Hundreds storm Greek train station and clash with cops at border as they try to reopen a land route to Germany in revolt fuelled by social media

Migrants have clashed with riot police in field near Diavata close to the Greece border with North Macedonia

Mothers and babies were seen running from tear gas while fires were started amid chaotic scenes today

Fuelled by social media, hundreds had gathered hoping to make their way illegally towards northern Europe

In Athens, dozens of migrants sat on train tracks with some heard shouting 'Germany' and 'open the borders'

In Turkey migrants headed toward Greek border following rumours that Ankara had opened its border gate. Turkish authorities have detained nearly 1,200 migrants, mostly Afghan, Iranian or Pakistani.
