#1 Good to see we're reaching the point in the war where lots of development turnaround times can be publicized. UAVs, ordnance, the semi-mythical stuff - the surge tactics - all staying on the offensive.

Hope the central european and central asian diplomatic initiatives are keeping up with this pace.

#2 This is probably good news.

The one niggling doubt in the back of my mind is that these surgically clean weapons systems remove any impetus for the "civilians" to rise up against our/their enemies.

An attitude of "oh well, I just have to keep my head down and rely on the Americans to clean up all our messes". This kind of goes along with the idea that by going so easy on the civilian population we enabled the bad guys.

#3 These things are way more expensive than the Toyota pickups they are targetting. It would probably be tactically a lot more efficient to have a B-52 dump a whole load of dumb iron but when every fluffy bunny is precious we just can't afford the propaganda cost of collateral damage.
