Kabul: VP Saleh to double Kabul police, 2 vehicles kaboomed, 1 toes up


Blast Targets Govt Employees’ Bus in Kabul
[ToloNews] An explosion targeted the employees of the National Statistics and Information Authority in Guzargah area in Kabul's PD7.

Kabul police said that one civilian was killed and five others were maimed in the earth-shattering kaboom. Police said the bomb was placed on a bicycle.

It was the second explosion of the day in Kabul.

In the first explosion, a security force vehicle was hit by a magnetic IED blast in Kabul city on Monday morning, Kabul police confirmed in a statement, adding that the blast caused no casualties.

The incident occurred around 7:50 am local time in the Kolola Poshta area in PD4 of Kabul city as a magnetic IED that was placed on a security forces vehicle went kaboom!, the statement said.

"The blast has no casualties," said Ferdous Faramarz, a front man for the Kabul police, but some eyewitnesses claimed there were casualties.

Faramarz said investigations are ongoing.

No group has yet grabbed credit for either blast.

Saleh: Kabul To Double Police Force
[KhaamaPress] Amrullah Saleh First Vice President announced on Monday that the presidential palace has decided to double the number of local police in Kabul city in a bid to reduce violence, target attacks, and security incidents.

The decision is based on Target killing escalation and attempted assassinations in the capital that sparked outrage among the public.

During the 6:30 a.m. meeting, Saleh said, according to a study, Kabul has the lowest number of police in proportion to the capital’s population.

Security outposts in mountains were handed in the region is handed over to the military, Saleh added.

The decision emerged in a time when residents raised their concerns over increased magnetic IED explosions, assassinations and that they cope with such incidents in a routine manner.

Almost every single day there is an incident of targeted attacks and improvised explosive device blasts in the capital of Afghanistan, such attacking tactics also dominated other parts of the country.

Recently, Freshta Kohistani (Activist), Elyas Dayee (Reporter), Yama Siawash ( Reporter, Advisor), Rahmatullah Nikzad (Freelance reporter), Malalai Maiwand (Journalist), public figures, and some government officials were killed in shooting and IED attacks.
