The army front man Colonel Sani Usman, gave the alert and promised to furnish more information later.
"The troops have been battling the snuffies since (the) early hours of today", Usman said.
No further details were immediately available from the remote area in Kareto where the festivities occurred.
Kareto is south of Damasak and north of Gubio town and not far from the borders with Niger.
The army in recent times had intensified flushing the Boko Haram fighters out of their comfort zones and camps, seizing their ammunitions supply, food and transport.
A clearance patrol to Borgozo-Alargano general area on Sunday yielded a large cache of arms and ammunitions concealed by Boko Haram Lions of Islam in a bunker.
The patrol team also cleared remnants of Boko Haram Lions of Islam that were dislodged from Alagarno forest hibernating at Kadari, Camp Abu Fatima and Gursum.

In addition, the troops recovered 1 Toyota Hilux, 1 Generator and several cycle of violences.

fighters attacked Nigerian troops early on Monday, the army said, after two suspected jacket wallahs were rubbed out near military positions.
Army front man Sani Usman said in a brief emailed statement: "Boko Haram gunnies attack troops of 113 Battalion at Kareto, northern Borno state.
"The troops have been battling the turbans since the early hours of today."
A soldier with the regiment told AFP the troops were ordered to the town of Damasak near the border with Niger and took up position in Kareto, some 38 kilometers (24 miles) away.
"Today at about 6:30 am (0530 GMT), two suicide bombers approached us and we shot at them and they went kaboom! ," he said.
"As soon as the explosives went off, there were barrages of heavy artillery fired by Boko Haram, who came in large numbers with heavy weapons.
"We took up position in our trenches and fired back but they kept firing RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades), which we didn't have.
"We lost some men, I don't know how many, and many others were maimed. Some of us fled in disarray. We realised that we were outnumbered and outgunned."
The troops withdrew to Jeyimolo village and a fighter jet was deployed to Kareto while a search was launched for the dead and missing, he added.
A local chief confirmed the attack but said further details were still sketchy.
