UAE-backed forces expel Saudi-backed troops from Yemeni Presidential Palace
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i Southern Transitional Council has captured the Maashiq presidential palace in the southern port city of Aden, a military source told Sputnik.

"The Security Belt Forces, supported by loyal forces, established control over the presidential palace after four days of fighting with its guards", the source said.

He pointed out that the Saudi forces had retreated from the palace to the coalition’s military base of al Barika, west of Aden.

Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Hadrami has described the incident as a coup.

The reports come after at least 30 people were reportedly killed during festivities inside a camp of security forces of the presidential palace in Aden. The ongoing escalation of the conflict left dozens killed and injured in three days. Moreover, media outlets point to the possibility of a new front opening in Yemen’s civil war.

Earlier this week, bandidos snuffies supporting the Southern Transitional Council engaged in festivities with their former allies, pro-government forces in the city of Aden. The Yemeni conflict between the government and the Iran's Houthi sock puppets

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
movement has been ongoing since 2015.
Al Ahram adds:
Fighting between pro-government forces and separatists in Yemen's second city Aden has killed around 40 people and injured 260 others including civilians, the UN said Sunday

The clashes flared on Wednesday between fighters of the internationally-recognized Yemeni government and combatants from the Security Belt group who are dominated by separatists seeking an independent south.

#1 I'm confused, I thought the UAE and the Saudis where allies in this.

#2 Indeed. That was my first thought here too. What is going on now? Are the UAE and Saudis really stupid enough to become hostile towards each other when Iran is staring down their throats?

#4 I'm glad I wasn't the only one confused.

Is this a case of the locals only paying lip service to their notational benefactors?

Otherwise VH is absolutely correct: Saudi and UAE infighting in the face of Iranian aggression would be stupid beyond measure.

#5 I'm confused, I thought the UAE and the Saudis where allies in this.

The way the US and Britain were allies during WWII. The US wanted the British empire dissolved. Britain did not.

#6 Note also that all players in government, whether at peace or at war are members of coalitions, which is to say each component has distinct interests. As the dominant partners in these coalitions diverge from the non-negotiable interests of coalition components, the coalitions themselves may fracture. That may be what we're seeing here.
