Four killed as 'Boobs, allied troops battle near Bula-burde

A Somali official says four people, including militants were killed in a fierce fighting between Al shabaab fighters and SNA, along with Djibouti-an peacekeepers in Hiiraan region. Confirming the incident, Bula-burde district commissioner Abdulaziz Durow said the fighting broke out at militants-controlled Doonkadiide village, killing three Al shabaab fighters and SNA soldier.

“Our SNA soldiers and their allied AMISOM troops attacked Al shabaab base at Doonkadiide village and killed three fighters while one Govt soldier lost his life,” said Bula-burde DC.

On the other hand, Mr Durow denied the district is still under Al shabaab siege.

Bulo-burde is ~~in the middle of nowhere~~ a strategic town, linking Somalia’s Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions, and was an important base for al-Shabab for more than five years.
