#1 Because the 18 year old Elders cannot construct a proper unicorn with hobbits and shit.

#2 Old enough to vote, old enough to draft.

#3 I think they're going about it all wrong. IMO, the proper way to establish People's democracy in USA is to disfranchise all white heterosexual males.

#4 Old enough to vote, old enough to be charged and if convicted treated as an adult in any crime.

#5 I still think only taxpayers should be able to vote although I would make the exception that if you are subject to being drafted you should be able to vote. But then, I wouldn't draft 16 year olds.

#6 There's enough ignorant people voting already; we don't need more of them, unless it's another unclever ploy to get more chumps to vote Democrat.

#7 (1) They want them to vote before the high school brainwashing has worn off (2) Young folks don't vote in significant numbers as is, even younger are unlikely to improve the trend so this is just stupid (3) There is some logic to having a single date for adulthood, when you can drive, drink, vote, and serve in the military. I vote for 18. Although perhaps we can allow provisional driving (as they currently do) and voting at the local level (dog catcher and mayor) at only 16.

#8 Let me put that in a different manner. Depending upon local, state, and federal laws, only those qualified to own their own gun can vote. That would do wonders in altering the voter registration in a number of interesting ways.
