Calgary Sun News: The John Kerry campaign came to Calgary yesterday to muster every possible ex-pat vote, because the issues at stake are a matter of "life and death," said the candidate's sister. Diana Kerry, was in town to encourage U.S. residents living in Calgary to vote for the Democrats in that country's coming national election. Kerry said the last national election, in which George W. Bush was elected U.S. president and which was decided by a margin of just more than 500 ballots, proved that every vote counts. And now more than ever, U.S. citizens have to make their vote count, she said. "This is probably the election of our lifetimes -- the stakes are extremely high and the direction in which we're heading is extremely worrisome," said Kerry. "The issues are so crucial, they are life and death. "We've lost our reputation within the international community, lost the goodwill of the world and destroyed a healthy economy." Arriving to cheers and a standing ovation, the former English and drama teacher met with members of the Democrats Abroad Canada at the Good Earth Cafe, 1502 11 St. S.W., and announced the launch of a new web site set up to make it easier for U.S. expatriates to cast their ballots. U.S. citizens wishing to vote can log on to www.overseasvote2004.com.
