#1 How politically tone deaf (arrogant) do you have to be to time te lunch launch so close to the election? Yes most high schoolers cant vote but it makes for bad press and only a moron would not have considered at least one kid was gonna make a stink and post it to youtube.

#9 Airandee, that was true long before the First Klingon started meddling with school lunches. I've read elsewhere that 70 to 80% of the food served in a typical school meal ends up in the trash can.
That's why I say feed the youts with pizza and ice cream -- they'll actually eat it, and the sugar high will make them more controllable during English class.

This picture of a school lunch tray was uploaded to the Facebook photostream of "Nutrition Nannies," a group established by Republican Rep. Steve King that urges users to submit photos of their childrens' lunch trays. From the group's website: "USDA's new school lunch guidelines are leaving our children hungry. "Tag" Nutrition Nannies in your pictures of your children's school lunch trays. Use this page as a forum to learn about and express your frustration about the new guidelines." King has introduced the "No Hungry Kids Act" to repeal the new school lunch regulations, which were championed by Michelle Obama. (FACEBOOK)....The standards -- which cap meal calories at 650 for students in kindergarten through fifth grade, at 700 calories for middle school students and 850 for high school students -- also dictate the number of breads, proteins, vegetables and fruits children are allowed per meal.
A spokeswoman for Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King, who earlier this month introduced legislation to roll back the new standards, told The Daily Caller that King's office has heard more complaints about the issue during the past few weeks than any other...And some student-athletes in Wisconsin are arguing that the calorie caps hit them especially hard, given their intense workouts and scrimmages.
"A lot of us are starting to get hungry even before the practice begins," Mukwonago High senior Nick Blohm told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Our metabolisms are all sped up.... "We would eat our pencils at school if they had nutritional value."
