Muhammadu Buhari (born 17 December 1942) is the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a retired Major General in the Nigerian Army who was Head of State of Nigeria from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985, after taking power in a military coup d'ĂŠtat.[3][4] The term Buharism is ascribed to the Buhari military government.[5][6]

He also ran unsuccessfully for the office of President in the 2003, 2007 and 2011 elections. In December 2014, he emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, for the 2015 elections. In March 2015, Buhari won the 2015 general election. Buhari is a native of Daura in Katsina State, he is of Fulani ethnic background, and his faith is Islam.[1][2]

The article, no doubt hastily rewritten today to match necessary realities, make him sound like he tried to create a Singapore, but lacked the human material necessary to do so. Hopefully he has learnt useful lessons during his exile from power.
