Man Wanted For Homicide In US Arrested Trying To Flee To Somalia

[RADIOSHABELLE] A man wanted for criminal vehicular homicide in Minneapolis was arrested at Washington Dulles International Airport attempting to flee to Somalia.According to a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, while examining a passenger manifest for a flight to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

, CBP officers found a passenger with an arrest warrant. Said Sharif Maye, 34, of Minnesota, had a final destination of Somalia.

CBP officers confirmed with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office that the warrant was, in fact, active and the sheriff’s office desired to pursue extradition on Maye.
Officers confronted Maye at the departure gate where he confirmed his identity. Officers then arrested Maye and turned him over to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police.
"This arrest illustrates how Customs and Border Protection’s unique border security mission supports our law enforcement partners by intercepting wanted runaways allegedly fleeing prosecution and returning them to face their charges," said Casey Durst, CBP’s Director of Field Operations in Baltimore.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, Maye is the suspect in the hit-and-run death of 31-year-old Idris Yussuf
