#5 Names don't play the same way across cultures. We take it for granted, but in Samarra a name like Sons of Iraq has resonance -- it indicates a national allegiance, which is exactly what AQI does not want unless they control the nation.

#9 Don't knock it. The "Sons of Iraq" sound a lot like the "Sons of Liberty" that helped win our Revolutionary War. I've proposed a new organization here - the North American Militia, dedicated to preserving freedom of the individual, open to all citizens of all nations between the Isthmus of Panama and the North Pole. THAT would certainly shake things up here, just as the Sons of Iraq are shaking things up in Iraq. Good on 'em, and go for it!

#10 Sons of Iraq sounds like something they came up with themselves. That sounds like it would be their name for themselves. Concerned Local Citizens sounds like something the military came up with to give them a name before they actually gave themselves one. More like a description than a name.

Don't know bout the name. Daughters of the Revolution comes to mind. Ether way, bet they are proud to fight for their nation, tribe what have you.
