#1 Supply/Demand. Over supply and the price drops. Under supply and the price rises. Labor is no different. Why to you think unions want 'closed shop'? /rhet question. Same applies to the money supply. If you dump a quadrillion dollars into the system without backing, the money devalues (see-inflation). Restrict new money and existing money retains value.

A leading Finnish think tank is calling for a doubling of immigration to meet the country's employment needs.

Probably cheaper if we provide some Central Americans free air tickets to Helsinki from San Jose than to subsidize them here.

#4 Rents are the main reason immigration is subsidised.
The establishment collect the subsidies via increased rents even if the immigrants dilute GDP per head.
Lower wages costs falling on the middle and lower classes is just a "bonus"
