#1 Damn. I was hoping they were being sent for offshore bombardment platforms. Nothing like the big naval guns to perk things up in the combat zone.

#2 I wonder how many of those UK citizens are RPG-toting graduates of Finbury Mosque???

#4 I am guessing quite a few of those "nationals" that want to flee are full blown "Party of God" members in good standing. I am hoping they take the old women and children first and only take the males after all the women and children are safely away and careful vetting. This is the Religion of Pantywaists™ we are dealing with after all. Who in their right mind would be in Leabanon anyway?

#5 The French can't come out and play : their carrier keeps dropping its propellor, and has to be towed back to port. They may send a minor fleet later, to be the ferry service back to France - after the US helolifts their civilians out to them.

#6 'I refuse to leave this area despite the heavy shelling...I want to die at home,' one man, Ali Haidar told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa in Haret Hreik.

The balcony view of your flat is just lovely. That's where I'd be sitting.

#7 The US has evidently charted a Greek cruise liner to help in mass evacuations/vacations.

#10 There was a little boy stood on a burning log,
rubbing his hands with glee.
He said, "Oh Mother England,
did you light my smile; or did you light this fire under me?
