13 Wounded In Massoud Day Shooting Spree
Idiots on parade
[ToloNews] Saturday was the 16th anniversary of Massoud's assassination and the start of the Martyrs Week – a day marked officially in the Loya Jirga tent in Kabul.
"We must have gunsex!"
However, dozens of Massoud supporters drove through the streets of Kabul for hours, in convoys, shooting indiscriminately into the air – their cars adorned with pictures of Massoud.

Angry Kabul residents said such behavior was unacceptable especially as many of these shooting incidents took place close to security check points.

Kabul garrison commander on Saturday said they had identified a number of culprits and that these people would be arrested.

The MoI said on Sunday that as a result of the shooting, 13 people, including a woman, were wounded and 12 people have been arrested in connection with the shootings.

"Thirteen civilians including a woman and a police officer have been wounded. The wounded are in stable condition, except forone person who was shot in his abdomen," interior ministry spokesperson, Najib Danish said.

One Kabul resident, Abdul Wasee, said: "They even shot along the airport road, which is used a lot by foreigners. We want the security forces, and especially the interior minister, to do something about this."

"We want government to stop such action. Such incidents only get broadcast on TV, but no action is ever taken against them," another Kabul resident, Zalgai, said.

Members of the Meshrano Jirga (Upper House of Parliament) meanwhile discussed the issue in their Sunday session. Senate members asked government to seriously investigate the incident and detain those behind the shootings. Senators also slammed government for not controlling such convoys in the city and over its inability to safeguard people's lives.

"Is this government? Is government's job silence? Government says that we maintain the provinces security, but they cannot maintain Kabul's security," Nazar Mohammad Faqiri, a senator said.

"Such moves make the people angry and concerned and must be stopped," Gulalai Akbari, another senator said.

The Interior Ministry however said those detained in connection with Saturday's shootings will be subjected to investigations in accordance with the law.

#4 So Massoud Day is when people celebrate an assassination by running around shooting each other? I guess that makes sense.

#5 There is an entire contingent of humanity that doesn’t understand that bullets shot up in the air eventually come down, landing with the same velocity as when it left the gun. And since they are not usually under the bullet when it finally lands, Darwin doesn’t get to apply his magic.

#8 Saturday was the 16th anniversary of Massoud's assassination

As an aside, Massoud Day commemorates the September 9, 2001 assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud. A law establishing the holiday on that date in the Afghan calendar was passed by the Afghan parliament in 2012. The reference to the 16th anniversary of 2001 suggeste this article dates to about Sept. 9, 2017. Tolo News is really dreadful about hiding the date of publication beyond “today” and “yesterday”, and they post a list of undated Related Stories in a sidebar next to the top story of the day. I posted a number of older stories in the same way when I was first getting used to Tolo News’ little quirks.
