File under: Tin Hat Dictators, Presidents for Life,

#1 Stored to protect the motherland. So deeply embedded for defense against external attacks. Numbers that currently work not really known. Say one thousand in working order with parts, crew and maintenance is significant. Then add air and artillery plus electronic warfare significant. So with losses posted by western media alone say 500 that is more than the EU has in their entire countries combined. Then add EU working order numbers available for active service much lower. The war will be decided by the country having the greatest raw materials, factories and serving military. The EU after WW11 let military rot. Loss of funding. Big daddy USA was their cover.

#2 Not that I have any desire to see a war involving the USA over there, but this is inneresting: A-10 Warthog Emerges In New Camouflage.

Nice historical tribute, and a decided move away from flat desert earth paint.

They actually did pretty well (though nowhere near what they were capable of) until the Soviets collapsed, and then they decided to do two things: first, divert all that defense money to social benefits, and second import foreign workers to pay for all those benefits so the locals wouldn't have to.

One can see how those worked out.

Poland alone has ~ 1000 tanks, some of which are Leopards that are a lot better than whatever the Soviets are using.

#7 I saw a photo the other day of a captured T-62. Made me wonder if the Ukrainians could give it back?

#8 There are photos of the Ukes converting captured T-62s in armor recovery vehicles (ARV). Good use of a hull and drive train without putting it on the front line.
