#1 Acetone and peroxide - somebody's got a hankering to cook up a little TATP. Little Zazi was planning on being a very naughty boy.

#2 wondering where the product is? heard it said that the 12 accomplices flew the coup and were not positively identified after the imam tipped him off. Personal experience informs me that keeping it around 'on the shelf' is not a good idea.

How Using Imam in Terror Inquiry Backfired on Police

By WILLIAM K. RASHBAUM and AL BAKER
Published: September 22, 2009

Current and former police and federal officials said that the effort on Sept. 10 to enlist the imam, Ahmad Wais Afzali, was undertaken by detectives from the Intelligence Division. They showed him pictures of the central suspect and three other men, some of the officials said.

In the subsequent hours, Mr. Afzali spoke both with the suspect, Mr. Zazi, a Denver airport shuttle bus driver, and his father. Court papers say he told the younger Mr. Zazi, who had driven from Colorado to Queens on Sept. 9 and 10, that the authorities had been looking for him.

New York Police Official in Terror Unit Is Removed

By WILLIAM K. RASHBAUM and AL BAKER
Published: September 23, 2009

The New York Police Department has removed a senior official from one of its two sometimes competing anti terrorism units, after it played a role in disrupting a sensitive federal terrorism investigation, current and former police officials said on Wednesday. He was replaced by a top official from the other unit.

The investigation was disrupted two weeks ago when detectives from one of the units, the Intelligence Division, sought assistance from a Queens imam who then alerted the central suspect in the case to the inquiry

Is the imam free? I wonder.
