#1 Among severely wounded in Ukrainian attack on Black Sea Fleet HQ in Sevastopol — Col. Gen. Alexander Romanchuk and Lt. Gen. Oleg Tsekov, Ukrainian intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov tells @VOAnews. He confirms at least 9 dead and 16 injured among RUS military personnel.

Romanchuk is in charge of Russian forces in Zaporizhzhia where the main thrust of Ukraine’s counteroffensive is occurring. This suggests that it wasn’t just a strike on the Black Sea Fleet HQ, but timed to target key senior leaders during a meeting.

The Russian MoD says that Colonel General Alexander Romanchuk is commanding Russian forces in the Zaporizhzhia direction. Rybar suggests he played a role in the 2014 Zelenopillia rocket attack.

Lt. Gen. Oleg Tsekov is described as Romanchuk's chief of staff.
"Among the wounded is the commander of the grouping, Colonel-General Romanchuk, who is in a grave condition. Their Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Tsekov, remains unconscious. The number of affected military servicemen who are not part of the headquarters is still being verified. These are military personnel who were on duty, serving as guards, and so on – they are not included in the list that I spoke about," Budanov said.

Also: At the same time Budanov at this point cannot confirm the death of Black Sea Fleet commander Admiral Viktor Sokolov.

#2 It seems there have three missile attacks on Sevastopol beginning on September 13. The first was rated a success. The second, on September 20 was a failure as I posted yesterday. Then on September 23, yesterday, it sounds like six missiles were launched and one found its target while the other five were shot down by Russian air defense.

The Russian side allows that one soldier was killed and six more were injured in yesterday's attack while the Ukrainians claim At least nine people were killed and 16 were injured as a result of a Ukrainian missile attack on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol on Friday, September 22 including Colonel General Romanchuck.

Like I said yesterday, it's tough to find reliable information about a war in which lies and propaganda from both sides fly thicker than missiles and drones. I admit, I am not willing to go to the front to find out for myself.

In general: Russians lie 70% of the time (though not about things that can be checked i.e., they say they've blown up two Leopards, they did).
Ukrainians - think Harvard Crimzon on steroids or Palestine Chronicle meets Der Stürmer.

#4 The Russians lie about things that can be checked, too.

It was only yesterday that they were trumpeting the 'failed' attack where they intercepted all the missiles.

To be fair, the Black Fleet HQ, fuel storage facilities and several parked aircraft 'intercepted' more than a few.
