Family outraged after a Universal character made 'OK' symbol on 6-year-old's shoulder
[USATODAY] Tiffiney Zinger said it was painful telling her daughter she couldn't use a family vacation photo for her second grade class project ‐ the image was marred by what appeared to be a symbol of hate.
Oh, noze! A Symbol of Hate©! Was his Hitler tee shirt sticking out or something?
The photo shows the 6-year-old girl, who is biracial and has autism, posing with an actor dressed as the movie character Gru from "Despicable Me" during a Universal Orlando breakfast event attended by the Zinger family in March. The character formed an upside-down "OK" symbol with his fingers, recognized by some as a hate symbol, on the girl's shoulder, according to a photo and video reviewed by USA TODAY.
Aaaaagh! Not an "Okay" sign? How did they stand it? They'll be in therapy for years!
A Universal Orlando Resort front man said Tuesday in response to USA TODAY inquiries about the episode that the actor had been fired. The front man, Tom Schroder, initially declined to further comment but then issued a statement: "We never want our guests to experience what this family did.
Being forced into cattle cars marked with Betsy Ross flags, overseen by four-eyed gunmen, called by the wrong pronouns, that sorta thing...
This is not acceptable and we are sorry ‐ and we are taking steps to make sure nothing like this happens again. We can’t discuss specifics about this incident, but we can confirm that the actor no longer works here. We remain in contact with the family and will work with them privately to make this right."
"We're covering the funeral costs of all the victims..."
Tiffiney Zinger, who is black, and her husband, Richard Zinger, who is white, traveled with their daughter, who is now 7,
... and mentally maimed for the rest of her life...
and her younger brother from Colorado to Orlando, where they own a home.
... and they'll soon have enough to buy another one for cash...
The Zingers were at Universal Orlando for the day to attend the character breakfast at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort, a Universal hotel, at 11 a.m. on March 23. The hotel hosts the event every Saturday.
... and then... THIS!
"We just wanted to take them to see the minions," Tiffiney Zinger said. "Do something special for our family and this person ruined that special warm feeling.
Ummm... Maybe the guy flashing the "okay" sign just did it to be Despicable?

#1 "Do something special for our family and this person ruined that special warm feeling."

I dunno. Kinda gives me a warm feeling to hear another Tale of the Easily Offended.

Maybe your daughter (is she named "Tiffiney Jr."? Or Kartiyay?) can apply and get accepted to Yale in another 10 years - perhaps there will be a a Jeralyn Luther Scholarship set waiting for her.

#6 The OK symbol can't become that fantasy KKK sign without four fingers and a thumb. If the Universal character didn't have normal hands the outraged family should be laughed out of the park and forbidden future admittance as grifters just trying for media attention and/or free passes.

#8 Disney couldn't have asked for a better PR disaster for they're failing park. Was this an Op by Disney? It's so utterly crazy I'm not sure I can believe anything else.

#9 Universal has their own park. It is near Disney World but not connected that I'm aware of.
