#4 IF it passes, we'll see a dent in the real estate market in NYC and parking should get easier down on Oyster Bay.

Corbusier did a great job on the building, it is a really handsome building. I suppose we could let someone convert it condos or something.

#6 Corbusier did a great job on the building,

The renovation costs to remove asbestos alone, not to mention rewiring to modern standards... But hadn't that nice Mr. Trump once offered to do the work at cost -- or was it Ted Turner? One of the billionaires littering the landscape. at any rate.

#7 The UN building is indeed impressive but Le Corbusier's apartment buildings and houses were sterile, post-modern stark whiteism almost un-livable domiciles. He called them machines for living and they had all the warmth of a cargo carrier.

#10 Read Tom Wolfe's ""Bauhaus to Our House" for the inside story on this architectural movement. It was meant to be worker housing for the communists.

#11 Le Corbusier broke everything down into what he called the modular. It was a scale of harmonic measures that set architectural elements in proportion to human scale. ThE problem with this is if something is designed for an individual it will only fit that individual. It works to a certain point. Frank Lloyd Wright used modular schemes in most of his designs but they were geometrical, i. e., 5x3, and not tied to any particular individual.
