Last militant lines collapse in southern Idlib, civilians to be let leave
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army scored a new advance along the Hama-Idlib axis on Thursday, seizing several sites from the last jihadist rebels in the area.

According to a field report from this front, the Syrian Army began the day by capturing the hilltop of Tal Sayyed and the nearby village of Sayyed.

Following this advance, the Syrian Army would capture several other areas along the Idlib-Hama axis, including Tal Huwayz, al-Bashir Driving School, and Wadi al-Anz.

A source near the front-lines told al-Masdar News that most of the Death Eaters that once controlled this area fled north before the Syrian Arab Army closed the pocket.

He added that several Death Eaters are still in the pocket, but most are situated near the Ottoman Turkish Armed Forces at the observation post in the town of Morek.

Since the start of the week, the jihadist rebels have suffered several setbacks at the hands of the Syrian Army; this includes the loss of the strategic city of Khan Sheikhoun.

Damascus to let civilians flee rebel-held Idlib

[IsraelTimes] Damascus says it is opening a corridor for civilians to leave the rebel-held northwestern region of Idlib, where government bombardment has killed hundreds since late April.

The announcement came a day after government forces recaptured the strategic Idlib province town of Khan Sheikhun from jihadists and allied rebels.

Damascus has opened such corridors out of other rebel bastions in the past as a prelude to retaking them either by force or through negotiated surrenders.

The Idlib region, which sits on the Ottoman Turkish border, is now the last major stronghold of opposition to the Russia-backed government of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

An Nahar adds:
Wednesday's advance saw government forces cutting of a pocket of territory stretching from the south of Idlib province into neighboring Hama, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said.

"The Syrian government announces the opening of a humanitarian corridor in Souran in the northern countryside of Hama province," state news agency SANA quoted a foreign ministry source as saying Thursday.

The corridor will be used to evacuate "civilians who want to leave areas controlled by terrorists in northern Hama and the southern countryside of Idlib.
