#2 The deep, corrosive, evil bigotry towards any Jew more serious than a Reform or any Christian more serious than a Unitarian trumps everything for a leftist.

Worship of the apparatus of state tolerates no competitors. Reminds me of another religion.

It's not about being Reform, as we can have as profound a faith and as deep a Zionist connection as our more traditional coreligionists. It's about using the umbrella of Judaism to express the Progressive worldview, and allowing an open despite of those Jews whose faith is profound and Zionism real to pervade both words and deeds. There are Conservative and even a few Orthodox Jews who do this as well.
