Well, at the time, the amount of money in it was... 300 millions francs (about 45 millions euros, or $60 millions). Yacoub seems to have prepared his retirement well, thanks to his ME ~~Masters~~ friends.

#3 Sorry to disappoint my fellow rantburgers but "danseuses" ie dancing girls is more or less synonym with what you call white elephants (ie useless, borribly expensive, but prestigios and cherished by the decsion maker, projects).
