently Olde Macedonian for Laghman .The city of Mihtarlam serves as the bucolic capital of the province. The population is half Pashtun, the remainder Tadjik and Pashai. It had a repution for great wealth until it was conquered in the tenth century by Abu Mansur Sabuktigin. He conquered it and set fire to the places in its vicinity which were inhabited by infidels, and demolishing the idol-temples, he established Islam in them, He marched and captured other cities and killed the polluted wretches, destroying the idolatrous and gratifying the Musulmans. After wounding and killing beyond all measure, his hands and those of his friends became cold in counting the value of the plundered property. After that it was mostly notable for the production of dirt, rocks, and holy men...
Laghman governor Rahmatullah Yarmal said that the fighters and their families are living in Alishang and Dawlat Abad districts in the province and that they are providing military training to the Taliban

"The information we gathered shows that most of them are in Alishang and Dawlat Abad districts and in some valleys, providing training. They are from different countries and their financer is evident to everyone and there is no doubt of it," the governor said.

"Yes, it is true. They are in Alingar and Dawlat Shah districts. They are foreign nationals and are providing training," Laghman Police Chief Asadullah Fedaee said.
The Taliban has rejected the presence of imported muscle among their ranks, saying they do not need imported muscle.

residents of the two districts said that families of at least 200 imported muscle are living in the two districts.
Two hundred fighters, on average one wife apiece is another 200, 3 kids per wife makes about 1,000 altogether... Mohammad Sediq Haqqani, a tribal elder in Alishang district, said that imported muscle are living in the Gori area in Alishang and the Chaklak area in Dawlat Shah district. He said most of them are Chechens.
"This is true. These people, some of them are Chechens and others cannot speak local languages. We don’t know where are they from," Haqqani said.
Other residents of Dawlat Shah said that women with the imported muscle are roaming in the areas with weapons and sometimes they train with horses.
"They are Uzbeks... They have no activity but they are in their homes and it is not known what is their plan," said Abdul Ahad, a resident of Dawlat Shah district.
Chechens and Uzbeks? They’ve been noted elsewhere in Afghanistan, fighting with Talib and Al Qaeda units as well as enjoying the safe refuge for their families. "This is Afghanistan. It is the ground for war like a cricket ground. Anyone does anything that they want," said Salam Jan, a resident of Dawlat Shah district.
