#2 Isn't this one of the ports we should arclight for harboring pirates? Yes? No? Bomb it anyway.

No. No. Forget I said that. Let he who is without sin...well, you know.

Sorry. Just trying to work my way through some very disturbing images.

#3 She was murdered. Point.
If the only comment you can give is stupid, don't give any comment. The girl was 23... May God or Allah have her soul. This makes me vomit. A young life destroyed for something that does not exist, or rather for pure male macho-ism.

#4 So, she committed adultery on her own... because, obviously, there didn't seem to be any male co-adulterer along her when she was piously stoned to death. Gee.

#5 The phrase "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" is frequently taken way out of context. So allow me a brief diversion from the main news item to explain.

The two most powerful groups in Roman Palestine were the Pharisees, the people who kept the law meticulously and were, unfortunately, often self-righteous about it. The Saducees were the political elite, cynical and self-serving. Neither group could tolerate John the Baptist and Jesus's calling them on their attitudes.

The Pharisees tried to set Jesus up by bringing "a woman taken in adultery." They thought that if he said "stone her" it negated his talk about love and forgiveness; and if he said to let her go, he would be denying the validity of the Law of Moses. Jesus stumped them by telling them, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Slowly they left, beginning with the oldest among them. When they had all left, Jesus asked the woman, "Where are they who condemned you?...Neither do I condemn you. Go therefore and SIN NO MORE (emphasis mine)." John 8 1-11

Jesus doesn't condone sin here. Instead, he offers mercy and a second chance.
