#1 You can turn it into gold using OWG politics as a catalyst.

#2 Plant trees.

Or potatoes.

#3 Won't do much good w/o hydrogen, i.e. water.

#4 Funny Skidmark! This made me laugh!

Actually plants don't do well in a vacuum so some mechanical method is needed until there is sufficient atmosphere to sustain plant life.

In this case I suspect NASA may know what issues they're facing and already thought of using organic solutions. The problem is doing the conversion on a large scale.

Have you ever tried growing a tree in a spaceship?

The solution can be used in many other applications where access to external atmosphere to refresh the air is limited, like submarines, etc.

#5 Tunable laser set for CO2 bond and if you can get it right you could grow diamond and remove the o2.

#6 Well, I know of some greenhouse experts who are currently unemployed.

#7 I was actually thinking of a GenMod for the Mars team that would modify the ATP production cycle to breakdown and consume CO2.

But trees are good.

#8 Well IIRC a large percentage of the Earth's oxygen comes from plants that use chlorophyll to break down CO2 into oxygen and carbon. Algae is one of the top producers IIRC. Basically pond scum . If that is the case you can ship most of Washington DC to Mars, they have an overabundance of scum there.

#9 Cycle some into the habitat and let me breathe it in. I'll turn it straight into methane and we can release that back into the Martian atmosphere. Methane is a better greenhouse gas anyway!

Pay me.

#10 There you go, DV!
GenMod some gut bacteria to break the C-O2 bond and digest the carbon. Then you can gulp atmosphere and vent the O2 into containment.
Fantastic! Pay the man.

#11 I don't think I could count the number of science fiction books I've read that involved the protagonist sneaking in and out of the domed cities of Mars. The were all airtight, until the hero or the villain, depending on who wrote it, broke the glass.

Or we could use this method:

#12 Prescient movie.
Exploding robot heads, full body airport scanners, spywife Sharon Stone...prob tough to find giant ancient race air generators though.

#13 CO2

Done.

Please forward to me the address to which I should apply for my boodle.

Thank you...

#14 Vats of algae, done. But Skid wins the Kewpie on this ride.
I do love NASA turning the quest over to public compilation. Dollarwise, darn smart.

#17 Burn muzlimz in a plasma beam with CO2. You will wind up with CO2 and pure carbon but a better world all the same.

Too toxic, high bitterness and stupidity level. Better for herbicide
