Minneapolis city council president says fears of having someone break into a house 'comes from a place of privilege'
More on this and this from yesterday.
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Minneapolis' City Council president Lisa Bender defended the move to disband the city's police department on Monday

  • She explained George Floyd's death was a 'wake-up call' that the police 'is not keeping every member of our community safe'

  • When asked what will happen if a home is broken into, Bender explained that her worry and expectation police will help comes from a place of privilege

  • She said council is already working on community-based safety strategies and analyzing how to shift some 911 calls to crisis and mental health workers

#1 Just a wild guess, of course, but I predict some "unforeseen consequences".

The left has gone all-in on batshit crazy.

#3 Think we can build a wall around the city before they defund the police?

Perhaps arrange for drones to overfly the city and put it up on pay-per-view.

#4 If someone knows her address there is money to be made by burglarizing her home

#5 It is also a white man's privilege to vote with their feet. Please stay out of Texas though.

#6 At some point we're gonna see defense gadgets like they had in South Africa for a time. Aftermarket flamethrowers for your car, fun stuff like that to keep the bad folks away.

#7 If you are having a home invasion, I doubt that you are thinking about this white privilege bull. Most likely, you are terrified or wondering if you are going to survive. (Some might be thinking about getting to their firearm quickly.)

Lisa Bender is a nutjob who believes all the crap that has been spoon fed to her.

#8 Well this looks like setting up a hypothesis and performing experiments to test same hypothesis. In other words, we have a science project based on Bender’s hypothesis.

#9 Community based safety strategies is gonna be all the homeowners buying shotguns. Then try to elect new city council members who aren't full on bat shit crazy. But I still think the best way to stay safe in Minneapolis is to get the hell outta there.

#11 Calling them "crazy" implies that they are not accountable.

Call them "evil".

#12 'I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality where calling the police may mean more harm is done,' she added.

She's making a valid point.

That was the situation in Brussels in 1995. I was warned by the local branch of the American Women’s Club that it was a bad idea to let in the police outside of business hours. It subsequently was revealed that the child trafficking ring ran through the office of the Minister of the Interior, though they mainly dealt in the children of refugees. It was a friend of the police who kidnapped local girls and kept them in a secret dungeon behind a false wall in his basement.
