#2 That only apply to the upper crust G(r)omgoru. They have not been affected by this so they don't care. The lower cases can 'carry on' and put up with it themselves.

Until the upper crust is affected, nothing is going to happen.

#4 Well, the commons, (AKA serfs) has been so put down by the upper crust so long that they don't realize there's a better way to live. Changes only happens when the serfs turns against their overlords (mostly via elections nowadays.)

Watch any Monty Python movies to get a true sense of how hopeless British life is (were?) Look past the plot and main characters and note the supporting characters and extras. That's why so many of them moved to America. Of course pretty much the same was also true in most European countries.

#6 Problem may be that speech is limited in the U.K. Anything anti-Muslim is considered hate speech. Not so much with the football clubs.

#7 beaten down, defenseless Not so, just that they've been taught to know their place. Upward mobility is apparently a difficult concept for most British in my experience. Football fans are not concerned about upward mobility, they're just expressing their frustration in a government sanctioned matter. Football is one way the upper crust manage the serfs emotions.

jvalentour in #6 above may have hit on a major point about limited free speech and 'hate speech'.

I am seeing some small signs that this may not remain passive for much longer, reading between the lines in various news sites, reports and social media seems to be showing mounting anger and frustration with radical Islam and the political leaders inactions. We will just have to wait and see what develop. True action or more bread and circuses?
