#1 Although the long Egypt-Libya border appears desolate the crossings between Sollum in the north and Jabal Uwainat at the Egypt-Libya-Sudan tripoint are numerous. Arms from Libya cross the border and are met at Farafra or Kharga oasis. The arms are then transported north to Cairo where they are shipped by truck or boat to the Sinai, or they are shipped across the Red Sea. It is the movement of Libyan arms that feeds the Sinai insurgency.
