That was the hypothesis of the video. Ukraine had mostly upgraded T-64s and it worked fine against them. With all the Russian stuff captured, Russia may not want their newer stuff designed against NATO tanks to be captured and sent to the west for analysis. Makes sense.

#5 Lot's of talk about Russia using an aux force + LPR and DPR Militias/National Guard in their Special Military Operation that seized 20-30% of UKR... Lots of talk that Russia was saving their core, more modern, army for a confrontation with NATO, if that were to come to be. Which would explain RUS using old ammo.

#7 Lots of talk that Russia was saving their core, more modern, army for a confrontation with NATO

Mostly by Russian mouthpieces. Russia has most of their top line combat forces in Ukraine. The First Guard Tank Army, the unit that protected Moscow and was designed to punch through NATO lines was mauled at Izium and then Lyman.

The 11th Army Corps in Kaliningrad was designated as "elite" and was supposed to attack Poland and Lithuania to close the Suwalki gap if war broke out. It was moved to Ukraine and was promptly annihilated.

155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade just got mauled as well in the south near Pavlivka.

Their air assault units were destroyed outside Kiev.

Their airborne units have been mauled in Khersan.

What do they have left besides the Moblisks we've seen be thrown into the fight with little to no training?

They might have a few line units left on the Chinese border, but I don't think Vlad trusts the PRC that much.

That reminds me of Red Storm Rising, they saved equipment for invasion of Iran or some damn place with oil, but then the Soviet invasion went bad and they had to use up those reserves.

Personally I don't think you hold back when you have the chance to crush quickly.
