#2 They're eliminating competition to the madrassas. Which makes them look really bad, if the description of the equipment and scale of the school tracks.

"Why're the wimmincattle getting 25 rooms and a laboratory, when we're getting two rooms and a stack of cheap Saudi editions of the koran?"

#4 I wonder if this was one of Craig Mortenson's girl's schools.

My wife and I have attended Greg's seminars and lectures, plus we support his school building/funding efforts. He did say at one of his talks that they had been fairly lucky so far as to not loosing a school to the militants, but it wasn't so much 'if' it would happen, but 'when'. Sad, sad, sad. Apparently there were no children inside at the time, which is a releif of sorts.
