Superintendent of Police, Sopore, Harmeet Singh, said the police reliably learnt that three youths including Liyaqat Ahmad Lone, son of Late Ghulam Mohiudin Lone, Mohmad Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat, both residents of Harwan and Tariq Ahmad Najar, son of Mohmad Sultan Najar, resident of Badrahar in Handwara are working for Hizbul Mujahideen.
He said the police also learnt that they are recruiting the youth of area in the Hizb and subsequently they were apprehended. "After interrogation we found out that they were basically recruiters. Further interrogation and investigation is going on," the SP said.
Police sources said that the trio had recently inducted a youth namely Umar Khaliq of Tujjar Sopore into Hizbul Mujahideen and were working to expand group’s base across Baramulla district. "A case under FIR number 45/2016 under Section 18B, 20 Unlawful Activities Act has been registered in Bomai cop shoppe.Further interrogation and investigation is going on," the SP Sopore added.
