#10 My dad, of a time and place and service where racism didn't bother with code words, often used Obama's phrase ("Don't monkey around with that until it dries!"). Lord knows I was listening critically (cue Silver Haired Daddy), and it never even occurred to me that it might be racist.

This "monkey it up" thing, though, struck me instantly as a bigtime clanger (or baiting... NTTNAWWT). Is it common and benign (eeek!) in y'all's experience?
