#1 ... the person on the run would not know he had been spotted. Troops on the ground wearing goggles would suddenly see a beam of light from the sky, and could follow it to their quarry.

If the quarry could see the light from the sky, he'd have to fall down immediately and pray.

#4 That is one fine idea, Mrs D. I certainly wish the AF Brass (read: morons) would get over it, already, regards the A-10. The A-10's are no different than the Sandies (ignoring the extra firepower, of course) - low 'n slow is the groundpounder's friend.

#5 In regards to the A-10 Thunderbolt II they are getting it. The A-10 fleet is slowly being retrofitted an upgraded to fly another 25 years.

The kind of work is work that can and should be done by rotor craft and slow moving prop driven aircraft. Putting hours on fighter airframes is a waste of money. Put this "pod" on the right craft is it's so much better than the traditional FLIR most law enforcement and the army use.
