#1 A harmless, routine allergic reaction which rarely lasts more than a few minutes.

#2  jerked and gasped for air

Perhaps the gurney comfort pillows induced apnea.

#3 The state said it was a routine execution lasting about 15 minutes, but critics said something was amiss.

Well, they would.

And as far as the mutt in question:

Kenneth Williams, 38, initially was sentenced to life in prison for the 1998 killing of Dominique Hurd, a university cheerleader. He was later convicted of capital murder after he escaped from prison in 1999 and killed Cecil Boren.

I'm having a hard time working up ANY sympathy here.

#4 Was there any convulsing with Madame Guillotine? No FDA approval required. Does Utah still have firing squads?

#6 It's an execution, not a SleepTrain commercial for God's sake. Any discomfort incidental to rendering him room temperature is merely sop to to those of us with more biblical ideas about justice.

Wasn't so much convulsing as a strong twitch.

#8 Ya know, I'll go along with a probe if it includes a mulligan. If the inmate died then let the lawyer take its place.

#9 If he can't kill anymore cheerleaders, the process was obviously a success

#10 I'm failing to see the problem here.

#12 What, they expected him to survive?

I say they should have locked all the death row inmates, their lawyers, the pro-murder activists who led to this situation, four steak knives and a glass of water in a room. Let them settle the appropriate outcome.
