#9 'Proportionate' to me would be to eliminate that group's ability to wage war in that region. Any captured terrorists would be summarily executed by hanging in the public square. Rinse and repeat every time US troops are attacked.

#10 Yea, well, after 3 months of screechng "proportional, proportional!" at Israel, what did you expect them to do? IMO, it's a miracle US military is allowed to respond at all.
Looking at my crystal ball: Arabs will produce an irrefutable evidence of civilian casualties (the always do, stock footage), and USG will bend backward apologizing.
