The nice people who live in straitened circumstances out in the sticks have been totally brainwashed to believe gummint checks are the only source of income. #10 Steve Schiff (R) used to represent Albuquerque. Steve was probably one of the last post war representatives who were interested in representing their districts rather than getting power, money, and influence. Died of cancer. Special election followed and one of his staff Heather Wilson (R) won that and two regular elections following his passing even though the Donks tried desperately enough to play quick and lose in the election process. Wilson lost her reelection bid when she backed Bush's pre-Obama prescription plan which was seen, as it turned out, a slippery slope.
