LNA Repels GNA Attack on Al-Watiya Airbase, 23 Dead
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Tuesday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) thwarted an attack by forces loyal to the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
-based Government of National Accord (GNA) to capture al-Watiya airbase in western Libya.

"The enemy was completely defeated and (LNA) our forces prevented them from advancing towards the Aqriba area," said Major Osama Amsek, the Commander of the 134th Battalion currently in charge of al-Watiya airbase in a press statement.

Misleading reports circulating on local media claimed that forces loyal to the GNA had taken control of al-Watiya airbase after an operation that began at dawn on Tuesday. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
the claims proved to be false.

Libya Review sources have confirmed that 23 GNA fighters died after festivities with the LNA.

This comes just a few hours after President Tayyip Erdogan of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
announced that forces loyal to the GNA were making significant territorial advances in western Libya.

Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory the smoke and fumes had dispersed, to reveal an ominous sight...
the number of Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrians in Libya has reached 7,850 fighters, with approximately 3,000 others currently in Turkey to receive training prior to deployment to Libya.

Last month, forces loyal to the GNA attempted to launch an attack on Tarhuna, a major stronghold for the LNA in western Libya. Despite being backed by Ottoman Turkish aircraft and heavy artillery, the attack was thwarted by the LNA.

Herewith the contrary perspective referenced above. And to me the very long Libya Limp List, above, is additionally persuasive.
GNA forces said controlling Al-Watiya airbase will be in stages
[Libya Observer] The Libyan Army forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) have carried out a large-scale attack on al-Watiya airbase, which is the last stronghold of Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...
's forces in the western region, and they are now positioned at the front gate as festivities are still ongoing.

Prior to this attack, GNA forces had been encircling the airbase since April 13, when they recaptured seven towns and cities in western Libya from Haftar's forces.

The attack started before Tuesday with heavy artillery shelling and Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s, while on Tuesday dawn, at least 500 military vehicles headed to al-Watiya airbase to drive Haftar's forces out.

A source from GNA forces said controlling al-Watiya airbase will be in stages and Tuesday had been stage number one, adding that they had destroyed military vehicles for Haftar's forces and seized others.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats Chumbaloni was staring into a hole that was just .45 inch in diameter and was less than three feet from his heavily sweating face ...
social media pages close to Libyan Army forces said about 12 fighters had been killed in Tuesday attack on al-Watiya airbase, while Haftar's forces suffered the killing of the bully boy Salafist commander of al-Watiya airbase Osama Emsaik along with his assistants Muhannad Grerah and Ayman al-Tumi as well as other fighters.
