Hyperventilating About The Wall
[DallasNews] BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK - It took years for visitors to Big Bend to once again ride in a rowboat to cross the Rio Grande and enjoy homemade tacos and beer in the tiny Mexican village of Boquillas del Carmen.
Montezuma never took revenge on progressive tourists.
The 2013 reopening of the privately held border crossing was an emotional moment for residents on both sides of the border after an informal crossing was shut down after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
We all feel much safer now. No one worries about bad guys sneaking across the border. Right?
President-elect Donald Trump's promise to build a big wall along the 2,000-mile border has residents and visitors alike worried. A wall, locals say, would harm tourism and threaten conservation and renewed efforts to create a binational protected area straddling the border, something critics say in a time of border security concerns is unrealistic.
Some of us learned months ago, at Rantburg, that a wall doesn't need to be continuous to be effective.
"The idea of putting a wall up from Brownsville to San Diego can't be discounted," said Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, the union representing Border Patrol agents. "We can look at each sector of the border and decide. Are we able to control an area without a fence? If the answer is yes, then we can look at that ," said Moran. "Security really has to come first."

Opponents, however, argue that a wall would destroy the park's scenic beauty and threaten wildlife, including the return of the black bear to Texas. They also say it would do little to enhance security or deter illegal immigration. The park, which shares 118 miles of border with Mexico, is likely to become part of the debate if Trump tries to make good on his promise of a border wall.
But we might not need a wall there. Undeterred, The Media plows on.
"A big wall in Big Bend would basically destroy the wilderness quality Big Bend has protected." said a member of the Greater Big Bend Coalition, a nonprofit leading the effort to create a binational park or protected area.
How about a little wall? Some concertina wire? A minefield, maybe - they don't take much space!
The Dallas Morning News in 1938 reported on the Big Bend International Peace Park proposal. President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote to Mexico's President Manuel Avila Camacho in 1944, the year the national park was created, to say Big Bend would not be complete until "both sides of the Rio Grande form one great international park."
Oh, I see. So put the wall on the south side of the great International Park!

Campus attack could be latest terror case in heartland state
[FoxNews] Authorities are investigating terrorism as a possible motive in the car-and-knife attack on the Ohio State University campus, the latest in a series of cases involving young men who apparently became radicalized in the heartland state.

Christopher Lee Cornell a.k.a. Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah, 22, a Cincinnati-area native faces sentencing Monday for a plot to assault the U.S. Capitol in support of the Islamic State group. Munir Abdulkader, 22, of the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester Township, was sentenced Nov. 23 to 20 years for an IS-involved plot to kill a military veteran and attack a police station.

In Columbus, Aaron T. Daniels, 20, was arrested in early November at the airport on his way, authorities said, to fly to Libya to fight for the Islamic State.

China lodges protest after Trump call with Taiwan president - That didn't take long.
[Reuters] China lodged a diplomatic protest on Saturday after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke by phone with President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan, but blamed the self-ruled island Beijing claims as its own for the "petty" move.

The 10-minute telephone call with Taiwan's leadership was the first by a U.S. president-elect or president since President Jimmy Carter switched diplomatic recognition from Taiwan to China in 1979, acknowledging Taiwan as part of "one China".

China's Foreign Ministry said it had lodged "stern representations" with what it called the "relevant U.S. side", urging the careful handling of the Taiwan issue to avoid any unnecessary disturbances in ties.

"The one China principle is the political basis of the China-U.S. relationship," it said.

The wording implied the protest had gone to the Trump camp, but the ministry provided no explanation.

Gov. Chris Christie Signs Bill to Put Armed, Retired Cops in Schools for Security
[Breitbart] New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) has signed legislation that will allow schools and colleges to hire armed, retired police officers to serve as security to protect students and teachers alike.

Christie’s signature comes during the very week in which a Somali refugee drove a car into a group of pedestrians, then chased unarmed students with a knife at Ohio State University.

According to NJ.com, the legislation, S86, allows schools and colleges to hire retired police officers as "special law enforcement officers."

Christie "conditionally vetoed" S86 two months ago because the first version did not require the retired officers to undergo "specialized training covering security issues that routinely arise in the school setting."

Seems to me 'possession', 'assault with/without a weapon' and 'intent to distribute' are also righteous laws that already exist for a reason and should be enforced. Leniency for "kids that don't understand" has one or more parents as accessories, perhaps 'premeditated' if they themselves are 'negligent'.

A lot of good laws, which if applied to 'first time offenders' will reduce the copycat cascade.

Do these old dudes still have arrest powers so they can engage with the feral kiddies without fear of DOJ civil suit retaliation?

Detroit: New indictment against terror suspect
Moved to P. 2: WoT Background/Politics because a search of the Rantburg archives revealed this is a continuing court case, not the initial arrest.

-- trailing wife at 4:10 pm.m ET
[DetroitNews] The FBI believes Detroit terror suspect Sebastian Gregerson and a Maryland imam are involved in a conspiracy to commit violent jihad in support of the Islamic State, according to sealed federal court records obtained by The Detroit News.

Detroit terror suspect Sebastian Gregerson was indicted Thursday on a new charge alleging he bought explosives and planned to use them to kill people in an unspecified attack.

The new indictment, filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Detroit, reveals publicly what was alleged in sealed FBI search warrant affidavits obtained in September by The Detroit News.

The indictment, however, does not repeat allegations that a Maryland imam being investigated by the FBI financed part of Gregerson’s weapons arsenal of grenades, AK-47s, handguns, rifles, a shotgun and thousands of rounds of ammunition. In the sealed affidavits, an FBI counterterrorism investigator said agents believed Gregerson and Maryland Imam Suleiman Bengharsa were plotting violent jihad.

The indictment adds two new charges, including receipt of explosive materials with intent to harm — a 10-year felony.

The investigation emerged July 31 when Gregerson, 30, aka Abdurrahman Bin Mikaayl, was arrested in Monroe after allegedly buying fragmentation grenades from an undercover FBI agent and amassing an arsenal of weapons.

The grenades contained 26 ounces of TNT and another explosive similar to the type used by underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in the failed Christmas Day 2009 terror attack aboard a Detroit-bound airliner.

After receiving the grenades, Gregerson was immediately arrested, according to the FBI. He is being held without bond at the federal prison in Milan pending trial.

The investigation spans at least three states and focused on allegations Gregerson was plotting an attack in support of the Islamic State.

In an exclusive September interview with The News, Bengharsa of Clarksburg, Maryland, laughed away most of the FBI’s allegations, which he called “ridiculous,” and denied being an Islamic State supporter.

“No, no, no, that is absolutely untrue,” Bengharsa, 59, said during a phone interview with The News in September. “It might appear that way. I am an advocate of the United States and the West getting the hell out of the Middle East and the Muslim world.”

Gregerson’s court-appointed lawyer David Tholen has said his client is merely a gun enthusiast, hunter and survivalist who has no criminal record. The firearms in question were bought legally, he added.

He also challenged the government to file terror charges if agents believed Gregerson was plotting an attack.

“I have asked the government to provide me with the information supporting the new charges,” Tholen wrote in an email Friday to The News. “I really cannot comment until I have reviewed that information.”

Obama reportedly considering launching his own blog media company
[Hot Air] He’s been the biggest celebrity in the world since spring 2008. Was there really any doubt which field he’d choose after public office?

A month ago it looked like we’d be getting a third Obama term as president along with Trump TV. A month later it turns out we’re getting a first Trump term along with ... Obama TV?

President Barack Obama has been discussing a post-presidential career in digital media and is considering launching his own media company, according to multiple sources who spoke on background because they were not authorized to speak for the president.

Obama considers media to be a central focus of his next chapter, these sources say, though exactly what form that will take -- a show streaming on Netflix, a web series on a comedy site or something else -- remains unclear. Obama has gone so far as to discuss launching his own media company, according to one source with knowledge of the matter, although he has reportedly cooled on the idea of late...

Depending on what form it takes, a hard dive into media could also put Obama at odds with presidential precedent. For decades, former presidents have followed a tradition of remaining quiet about their successors in public. During his recent visit to Peru, Obama said he would uphold that convention after leaving office, but also hinted he might speak out when he feels necessary. "If there are issues that have less to do with the specifics of some legislative proposal or battle or go to core questions about our values and ideals, and if I think that it’s necessary or helpful for me to defend those ideals, I’ll examine it when it comes," Obama told reporters.

"A web series on a comedy site." Imagine this guy replacing Zach Galifianakis on "Between Two Ferns." We’re approaching a media singularity in which the only faces we ever see on a screen are Obama’s and Trump’s, with O destined to interview President Trump for his new platform circa 2018. And afterward that’s the only thing that American television will show. Forever.

His "media company" will be based online, I’m sure. Cable TV is far too stodgy and passe for a guy whose brand is being "next stage," especially after Al Gore tried and failed miserably to turn Current TV (remember that?) into a leading voice of the left. There’s also a question of whether O would want a leading role or if he’d prefer to operate behind the scenes, as figurehead. If his face is the face of the platform and it fails, that opens him up to "America’s tired of Obama" storylines. And at the moment, his personal invincibility is really all that’s left to his legacy. His party lies in ruins at the federal and state level and his signature domestic achievement is on the chopping block, but he’ll always have those two landslides in 2008 and 2012. America loves Obama, even if it hates pretty much everything he touches. If he’s going to start handling media properties, maybe he’ll want to leave as few fingerprints as possible.

5. Republican control of 31 state houses

Comey's FBI Needs to Investigate Violent Democratic Tantrums
h/t Instapundit
It’s time for the FBI to conduct a detailed investigation into the violence and political thuggery that continue to mar the presidential election’s aftermath. A thorough probe of the protests--to include possible ties to organizations demanding vote recounts--will give the Bureau’s integrity-challenged director, James Comey, a chance to sandblast his sullied badge.

Director Comey must also include "elector intimidation" on his post-election investigation list. Reports that members of the Electoral College are being harassed and threatened by angry, vicious (and likely Democratic Party) malcontents require Comey’s quick and systematic attention.

Texas Gov: Sanctuary Campuses Will Lose State Funding
[Daily Caller] Texas Gov. Greg Abbot says the state will cut off funding to any public school that declares itself a "sanctuary campus" for illegal immigrants.

Abbot made the announcement Thursday via Twitter, in response to a petition effort in the state by students seeking to have their universities protect illegal immigrants. Abbott made it clear such a move wouldn’t fly in Texas.

Following Donald Trump’s election victory, thousands of students around the country held classroom walkouts in which they called on administrators to declare their campuses havens for illegal immigrants. Several public colleges have already answered the call, including the University of California and California State University.

Generally, these campuses have promised that their police forces won’t cooperate with any federal efforts to enforce immigration law, and that student records won’t be turned over to the government without a specific court order. Some schools have also pledged to ban immigration enforcement officials from campus unless they possess a warrant.

All 3 members of the Republican Jewish Coalition Back ‘Mad Dog' Mattis
[Breitbart] The Republican Jewish Coalition, the most powerful organization among politically conservative Jews, is formally backing the nomination of retired Marine Gen. James "Mad Dog" Mattis as Secretary of Defense.

In a press statement, RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said:

"The selection of General Mattis to serve as Secretary of Defense is a smart and important decision by President-elect Trump. Throughout his career, General Mattis has made the protection of the United States, our assets, and our allies around the world, his top priority. General Mattis believes in a strong U.S. military posture and understands of the threats we face, like a newly aggressive Iran. He has the type of worldview the leader our Defense Department needs.

"For decades, bipartisan national security and foreign policy experts, representatives of our allied nations, respected foreign policy think tanks, and pro-Israel organizations have praised General Mattis’ work. We are happy to stand with them and fully support this appointment."

Government
Acquisition Chief: LCS Program 'Broke' the Navy
The Navy's littoral combat ship is costing taxpayers billions more than budgeted, failing survivability assessments, and may never live up to the original vision for the program, a panel of Navy and government oversight officials told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday.

The hearing, which focused on continued testing and acquisition of the small surface vessels, came at the close of a 12-month period in which five of the eight littoral combat ships in service have suffered major mechanical and engineering casualties. Navy officials have ordered dramatic program overhauls and reviews of ship employment and training in response to the breakdowns.

And despite the program's underperformance, costs continue to skyrocket, testified Paul Francis, managing director of acquisition and sourcing management at the Government Accountability Office. The ship's unit cost has more than doubled from $220 million to $478 million apiece, and plans to conduct a "block buy" of 12 redesigned littoral combat ships, to be called frigates, will put taxpayers on the hook for nearly $14 billion, he wrote in a GAO report released Thursday.

#2  We had a shipyard here in the state that refused to bid on any further Navy contracts. The last contract they had with the Navy involved changes in specifications when bout 75 to 80% complete. Complete redesigns of systems after they were installed. If grew to be more headache than it was worth. I suspect this is also part of the problem with the F-35 along with the "trying to be all things". The will still bid on contracts for the Coasties and the Army (the Corps of Engineers has a pretty substantial amount of small craft) but the Navy can look elsewhere as I understand it. I wonder who many officers from Commander to Flag grade see procurement as a bridge to a secure retirement. We don't have a Navy to provide commands or ticket punches for ring knockers from Canoe U*. We have a Navy to serve the national interests of the United States of America

*The same goes for the rest of the services. Nor are they there to provide careers for PAOs, "diversity experts" or any of a number of career paths. The Departments of the Navy; Army and Air Force may need some of these things to function in todays society but their core function is to protect and serve the interests of the USA

Trump Speaks With Formosa's Tsai Ing-wen, China likely butthurt
[NYT] WASHINGTON -- President-elect Donald J. Trump spoke by telephone with Taiwan’s president on Friday, a striking break with nearly four decades of diplomatic practice that could precipitate a major rift with China even before Mr. Trump takes office.

Mr. Trump’s office said he spoke with the Taiwanese president, Tsai Ing-wen, "who offered her congratulations."

He is believed to be the first president or president-elect who has spoken to a Taiwanese leader since 1979, when the United States severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan after its recognition of the People’s Republic of China.

In the statement, Mr. Trump’s office said the two leaders noted that "close economic, political, and security ties" exist between Taiwan and the United States. The statement also said Mr. Trump "congratulated President Tsai on becoming president of Taiwan

Pakistani troops will respond with 'full force' to Indian ceasefire violations: COAS Gen Bajwa
More saber-rattling. Will the Heathen Hindoo take Lahore this time?
[DAWN] Newly-appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday said that Pak troops will respond to ceasefire violations by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC) with 'full force', according to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations.

During a visit to the 10 Corps Rawalpindi and troops at forward locations along the LoC, Gen Bajwa said, "Each violation of any kind must be responded to with full force in the most effective manner."

The Army chief was briefed on the security situation at the LoC "in view of recent violations and escalation by Indian troops and Pakistain's own response," the ISPR said.

The COAS said India's 'aggressive posture' aims solely to divert the world's attention away from 'atrocities' being committed by Indian troops in held Kashmire.

Promoting anti-science via textbooks
[DAWN] A BIOLOGY textbook is normally expected to teach biology as science, meaning a scientifically based study of the structure, growth and origin of living things. Kenya to finish Building Wall Along Somali Border
Silly Kenyans -- haven't their betters educated them that walls don't work?
The fencing of three kilometres of the Kenya-Somalia border is complete after the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) took over its construction over two months ago.

The project, initiated by the Ministry of Interior in 2015 as a wall project, has since been switched to wire fencing along the porous border. Concrete poles joined with barbed wire, wire mesh and razor wire have been erected on the three kilometre stretch.

The project which was initiated after the April terror attack on Garissa University College stalled after the National Youth Service (NYS) personnel working on it downed their tools due unpaid dues.

Speaking while inspecting the ongoing works on Thursday, Maj Gen K T Chepkuto from the KDF Engineering Department said a stretch of 30 kilometres will be complete in the next four months.

“We will do the first 30 kilometres within the stipulated time since people are energised,” he said.

He said KDF is working closely with the Somalia National Army (SNA) to ensure the work is done peacefully.

“The only possible challenge could be from Bulahawa but SNA are working with us to ensure the project progresses swiftly,” he said.

Mandera Governor Ali Roba lauded the progress made in two months. Earlier, he had questioned the national government’s commitment in securing the county.

“We are happy with the progress of the security sensitisation programme as visible work has been done unlike in the last two months when we visited the site,” he said. He said the fencing is not intended to lock anybody out of Mandera but it is about security by restricting human access only through identified entry and exit points.

“We want our brothers from Somalia to do business with us through the customs border and we can be able to keep unwanted elements of society out,” said Mr Roba.

Mr Roba said the county’s concern is fencing the 30-kilometre stretch between Mandera Town and Somalia’s Bulahawa.

“Our request was reenergising and expediting the work for the first 30 kilometres to secure Mandera Town and there is hope for us,” said Mr Roba.

He said once the Mandera Town stretch is covered, terrorists will not be able to access Mandera.

Lafey MP Isaack Shaaban, a member of the parliamentary security committee said the progress is commendable.

“We would wish to have borderless countries in Africa to enable trade but due to challenges posed by Somalia, we are safeguarding Mandera,” said Mr Shaaban.

New gas reserves found in Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan is not an OPEC member. Let's hope that they can sell this NG at a profit at below $50 a barrel equivalent.
Turkmen Geology State Corporation has discovered new rich gas deposits in the exploitation well at the Chelekbay site located in the north-western part of the giant Galkynysh field, the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan said in a message Dec. 1.

"The upper layers of the well produce more than 1 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, according to the experts’ estimates," the message said.

According to Gaffney, Cline & Associates, which audits Turkmenistan’s Galkynysh field and the adjacent Yashlar field, these two sites have an estimated total reserve of 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas. With the newly discovered Garakel field, the block's reserves rise to 27.4 trillion cubic meters.

leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), should be released unconditionally.

The Abuja division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria on Friday also ruled that Zakzaky's wife, Zeenat, should be released.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole said the court had come to the conclusion that the Shia holy man and his wife "have been kept against their desires, thereby resulting in the breach of their rights to liberty."

The judge also stated that he had ordered the "immediate release" of the two "because the family house in Zaria was destroyed between December 12 and December 14, 2015."

The prominent holy man and his wife were taken into custody on December 14, 2115, after deadly festivities between the supporters of the IMN movement and Nigerian troops.

Nearly 350 members of the Shia movement were killed in the festivities. The sheikh was brutally injured and his house was reportedly destroyed by the army in the incident.

Venezuela rejects suspension from Mercosur trade bloc
[Iran Press TV] Venezuela has lambasted its suspension from the South American economic bloc Mercosur as a "coup" launched against Caracas.

"This is a coup d'etat to Mercosur and constitutes a very grave attack on Venezuela," said Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez at a presser on Friday, adding that she does not recognize the action and considers it as illegal.

Rodriguez’s remarks came hours after foreign ministers of Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, in a joint letter addressed to the Venezuelan Forging Ministry, suspended the oil-rich country from the bloc, arguing that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s leftist administration has missed a December 1 deadline to comply with the pact’s democratic standards and trade bylaws.

Mercosur’s member states, led by Brazil, added that Caracas would be required to renegotiate its membership, four years after its membership became effective in the sub-regional bloc.

The new conservative, market-friendly administrations across the region are at considerable odds with Maduro’s crackdown on the opposition. Recently, Brazil and Argentina even spearheaded an effort to prevent Venezuela from taking its turn as the bloc’s rotating leader.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
Venezuela insists that it is still the group's rotating president, while Argentina is now slated to take the 25-year-old group’s six-month presidency.

Denmark to pull fighter jets out of İncirlik
Demark announced on Dec. 2 that it would not extend a six-month mission for seven F-16 jets deployed at the İncirlik Air Base in the southern Turkish province of Adana, currently participating in the U.S.-led coalition’s fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

The seven jets, four of them operational at any one time, were seeing combat and also were flying surveillance and reconnaissance missions over Syria.

Denmark has also provided the coalition with a C-130J transport aircraft and 400 military personnel, including 60 special forces troops. According to the Danish government, the transport aircraft will also be withdrawn from the operation.

“We have decided to withdraw the Danish fighter jets as planned,” newly-named Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said, according to The Local website.

“Instead of extending the mission we are sending an additional 20 to 21 troops,” Samuelsen added.

Defense Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen also said the new troops would bring engineering and construction skills to the operation.

“They will train Iraqi forces in, among other things, de-mining operations and will help our current contribution within training,” Frederiksen said in a statement.

Back in June, Denmark dispatched seven F-16 jets and 120 military personnel to Turkey. The jets had first begun bombing ISIL targets in August.

Voter fraud uncovered in Nevada, registered to vacant lots and still voted
Today, Megan Barth interviewed Republican Assembly Candidate for District 15, Stan Vaughan, with actual proof of massive voter fraud in his Clark County district. Vaughan brought into the NEWSMAXTV Las Vegas studio and laid it out for all to see, US postal service certified returned mail from 9,200 voters in District 15. Many of the people who were listed as deceased are still on the active voter rolls today. Many of the returned mail came back with 5 people living in a vacant lot with no mail receptacle.

Edward Snowden, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and dozens of movie stars were registered to vote in District 15 according to Mr. Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan tested a sample of 200 people of the 9,200 return mail and found that 185 of those had indeed voted.

Mr. Vaughan and many others have testified that they went to the polls to vote only to be told they had voted already. They were given a provisional ballots which would only be counted if the total vote count was within 1% according to poll supervisors.

According to Mr. Vaughan, there were other serious voting system irregularities he documented, including early voting numbers flipping day to day. A total number of 17,086 votes were cast in District 15 for both Republican and Democrat candidates. 9,200 voters on the voter rolls who, by law, should not be on the voter rolls is a huuge discrepancy. Vaughan reported the certified returned mail issue to Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, who according to Vaughan, sent the issue back to Clark County to investigate itself.

President Donald Trump lost by only 27,000 votes statewide in Nevada. So 9,200 fraudulent voters in one small Assembly district equals 1/3 almost of the total margin. 9,200 votes was the margin by which Question 1 passed.

Megan Barth said "The Main Stream Media attacked Donald Trump this week for claiming there were millions of illegal votes cast. Well it appears Nevada, which has voted for the winner of the Presidency for the past 108 years may have been stolen and must be investigated by the Feds. Not Obama feds but incoming Attorney General Jeff Session must investigate this issue."

'No One Is Questioning the Victory!' Stephanopoulos Blows Up at Conway on GMA
[NEWSBUSTERS.ORG] Friday’s Good Morning America quickly got heated during a hostile interview with anchor George Stephanopoulos and Trump’s Senior Advisor Kellyanne Conway. Right from the start, Stephanopoulos parroted the same argument Clinton’s team has been using, that Trump needed to heal the divide in America because he lost the popular vote. Stephanopoulos bristled after Conway noted that the media is only questioning Trump’s camp about the election results, instead of Clinton’s, after hyping the importance of the electoral college pre-election. "No one is questioning the victory," the ABC anchor complained to Conway, trying to change the topic when Conway brought up the recount effort led by the left.

The interview began with ABC playing a clip of Trump and Clinton aides arguing with each other last night in a leaked audiotape. In the tape, Clinton aides argue with Conway that they should’ve won the election since they had more of the popular vote. Stephanopoulos took off from there, using the Clinton’s camp same argument to ask Conway the following question:

STEPHANOPOULOS: It is a fact that president-elect trump lost the popular vote. How does president-elect trump reach out to that majority of voters who did not support him?

Conway responded that Trump was reaching out to people in "many different ways" and keeping on his promise from election night to be "president of all Americans" before noting that Clinton and Obama had previously harped on Trump to accept the election results but once Clinton lost, they can’t accept the results themselves. Stephanopoulos then shifted gears and demanded Conway answer for making a "false statement" about millions of illegal aliens voting in the election:

It's been estimated that there are 12 million illegal aliens in this country. That number is most likely lower than the real number and the real number is growing every day. Does Stephanopoulous, the smarmy pieletjie, really expect us to believe that none of them voted? This is the type of fork tongue creep who would scream bloody murder if we try to pass a law that requires proof of citizenship to register to vote and then requires photo ID to actually vote.

Michigan's attorney general acts to stop recount
[ISRAELNATIONALNEWS] Michigan's attorney general, Bill Schuette, announced Friday he would file suit to stop a recount in the state requested by Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein, CNN reports.

"Today I am filing suit to stop @DrJillStein's frivolous, expensive recount request," Schuette wrote on Twitter.

The state's top law enforcement official said that he had "filed an emergency motion with the Mich Supreme Court to bypass the Court of Appeals to ensure a timely process."

Stein on Wednesday officially filed a request for a recount in Michigan, where Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
was named the winner earlier this week.

In a statement announcing the move, Stein said the recounts are necessary to build trust in the country's election system.

Schuette's office later put out a statement explaining the motion.

"Michigan voters rejected Stein's candidacy by massive margins but her refusal to accept that state-verified result poses an expensive and risky threat to hard-working taxpayers and abuses the intent of Michigan law," Schuette said, according to CNN.

Carlos Danger too broke to stay in sex rehab
[PAGESIX] Anthony Carlos Danger Weiner
...aka Hot Dog Tony, the remarkably offensive sex maniac six-term New York congressman who resigned in 2011, then decided everybody had forgotten by 2013, when he decided to run for mayor of New York City...
is apparently so broke that he had to cut short his rehabilitation for sexting addiction at a Tennessee ranch.

"His family wanted him to stay 90 days, but he had to leave because he ran out of money," one source told me.
Couldn't he just apply for a grant from the Clinton Foundation?
It is believed Weiner -- known as Carlos Danger by some crotch-shot recipients -- was billed $25,000 for the 35-day program at the Recovery Ranch.

"His parents took out a mortgage on their house to pay for his rehab," my source said.

The former congressman is unemployable and potentially in debt. The Post reported Friday he’s been hit with $65,000 in fines for improper use of campaign funds -- money it sounds like he doesn’t have.

Trump team takes issue with Pakistani version of phone talk
[DAWN] The Trump transition team has issued its own version of the Sharif-Trump telephone call, saying that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
and US president-elect Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
did have a ’productive conversation’ on Wednesday, but it lacked the "flowery language" included in the Pak version of this talk.

"President-elect Trump and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spoke ... had a productive conversation about how the United States and Pakistain will have a strong working relationship in the future," said the Trump transition team in a rare readout of his conversation with a foreign leader.

"President-elect Trump also noted that he is looking forward to a lasting and strong personal relationship with Prime Minister Sharif," the statement added.

An unidentified adviser to the Trump team said the Pak readout of the talk had "committed the president-elect to more than what he meant".

Other members of the Trump team, quoted in media, pointed out that the Paks overplayed Mr Trump’s offer to play "a role" in resolving Pakistain’s disputes with India.

Imran Farooq murder: ATC issues arrest warrants of three suspects
[DAWN] An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Friday issued arrest warrant of three suspects allegedly involved in Imran Farooq murder case.

Arrest warrant of Kashif Khan Kamran, Muhammad Anwar and Iftikhar Hussain were issued by the ATC on the request of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

FIA had plead that three alleged suspects were directly involved in killing of senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement
...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead...
(MQM) leader Imran Farooq.

According to the documents available with Dawn.com, the FIR against the above mentioned suspects was registered in September 2010.

Last month, Khalid Shamim, a key suspect in the murder of Dr Imran Farooq, confessed to his role in the murder and alleged the increasingly hugeAltaf Hussain
..The head of MQM in Pakistain, who has lived in London and hasn't laid eyes on Pakistain since Caesar made corporal. Judging from the size of him,he may be a Hutt...
was also involved.

"September 16 was chosen as the date for Farooq’s murder as it was meant to be a gift for Altaf Hussain on his birthday," said Shamim in his confessional statement.

He added that a sum of 25,000 pounds were sent to him through Iftikhar Hussain, which were spent on travel arrangements.
25,000 pounds will pay for some pretty nifty hotels and air travel.

A roll of the dice
[DAWN] WHEN a child says he is bored in class and refuses to go to school, few parents would allow him to stay at home.

But what happens when Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
won’t attend parliamentary sessions because he believes that the "National Assembly is the most boring place on earth", and "The house is meaningless"? These were the views he expressed in an interview in last month’s Herald magazine.

When asked about his poor attendance record as documented by the Pakistain Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency, his reply was equally superficial: "Performing in the National Assembly is like winning a poker game on the Titanic. The ship is going down, but you are winning your cards."

The PTI leader has often expressed his admiration for British parliamentary democracy. But perhaps he is unaware that just as in our assembly, sessions in the House of Commons are often dull, and attendance can be sparse.

But if an MP were to say openly that he was bored by the proceedings, he would be attacked in the media -- as well as in his constituency -- and asked to resign if he couldn’t do his job. MPs in Britannia, in addition to attending parliamentary sessions, are required to meet voters in their constituencies who have problems relating to government departments.

If a student doesn’t go to school or college, he is rusticated unless he has a very good reason for his absence. And if an employee doesn’t go to work, he is sacked. Our assemblies must be the only institutions that go on paying members even if they don’t turn up for months.

Afghanistan
Badakhshan To Be Cleared Of Insurgents In Winter
[Tolo News] Security officials in Badakhshan on Friday said they will launch a large-scale military operation to eliminate forces of Evil in the northeastern province in the upcoming winter season.
Way more "we're gonnas" than "we dids."
"We have prepared plans for military operations. We will clear 90 percent of Badakhshan of forces of Evil in the next three months," said Gul Mohammad Bedar, deputy governor of the province.
"Yeppers. We're really gonna do it!"
Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Nunzio had his hands full of angry bleached blonde...
Security chief of Badakhshan's Police Headquarters, Mohammad Nabi Bayan, said the coming winter season is a good opportunity to eradicate Death Eaters.

"The upcoming winter [season] is a good time for launching military operation. We will carry out a large-scale military operation to clear the province of terrorists. Insurgents cannot stand against security forces in the province," he said.

A number of army commanders in Badakhshan meanwhile said the winter mission will be backed by the Afghan National Army (ANA) helicopters.

"We have warned forces of Evil to quit insurgency and join the grinding of the peace processor before we launch our military operation; otherwise, they [militants] will be eliminated. The Afghan National Army choppers will also take part in the mission," said Ghulam Sakhi Kaftan, commander of ANA's 4th Regiment in Badakhshan.

The remarks come after reports that many parts of Yumgan and Warduj districts in Badakhshan are still under control of the Taliban.

BSF jawan hurt in sniper fire
[Daily Excelsior] Pak troops today violated the ceasefire by firing on forward posts along the LoC in Rajouri district, leaving a BSF jawan injured.

"At 10 AM, a BSF constable deployed at a forward location at LoC in Bhimber Gali sector of Rajouri district sustained an injury due to single round fire (sniper fire) from Pakistain Forward Defence location", sources said.

The injured BSF jawan has been identified as Kishen Halkar.

The condition of the jawan is stable.

The fresh ceasefire violation by Pak troops has taken place after a lull of over one week along the LoC.

Eleven persons including six Army personnel, four BSF jawans and a civilian porter working with Army were maimed in Pakistain shelling and firing in Nowshera, Manjakote, Balakote, Mendhar and Gurez sectors on November 23.

A total of 26 people, including 14 security personnel and 12 civilians, have been killed and more than 83 suffered injuries in Pak shelling and firing along IB and LoC in Jammu after surgical strikes.

Africa North
IS uses female suicide bombers in Sirte
[Libya Herald] At least two females who seemed to be civilians surrendering to Bunyan Marsous forces, blew themselves up today after being brought inside BM lines, killing four fighters and injuring more than a dozen others.

One of the women had brought two children with her, reported Rooters, but did not detonate her explosives until the infants had been taken to an ambulance. The children were reportedly hungry and dehydrated.

This incident follows the flight of other women from IS positions in recent days, in response to loudhailer calls for civilians to escape while they could. One young Tunisian girl who surrendered earlier this week has had her story of being duped into joining IS given wide publicity by the BM operations room.

Yesterday according to US Africa Command, there were three US air strikes all against terrorist positions. There have now been 470 American raids since August.

On Wednesday a BM commander was reported to have said that his men would be holding back from further advances and loss of life. Though tanks, armoured cars and self-propelled guns continue to be in the front line, the attackers have largely been content to bombard terrorist positions while laying down suppressive fire.

With the capture of each new building, the extent of the IS defences becomes clearer, with networks of bomb shelters, tunnels and communication lines knocked through buildings. Some of this labyrinth is booby-trapped, a few parts, it seems are well concealed. It is reported that today bandidos Death Eaters started firing from a building that had been taken and supposedly cleared by BM fighters. It is not known if the bandidos Death Eaters had hidden themselves inside the ruins or had later returned to it through tunnels.

Syrian government troops recapture southern town near capital
[Iran Press TV] Syrian army forces have retaken full control of a town near the capital Damascus after foreign-backed gunnies agreed to withdraw from the area and move to bad boy-held areas in the northwestern province of Idlib under a deal with the Damascus government.

The Russian military’s Center for Reconciliation in Syria announced in a statement on Friday that government troops recaptured Khan al-Shih, located about 25 kilometers southwest of Damascus, the previous day.

The statement added that 1,846 murderous Moslems and 1,164 of their relatives have already moved to Idlib, located roughly 300 kilometers (186 miles) north of Damascus, onboard buses provided by the government.

It noted another 100 gunnies and 300 members of their families will head towards Idlib within the next few days.

Khan al-Shih had been under the control of foreign-backed murderous Moslems since 2012.

Australia Passes Bill to Detain Terrorists Indefinitely
[AnNahar] High-risk terror offenders in Australia may now be kept in jail even after serving their sentences, under legislation passed Thursday that strengthens laws to tackle the threat posed by turbans.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull flagged the move in July, prompted by the frequency and severity of attacks around the world.

It will allow Attorney-General George Brandis to apply for an extension 12 months before a sentence expires.

For this to happen, the Supreme Court would need to be satisfied that the offender poses an unacceptable risk of committing a serious terrorism offence if released into the community.

"This bill strengthens the ability of our security agencies to continue to detain somebody if they've committed serious terrorism offences... and they have not been rehabilitated," Justice Minister Michael Keenan told parliament.

"We are not going to allow people who haven't been rehabilitated in prison to be released and then go on to harm our fellow Australians."

The law is similar to arrangements already in place for sex offenders and extremely violent individuals in some states. There would be regular reviews and reassessments.

The passing of the High Risk Terrorist Offenders Bill was opposed by the Greens and Liberal Democrat David Leyonhjelm, but had enough support to pass through the upper house Senate.

Leyonhjelm argued it was an unacceptable erosion of civil liberties.

"We should not be able to effectively impose life imprisonment on someone who was not originally sentenced to life imprisonment," he said.

Keenan said that since September 2014 when Australia's terror alert level was lifted to high, 55 people had been charged as a result of 24 counter-terrorism operations.

"Currently we have 40 people before the courts for terrorism-related offences," he added.

"We've also had four attacks in Australia during this period, and because of the great work of our counter-terrorism authorities, we have stopped a further 11 attacks."

Computer virus attack targeted Saudi government installations
So many possibilities, miscreantwise...
[Ynet] A computer virus attack in mid-November targeted Saudi government bodies and vital installations including the kingdom's transport sector, Saudi state news agency SPA reported on Thursday.

The attack appeared to originate outside the country and was one of "several ongoing cyberattacks targeting government authorities", SPA quoted the National Cyber Security Center, an arm of the Ministry of Interior, as saying.

It did not give further details of the identity of the attacker or the damage that had been done, beyond saying the virus aimed to disrupt servers and plant malicious software in computer systems. A Ministry of Interior front man did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Anti-Trump Forces are Wrong, Electors Have Absolutely No Legal Right To Vote Their ‘Conscience’
[LAWNEWZ] Anti-Trump forces are apparently gearing up for an all out legal war against the Electoral College. They plan to file legal action in all 29 states which have laws that prohibit electors from "voting their conscience." However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
those encouraging electors to abandon the will of the people are wrong, and are violating the basic principles of democracy.

In the seminal decision of Ray v. Blair, the Supreme Court made clear electors act at the privilege of the state that empowers them, and do NOT enjoy any special right to vote as they please.

Article II, section 1 of the Constitution gives states the rights to select their electors as they please, including a right to require party and candidate loyalty, and the concomitant authority to strip an elector of participation in the electoral college for failure to honor that pledge of loyalty to the party nominee. In so doing, the Supreme Court reversed the Alabama state supreme court, and rejected the idea that an elector had any Constitutionally protected right to vote in the electoral college as he or she chose.

Electors only "act by authority of the state." Ray v. Blair, 343 U.S. at 224 (1952). The Constitution itself gives such power to the states without restriction or restraint. "Neither the language of Art. II, § 1, nor that of the Twelfth Amendment forbids a party to require from candidates in its primary a pledge of political conformity with the aims of the party." The "suggestion" of some "assumed" elector choice to ignore the state’s limitations on his office was "impossible to accept" as some intention of the founders. As the court noted: "history teaches" just the opposite, as electors "were expected to support the party nominees.". Indeed, the Supreme Court labeled such faithless electors a "fraudulent invasion" for a reason.

Other legal scholars have recognized the elector as a ministerial office, not a discretionary one, whose authority is constricted to what the state compels of him. The famed scholar Joseph Story himself, as cited by the Supreme Court, referred to the electors as historically treated as "agents" of the state, not independent actors, and faithless electors as "dangerous." (Story wished it were otherwise, but did not let his wishes blind him to the law as it was). Effectively, a state could choose to empower electors, or strip them of any discretionary power, as they saw fit.

Either way, that is a right of the state, not the elector. Supreme Court precedent, legal history, and basic principles of both democracy and agency dictate as much. Those encouraging electors to act outside their authority, nullify their own vote, make perjurers of themselves (for those who signed under oath their pledge of support to their party nominee), and violate the basic precepts of democracy serve neither the law nor democracy. Those electors who even think of such an unlawful coup risk far more.

How I Ended Up In A Psych Ward On Election Night
I found out Donald Trump had won the Electoral College while midstream in providing a urine sample for the emergency psychiatric staff of a New York City public hospital. The unlockable bathroom door in this unescapable wing was ajar, and I could hear the victorious Mike Pence’s sinister Sunday-school baritone taunting me with the truth from the hallway television.

For the preceding witching hours of election night, I had lain in a fetal position amidst a cast of anonymous men nursing their own crises, my hands clasped tightly over my ears. It wasn’t that I minded the howls of the guy nearby who was shackled to his cot and monitored by an unimpressed brood of policemen. Instead, I wanted to spare myself any word of the far greater insanity unfolding beyond the hospital walls.

Drained of tears, too tired to sleep, I stared at the fluorescent ceiling lights --which, indifferent to our suffering, remained on throughout the night -- and endured the passing time by willing my thoughts to vanish into the dull glow. For a second, I imagined someone would burst in and proclaim, "It’s all right, Hillary won!" and I would bound out of bed, awoken from this nightmare.

This was all just a dream, right?

A while before, during the final hour of November 8, I had committed myself to institutional psychiatric care. A generation or two ago they would have said I was suffering a nervous breakdown: catatonic, plagued by involuntary jerking motions (my head furiously shaking "No! "), speech patterns disjointed, weeping uncontrollably.

As far as I could estimate, most of the two dozen or so other men and women were homeless or unstably housed and largely suffered from psychosis.

The psych ward was the floor they couldn’t fall below. Or in political terms, it was the safety net. Mostly black or brown, these were the people at the very bottom of the totem pole, the ones Democrats strive to protect and Republicans see as a burden best left out in the cold. Even I, for all my fortune in life, was there among them in the hospital only thanks to the grace of progressive politics, with my Affordable Care Act marketplace health plan picking up the tab. (Thanks, Obama!)

Magnetic bomb explosion leaves 3 wounded in Kabul city

Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
city earlier this evening, security officials said.

The officials further added that the incident took place in the 3rd police district of the city after a magnetic bomb planted in a police vehicle went off in Golayi Dawa Khana area of the city.

No group including the Taliban bully boyz has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

This comes as two rockets landed in the vicinity of key diplomatic area in Shashdarak area of the city late on Wednesday night.

The officials confirmed Thursday that the rocket attack did not incur any casualties to the local residents or security forces.

Earlier, a deadly suicide kaboom targeted a mosque in the west of Kabul city ten days ago, leaving at least 32 people dead and scores of others maimed.

Europe
Europol warns of new IS terror threats to Europe
[IsraelTimes] EU agency is currently assisting more than 50 counterterrorism investigations across the continent.
And that was the key bit of information in this article. For the rest, look for multiple mass attacks on soft targets, Sudden Jihad Syndrome lone wolves, and probably nothing more complex than guns, knives, cars, and bombs for the forseeable future.
Europol warned Friday that the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group could launch fresh attacks in Europe in the near future, and the agency’s director said police forces across the continent are investigating more than 50 terrorism cases.

Europol -- the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
’s police agency -- said in a grim analysis of IS tactics published Friday that EU countries participating in the US-led coalition fighting the krazed killer group in Syria and Iraq are most at risk.

La Belle France and Belgium are among the European nations that have joined the US-led coalition. Others include Britannia, the Netherlands and Denmark. Germany’s military also is involved, but not in combat operations.

Europol director Rob Wainwright said in an interview that counterterrorism agencies are tackling the threat from IS in cooperation with his Hague-based agency. Europol currently is assisting more than 50 terror investigations by national agencies across the continent, he said.

"That says something about the level of the threat, but also about the level of interconnectedness amongst the counterterrorist community here," Wainwright told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named at Europol’s headquarters.

In the report released Friday, Europol said boom-mobiles and other tactics the Islamic State group uses in Iraq and Syria could also be deployed in Europe. It said past attacks such as those in La Belle France and Belgium over the last two years show that Lions of Islam acting in the name of IS can effectively plan complex attacks.

"Estimates from some intelligence services indicate several dozen people directed by IS may be currently present in Europe with a capability to commit terrorist attacks," according to the report, which draws on counterterrorism intelligence from around Europe as well as media reports and previously publicized calls by IS leaders for attacks.

Despite the warnings, Wainwright expressed optimism that the counterterrorism efforts will likely, over the long term, rein in the threat posed by Islamic State.

"We’re not there yet. I think we will get there. It might be replaced in the future, of course, by another iteration in the international terrorist scene," he said. "So it doesn’t have to be the new normal, but we have to take the right measures, right now, to protect our citizens from the kind of atrocities that unfortunately we’ve suffered in the last two years."

Community leaders also have a role to play in diminishing the threat from IS recruiters and trainers who prey on marginalized youths -- some of whom may have mental health problems or backgrounds in petty crime -- and incite them to carry out attacks, Wainwright said.

"We have to work in the community with faith leaders, with parents, with teachers to try and make sure that these young impressionable minds are not turned so easily," he said.

The Europol report noted a shift in IS attacks from symbolic targets like coppers and military personnel to indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets, such as the attacks a year ago in Gay Paree at a rock concert, the national stadium and bustling sidewalk cafes.

"Indiscriminate attacks have a very powerful effect on the public in general, which is one of the main goals of terrorism: to seriously intimidate a population," according to the report, which concludes the focus on so-called soft targets means that attacking critical infrastructure like power grids and nuclear facilities is "currently not a priority."

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout Montefiore's foot was still stuck and the hound had completely soaked his uniform with slobber...
a police raid in Morocco in February may have thwarted a possible chemical or biological weapons attack by an IS cell, raising the specter that such weapons also could be used in Europe.

The report noted, however, that automatic firearms, knives and vehicles are more easily available and that "the effectiveness, ease of use and access of these weapons will continue to be relevant."

The consensus among intelligence agencies in EU member states is that "the cyber capabilities of terrorist groups are still relatively low," Europol’s report said.

But the document’s authors added that "the possibility of terrorist-affiliated cyber groups engaging in cyber warfare sponsored by Nation States -- those with capacities to engage in this type of attacks -- should not be discounted."
Al Ahram adds:
The 14-page report, an update on methods and tactics used by IS, also said counter-terror experts were concerned that strife-torn Libya could develop into a "second springboard for IS, after Syria, for attacks in the EU and North Africa".

Since the armed revolt five years ago that overthrew dictator Moamer Kadhafi, the North African country has been plagued by violence and political instability.

"Experts expect that IS will start planning and dispatching attacks from Libya if the current phase, in which they are primarily focused on taking territory and dispatching of local enemies, comes to an end."

Europe's security services arrested 667 suspects for suspected Islamist militant activities in 2015, the report added.

The threat is real but a centralized organization 'assisting' local and regional forces is no more effective than efforts of 50 local police forces trying to address a spontaneous international menace.

EU countries participating in the US-led coalition fighting the group in Syria and Iraq are most at risk. Even more so.

India-Pakistan
Kohistan video girls may be dead, probe body tells SC
And here it is, only six years later.
[DAWN] In a damning report submitted to the Supreme Court on Thursday, a commission headed by the district and sessions judge for Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
, Shoaib Khan, expressed fears that the five girls involved in a 2010 video scandal might not be alive.
No! Re-e-e-e-ally?
"The view taken and expressed... is the outcome of human observations, not free from error, maybe right or wrong, and can lead to an inference that either the girls are not alive or they have fled away and gone into missing being well aware of [the] consequences of traditional approach of their elders in such cases," the report said.
That was a pretty mush-mouthed statement, though my opinion is the outcome of human observations, not free from error, maybe right or wrong, yadda yadda and yadda.
The girls in question were Ms Amina, daughter of Sarfaraz, Ms Begum Jan d/o Mubeen, Ms Siran Jan d/o Saeer, Ms Bazeega, wife of Idrees, and Ms Shaheen w/o Habibullah.
May they rest in peace, especially since they didn't go that way.
On Nov 10, a two-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan had ordered the district and sessions judge to visit Sartay, Pallas -- a village in Kohistan district -- along with the local district coppers and a senior woman police officer to find out if the girls were still alive.
No doubt some girls were produced, probably not the girls they were claimed to be.
The directions had been issued by the court on an application filed by Dr Farzana Bari, a human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
activist and director of the gender studies department of Quaid-e-Azam University.
Actually the idea of Islamic gender studies sounds pretty frightening.
Dr Bari was part of a three-member commission that had visited Kohistan back in 2012 to probe into the allegations of murder of the girls shown clapping in a video clip.
Having fun, were they? No wonder they were killed. The brazen hussies dropped their veils, too!
In her fresh statement, Dr Bari had sought a direction for production of the girls before the court in-camera and for verification of their identity by experts.
"Oh, sorry, judge! Can't do it. They seem to have stepped out for a moment!"
The report submitted to the court said that any definite answers about the girls being alive required an exhaustive inquiry to be carried out by government agencies and through forensic means.
"Forensic" would seem to imply DNA testing or something, which if you recalled was pronounced by the Council of Islamic Ideology of Pakistain not to be definitive evidence of rape.
The commission, however, regretted that two of the girls produced before its members were not the girls allegedly visible in the video clip.
"That one seems to have gained quite a bit of weight in the past six years. That one's eye color has changed."
"It would not be unsafe to conclude and presume that other girls produced before us were also not [the] girls visible in the video scandal," the report said.
"Okay, judge. We'll send some more. You see the ones you're looking for, let us know!"
"Now the question arises, whether owing to their non-production before us, would it be safe to hold them dead?
That's a pretty good bet.
Keeping in view the history of the case, failure of the elders in producing the actual girls, especially Siran Jan and Bazeega, before us, the reply [to] the query would be certainly in positive [sic].
Meaning the judge thinks they've been murdered, too.
But contrary to this conclusion, all the elders of the area were unanimous that the girls were alive," the report added.
"Oh, yeah, sure. Trust us on that! It's not like we'd have the little darlings bumped off!"
The report said the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) was contacted for furnishing family trees of the girls’ fathers. Luckily, it was discovered that Siran Jan and Bazeega got their identity cards issued in 2010 when the incident happened.
Fingerprints and photos shouldn't be considered proper Islamic evidence, either.
The commission tried to convince the local elders to allow the girls to be photographed but they did not agree on the pretext that the girls had already "faced defamation" and any fresh pictures could create more problems for them.
"We're only looking out for them, y'understand, judge?"
"Keeping in view the sensitivity of the people, overall atmosphere and gravity of the situation, it was not deemed suitable to insist on requirement of pictures," the report said.
"Mahmoud, all those guys over there have knives! Put your camera away! Quick!"
The commission said that one of the girls, Amina, was asked about burn marks on her thumbs. She replied that she had been injured while doing some kitchen work. "[T]his does not appeal to reason because [of] burning of two thumbs at a time without any damage to the index or other fingers...," the report said.
Now, would a proper Moslem scorch the thumbs of a maiden of tender years? Does that sound like the sort of thing a devout fellow with a turban would do?
Another girl, Siran Jan, and her father were unable to tell her age. "By appearance she was not more than 16/17 years and in the year 2010 she must be 9/10 years. On the contrary, as per Nadra record her date of birth was Feb 2, 1993 -- contradictory to her appearance. Video snap of this girl was not clear therefore cannot be compared with her photo.
"But she don't look 23!"
"She just don't look her her age!"

"However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the third girl, Begum Jan, resembled the video picture but she too was looking about 16/17 years [old] with no mole marks on her upper lip as appearing in her photo shoot. When asked about the mark, she said it was made with [the help of] antimony/kajal," said the report.
"And how'd you change your shoe size?"
"The fourth girl, Bazeega, also resembled the photo and her apparent age was also compatible with her age as appearing in the photo.
"Got a pretty good fit on that one!"
"The last girl, Shaheen, and alleged controller of the video, disclosed her age as 13 years but her elders said it was 16 years."
"Don't listen to her, judge! She can't count higher'n two when she's wearin' mittens!"
The report said that despite clear directions, the husbands of the girls, except for Shaheen’s, were not produced before the commission. "[About] their absence, elders of the girls advanced lame excuses, except for the husband of Siran Jan, who is reportedly in jail."
"For what?"
"Um... Murder."

The commission noted that after marriage, girls routinely went through a number of changes but its members noticed no such effects on the girls’ faces.
You mean they still look like they did six years ago?

Kellogg Foundation Gave Big to Soros Organization, Tides Foundation
[BREITBART] The institutional left’s funding behemoth W.K. Kellogg Foundation has partnered with and given major donations to George Soros’s Open Society Institute and the Tides Center as part of its massive push to promote a far-left agenda.
I've been doing my part for years, eating house brand breakfy foods.
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is the nonprofit arm of cereal and sweets giant Kellogg’s, based in Battle Creek, Michigan. The Kellogg Company is chiefly known for its breakfast brands, including Special K™ cereal, Eggo® waffles, and Pop-Tarts®; but its namesake nonprofit W.K. Kellogg Foundation is one of the largest institutional funders in the world and is the seventh largest philanthropic foundation in the United States.

The Kellogg’s website explains the history of the Foundation:

As the United States sunk into the Depression, W.K. Kellogg declared, "I’ll invest in people." He split shifts and hired new employees to work them. He also founded the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, whose mission -- to help children realize their potential -- complements that of the Kellogg Company to this day.

In recent years, however, the focus of the Foundation has drifted away from just helping children toward promoting left-wing political issues.

Examples of such funding include a direct grant to George Soros’s Open Society Institute, which received $200,000 from the Foundation to "eliminate racial inequities in the juvenile justice system and promote racial healing through community-based conferences, policy changes, and communication strategies."

Two other far-left groups, the Tides Center and Tides Foundation, both based in the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
, are also top recipients of funds and support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. A search of the grants given by the Foundation for "Tides" yields over 120 results.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
$750K sculpture sickened FBI workers in Miami
Emails and other internal documents indicated the scope and severity of the illnesses.

The office nurse, who was not named in the documents, had one of the most extreme reactions.

"Upon the installation of the art sculpture, the nurse developed rhinitis, difficulty swallowing, sinus pressure, sneezing, has difficulty breathing and began to itch all over," read a June 2015 letter from Marisol Rente, the supervisor of facilities for the FBI’s Miami Division to two GSA officials.

The same letter indicated the nurse did at least three rounds of steroids to "reset her immune system," and that she was the area’s lone nurse.

"We have only one nurse at this time who is responsible for approximately 1,000 employees," the letter read. "She is not able to perform her job duties being at an off-site when her health unit is in the federal building."

According to the letter, another employee’s "face became very swollen along with their lymph nodes and they developed a fever ... the employee states when they are away from the building for an extended time there is resolution of symptoms."

A test conducted by OSHA in February found traces of "numerous substances" like formaldehyde, but the samples did not exceed OSHA air quality standards.
Yup, formaldehyde will do all those things, particularly with a "tight" air conditioning system...
"The most notable impact on air quality during the project was the increased odor when the tarps covering the sculpture were removed," read the report.

GSA also noted tests from the Federal Occupational Health agency.

"FOH measured no cedar dust in the facility and found insufficient evidence to implicate the artwork as the source of health conditions reported by FBI employees," said Muwwakkil, the GSA spokeswoman.

After the decision was made to remove the statue, it went on a more than 1,000-mile journey from Miami to Alexandria, Virginia, where GSA has an off-site fine arts facility. It is currently awaiting its next stop at a storage facility in Maryland.
Some poor GS-5 at the storage facility is about to become sick...

...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s "Thank You Tour" rally in Cincinnati, Ohio Thursday night CNN commentator, and former White House adviser, David Gergen voiced his displeasure for the man during Anderson Cooper 360. "I think there was any doubt that we’re putting an end in one chapter in American history and moving on to a new one he dispelled that doubt tonight," he whined after bemoaning, "The alpha male reappeared tonight."

Host Anderson Cooper seemed taken aback by Gergen’s direction since he originally went to Gergen to discuss Trump’s use of teleprompter and "conversational style which has always been incredibly effective certainly for his supporters on the campaign trail."

"I'm talking about announcing who his defense secretary pick is. You know, in a sort of charming way," Cooper explained trying to get Gergen back on track.

Gergen then went on a small rant about how America’s path is going to change under a Trump presidency:

This is goodbye to American leadership in the world. It’s goodbye to globalization. He's bringing America home. He's going to lead a nativist, nationalistic, populist movement and if you want to join up with him fine, if you don't, forget it.

Cooper countered by noting that American history is full of presidents pulled into foreign engagements, "But I got to say, a lot of presidents have started out saying, "You know what? I'm not talk about nation-building. I'm focusing here at home." And world events have led them elsewhere."

#3  Globalism was a silly thing promoted by people who think that a few tech trinkets can cause a complete redo of human nature. And that they can profit and be the ones with all the money, and in charge, in the process.

Inherent fear of nationalism is as ridiculous and dangerous as seeing nationalism as the end-all and be-all.

Our species might be ready for the concept of "world citizen" in a thousand generations, but probably never. One of the many genius ideas from the Founding Fathers was the notion of balance between centralization and atomization. Subsidiarity is inherently necessary for optimum life among humans. The globalists went to great lengths to convince everyone otherwise and it has blown up in their face.

I first encountered the globalist mind 50 years ago as a college freshman and the World Federalists were recruiting. Sounded reasonable for a while then as I got older (like about 2 months) I realized that utopia just ain't in the cards. The New Soviet Man is just the same old polish on a turd.

Doesn't matter though, Hope springs eternal that utopia is just around the corner.......if we can just find the right corner.

Afghanistan
More than 380,000 Afghans Return from Pakistan in 2016
[AnNahar] More than 380,000 registered Afghan refugees have returned from Pakistain this year, the highest number since 2007, the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
said Friday, adding it handed out $135 million in cash assistance in the last three months alone.

Fears of a crackdown on refugees in Pakistain along with a doubling of the UN's cash grant for voluntary returnees to $400 saw a surge over the border after July this year, the UN has said.

"These are unprecedented numbers we did not anticipate. In October alone some 148,000 returned, which is the highest number of returns in one months (sic) since August 2005," Duniya Aslam Khan, a front man for UNHCR, told AFP.

At one point UNHCR was processing an average of 5,500 refugees per day, she added. Estimates suggest that a further half a million unregistered refugees may also have returned this year, though the figure could not be verified by officials.

The returnees face an uncertain future in an Afghanistan still torn apart by decades of war, where a record half a million people were internally displaced by the fighting in 2016, according to UN figures.

The mass migrations are draining local resources, especially in safer urban areas, officials have said.

UNHCR said Friday the voluntary repatriations will be halted from December 1 for a routine winter break, resuming in March. The break will also allow the agency time to mobilise additional resources, Khan said.

UNHCR had estimated just 50,000 refugees would return in 2016, based on trends from previous years.

Khan said some 1.34 million registered refugees still reside in Pakistain. A further half a million undocumented refugees are also estimated to still be in the country, making Pakistain one of the largest refugee-hosting nations in the world.

Pakistain has extended a deadline for the refugees to leave its territory from March 2017 to December next year.

Some Afghan refugees have been sheltering in Pakistain for decades, first fleeing over the border after the Soviet invasion of 1979.

Some 4.2 million Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan voluntarily under the UNHCR-funded Voluntary Repatriation programme since 2002.

Clashes after Friday prayers
[Daily Excelsior] Protesters today clashed with security forces at several places across Kashmire where shutdown paralysed life and chairman of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz delivered sermon at Jamia Masjid for the first time since July 8.

Authorities since morning deployed additional contingents of security forces in sensitive areas of Srinagar including in Old City. However,

there was no restriction on the movement of people. At some places, security forces erected concertina wires and mobile bunkers to prevent violence.

There was less flow of private and public transport in Civil Line areas while majority of shops, petrol pumps, commercial establishments and educational institutes were closed.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressed a Friday gathering at Jamia Masjid for the first time since July 8. Mirwaiz along with supporters reached Jamia Masjid where he was given a warm welcome. After offering Friday prayers, Mirwaiz led a large rally from the Masjid and when the protest march reached Rajouri Kadal, police used force to disperse it.

This led to festivities as protesters pelted stones at police and they continued intermittently for several hours. In Maisuma here, JKLF chairman Yasin Malik

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Diversification: Iran ‘made $100 million’ off German ship builders in past decade
Now we know.
[IsraelTimes] After revelation that Islamic republic holds shares in Israeli submarine constructors ThyssenKrupp, financial records said to show Tehran was paid hefty sums.

Iran may have raked in around $100 million in profits from shares it holds in a German shipbuilding company that provides submarines to the Israel Navy, Haaretz reported Friday evening.

Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth reported earlier Friday that a company owned by the Iranian government holds 4.5 percent of Germany’s ThyssenKrupp.

Following that report, Haaretz inspected ThyssenKrupp’s financial records, and found that over the past decade the company had handed out dividends to its shareholders amounting to around €2 billion ($2.1 billion at current exchange rate). With 4.5% of the company’s stock, the Iranians would have received approximately $96 million from ThyssenKrupp over the past 10 years.

The German company has been at the center of a scandal in Israel over its provision of submarines and other services to Israel Navy.

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit last week ordered the police to look into allegations that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s personal lawyer, David Shimron, used his close relationship with the premier to push Israel to purchase several submarines from ThyssenKrupp, award the company a contract for naval vessels to defend Israel’s gas fields, and allow it to build a shipyard in Israel. Shimron was a representative of the company in Israel.

Channel 2 television said that the police inquiry -- which is not yet a full-blown investigation -- would focus not on the multi-billion-shekel purchase of three Dolphin submarines from the Germany company, which has dominated the headlines, but rather on a separate 2014 Defense Ministry tender for naval ships, also involving ThyssenKrupp, to protect Israel’s Mediterranean natural gas field.

According to Yedioth, the Iranian investments in ThyssenKrupp began in the 1970s, during the era of the Shah. Tehran invested some $400 million in the German company, giving it a 24.9% share that was inherited by the Islamic regime when it took over Iran in the 1979 revolution. The newspaper pointed out, however, that at this time, ThyssenKrupp was not building Israeli submarines, but was instead focused on the steel, automotive and elevator industries.

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, the current incarnation of the conglomerate, was created in 2005, when ThyssenKrupp acquired shipbuilding company Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft.

By the beginning of the new millennium, the Iranian investment in ThyssenKrupp, via the Iran Foreign Investments Company, was so significant that its deputy economy minister, Mohamad-Mehdi Navab-Motlagh, sat on the company’s board. But according to a Financial Times report in 2004, the German company "bowed to US pressure" and removed him from the board.

The US, under then-president George W. Bush, had two years earlier declared Iran to be part of the "Axis of Evil," along with Iraq and North Korea. According to the FT report, which cited sources close to the company, the US government "told the German conglomerate that it would be blacklisted if it renewed [Navab-Motlagh’s] position."

At around the same time, the FT said, "ThyssenKrupp was forced to pay a vastly over-inflated sum to the Iran Foreign Investment Company to reduce its holding to below 5 percent."

In its report, Yedioth quoted a 2016 interview by Dr. Farhad Zargari, the current managing director of the Iran Foreign Investments Company, in which he confirms the investment in ThyssenKrupp.

"We own shares in important companies such as British Petroleum, ThyssenKrupp, Siemens, Adidas, and many other big brands," Zargari told the Business Year website, which describes itself as a "leading research firm and publisher of annual economic resources on national economies."

"One of IFIC’s significant roles is to create a bridge between Iran and other countries with our investments, in order to pave the ground for knowledge and know-how transfer," he said. "We feel more secure investing in European and other developed countries compared to less regulated countries."
No doubt.
According to its website, IFIC has investments in 18 countries, 57% of which are in Europe. It also has holdings in South America, Africa and Asia.
One hopes the CIA is aware of this...
The Defense Ministry said in response to the report that it was not aware of Iranian involvement in the company, Yedioth said.

TRB announces capture of Camp 77 from militants as Ghwell threatens action
[Libya Herald] The Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Revolutionaries Brigade (TRB) this evening announced that it had taken control of Camp 77 military camp next to the former Qadaffy compound in the capital’s Bab al-Aziziya area. They also said they had taken the adjoining zoo and the Nasr forest park.

However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
in a subsequent separate statement, it also said that it had no intention of seizing the Rixos complex, which is at the eastern side of the forest park and home to the former General National Congress, or the so-called Hospitality Palaces across the road from the complex.

These latter are currently being used as a base by former "Salvation Government" head Khalifa Ghwell and his supporters.

Earlier Ghwell, who seized the Rixos complex a month and a half ago and declared himself back in power, threatened he and the armed factions linked to him would respond to any attack on the Rixos or the forest park.

"We call all our linked armed factions to get ready for immediate action in order to defend residents and the state facilities," his statement read.

Camp 77 had been under the control of radical Misratan militiaman Salah Badi
...a Misrata militia commander, self-appointed colonel and a member of the Wafa Islamist bloc. He was cashiered from the Libyan army in 1992 because he was nuts...
and others for some time. He has been accused by armed factions in Tripoli of using it as a base for Islamic hardliners and other Lions of Islam including those from the Benghazi Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council (BRSC) such as Wissam Ben Humaid who fled Benghazi after being forced out by Khalifa Hafter’s Operation Dignity.

The camp was taken during the morning by combined forces of the TRB, those under Abu Sleem strongman Abdul Ghani al-Kikli (also known as Ghneiwa), Central Security Boards and other factions.

It has not been confirmed so far if the Deterrence Forces (RADA) led by Abdulraouf Kara had a role in the operation.

Following its capture, the TRB said it had discovered a huge amount of explosives at the camp, posting pictures of some of it on its Facebook page. It added that had nabbed
You have the right to remain silent...
a number of people inside the camp and would publish their statements soon. They were said to be almost entirely from the east of the country.

Commenting before the camp was taken, however, the TRB said that a fight with the Lions of Islam was "crucial" because they were terrorists.

The later statement about not taking the Rixos complex is seen as something of a climbdown by the TRB, although one analysis of yesterday’s festivities between the alliance of Tripoli militias on the one side (including the TRB) and the holy warriors on the other has been that they were testing each others’ strengths. Certainly, the festivities have seen a redrawing of militia areas of control in the capital.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Big Shirley was still trying to snatch Nunzio bald-headed. She was already halfway there...
support for Ghwell has come from Misrata’s al-Marsah brigade. In a separate statement it would beat "with an irony fist" any faction that thought of seizing the Rixos complex and the Nasr zoo. It complained that while it had been in Sirte fighting the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. , "some people have exploited our absence". It would go to Tripoli as soon as possible, it said.

Teenage Refugees Selling Sex On Athens Streets
[Tolo News] Desperate young refugees have been forced into the murky underworld of drugs and prostitution in an attempt to survive on the streets of Athens, in Greece.

In a CNN documentary, young men are seen congregating at Victoria Square, in central Athens, in small groups, where they ply their trade. Many of them are teenagers ‐ unaccompanied minors.

According to a social worker, Tassos Smetopoulos, they come here for money so they can pay human traffickers to get them to central Europe.

One teenager, interviewed by CNN, is Ali (not his real name). He is 17 years old and is from Afghanistan. He said he came to Europe hoping to get an education and to eventually bring his mother to join him. But now Ali is dependent on drugs and on the money from clients.

Like many others, Ali visits a nearby park regularly where deals are made with men. Ali said some of the older men offer to take boys to a local disco or to their home.

"Some will take you home, give you clothes and anything you like," he says.

"They will treat you like their husband, their boyfriend, they will give you €200, €300, €400 ($212, $318, $425).

"It's very hard. How can a person be with another man like that? Those men are sick. No matter how often I do it, it doesn't get easier," Ali said.

CNN reported that the seeming rise in unaccompanied minors prostituting themselves comes after a "one-for-one" deal brokered between the EU and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....

Iraq
Nearly 2,000 Members of Iraqi Forces Killed in November, 1,600 Peshmerga Killed Since Start of Mosul Offensive
An estimated number that may prove to be significantly higher,
[AnNahar] Close to 2,000 members of the Iraqi security forces were killed in November across the country, along with hundreds of civilians, the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
said Thursday.

The figure increased threefold from October, when tens of thousands of forces launched a huge assault to retake the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. group's last major Iraqi bastion of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
According to the U.N. mission in Iraq's monthly tally, 1,959 Iraqi forces were killed last month and at least 450 others maimed.

The toll includes members of the army, police who are engaged in combat, the Kurdish peshmerga, interior ministry forces and pro-government paramilitaries.

The U.N. statement also said at least 926 non-combatants were killed, bringing to 2,885 the number of Iraqis killed in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict last month.

The spike in casualties comes as a major offensive to retake the IS stronghold of Mosul, Iraq's largest military operation in years, enters its seventh week.

The number of members of the Iraqi forces killed released by the U.N. for October was 672.

The highest number of civilian deaths recorded in November was in Nineveh province, of which Mosul is the capital, with 332, the U.N. figures showed.

The U.N. explained it had few reliable figures for the western province of Anbar, which has seen continued IS-related violence in recent weeks, and suggested that real casualty figures were likely higher.

The government in Baghdad and the authorities in the autonomous Kurdish region rarely divulge casualty figures during a military operation. The ongoing Mosul offensive is no exception and the myriad forces involved have remained mum on losses within their ranks.

Burials at the main Shiite cemetery of Najaf however, as well as partial figures provided by local officials across the country and the number of obituaries posted on Facebook pointed to significant losses among the security forces.

1,600 Kurdish peshmerga killed in Mosul offensive: Spokesman

[AlAhram] A total of 1,600 Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga fighters have been killed since the start on October 17 of a huge offensive to retake the jihadist bastion of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, a front man said Thursday.

Close to 10,000 peshmerga were also maimed in the six weeks of fierce fighting to oust the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) myrmidon group from Iraq's second city, said Halgord Hekmat, front man for the autonomous Kurdish region's peshmerga ministry.

Shaboobs kill 11 Soldiers in Bakool
At least 11 government soldiers were killed, and three others wounded in a heavy fighting between Al shabaab fighters and Somali troops in Bakool region, south west of Somalia.

Al shabaab claimed it killed 11 soldiers in the combat which erupted when Somali federal government forces attacked militants in Dhuraay area located in the outskirts of Wajid town. The Al Qaeda-linked militants said they seized 9 AK-47 riffles during the clashes with SNA.

However, Somali military has denied the Al shabaab claims of killing at least 11 SNA force members in the battle. There was no independent sources in the area confirming the casualties.

Kerry: People can't tell 'what's real and what isn't'
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
lamented Friday that technology has allowed the quick spread of false information to the point that people are struggling to "know what's real and what isn't."

"This is one of our chief challenges today, is to manage information and to do it in a way that average folks at home can know what's real and what isn't, what's true, what's false, and try to build consensus around a common set of understandings," Kerry said during the Mediterranean Dialogues Conference in Rome. "Technology has brought the world closer, yes; but it's also enabled bigots and demagogues to spread messages of divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
ness and hate with the click of a button, with the push of a finger."
Have 'em post it on Rantburg -- our people quickly clarify whether something is fact or fiction.
That focus on misinformation was apparent whether he was talking about the risk of jihadist recruiters propagandizing young Moslems or pushing back against the trade skepticism now regnant in the United States. "Now, none of us should have any illusion about the challenges that we face. They are real, and frankly, they require our collective courage," Kerry continued. "And, I might add, they require all of those things based on truth."

He offered counterarguments to such ideas throughout his talk, beginning with the problem of terrorist propaganda. Kerry argued, contrary to jihadists, that all the great religions of the Mediterranean world share a common set of ethics.

#4  Yep, Beso. I hear herr Goebels there as well.

The globalists / statists were born in the days of a central media monopoly of the airwaves. The big three owned the narrative and the "facts" and the "truth".

Much easier to control the plebs when there is only one source of information and you control it.

Now? Not so much and as people have heard more from more sources the bubble was broken and can't be put back together again.

I think that in the fullness of time Rathergate will be seen as a major milestone in the destruction of the elite.

#6  My favorite take on "what's real..."

“After we came out of the church, we stood talking for some time together of Bishop Berkeley's ingenious sophistry to prove the nonexistence of matter, and that every thing in the universe is merely ideal. I observed, that though we are satisfied his doctrine is not true, it is impossible to refute it. I never shall forget the alacrity with which Johnson answered, striking his foot with mighty force against a large stone, till he rebounded from it: "I refute it thus.”

(August 6th 1763, as told in James Boswell’s 'Life of Samuel Johnson, Vol 3'; 1791)

That may or not be the case, Liveshot, but most of us deplorables can spot fake and phony from a mile away, like certain former Massachusetts Senators who managed to marry two rich widows.

#14  Then there was that time that Liveshot got a free Buick from then local car dealer Bob Brest, skipped the first 16 payments, then claimed he paid the money back. This same car was also the car Kerry was sleeping in before he was elected to the U.S. Senate.

Inventor of General Tso's Chicken dies in Taipei at age 98
[TAIWANNEWS.TW] Chef Peng Chang-kuei, the founder of the famous Hunan-style restaurant chain Peng's Garden Hunan Restaurant and inventor of the world famous Chinese dish General Tso's Chicken, died on Nov. 30 at the age of 98 from Pneumonia.

A native of Changsha, Hunan Province, Peng began training at the age of 13 under the tutelage of the famous Hunan chef Cao Jing-chen, who was the family chef of Tan Yan-kai, the prime minister of the Nationalist government from 1926 to 1928. After WWII, he was put in charge of running Nationalist government banquets, and in 1949 he fled to Taiwan after the Kuomintang's forces were defeated by the communists in the Chinese Civil War.

According to an interview with the China Times, Peng says that his most famous dish was created in 1952 during a four-day visit by U.S. Seventh Fleet commander Admiral Arthur W. Radford. After three days, he had served the guests most of his repertoire of dishes, so to try and mix things up a bit, he decided to chop some chicken into big chunks, fry it to a golden hue and then added a different combination of sauce and seasoning to create a new dish.

The admiral was so impressed with the dish that he asked Peng what it was called, he thought quickly on his feet and said "General Tso's Chicken".

Peng chose the name to honor General Tso, a famous military leader from Hunan who helped put down the Taiping Rebellion as well as other rebellions in the 1800s during the Qing Dynasty. He was well respected not only for his successes on the battlefield, but also for his contributions to Chinese agricultural science and education.
