#4 Waiting for the Turks to take the bait?

They've already 'taken the bait.' Vlad has unmasked Erdogan for what he is, a pro-ISIS sympathizer. A pro-muslin Turkey as a NATO member was a cock-up from the onset.

Yeah. What I don't get is why Erdogan thought this was a good move. Nominally allies. Strong economic ties. A military hot-line set up between the two countries that went unused. I could see it if the Sukhois were making a beeline for the Presidential Palace, but from the Turk's own radar track, this 'incursion' was more like stepping out of bounds.

I understand the immediate goal was to get the Russians to leave Turkmen forces alone, but it seems like a blustery, ineffective way to get there. Especially since the Russians are currently bombing the crap out of said Turkmen.

To put it in game theory terms, I don't understand the Turkish evaluation function.

#8 I used to play Risk with a fellow who would openly state I am going to Greenland - North America and whoever attacks me first, I go after until I am gone.

He always lost. If you set up shop (in the line of march) in Iceland and him in Great Britain, you didn't win.

Depending upon who was playing, how long he lasted.

If people can be like that, why not nations?
