Two Chicago police officers hit and killed by metro train
(CNN)Two Chicago police officers were killed Monday after being struck by a metro train, authorities said.

Conrad Gary and Eduardo Marmolejo were responding to a shots fired call on the city's South Side when a passing train hit them, Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters.

The officers were searching an area near train tracks at 103rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue when they were struck, Johnson said. The train had been traveling at 60 mph to 70 mph, he said.

"While doing the most dangerous thing any police officer can do, and that is to chase an individual with a gun, these brave young men were consumed with identifying a potential threat to their community and put the safety of others above their own," Johnson said.

A suspect was ultimately taken into custody and a gun was recovered, Johnson said.

Gary, 31, had been on the force 18 months. Marmolejo, 37, joined the department 2 1/2 years ago, Johnson said.
The men, both fathers, lost their lives just a week before Christmas.

NY Times Opinion: Human Extinction Might Be A Good Thing
[NYT] There are stirrings of discussion these days in philosophical circles about the prospect of human extinction. This should not be surprising, given the increasingly threatening predations of climate change. In reflecting on this question, I want to suggest an answer to a single question, one that hardly covers the whole philosophical territory but is an important aspect of it. Would human extinction be a tragedy?

To get a bead on this question, let me distinguish it from a couple of other related questions. I’m not asking whether the experience of humans coming to an end would be a bad thing. (In these pages, Samuel Scheffler has given us an important reason to think that it would be.) I am also not asking whether human beings as a species deserve to die out. That is an important question, but would involve different considerations. Those questions, and others like them, need to be addressed if we are to come to a full moral assessment of the prospect of our demise. Yet what I am asking here is simply whether it would be a tragedy if the planet no longer contained human beings. And the answer I am going to give might seem puzzling at first. I want to suggest, at least tentatively, both that it would be a tragedy and that it might just be a good thing.

[Never be uninteresting. Read the most thought-provoking, delightful and raw stories from The New York Times Opinion section.]

To make that claim less puzzling, let me say a word about tragedy. In theater, the tragic character is often someone who commits a wrong, usually a significant one, but with whom we feel sympathy in their descent. Here Sophocles’s Oedipus, Shakespeare’s Lear, and Arthur Miller’s Willy Loman might stand as examples. In this case, the tragic character is humanity. It is humanity that is committing a wrong, a wrong whose elimination would likely require the elimination of the species, but with whom we might be sympathetic nonetheless for reasons I discuss in a moment.

To make that case, let me start with a claim that I think will be at once depressing and, upon reflection, uncontroversial. Human beings are destroying large parts of the inhabitable earth and causing unimaginable suffering to many of the animals that inhabit it. This is happening through at least three means. First, human contribution to climate change is devastating ecosystems, as the recent article on Yellowstone Park in The Times exemplifies. Second, increasing human population is encroaching on ecosystems that would otherwise be intact. Third, factory farming fosters the creation of millions upon millions of animals for whom it offers nothing but suffering and misery before slaughtering them in often barbaric ways. There is no reason to think that those practices are going to diminish any time soon. Quite the opposite.

Humanity, then, is the source of devastation of the lives of conscious animals on a scale that is difficult to comprehend.

#7  For the clueless "climate change" is an ongoing process that is uncontrollable by whatever puny efforts we humans may want to do. It is not brought about by human energy consumption and generation. It is powered by the Sun effecting the atmosphere and oceans and land masses. The land masses direct the flow of the oceans ... blah blah blah ...
Now a philosophy prof is telling us we're bad. La-Di-Da!
So, long as he's protected within the safety of our society, he'll never have to worry about the whole predator-prey game that is normal to the animal kingdom. Get a life loser. Or show us how to save the planet and end yours.

Anchor Baby Extreme: At 8-Months Pregnant, Migrant Hops The Border Fence For A Chance At Giving Birth In The U.S.
[Hot Air] Since we seem to be heading for a government shutdown over money to build a wall on the southern border, it’s worth pointing out that sections of the current border fence can’t even stop a woman who is 8-months pregnant from crossing. Today, Al Jazeera published a video report about migrants who are choosing to jump the fence and enter the country illegally rather than wait for a chance to claim asylum at the port of entry.

The clip below shows several different family groups hopping the fence in a matter of moments. The story notes that one portion of the fence, which had been relatively easy to cross, has now been reinforced and is nearly twice as tall. A leap from the top would be a risky proposition even for a healthy adult. However, "a few kilometers away" there are still sections of the fence which it seems anyone can cross.

Victor Davis Hanson: The Globalist Mindset: They Hate You
[American Greatness] Against what or whom is the contemporary Western public pushing back?

The French non-Parisians against new green taxes on already unaffordable gasoline? Broke southern European Union nations against the financial demands of German bankers? The Eastern Europeans against French and German open-border mandates?

The British masses against both the EU and their own government that either cannot or will not follow the will of the people and implement Brexit? The American populists against outsourcing, offshoring, and illegal immigration?

The common target of all these populist pushbacks is an administrative and cultural elite that shares a set of transnational and globalist values and harbors mostly contempt for the majority of their own Neanderthal citizens who are deemed hopelessly unwoken to environmental, racial, gender, and cultural inevitabilities.

In a word, the Ivy League, Oxbridge, and the Sorbonne masters of the universe assume that the world is on a predetermined trajectory. We are to follow an arc of history bending toward state-managed social justice if you will‐to end up as a sort of global Menlo Park, Malibu, Upper West Side, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Schwabing, or Kensington. No wonder, it is their ethical duty of transnationals to goad the fated, but sometimes stalled, process along.

Like Aristocrats of Old

Voters in consensual societies are often assumed too ignorant of the world beyond their borders, too encumbered with traditional racial, ethnic, gender, religious, and nationalist prejudices, and too ill-informed to know what is good for them. No wonder that sometimes hoi polloi must either vote repeatedly until they get it right, or follow executive and judicial fiats issued from their betters on high. In the globalist mindset, Brexit passed not because it was felt to be good by a majority or even advantageous for the United Kingdom, but because racists, xenophobes, nativists, protectionists, and chauvinists deluded the clueless public into thinking a pre-EU, and more racist and sexist Britain was somehow superior.

Mexico Has a Plan to Deter Illegal Aliens From Flocking to the United States. Here's What It Entails.
[Townhall] Over the next five years, the Mexican government plans to spend $30 billion on Central American development. Their goal is simple: to keep illegal aliens from heading north towards the United States border, USA Today reported.

According to Mexican Foreign Ministry Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico "will change its migration policies to respond to the needs required in the south of our country and Central America," although it's unclear exactly how those funds will be spent.

"We’re going to guarantee that the rights of migrants in our territory are respected," Newly-elected Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrado told reporters on Dec. 5. "About how to resolve the problem, we’re putting together a proposal to invest in productive projects and job creation. And, not only that, in work visas as well for Mexican and for the United States."

PA believes Hamas terrorist released in Shalit deal behind West Bank shootings
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian sources tell Israeli news outlet that Jasser Barghouti was tasked by superiors in Gazoo to use family ties in West Bank to set up terrorist infrastructure

Sources in the Paleostinian Authority told the Ynet news site on Monday that they believe a Gazook Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, terror leader who previously served time in an Israeli prison was behind a cell thought to be responsible for a recent series of attacks on Israelis in the Ramallah area.

According to the report, Jasser Barghouti, a convicted terrorist released as part of the 2011 swap that freed kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, was directing the so-called "West Bank group" terror cell that Israeli officials suspect is to blame for deadly shooting attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians in the West Bank last week.

Alice Walker under fire for praise of 'antisemitic' David Icke book
[Guardian] The New York Times Book Review and Alice Walker have come under criticism for comments the celebrated writer made in an interview with the publication in which she recommended a work by someone accused of antisemitism.

Asked what books were currently on her nightstand, Walker, the author of The Color Purple, mentioned among others And the Truth Shall Set You Free, by the controversial British figure David Icke. Icke, an author and public speaker in his own right, has long propounded a series of conspiracy theories in his work that many see as antisemitic.

"The book is an unhinged antisemitic conspiracy tract written by one of Britain’s most notorious antisemites," wrote Tablet magazine’s Yair Rosenberg, among the most strident critics of Walker’s comment. Rosenberg also faulted the Times for failing to react to or qualify the contents of the book to its readers.

Icke has long claimed that a shadowy cabal controls the world, a familiar antisemitic trope.

Russian propagandists targeted African Americans to influence 2016 US election
[Guardian] Operatives used social media to suppress votes for Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump, new research finds

Russian online propagandists aggressively targeted African Americans during the 2016 US election campaign to suppress votes for Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump, according to new research.

Analysts found that Russian operatives used social media to "confuse, distract, and ultimately discourage" black people and other pro-Clinton blocs from voting, using bogus claims such as Clinton receiving money from the Ku Klux Klan.

Black turnout declined in 2016 for the first presidential election in 20 years, according to the US census bureau, falling to less than 60% from a record high of 66.6% in 2012. Exit polls indicated that black voters strongly favoured Clinton over Trump.

The new findings on the secret activities of the Internet Research Agency (IRA), known as the Russian government’s "troll factory", were revealed on Monday in a pair of reports to the US Senate’s intelligence committee. One was led by experts from Oxford University and the other by New Knowledge, an American cybersecurity firm.

New Knowledge said Russia had waged a five-year "propaganda war" against the US public. The Oxford researchers said that while the propaganda was meant to "push and pull" Americans in different directions, "what is clear is that all of the messaging clearly sought to benefit the Republican party ‐ and specifically, Donald Trump".

Both reports faulted the major social media companies ‐ Facebook, Twitter and Google ‐ for what they said were ongoing failures to turn over exhaustive data to US authorities investigating the Russian campaign. They said some executives had "misrepresented or evaded" and "dissembled" in statements to Congress.

Buggering Oxford researchers was it? More than simply "push and pull", has been for a very long time.

Colonel Theodore Lyman, one of Meade's aides, recorded a postcript of to the visit of two British officers. Left unsaid by Meade was the common knowledge that it had been the output of British factories and mills that had supplied the weaspons, munitions, and supplies, without which the Confederacy would have collapsed in the first year of the war if left to it's own resourses. Mead's aide, Colonel Rosenkrantz - a Swedish immigrant - was the escort for these two officers and less reticent. When asked by them what was the opinion of Americans of the British, he said , "Vell, I can tell you that, so far as I have observed, some Americans do just care nothing about you, and many other say that, when this war is over, they will immediately and very soon kick you out of Canada." The increulous British asked why "Rosie" replied. "Because they had say you have made the Rebs very many bullets." More to the point, in March of the next year Grant forwarded to Stanton a captured ammunition box stamped, "Royal Arsenal Woolwich, " Whether Sharpe had anything to do with this is unknown.

#6  One was led by experts from Oxford University and the other by New Knowledge, an American cybersecurity firm.

‘Junk News’: Russia Report Done By Anti-Conservative Academics

The Oxford University Computational Propaganda Project had attacked several conservative outlets as “junk news” in previous studies. Those targeted outlets include Drudge Report, NewsBusters, CNSNews, MRCTV, Breitbart, the Daily Caller, Free Beacon, LifeNews, National Review, the Federalist, and the Red State. (Three of those are operated by the Media Research Center, which runs NewsBusters.)

The study on “junk news” drew on “a list of sources that consistently publish political news and information that is extremist, sensationalist, conspiratorial, masked commentary, fake news, and other forms of junk news.”

That study was also produced by Oxford and Graphika. Two of the people behind that study, “Junk News Consumption,” were involved in this latest study, “The IRA, Social Media and Political Polarization in the United States 2012-2018.” Philip N. Howard and John Kelly worked on both projects. On Twitter, Howard has posted that he is against the Second Amendment, and repeatedly pushed that Trump supporters and the Trump campaign work primarily through “fake news.”

Another member of the group that produced the study, Camille Francois, was a former employee of Google, working at Jigsaw as a Principal Researcher.

Democrats fight over who owns data ahead of 2020
[AP] Democratic National Committee officials and a group of state party leaders are trying to resolve an increasingly ugly dispute over how the party manages and pays for the voter data used in campaigns.

The saga, which spilled into open view in recent weeks, eventually will determine how extensive and useful a voter information file will be to the Democratic presidential nominee in 2020. The fight also is testing DNC Chairman Tom Perez and his promises to rebuild trust across Democrats’ national headquarters, state parties and donors across the country following a 2016 campaign that left the party fractured.

DNC officials will meet Tuesday in Washington with certain state party chairs and executive directors as the party attempts to overhaul its data operation amid widespread agreement that Democrats have been lapped by Republicans on a pillar of campaign infrastructure.

The gathering is complicated by a recent round of emails among Perez and state party chiefs, with each side effectively accusing the other of a counterproductive power grab.

"Here’s the bottom line: We all want to win," Perez told The Associated Press in an interview ahead of Tuesday’s private session. Yet he alluded to the obvious tensions, saying "a lot of stakeholders ... have very important equities in the process."

Perez supports creation of a data trust ‐ a legal entity separate from the party itself ‐ designed for the national party, state party, Democratic candidates and the left’s special interest groups to share data in real time. Republicans already use a similar structure, and Democrats concede it was an underappreciated variable in President Donald Trump’s 2016 victory.

State party leaders say they also want sharable, real-time data. But they argue that could be accomplished through a co-operative managed through state parties and aided by a third-party vendor, TargetSmart, a company many state parties already use as a data contractor.

US sportswear traced to factory in China's internment camps
HOTAN, China (AP) ‐ Barbed wire and hundreds of cameras ring a massive compound of more than 30 dormitories, schools, warehouses and workshops in China’s far west. Dozens of armed officers and a growling Doberman stand guard outside.

Behind locked gates, men and women are sewing sportswear that can end up on U.S. college campuses and sports teams.

This is one of a growing number of internment camps in the Xinjiang region, where by some estimates 1 million Muslims are detained, forced to give up their language and their religion and subject to political indoctrination. Now, the Chinese government is also forcing some detainees to work in manufacturing and food industries. Some of them are within the internment camps; others are privately-owned, state-subsidized factories where detainees are sent once they are released.

The Associated Press has tracked recent, ongoing shipments from one such factory inside an internment camp to Badger Sportswear, a leading supplier in Statesville, North Carolina. The shipments show how difficult it is to stop products made with forced labor from getting into the global supply chain, even though such imports are illegal in the U.S. Badger CEO John Anton said Sunday that the company would source sportswear elsewhere while it investigates.

Chinese authorities say the camps, which they call training centers, offer free vocational training for Uighurs, Kazakhs and others, mostly Muslims, as part of a plan to bring minorities into "a modern civilized" world and eliminate poverty in Xinjiang. They say that people in the centers have signed agreements to receive vocational training.

Europe
France to impose new tax on internet and tech giants
[Aljazeera] Paris estimates it will make $570m in 2019 by introducing a new levy on large internet and tech firms from January 1.

France has said it will impose its own tax on large internet and technology companies from January 1.

French finance minister Bruno Le Maire said at a news conference in Paris on Monday that the measure would be introduced "whatever happens".

"It will be for the whole of 2019 for an amount that we estimate at 500 million euros [$570 million]," he said.

Monday's move could help Paris close a multibillion-euro hole in the 2019 budget left by President Emmanuel Macron's new measures for low-income families, which were introduced last week to appease the "yellow vest" protesters.

The big tech lash: Tech giants under scrutiny
France has long been pushing hard for a so-called "GAFA tax" - named after Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon - to ensure the global giants pay a fair share of taxes on their massive business operations in the European Union.

The low tax rates paid by the US tech giants in the EU has repeatedly caused anger among voters in many European countries, but the 28-member bloc is divided on how to tackle the issue.

New Congressional Black Caucus Chair: We May Have No Choice But to Impeach Trump
[Townhall] Incoming Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Karen Bass (D-CA) sat down with The Hill on Monday for an interview. That's when she talked about the potential for impeachment proceedings.

"Whether or not articles of impeachment get introduced and followed up on, I think time will tell," Bass told Jamal Simmons. "We could very easily be in a place where we have no choice because if it keeps coming out of evidence of criminal behavior from this White House, it's going to be hard for us not to do that."

Bass, however, did remind Simmons of one thing: Republicans hold a majority in the Senate. Even if the House decided to impeach Trump and it passed, it wouldn't hold up in the Senate.

"Realistically speaking, you know, you know we can impeach in this House, but it can't be followed through because there's not a supermajority over in the Senate," Bass explained. "So I think impeachment might come up, but I guarantee you it is not the first item on anybody's agenda that would be chairing these committees."

#6  Typical CBC Corrupt Pol:
The Curious Case of Karen Bass
But after hitting the campaign trail this spring as the Democratic Party's heir apparent to outgoing Congresswoman Diane Watson, Bass, who was President Obama's state campaign co-chair in 2008, ran into the kinds of troubles that normally dog the fat-cat insiders and Sacramento political hacks.

The Los Angeles Times reported in early June that Bass had missed 60 percent of Assembly sessions during her campaign, yet she was collecting the generous $141.80 in per diem payments that taxpayers provide legislators so they can afford to work far from home, in Sacramento.

Bass had collected per diem for 29 days, getting more than $4,000, yet for much of that time she was skipping out of legislative duties in Sacramento.

Just months before her per diem practices came to light, she had touted her "Joint Select Committee on Reform" to increase legislative transparency and revamp the old ways of doing business in politics.

"That's why it's upsetting that we find her having compromised in some of those areas," says Doug Heller, executive director of Consumer Watchdog, a Santa Monica–based good-government group.

More recently, Bass' staff made the news for taking from oil giant BP lots of free tickets to major sporting and other events in Sacramento. Though it was legal, it left an uneasy feeling that Bass had morphed into just another pol, and more quickly than most.

"At the very least," says Heller of her per diem take, "it's a major loss of perspective over what should have been a natural and obvious bright line for someone like Karen Bass. When you go to Sacramento and live in that insular world for five or six years, clear rules become fuzzy."

U.S. Says Air Strikes Killed 62 Militants in Somalia
NAIROBI (Reuters) ‐ The U.S. military said on Monday it had killed 62 militants in six air strikes over the weekend in the vicinity of Gandarsh in Somalia's south-central Banaadir province.

The military's Africa Command (Africom) said four strikes were carried out on Saturday, killing 34 militants, and two more on Sunday, which killed 28. "Africa Command and our Somali partners conducted these air strikes to prevent terrorists from using remote areas as a safe haven to plot, direct, inspire and recruit for future attacks," Africom said in a statement.

The air strikes, among the deadliest this year, did not kill any civilians, the statement said.

"At this time we assess these air strikes did not injure or kill any civilians."

The United States carries out regular air strikes in Somalia in support of a U.N.-backed government there, which has been fighting against an al Shabaab insurgency for years.

Last month, the U.S. military said it had killed 37 militants. In Washington, the Pentagon cited 45 strikes against al Shabaab militants this year, after 35 strikes in 2017.

As of August 2018, the Pentagon believes there were 3,000 to 7,000 al Shabaab fighters and 70 to 250 Islamic State militants in Somalia, Pentagon spokesman Colonel Robert Manning said during a press briefing.

France 'the sick man of Europe': Polish foreign minister
[PULSE.NG] "La Belle France is the sick man of Europe, it is a drag on Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
while Poland is a bright spot," Jacek Czaputowicz told Polish television channel Polsat News.

"The terrorist attack proves that something is not right in La Belle France, the protests over the past weeks, President Macron's withdrawal of state reforms -- it's sad," he added.

French President Emmanuel Macron was forced last week to make concessions to the "yellow vests" movement after weeks of sometimes violent protests around the country.

A French jihadist attacked the Christmas market in Strasbourg, eastern La Belle France last Tuesday, killing five people -- including a Polish national who died of his wounds on Sunday.

"If at the same time, you're lecturing Poland, there is something not right. First you have to bring some order to your own country" said Czaputowicz.

Czaputowicz's comments reflect longstanding tensions between the two countries since the rightwing populist Law and Justice (PiS) government took power in Poland in 2015.

Most recently, Macron has been critical of Poland's controversial reforms, which the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
says pose a threat to the independence of the judiciary.

But even before Macron came to power in 2017, relations between the two countries soured after Poland called off a multi-billion euro deal with La Belle France's Airbus to buy 50 of its Caracal helicopters.

Truce in Yemen's Hodeida due to start Tuesday after new clashes
[PULSE.NG] A ceasefire in Yemen's battleground port city of Hodeida and its surroundings will start on Tuesday, a UN official said, after renewed fighting threatened the hard-won accord struck in Sweden.

Yemeni pro-government forces have been battling to capture the Red Sea port city of Hodeida from Houthis.

The deal announced on Thursday between Yemen's Saudi-backed government and the Houthis included an "immediate ceasefire" in Hodeida, whose Red Sea port serves as a crucial gateway for humanitarian aid.

The UN official, who requested anonymity, told AFP that the delay to the halt in hostilities until midnight (2100 GMT) on Monday was necessary for "operational reasons".

Yemen's Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yamani, who led the government's delegation to the peace talks, also told state-run television late Sunday that the ceasefire would begin at midnight Monday.

Residents in Hodeida and the surrounding areas have reported fierce fighting and air strikes in recent days, as festivities continued between Saudi-backed government forces and the Iran-aligned Huthis.

At least 29 fighters, including 22 Houthis, were killed on Saturday night in Hodeida province, a pro-government military source told AFP.

Two Hodeida residents reached by telephone told AFP that they could hear intermittent festivities to the east and south of the city on Monday.

A pro-government military official said that there were sporadic festivities, adding that a fire erupted in one of the factories in the east of the city due to strikes on Sunday night.

UN peacekeepers say two tunnels at Israel border breached UN resolution
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] UN peacekeepers in Leb said on Monday two of four tunnels found close to the border with Israel crossed the frontier demarcation between the two countries, violating a UN resolution that ended a 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel.

The UN Interim Force in Leb (UNIFIL) said it had so far confirmed the existence of four tunnels which the Israeli army discovered in the vicinity of the border demarcation, known as the "Blue Line", adding the finds were of "serious concern".

Israel says Hezbollah, Leb’s most powerful gang, dug the tunnels with the aim of launching attacks into Israel with backing from its regional sponsor Iran. Hezbollah has yet to comment.

"UNIFIL at this stage can confirm that two of the tunnels cross the Blue Line. These constitute violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1701," the statement said.

The UN peacekeepers said they would continue their technical investigations, describing the recent discoveries as "a matter of serious concern," requesting "urgent follow-up actions" by the Lebanese authorities.

Israel and Hezbollah have avoided major conflict across the Lebanese-Israeli border since 2006, though Israel has mounted attacks in Syria targeting what it said were advanced weapon deliveries to the group.

Israel has said it is up to UNIFIL to deal with the tunnels on the Lebanese side of the border, and its military said it held the Beirut government responsible for breaching Security Council resolution 1701.

Libya's electricity company hints at ending services in Misrata
[Libya Observer] Workers at the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) held Monday a sit-in in Misrata condemning the kidnap of the head of distribution administration in the central region Abdelhadi Al-Gaziri.

Al-Gaziri was abducted in Misrata on Sunday by unknown persons amid gunfire opened on his car. He was released by the gunmen hours later, according to the GECOL.

In a statement, the GECOL workers condemned the verbal assaults and the beatings as well as the stealing of the GECOL vehicles among other equipment in Misrata without any interference by the authorities.

"We call for arresting the kidnappers or we will stop providing GECOL services in the city until the authorities respond to the incident." The statement reads.

They said they will keep the services away from the city until their demands are answered, adding that this could led to the collapse of the electricity network in Misrata and big parts of central and western regions.

This morning, GECOL called on authorities to act to prevent such criminal activities and to arrest the perpetrators, saying it and its workers are not politically oriented in their work.

KDF Arrests Al Shabaab Members Planting Explosives In Lamu County

turbans who they caught trying to plant explosives at Bodhei, Lamu County.

According to The Standard, the soldiers were conducting a patrol and upon reaching Bodhei, a notorious place where Al-Shabaab has attacked officers before, they decided to proceed on foot and started shooting indiscriminately.

The action started when the turbans planting improvised bombs, detonated them in panic, thereby giving away their position.

The two faceless myrmidons retaliated and a shootout ensued after which they were overpowered and captured, but not before hurting a few soldiers.

This comes only a day after a lorry hired by KDF to carry construction materials, was badly damaged by an IED on the same road.

In November, Al-Shabaab turbans ambushed a police camp in Ijara, Garissa County but their efforts were thwarted, leaving multiple casualties.

On October, 24 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed by a squad from KDF at Bilis Qooqani, in the southern part of Somalia.

Coalition: Yemen legitimate government will take control of Hodeidah ports soon
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The front man for the Arab Coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, Turki al-Maliki, on Monday confirmed that the legitimate Yemeni government will be taking over control of the ports of Hodeidah soon.

On the Hodeidah agreement, Maliki told journalists at a weekly presser that the United Nations

He said the Houthi

The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias were now being tested by the international community to implement the agreement. Maliki also stressed that the Houthis were able to finally sit at the negotiating table due to the military pressure in all fronts.

The coalition stressed on Monday that they support all efforts in reaching a political solution and are committed to those efforts. Maliki pointed out, however, that there are monitoring committees and any breach of the Hodeidah agreement would be reported.

and not in Jerusalem.

Hassan Asfour added in his interview with the political program Political Memories, which will be broadcasted later this week on the Al Arabiya News Channel in a sit-down interview with Senior Anchor Taher Barakeh, that Arafat informed Israeli negotiators of his convictions when they demanded him to give the right of illusory sovereignty over the Temple Mount.

Asfour said that Arafat rejected the demand and said to them: "For peace I could give you the right to build a temple in Nablus but not in Jerusalem since the Jews have been present in Yemen and not in Jerusalem".

Saudis call for boycott of Turkish products in protest against ‘Ankara’s plots’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Saudi consumers in recent days launched a boycott campaign of Ottoman Turkish products to protest against what they called "Ankara’s position on the case of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi".

Saudi activists took the campaign on social media against the policies of Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
in handling the Khashoggi file.

The campaign which was represented through the hashtag #Saudis_rejecting_the_Ottoman Turkish_Products aimed at boycotting all Ottoman Turkish products and replacing them with local or other products from "friendly countries".

The Saudi activists said that their campaign’s goal was to "punish the Ottoman Turkish president", whom they said follows a negative policy against Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
. While the Ottoman Turkish economy fell off a cliff in 2018, many users online were questioning why they would help Ankara, which is taking a position against their country.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: Iran government control over security getting increasingly weak
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] As Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s health waivers, the central government’s control over the periphery appears increasingly weak, a news report has claimed.

According to the National Interest report, there are ample signs that Iranian security forces are beginning to lose their grip. The report cites the history of political protests in the country and also lists the various uprisings over the years.

"Not only do the economic protests which began nearly a year ago continue sporadically, but in recent months, gunnies and turbans have grown increasingly bold along Iran’s periphery," the report says.

Filling the void
The report claims that the vacuum which follows the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will likely mean a number of simultaneous and indigenous uprisings.

"While the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will remain on paper a formidable force, with the regime’s leadership vacant and its commander-in-chief functions absent, it will likely be faced with simultaneous indigenous uprisings and insurgencies in Khuzistan, Kurdistan and Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
," says the report.

According to the report, it is unclear how effective the IRGC could be under these circumstances. "The US intelligence community has two major blind spots with regard to the IRGC. The first is its factional divisions. The second concerns individual units," says the report.

Erdogan: New military operation in Syria to 'start at any moment'
[Al Jazeera] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
may launch a new military operation in northern Syria at any moment, President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
said, adding US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
had given a positive response to Turkey's plans.

Erdogan's remarks on Monday came days after he announced Ottoman Turkish forces would launch a new cross-border operation against the US-backed Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) to the east of the Euphrates River in northern Syria.

The YPG is considered a terrorist organization by Ankara. American troops are also located to the east of the Euphrates River.

Erdogan spoke on the phone with Trump on Friday and they agreed to ensure "more effective coordination" between their countries' military operations in Syria.

Miss Philippines wins 2018 Miss Universe crown
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Miss Philippines was crowned Miss Universe on Monday in Bangkok after a trailblazing ceremony.

Catriona Gray, 24, finished first ahead of the South African and Venezuelan finalists in the glittering televised event hosted by American comic turned TV host Steve Harvey and supermodel Ashley Graham.

In the final round, Gray earned applause describing her work in the slums of the Philippine capital Manila and said if she won she would try to find areas "where I could give something, where I could provide something."

She added she would work for a world "where negativity could not grow and foster and children would have a smile on their face".

Gray -- a student of music theory -- beat more than 90 contestants from around the globe in the 67th instalment of Miss Universe, which was held in the Thai capital's Impact Arena.

During the competition, which was broadcast live, candidates were asked questions on press freedom, refugees and the #MeToo movement.

This year's event drew positive feedback for themes of inclusivity and an all-women panel of judges made up of business leaders and former Miss Universe titleholders.

Miss Spain's Angela Ponce made history as the first transgender candidate in a competition.

But issues of tolerance and respect came center stage during the competition when Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers appeared to poke fun at Miss Vietnam and Miss Cambodia on social media for not being able to speak English.

The comments went viral but Summers later posted an apology on Instagram, saying she did not "intend to hurt" her fellow competitors.

The incident took place as Sharif was departing after chairing a meeting of senior PML-N leaders at Parliament House.

TV footage shows the cameraman, Syed Wajid Ali of Samaa TV, lying on the ground outside the parliament building after a security guard allegedly shoved him for coming in the way of the PML-N supreme leader while recording him.

Prepare yourself for two more years of "Hitlergate"
[SignsOfTheTimes] OK, so, that was a close one. For a moment there, I was starting to worry that the Democrats weren't going to take back the House and rescue us from "the brink of fascism." Which, if that had happened, in addition to having to attend all those horrible stadium rallies and help the government mass murder the Jews, we would have been denied the next two years of Donald Trump-related congressional hearings and investigations that we can now look forward to ... I'm going to go ahead and call them the Hitlergate Hearings.

Staging these hearings has always been a crucial part of the Resistance's strategy. As history has proved, time and time again, when literal fascists take over your democracy, outlaw opposing political parties, and start shipping people off to concentration camps and revoking journalists' White House access, the only effective way to defeat them is to form a whole buttload of congressional committees and investigate the living Hitler out of them. This is especially the case when the literal fascists who have commandeered your democracy are conspiring with a shifty-eyed Slavic dictator whose country you have essentially surrounded with your full-spectrum dominant military forces, and who your media have thoroughly demonized, but who is nevertheless able to brainwash your citizens into electing his fascist puppet president with a few thousand dollars worth of Facebook ads.

Police to charge Strasbourg gunman's 'accomplice'
[PULSE.NG] French anti-terrorist officials said Monday they would shortly file charges against a man placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
in connection with the mass shooting at a Christmas market in Strasbourg last week.

The 37-year-old, who was not immediately identified, was detained on Thursday.

He is suspected of helping to provide the pistol used by Cherif Chekatt, a career criminal who rubbed out five people and maimed 11 at the market last Tuesday night, judicial sources said.

Chekatt, who was on a list of possible Death Eater security risks, was shot and killed by police after a two-day manhunt in the city.

The alleged associate will be brought before a judge in Gay Paree on Monday, the prosecutors' office in the capital said.

Six other people detained in the wake of Tuesday's attack, including Chekatt's parents and two of his brothers, have been released without charge.

The Islamic State

group claimed Chekatt was one of their "fighters", but this was dismissed by French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner.

Chekatt's father, Abdelkrim, told La Belle France 2 television Saturday night that his son believed the Islamic State "fought for a good cause".

"I always told him they were criminals," his father added.

Had his son hinted he intended to kill people, "I would have told police about him, so that he wouldn't have killed anyone, and wouldn't have gotten himself killed," he said.

Four of the five people killed in Tuesday's attack were foreigners or born abroad.

One was a 45-year-old Thai tourist, and another a 45-year-old Franco-Afghan garage owner who fled his country 20 years ago.

A 28-year-old Italian journalist, in town to cover the European parliament, was also shot and killed, as was a 36-year-old former Pole who had lived in Strasbourg for the past 20 years.

The dead also included a 61-year-old Frenchie who had just retired and was shot in the head as he stepped out of a restaurant.

The Fruits of Progressivism: 11-Year-Old Boy Dressed In Drag Dances At Gay Bar, Gets Dollar Bills Thrown At Him
[DailyWire] On December 1, an 11-year-old boy dressed in drag danced on stage in a sexual manner at a gay bar in Brooklyn, NY, called 3 Dollar Bill. The child, Desmond Napoles, was dressed as a Gwen Stefani-lookalike ‐ full drag make up, a blonde wig, and crop top included ‐ as he bounced around onstage to No Doubt's "Like a Girl" and collected dollar bills from male adults viewing the number.

The Daily Wire has reviewed and confirmed the "performance" through video and photo posts on social media but has chosen not to link to the exploitative footage.

The performance, first flagged by YouTuber Yosef Ozia, was promoted on Eventbrite by 3 Dollar Bill.
The Perp(ette?) - another photo @ link:

"Only in New York... a nightclub that makes you go WHOA!!!," reads the promotion. "FEATURING: Upcoming Legend from Television and the Runway: DESMOND IS AMAZING!!! PERFORMING LIVE! ... This stage, this dance floor, this house... is ours as long as we protect it."

The promotional ad notes that 3 Dollar Bill bar is "queer owned & operated and we foster a safe space from love. We respect all human persons as long as those human persons are also respectful to the ones around them."

"I left after seeing a child dance on stage for money at nighttime. This was on Saturday night and I have been feeling disturbed ever since," wrote a one-star reviewer of 3 Dollar Bill on December 3 via Yelp."
Continues.
May they soon find themselves burning in Hell for what they are doing to these children.

Partners of ex-Trump aide Flynn indicted over Gulen plot
[PULSE.NG] The Justice Department charged Bijan Rafiekian, aka Bijan Kian, 66, of San Juan Capistrano, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, and Kamil Ekim Alptekin, 41, of Istanbul, with acting as unregistered agents of the Ottoman Turkish government and lying to the FBI over the 2016 scheme.

According to the indictment, Rafiekian and Alptekin made arrangements for the Flynn Intel Group to be indirectly paid $600,000 by the Ottoman Turkish government to help turn US public and political sentiment against exiled Gulen.

The plan was developed at the height of the 2016 election campaign when Flynn was advising then-candidate Trump on foreign and security policy.

The goal, the Justice Department said, was to obtain Gulen's extradition back to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....

... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
had accused him of orchestrating the July 2016 coup attempt.

The deal with Flynn was approved at top levels of the Ottoman Turkish government, the indictment said, with Alptekin keeping senior ministers apprised of its progress.

The indictment came one day ahead of the planned sentencing of Flynn, who was tossed in the clink

last year over his secret dealings with Russian officials and Turkey.

Flynn admitted one count of lying to the FBI in a plea deal which led to him providing "substantial" information to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia meddling in the 2016 election.

Flynn's work with the Turks has been known since last year, when the Wall Street Journal reported that he, Rafiekian and Alptekin met Erdogan's son-in-law Berat Albayrak

Christopher Steele: I Was Hired to Help Hillary Clinton Challenge the 2016 Election Results
[Breitbart] Christopher Steele, the former British spy who prepared the Russia "dossier" that has led to more than two years of investigations into President Donald Trump’s campaign, has told a London court that he was hired to provide a basis to challenge the legitimacy of the 2016 presidential election in the event that Trump won.

He said the law firm Perkins Coie wanted to be in a position to contest the results based on evidence he unearthed on the Trump campaign conspiring with Moscow on election interference.

His scenario is contained in a sealed Aug. 2 declaration in a defamation law suit brought by three Russian bankers in London. The trio’s American attorneys filed his answers Tuesday in a libel lawsuit in Washington against the investigative firm Fusion GPS, which handled the former British intelligence officer.

In an answer to interrogatories, Mr. Steele wrote: "Fusion’s immediate client was law firm Perkins Coie. It engaged Fusion to obtain information necessary for Perkins Coie LLP to provide legal advice on the potential impact of Russian involvement on the legal validity of the outcome of the 2016 US Presidential election.

"Based on that advice, parties such as the Democratic National Committee and HFACC Inc. (also known as ’Hillary for America’) could consider steps they would be legally entitled to take to challenge the validity of the outcome of that election."

Pentagon: We have no knowledge of Erdogan’s statements regarding Trump
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US military commanders have been briefed on Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
's comments and decided not to comment on them, said Pentagon front man Col. Rob Manning on Monday.

The front man also said Erdogan spoke positions on held by US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
of which the Pentagon had no knowledge of at the current time, according to statements carried on US-backed Al Hurra channel.

Manning stressed that the Pentagon sees alarming risks if The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
decides to launch ground military incursions into Syria.

The Pentagon has expressed grave concern, saying unilateral military action by any party in northeast Syria - where US forces operate - would be "unacceptable".

Earlier in the day, Erdogan suggested that Trump was more receptive to Ottoman Turkish plans to move east of the Euphrates River than his own US Defense Department.

"We officially announced that we will start a military operation to the east of the Euphrates, "Erdogan said in a speech in the central province of Konya. "We discussed this with Mr Trump and he gave a positive response."

Turkey and the United States have long been at odds over Syria policy, where Washington has backed the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia against ISIS. Ankara considers the YPG a terrorist organization tied to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), an outlawed group that has waged a three-decade insurgency in southeast Turkey.

Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. vaccinations on social media, a 25pc increase in refusals was recorded during the recent polio campaign in the federal capital, which started Dec 10.

Exiled Turkish journalist, mother of two: I don’t know how I’ll see them again
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Ottoman Turkish exiled journalist Arzu Yildiz, who escaped her 2016 jail sentence, has not seen her two daughters since then, saying that if she goes back, she will lose her freedom, Ottoman Turkish news site Ahval reported on Monday.

Yildiz, who used to work for a pro-government news publication in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
and supported the ruling Justice and Development Party, now criticized President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
who was the reason behind her sentencing and exile.

In her interview with The Global Post, in January 2014, Yildiz broke a major story revealing that three Ottoman Turkish intelligence agency trucks had been stopped and searched in Adana, and had reportedly been delivering weapons to radical groups in Syria.

Erdogan had insisted that the trucks were ferrying aid to Turkmen in Syria, and ordered the arrest of the publication’s editor Can Dundar and Ankara bureau chief Erdem Gul, who were later tossed in the slammer

in May 2016 for five years for "revealing state secrets."

Two months later, Yildiz got a 20-month sentence, and lost guardianship of her children who are now eight and three years old.

"I was forced to leave behind my kids, my family," the news site reported her as saying. "I don’t know when or how or if I will ever see them again."

"If I go there, I lose my freedom," she added.

The Committee to Project Journalists had again named Turkey as the world’s leading jailer of journalists last week, putting 73 behind bars in 2017.

Benghazi security chief fired due to lawlessness in the city
[Libya Observer] The Interior Minister of the Interim Government in eastern Libya Ibrahim Bushanaf has fired the chief of security directorate of Benghazi Salah Huwaidi and replaced him with Adel al-Erifi.

The dismissal decision of Saturday also tasked Huwaidi with a new position - a security chief of Suluq Gaminis; two towns near Benghazi.

Huwaidi was given the sack because of the recent lawlessness in Benghazi with him sitting idly by not caring about the residents' safety.

The fired chief was appointed last May as he was already occupying another post; the director of general department of criminal investigation.

Benghazi has seen an unprecedented wave of violence and crimes as well as armed robberies by button men lately.

Last Thursday, a Benghazi court and Public Prosecution building were attacked by button men who wanted to release suspects under trial and interrogation.

In last November, the Interior Minister of the Interim Government gave the green light for using force to foil any gangs' attacks on security, police and other governmental buildings after Benina cop shoppe was attacked by button men to release drug pushers.

Bolivia's Morales ignores unconstitutional accusations in reelection bid
[PULSE.NG] Despite opposition criticism of his attempts to circumvent the constitution, Bolivian President Evo Morales retains widespread public support.

Morales has been in power since 2006, winning three elections already despite Bolivia's 2009 constitution, which he himself promulgated, limiting presidents to two consecutive terms in office.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the country's constitutional court, filled with government loyalists and having already ruled in Morales's favor by allowing him to stand for re-election in 2014, has rejected 11 appeals against his seeking a fourth term.

Strikes and protest marches led by opposition groups have failed to deter Morales, the country's first ever indigenous president.

He tried to change the constitution in 2016 to allow him to seek unlimited terms in office but narrowly lost a referendum on the subject.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
his government rejected the results and the constitutional court backed him, saying that it was his human right to seek reelection.

He is due to stand in his own Movement for Socialism (MAS) party's primary in January after the constitutional court rejected the appeals attempting to block him from doing so.

Already the longest-serving president in Bolivia's history, Morales would remain in power for 19 years should he win next year's election and serve a fourth term from 2020-2025.

Protests have extended to hunger strikes in some of Bolivia's major cities, though.

"We're in the fifth day of a hunger strike and many people have joined," said Juan Flores, a civil leader in the Cochabamba region.

Sirte celebrates second anniversary of liberation from ISIS
[Libya Observer] al-Bunyan al-Marsous Operation military leaders and fighters, officials from Sirte municipality held a ceremony on Monday at Ouagadougou Hall in the city amid no attendees from government officials - parliament, high council of state and presidential council.

"We have invited officials from the parliament, high council of state and presidential council - especially those who represent Sirte - but nobody turned up." The front man for the municipality of Sirte Mohammed al-Amyal said.

"Only representatives of Harawa municipality showed up out of the invitations to all Libyan municipalities." He added.

The commander of al-Bunyan al-Marsous Operation Bashir al-Gadi was there along with several military officials from the central region and Sirte.

The presidential council issued Monday a statement to commemorate the second anniversary of liberating Sirte from ISIS, saying that liberation didn't terminate the terrorist group once and for all in Libya, calling for caution.

"There are still some terrorist cells waiting to strike and carry out criminal operations in the county," the statement reads.

It also urged for uniting Libya's army under a civilian executive authority.

Sirte was liberated by al-Bunyan al-Marsous Operation in 2016 and on December 17 of that year exactly, the head of the presidential council Fayez al-Sirraj announced that the city was fully freed from the faceless myrmidons after over seven months of fierce festivities.

Taliban meet US officials in United Arab Emirates
[Al Jazeera] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
held a meeting on Monday with American officials in the latest attempt to bring a negotiated end to Afghanistan's 17-year war.

The meeting was held in the United Arab Emirates and involved Saudi, Pak, and Emirati representatives, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement on Twitter.

A US State Department spokesperson said the meetings in Abu Dhabi are part of efforts to promote an intra-Afghan dialogue towards ending the conflict in Afghanistan.

"We have long said that the war in Afghanistan will only end when Afghans sit together with mutual respect and acceptance to discuss a political roadmap for their future," the spokesperson said.

"Special Representative [Zalmay] Khalilzad has in the past met, and will continue to meet with all interested parties, including the Taliban, to support a negotiated settlement to the conflict."

UN, Palestinians appeal for aid after US funding cuts
[Al Jazeera] The United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
and the Paleostinian Authority have appealed for $350m in aid for Paleostinians in 2019, saying they needed more but had to be "realistic" following major aid cuts by the United States.

The UN said the appeal, down from $539 million in 2018, was due to a lack of available donor funds to support 1.4 million Paleostinians through more than 200 projects.

Earlier this year, the US cut almost all of its aid to Paleostinians, having previously provided around $500 million a year through different mechanisms including the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees, UNRWA.
