JFM, that may come sooner rather than later:

"Canada's two Right-of-centre parties are set to unite, ending a decade in which the ruling Liberals under Jean ChrÃ©tien faced a divided opposition and won three consecutive elections. The new party, known as the Conservative Party, will field one candidate instead of two in each constituency in an election expected next year. ... Avoiding a split vote is expected to give the Conservatives at least 30 extra seats in next year's election. ..."
