#1 So it's ok for guys to blow on a large phaellic symbol, but not girls? Kind of like the Al Qaeda in Iraq saying men could fondle cucumbers in public but not women. These local customs are so confusing.

#2 Culturally, the 'didge comes from Northern (tropical) Australia, made from termite-hollowed tree roots, and only played by men in ceremonies. These days, 'didges are made all over the country, and played-or attempted to be played- by anyone.
I have a fond memory of one night in a campground at Pimba, our school returning en masse from a trip to Adelaide, and we heard the sound of somebody trying to play a didge. Kids and parents descended on two surprised young Israeli men, sat respectfully in a semicircle in front of their tent, and Mimila (one of our Mom's) showed them how to play the didge. A very enjoyable evening.
