The Bad Bush
George W. Bush hinted Thursday at his dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, complaining in a New York City speech that 'bullying and prejudice' has become a caustic norm in American public life.

At an event hosted by the George W. Bush Institute, the 43rd U.S. president rattled off a thinly veiled litany of complaints about the current commander-in-chief, focusing on both his tone and his isolationist policy choices.

'Our young people need positive role models,' he said. 'Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children.'

'Bigotry seems emboldened' in today's America, Bush added. 'Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication.'

Trump's tenure has been marked by a seemingly endless stream of outraged posts on his Twitter account and a dramatic political polarization among U.S. voters as the truthfulness of his public statements is questioned daily.

#5  From Politico, at the end of an article claiming this is a Trump-bashing speech:

In an unsolicited response to the speech, Trump White House director of strategic response Steven Cheung pointed to a comment Thursday from a Bush spokesman disputing that Trump was the target of the former president's remarks. "The themes President Bush spoke about today are really the same themes he has spoken about for the last two decades," the Bush spokesman had said.

"These demands are not open to negotiation or discussion. The Taliban must act, and act immediately. They will hand over the terrorists, or they will share in their fate."
George W. Bush, Statement To Joint Session Of Congress September 20th 2001

October 17 2001:
SoS Powell offers 'moderate Taliban' future role in Afghan government.

As early as 2001 the Bush administration's policy and public messaging regarding 9/11 was objectively inconsistent and incoherent.

IMO a 'RINO' was the worst kind of politician to be in office on 9/11. He was prone to err on the dovish side but would not be criticized for such errors.

The Democrats would agree on policy and the Republicans would loyally stay silent.

Senator McCain says he is on the rocks with Generals Mattis and McMaster
[Defense News] WASHINGTON ‐ Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain on Tuesday painted a dire picture of his relationship with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, saying it’s worse than it was with Obama-era Defense Secretary Ash Carter.

"I had a better working relationship, back and forth, with Ash Carter than I do with an old friend of 20 years," McCain said, referring to Mattis. He added that he has considered both Mattis and McMaster "friends of mine for many years."

As McCain has waged a public battle with cancer, his penchant for asserting the Senate’s powers to check and balance the executive branch has only grown. On Tuesday, McCain implied national security officials have seen his committee as a rubber stamp, and he is using his seat’s powerful levers to conduct oversight.

"I think they had this idea, once that Trump won, that we are a unicameral government," said McCain, R-Arizona, "and we have to do what we have to do."

The Carter comparison says something, as Obama was McCain’s frequent foil. In Obama’s final year in office, McCain jousted with Carter and the administration over the defense budget, his reform efforts and his slow-rolling of DoD nominees. At one point, McCain vented over a frayed relationship between Congress and the Pentagon’s civilian leadership when Carter denied McCain a courtesy preview of the 2017 Pentagon budget.

It has appeared there might be a thaw in the senator’s relationship with the Pentagon. McCain said he was receiving information from Mattis about his strategy for Afghanistan and the Islamic State fight‐and that he would not block a handful of Pentagon nominees from Senate floor votes.

On the other hand, McCain was in a war of words with the commander in chief. While accepting the Liberty Medal in Philadelphia Monday night, McCain warned the United States against turning toward "half-baked, spurious nationalism" ‐ widely read as a repudiation of Trump.

Trump responded in a radio interview Tuesday, "I’m being very, very nice. But at some point I fight back, and it won’t be pretty."

Is Hollywood sitting on a pedophilia scandal?
h/t Instapundit
[TheWeek] The flurry of sexual harassment and assault allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein confirms an unsettling truth that deep down we already knew. There's a reason "casting couch" has become a grotesquely ubiquitous term. We have long quietly assumed that big-time movie producers exploit their power to sexually exploit women. We should have heeded the warning signs. The smoke has been there for a long time. Of course the faint plumes were evidence of a fire raging, a fire we both did not imagine and yet knew was burning.

The answer to this question will also give you the answer to the next question: Can we seriously doubt that Hollywood is also turning a blind eye to a very real child sex-abuse scandal?
No. I won't believe it!

Shakeup at the DNC: First Jewish Transgender Lesbian is Dumped
[JammieWearingFool] As the Democrats flounder trying to find a coherent message to bamboozle Americans with, apparently the diversity bean-counters have invited some trouble here.

The removal and demotion of a handful of veteran operatives stood out, as did what critics charge is the over-representation of Clinton-backed members on the Rules and Bylaws Committee, which helps set the terms for the party’s presidential primary, though other Sanders and Ellison backers remain represented.

Those who have been pushed out include:

Ray Buckley, the New Hampshire Democratic chairman and longtime DNC official who ran against Perez for chair before backing Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., lost his spots on the Executive Committee and DNC Rules Committee;

James Zogby, the president of the Arab American Institute and prominent Sanders backer, is no longer co-chair of the Resolutions Committee and is off the Executive Committee, a spot he has held since 2001;

Alice Germond, the party’s longtime former secretary and a vocal Ellison backer, who was removed from her at-large appointment to the DNC; and

Barbra Casbar Siperstein, the first transgender member of the DNC who supported Ellison and Buckley, was tossed from the Executive Committee.

Why do Democrats hate transgender lesbians, one might ask?

The DNC has been under intense scrutiny from party activists since the 2016 presidential primary between Clinton and Sanders, and some had feared this week’s appointments could reignite those tensions. Others worried about replacing people with years of institutional memory with inexperienced newcomers in the effort to bring in new blood.

"Keith suggested names for DNC at-large membership and committees. Some were selected and some were not. In the end, the selections are the perogative of the chair," Ellison spokesperson Karthik Ganapathy said in a terse statement.

Siperstein, the first transgender member of the DNC, said, "I can’t speak for Tom (Perez), but you talk about diversity ‐ I’m extremely diverse: Jewish, veteran, transgender, lesbian, grandparent, small-business owner."

Which begs the question: What does Tom Perez have against Jewish, veteran, transgender, lesbian, grandparent, small-business owners?

North Korea warns 'a nuclear war may break out any moment'
[AP] UNITED NATIONS ‐ North Korea's deputy U.N. ambassador warned Monday that the situation on the Korean peninsula "has reached the touch-and-go point and a nuclear war may break out any moment."

Kim In Ryong told the U.N. General Assembly's disarmament committee that North Korea is the only country in the world that has been subjected to "such an extreme and direct nuclear threat" from the United States since the 1970s ‐ and said the country has the right to possess nuclear weapons in self-defense.

He pointed to large-scale military exercises every year using "nuclear assets" and said what is more dangerous is what he called a U.S. plan to stage a "secret operation aimed at the removal of our supreme leadership."

This year, Kim said, North Korea completed its "state nuclear force and thus became the full-fledged nuclear power which possesses the delivery means of various ranges, including the atomic bomb, H-bomb and intercontinental ballistic rockets."

Tucker Carlson: 'It's finally happened, we have a Russian scandal'
[Daily Caller] On "Tucker Carlson Tonight," The Daily Caller co-founder said, "It’s finally happened, we have a Russia scandal. But instead of proving collusion between the Trump campaign and the government of Vladimir Putin, this one reveals deep wrongdoing and the Obama administration, and it’s real."

"We’ve known for several years that Russian money was flowing to the Clinton family and foundation in the same period the Obama administration approved the Russian acquisition of 20 percent of this country’s strategic uranium reserves. Now, new reporting from The Hill newspaper revealed that as early as 2009, the FBI was investigating secret Russian efforts to get the deal done by bribing Americans."

He added, "At least one American businessman says he directly witnessed Russian efforts to convince the Clintons to approve that deal. The businessman says he was blocked from publicly telling Congress what he knew because he was ordered to remain silent by Eric Holder’s Justice Department. It’s a remarkable story and potentially a very significant one."

...This isn’t helpful. In fact, as with the redefinitions of date rape and consent so that sex you regret sometime next week is classified as rape, it weakens the fight against the actual bad guys. It does so because it leads to trivializing the crimes at the serious end of the spectrum. When people group together wolf-whistling and rape and claim that #AllMenAreGuilty, most men look at the list and think the shrieking harpies are exaggerating the whole thing because they (or friends/coworkers etc.) are probably guilty of stuff at the low end and can see that while it is perhaps not 100% harmless, it’s a petty irritation and no more so than the petty irritations they get from women. In fact many people (of both sexes) look at this and actively object because consensual flirtatious banter, sexual innuendo, poor taste jokes etc., which are what some of #MeToo crowd are complaining about, are ways to make the humdrum workday more pleasurable. The fact that a bunch of humorless upper-class sorts are lecturing the rest of us and taking away our fun really annoys and, in fact, potentially makes us more sympathetic to the real scumbags, such as certain famous Hollywood moguls, who actually do the real abuse instead of joke about it.

In fact, as a certain FB friend of mine, who wishes to remain anonymous, pointed out, this might be deliberate:

Evidently it wasn't lightning - Arson Suspect in Wine Country Wildfires is Arrested
[LI] In the course of the past week, the Wine Country Wildfires have incinerated more than 200,000 acres, obliterated or damaged more than 5,500 homes, and displaced over 100,000 people. The current death tool stands at 41, including a private contractor who was bringing water to fight the blazes when his vehicle rolled over.
"He was helping to fight the fires and do the right thing," said CHP Capt. Mike Palacio. "Unfortunately, at this point, we don’t know what happened."

..."This has been the deadliest week that we’ve experienced here in California... from wildfires," Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said Monday.

Sonoma County officials report that a suspect has been arrested for arson in connection to the area’s blazes.

The arson suspect is Jesus Fabian Gonzales, 29, Sgt. Spencer Crum, a spokesman for the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office told CNBC. Crum described him as "a transient out of Sonoma" and said the suspect was "arrested for setting a small fire in a park in Sonoma on Sunday."

Speaking at the Tuesday afternoon press conference, Giordano said the arson suspect was seen "walking away from a small fire" and stopped by deputies. Also, the suspect allegedly had "a fire extinguisher and a lighter with him," said the sheriff.

Giordano said the suspect was asked whether he started the fire and responded that "he started the fire to warm himself up ‐ something to that effect."

This is at least good news for California’s largest electric utility company, which has seen its stock plummet over concerns it could be found liable for the fires that have ravaged Northern California.

Perhaps the people of Israel will help fulfill their mission to be a light unto the nations by example. Europe's new nationalists may attempt to emulate Israel not but superceding it or by asserting their claims for election against each other, but by seeking to identify its virtues.

#7  Most of it is used to counterbalance the aid that USA gives to their Muslim "allies".

Aid used to keep them semi-friendly with Israel, and dependent on the US for munitions and spare parts resupply, which somewhat limits their offensive capabilities vis-a-vis Israel. Zeroing out aid to Israel and its immediate neighbors would save $5b a year. Even in this day and age, that's a lot of simoleons. That's 50 F-35's every year. It's a Ford-class carrier every three years. Just how expensive is this aid to Israel and its semi-hostile neighbors, relatively-speaking? It only costs $1b to keep US forces in Korea.

There was a time when Israel needed the money to survive. That time is now past. It's time for it to stand on its own two feet.

It's a beach head that we've not been able to use in any of our Middle Eastern expeditions. Besides, with satellite and all-weather drone reconnaisance and guided munitions, beach heads aren't what they used to be.

The issue isn't whether we should be allied with Israel, although that obviously causes us a lot of headaches, some terror-related, with the Muslim world. It's whether we should be sending $5b per year in grants to Israel and its semi-hostile neighbors. We should end the aid and formalize our commitment to Israel via a mutual defense pact. That way, they'd be a little shyer about doing an end-run around us and selling defense tech under false pretenses to our enemies - as they attempted to do with Phalcon and their actual sale of Lavi tech to the Chinese. The kicker is that most of it was developed on the basis of fundamental knowhow we provided to Israel on the Israeli pretext that they needed this information to customize and improve upon it.

Jon Adelman, an international relations specialist and jpost columnist, on how this phenomenon needs to end:

Israel also has to recognize the serious constraints imposed on its arms sales by its close and highly beneficial relationship with the world's dominant superpower. The United States provides great economic, political, and military benefits to Israel, as well as closely reflecting Israel's democratic, free market, and cultural values. In return for this help, Israel needs clear and explicit approval for arms sales to controversial countries that are not considered friendly to the United States. No longer can Israel afford what Amnon Barzilai depicts as: "Vagueness, uncertainty and even an attempt at deception all played a role in the affair over the years, the forced cancellation of the billion dollar deal with China."14 Failure to gain this transparent approval from the U.S. will lead Israel into further pointless confrontations with the superpower that is conducting a highly beneficial war against the axis of evil that includes two of Israel's most serious strategic enemies.

#13  No boy, actually you lied to us about Russians' intentions to save your future ally Egypt.

So Nixon went to DEFCON 3 to save the Egyptians? What was Israel going to do - occupy Egypt? Enough with the paranoia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEFCON#Yom_Kippur_War

On October 6, 1973, Egypt and Syria launched a joint attack on Israel resulting in the Yom Kippur War. The U.S. became concerned that the Soviet Union might intervene, and on October 25, U.S. forces, including Strategic Air Command, Continental Air Defense Command, European Command and the Sixth Fleet, were placed at DEFCON 3.

According to documents declassified in 2016, the move to DEFCON 3 was motivated by Central Intelligence Agency reports indicating that the Soviet Union had sent a ship to Egypt carrying nuclear weapons along with two other amphibious vessels.[10] Soviet troops never landed, though the ship supposedly transporting nuclear weapons did arrive in Egypt. Further details are unavailable and may remain classified.

Over the following days, the various forces reverted to normal status with the Sixth Fleet standing down on November 17.[11]

#14  The tension at sea peaked just as the land war was ending a week later, with the Egyptian Third Army surrounded in the Sinai desert. Responding to Cairo’s plea, Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev warned Washington that if Israel did not lift its siege of the Third Army, the Soviet Union would have to consider sending in troops to do so. Airborne divisions were put on alert in the Soviet Union and Volubuyev was ordered to organize a naval infantry force made up of volunteers from his squadron to be landed at Port Said at the mouth of the Suez Canal in a show of support for Egypt.

The Pentagon’s response to Brezhnev’s warning was a worldwide alert, Defcon (Defensive Condition) 3, the highest state of readiness in peacetime. An American airborne division was put on standby for departure to the Middle East and 50 B-52 strategic bombers were recalled from Guam to the US. A third carrier task force was ordered into the Mediterranean and a 2,000-man marine detachment with the Sixth Fleet was moved south of Crete, closer to the battle area. The Soviet squadron, reinforced through the Dardenelles, now numbered 97 vessels, including 23 submarines, while the Sixth Fleet had grown to 60. “The pressure has reached the breaking point,” wrote Capt. Semenov.

Congress Probes Whether Soetoro DOJ Used The 'Trump Dossier' Before Surveillance Court
[Daily Caller] Both the House and the Senate are investigating whether the former President Barack Obama’s administration used intelligence in a salacious "Trump Dossier" as "evidence" before a secret federal surveillance court to obtain permission to spy on Donald Trump campaign aides and later his transition team.

Leaders in Congress are trying to find out if the Obama Justice Department and the FBI introduced the totally unsubstantiated material alleging unsavory connections between Trump and Russia before the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court, congressional aides told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The FBI used the dossier to secure permission to monitor the communications of Trump associate Carter Page, based on U.S. officials briefed on the Russia investigation, CNN reported in April.

The latest inquiries began Oct. 4, when the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence subpoenaed Fusion GPS, a political opposition research firm based in Washington, D.C., to appear before the committee and turn over bank documents. The committee is also seeking all Justice Department applications before the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court, also called the FISA court, to determine if any of the applicants rely on information from the dossier.

Senate seeks to interview FBI informant in Russian nuclear bribery case
[The Hill] The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday sought permission to interview an FBI informant who helped agents uncover a major corruption scheme by Russian nuclear officials seeking to aggressively expand their American business under the Obama administration.

The undercover witness, who has not been publicly identified, spent nearly five years helping agents build a case that resulted in one of Russia's top nuclear industry officials in the United States, a Russian financier and an American trucking executive to plead guilty in 2015 to charges related to a racketeering scheme that prosecutors said involved bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering.

The informant possesses information about the extent of Russian efforts to curry favor inside the United States that he has been prevented from disclosing to the courts and Congress because he signed an FBI nondisclosure statement, his lawyer Victoria Toensing told The Hill on Tuesday.

The undercover witness was threatened by Justice officials when he tried to disclose some of the information in a lawsuit during last year's election, forcing him to withdraw his legal action, the lawyer alleged.

Senate bill to extend Obamacare payments Tango Uniform
[The Hill] A Senate healthcare deal to extend critical ObamaCare payments to insurers appears all but completely dead just 24 hours after it was announced.

President Trump reversed course Wednesday and said he opposed the deal, while Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) office said the Senate should keep its focus on repealing and replacing President Obama’s signature law.

Sen. John Thune (S.D.), the third-ranking Senate Republican, acknowledged the deal had "stalled out."

Some Republican senators said they were working on changes to move the bill in a more conservative direction, but those efforts appeared to have little chance of success.

Democrats, who hailed the agreement on Tuesday, signaled they were preparing to blame Republicans for walking away from the deal crafted by Health Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Sen. Patty Murray (Wash.), the panel’s top Democrat.

Holder Defends Comey Drafting Exoneration Before Completing Clinton Investigation
[Free Beacon] Former Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that former FBI Director James Comey should have been able to come to determinations about the investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server before interviewing her.

Holder was appointed attorney general in the Obama Administration and had thus worked with Comey, although he had been replaced by Loretta Lynch by the time Comey was investigating Clinton’s server. As a former head of the Justice Department, Holder took no issue with the fact that Comey was drafting his statement before interviewing Clinton.

"You can make determinations about where an investigation is likely to go before you actually speak to the subject of that investigation," Holder said. "That inquiry had been underway for an extended period of time."

Holder said his "guess" is that Comey understood where the investigation was going after a certain amount of work had been done.

"A lot of resources had been used," he added. "A lot of people had been spoken to. A lot of documents had been reviewed. So you can get to, you know, pretty close to the end of an investigation and understand where you're going to go with it before you actually talk to the subject of the investigation."

Tapper also asked Holder about his criticism of Comey for making a statement exonerating Clinton that nevertheless seemed critical of her. Holder stood by that judgment but said he trusted Comey’s integrity.

Germany to stop training Kurdish peshmerga fighters in Iraq
[DW] Germany said on Wednesday it will halt its training mission in northern Iraq as it seeks unity in a country that has seen tensions soar between the government and the Kurds in the past few days.

Germany has been a major partner of the Kurdish peshmerga forces and has supported its war efforts against the "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. " (IS) since September 2014.

It has supplied 2,000 assault rifle and machine guns, as well as other weapons valued at around 90 million euros. Some 130 German soldiers are stationed in Erbil to train the Kurdish fighters.

"We had agreed last Friday with the foreign office to pause the training so no wrong signal would be sent," German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen told news hounds on Wednesday.

A government front man on Wednesday said the suspension of the training was temporary and any decision on resuming it will be subject to daily examination of the situation in Iraq, which faces the possibility of a new civil war.

IDF raids Palestinian media companies suspected of incitement
[Ynet] Israeli security forces raid West Bank offices of 8 Paleostinian media, production companies working with Hamas and Islamic Jihad-affiliated TV channels; equipment was impounded and two suspects nabbed during raid; channels‐based in Gazoo, Leb‐will continue broadcasting.

IDF and Shin Bet forces raided eight media and production companies providing services to Paleostinian television channels affiliated with Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, and Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
overnight Wednesday.

Equipment was impounded during the raid and two suspects were incarcerated
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
on suspicion of incitement.

The IDF served closure orders to several companies, including Pal Media, Ram Sat and Trans Media in Nablus, Hebron and Ramallah. During the raid, forces also entered the offices of the Paleostinian television channels at the buildings owned by the media companies.

The companies provided services for, among others, Hamas's al-Quds and al-Aqsa channels and the Paleostine al-Youm channel affiliated with Islamic Jihad. The three aforementioned channels broadcast from Gazoo and Leb and are considered very popular among Paleostinians both in Gazoo and the West Bank.

The channels did not cease operations, however, as they are based in Gazoo and Leb. The purpose of the raid was to merely shut down their physical presence in the West Bank.

Thus, in a joint IDF-Shin Bet-Civil Administration operation, forces raided Paleostinian media outlets and production companies suspected of disseminating and broadcasting inciteful materials encouraging terrorism.

The IDF noted this operation was part of an extended thwarting effort, as part of which security forces carry out operations against all components of terrorism, including incitement.

"Security forces will continue working against incitement to terrorism out of the understanding it is a direct cause of terrorist attacks, which are inspired by it, and ground-level support of terrorism," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said.

On a related matter, IDF, Shin Bet and Border Police forces arrested 18 wanted Paleostinian suspects, 15 of whom were arrested on suspicion of involvement in street-level terrorist activity and violent rioting aimed against both civilians and security forces.

Iran police seizes 100,000 fake Iraq visas
[AlAhram] Iranian police have seized 100,000 fake visas for Iraq and made six arrests ahead of the huge annual Shia pilgrimage of Arbaeen in November, newspapers reported Monday.

"Police forces have dismantled a band of six persons and seized 100,000 fake visas for Arbaeen" which this year falls on November 9, Tehran's police chief Hossein Rahimi said.

The head of Iran's organising committee for the pilgrimage to Karbala, south of Baghdad, Hossein Zolfaghari, said 500,000 official visas have so far been issued, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
's website reported.

Iran's participation in Arbaeen has spiked massively in recent years, with some two to three million Iranians among the 17 to 20 million participants last year.

Iranian police officials have repeatedly warned that pilgrims without a visa will not be allowed to enter Iraq this year, advising them to avoid fake visas.

Arbaeen marks the 40th day after the martyrdom of the Shia Imam Hossein in the seventh century.

Israel to temporarily extend Gaza fishing area
[IsraelTimes] Applicable to Strip's southern half, expansion will allow boats to ply waters up to 9 nautical miles off coast instead of 6

Israeli officials have announced they will temporarily expand the fishing area for Paleostinians off a sector of the blockaded Gazoo Strip.

From Wednesday, fishermen in southern Gazoo will be able to travel up to nine nautical miles out to sea in search of hauls, up from six previously, an Israeli statement said Sunday.

The six-week expansion will "improve the economy in the Gazoo Strip," said the statement from the Israeli Defense Ministry unit COGAT.

Fishing limits off the northern part of Gazoo will remain unchanged at six miles.

Similar measures were introduced in May.

The size of the fishing zone has varied over the years, having been set at 20 nautical miles by the Oslo Accords of the 1990s before being reduced by Israeli authorities.

Nizar Ayesh, head of the Paleostinian fishing union, told AFP it has not yet been informed of the latest decision. He said he hoped the recent reconciliation between Paleostinian factions would pressure Israel to further loosen its restrictions.

Around 4,000 fishermen work in Gazoo, more than half of whom live below the poverty line.

allies, the state-run Anadolu news agency said on Monday.

Authorities summoned the worker last week for questioning over his relatives' alleged links to last year's failed coup attempt, days after the arrest of another consulate employee triggered a mutual suspension of visa services.

Anadolu said the wife and daughter were barred from leaving the country and had to report to the nearest cop shoppe once a week as part of the terms of their release.

Their relative, identified only as N.M.C., has still not himself reported for questioning, Anadolu said, having been summoned after the wife and daughter were detained in the Black Sea city of Amasya.

Ottoman Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has accused U.S. officials of sheltering him in their consulate in Istanbul.

The man's wife and daughter were detained over alleged links to the network of U.S.-based holy man Fethullah Gulen

Provinces told to launch action against banned religious outfits
[DAWN] The federal government has directed the provinces to launch action against proscribed (banned) religious outfits and those kept under observations by seizing their offices, weapons and properties.

The Ministry of Interior also instructed all the provincial chief secretaries and the chief commissioner of the capital territory Islamabad to submit reports on the organizations’ financial activities.

According to sources, the orders were issued to the chief secretaries of the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmire to restrain members of all such organizations from continuing their activities.

The decision was taken after the recent statement of Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif in which he stressed the need for "putting our own house in order."

This was followed by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal’s statement in the Senate on Thursday that it was the responsibility of the provincial governments to keep an eye on and take action against banned outfits, including those resurfacing under new names.

Minibus driver, conductor beat passenger to death in Karachi
[DAWN] KARACHI: A 30-year-old man was beaten to death by the driver and conductor of a minibus in Bahadurabad on Tuesday when the passenger argued with them over bus fare, police said.

The bus driver and conductor have been taken into custody.

The police added that the dear departed identified as Abdul Rahman argued with bus conductor Umar Khan of route X-23 over fare when the vehicle was standing near the Bahadurabad roundabout.

The bus driver, Arif Nawaz, intervened and the heated debated turned into a brawl, with the two badly thrashing Abdul Rahman.

The bus conductor was also injured in the fight, the police added. "Rahman sustained serious head injuries which suggested that he was hit on the head multiple times with some heavy metal instrument," said inspector Qamar Zeb Satti, the SHO of the SITE B cop shoppe.

"The brawl in Bahadurabad left Abdul Rahman unconscious and conductor Umar Khan injured. The driver panicked and asked other passengers to get out of the vehicle so he could take him to hospital. The driver brought the two injured to Metroville to shift them in a charity organization’s ambulance."

The driver, the SHO said, was nervous and used the charity’s ambulance to avoid his involvement in transporting them to hospital.

The area police was informed by the charity workers about the injured. The police detained the bus driver. The police later also nabbed
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
the bus conductor after he was released by the hospital following treatment, he added. The dear departed was associated with a private security company.

Pakistan says fence on Afghan border will reduce attacks
But Ma, all the cool kids are doing it!
[Ynet] Pakistain's military said Wednesday that new fencing and guard posts along the border with Afghanistan would help prevent bully boy attacks in both countries, but the stepped-up fortifications have angered Kabul, which does not recognize the frontier as an international border.

Maj. Gen. Nauman Zakaria, the commander for the South Wazoo tribal region, told news hounds during a visit to the border that after the fencing is complete, no "terrorist" will be able to use Afghan or Pak soil to launch cross-border attacks. Pakistain began construction of the fencing in June.

Standing at a post overlooking Afghan villages across the border, Zakaria said troops and paramilitary forces had defeated faceless myrmidons by launching several operations in the troubled region, which was a longtime stronghold for al-Qaeda and the Taliban

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Woman shoots, kills teen who carjacked her son in Clearwater
[TAMPABAY] They met after dusk in the parking lot of a bank for what seemed like a routine transaction.

Louise Ornduff and her son Kalaeb were there to negotiate the sale of a 2016 Nissan Rogue with Lasupta Singletary, 18, and Jernalen Dreshaw Coleman, 17, at the Bank of America at Belcher and Belleair roads, according to Clearwater police.

But instead of a handover of cash for the car, the meeting turned deadly.

The men, armed with guns, demanded the keys to the 2016 Hyundai Veloster that Kalaeb Ornduff, 18, had driven to the bank, police said. As the men drove from the scene, Louise Ornduff fired a shot, hitting Singletary.

Doctors at Mease Countryside Hospital pronounced him dead
He's dead, Jim!
. Though police said Ornduff fired the shot, Coleman of Dade City faces charges of second-degree felony murder and armed robbery. Prosecutors can pursue a felony murder charge against a co-conspirator in Florida when someone dies during the commission of a crime.

What's less clear is what will happen to Louise Ornduff, 36. Police are reviewing details of the case with the Pasco-Pinellas State Attorney's Office to determine whether to bring charges against her. Many details that could determine whether a claim of self-defense is legally sound have yet to be released by Sherlocks, citing the open investigation.

"The timeline is going to be critical," Deputy Chief Eric Gandy said during a news conference. "It's important to determine whether the threat existed when the shot was fired."

With the limited information released by police, experts have varying opinions about whether Florida's "stand your ground" law would be applicable.
A routine Public Service Homicide (PSH). She should be reimbursed for ammo, damages to her vehicle, and be given free tickets to the upcoming police holiday ball.

Fella arrested 42 times goes on shooting spree, 3 dead in Edgewood, MD
[FOX] EDGEWOOD, Md. - A gunman linked to a shooting that left three people dead and two injured at a business in Harford County, Maryland on Wednesday has now been linked to a later shooting in Wilmington, Delaware, according to officials.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office said 37-year-old Radee Labeeb Prince shot five employees at Advanced Granite Solutions in the Emmorton Business Park in Edgewood, Maryland, killing three and critically injuring two just before 9 a.m.
Honest, gainful employment just really wasn't ever going to work for Radee.
The Wilmington Police Department said Prince is also wanted in a shooting that happened at a car dealership in the 2800 Block of Northeast Boulevard in Wilmington at about 10:45 a.m. Police arrived at that scene and found a man who had been shot twice, but was conscious and alert. The victim, who appeared to suffer non-life threatening injuries, identified Prince as the shooter and said the suspect was known to him.

Wilmington Police Chief Robert Tracy said Prince had "beefs" with the victim. Wilmington police said they spotted Prince in his vehicle and gave chase but lost him. Authorities said Prince has family in the Wilmington area.

Officials said the attack at Advanced Granite Solutions, which was carried out with a handgun, was targeted. The sheriff's office said Prince was an employee at Advanced Granite Solutions for the last four months and said Wednesday was a scheduled work day.

Push is on to disbar James Comey after Clinton scandal
This sounds like a marvelous idea.
I would have preferred the 'Brazen Bull' but that's just me.
[Wash Times] A crusading lawyer filed a bar grievance this week accusing former FBI Director James Comey of lying to Congress and destroying potential evidence in the Clinton email scandal, in a process that could end up costing him his law license.

Ty Clevenger filed the grievance in New York, where Mr. Comey was a former U.S. attorney and is licensed to practice law.

Mr. Clevenger said Mr. Comey’s testimony to Congress that he did not predetermine the outcome of the FBI’s probe into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is belied by revelations this week that he in fact started drafting an exoneration months before even speaking with Mrs. Clinton.

"Insofar as Mr. Comey gave materially false testimony to Congress, it appears that he violated Rules 1.0(w), 3.3(a)(1), and 8.4 of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct," Mr. Clevenger wrote.

He also asked to renew grievances in New York against former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, saying Mr. Comey’s claim that she tried to pressure him to downplay the Clinton probe should subject her to scrutiny.

Arabia
Dozens said to be the cost in 2 US airstrikes against ISIS positions in Yemen
Aden, London – US forces killed dozens of ISIS militants in a strike on two ISIS training camps, Oct. 16, in al-Bayda governorate, center of Yemen. However, security officials and locals said the strike targeted militants belonging to al-Qaeda and not ISIS terrorist group.

US Central Command announced that its forces raided two ISIS camps used to train militants to conduct terror attacks using AK-47s, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and endurance training which resulted in disrupting the organization’s attempts to train new fighters.

Strikes against ISIS targets disrupt and destroy militants’ attack-plotting efforts, leadership networks, and freedom of maneuver within the region, according to Central Command.

“In coordination with the government of Yemen, US forces are supporting ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Yemen against ISIS and AQAP to degrade the groups’ ability to coordinate external terror attacks and limit their ability to hold territory seized from the legitimate government of Yemen,” reiterated the Command.

Local eyewitnesses told Reuters that tribal leaders were not allowed near the area in Bayda out of fear of another strike.

Locals reported that the two camps were named after two ISIS leaders who were killed during a US airstrike last summer: ISIS leader in Yemen Abu Bilal al-Harbi and ISIS spokesperson Abu Mohamemd al-Adnani.

A Yemeni security official stated that five al-Qaeda militants were killed in an airstrike believed to be done by the US forces. He explained that 12 raids targeted Qaeda sites in al-Abal and Yekla areas in Ould Rabieh district of Bayda governorate which is considered the organization’s stronghold in the country.

Locals told Asharq al-Awsat that the raid happened after three days of intense drones= hovering above the area, adding that it still wasn’t clear how many militants were killed or injured because people were afraid to approach the area as US aircraft hovered over for hours.

US drones continue to target militants suspected of belonging to terrorist organizations in Yemen’s center. On October 8, US drones killed five ISIS militants northwest of Maerib.

Since January, US intensified its raids on Yemen-based al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) with over 100 strikes on Bayda, Shabwa, Maerib, Hadramout, and Abyen.

According to statistics, over 120 militants were killed during those raids including senior commanders.

Bahrain Accuses Iran of Harboring 160 'Terrorists'
[An Nahar] Bahrain's interior minister accused Iran of harbouring 160 Bahrainis convicted of terrorism and stripped of their citizenship, in an interview published Wednesday.

All 160 "runaways" had been stripped of citizenship in "terrorism cases" targeting Bahraini police and security forces, Sheikh Rashed al-Khalifa told the Arabic-language daily Asharq al-Awsat.

He accused Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards of having trained the group, who were convicted of attacks that killed 25 security personnel and maimed 3,000 others, according to Asharq al-Awsat.

Bahrain, a Shiite-majority kingdom ruled by a Sunni dynasty, has seen sporadic violence since the repression in 2011 of a protest movement demanding a constitutional monarchy and an elected prime minister.

Authorities have since tightened their grip on dissent, jailing hundreds of protesters and stripping a string of high-profile activists and holy mans of citizenship.

Bahrain has drawn harsh criticism for its treatment of demonstrators but maintains it does not discriminate against the country's Shiites.

Catalans rally against separatist leaders’ detention
[DAWN] Thousands of people erupted into the streets of Catalonia on Tuesday after a judge ordered the detention of two separatist leaders, further inflaming tensions over the region’s chaotic referendum on splitting from Spain.

Thousands of workers in Barcelona and other cities staged a brief walkout at noon in protest at Monday’s move by the National Court in Madrid to keep Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sanchez behind bars pending investigations into sedition charges.

"Repression is not the solution," protesters shouted as hundreds gathered outside the Catalan regional government offices in central Barcelona. "Now anyone can be put in jail," said Carme Guell, a 62-year-old beautician who joined the walkout as civil servants from nearby regional ministries blocked the street.

Like many who back independence for Catalonia ‐ which is profoundly divided on the issue ‐ Guell said the wealthy northeastern region was "treated like a colony. All our money is taken away, nothing is reinvested here."

Qandeel murder case: Mufti Qavi apprehended, arrested on the way to Jhang
[DAWN] Cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi was enjugged
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
by police on the highway from Multan to Jhang on Wednesday after his application for an extension in his pre-arrest bail in the Qandeel Baloch murder case was rejected, police said.

Mufti Qavi had appeared before a sessions court for the first time in connection with the murder case on Tuesday. Upon his lawyer's request, the court had adjourned the hearing of the case for a day.

The holy man had on Wednesday filed for an extension in his pre-arrest bail.

As the hearing began today, District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Ameer Ahmad Khan reserved his decision on the matter for a few minutes.

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
before the judge could announce his decision, a group of lawyers helped Mufti Qavi escape from the court.

The judge later ruled that the application for an extension in the holy man's pre-arrest bail would be turned down.

He also ordered the investigating officer to arrest Mufti Qavi and submit a challan
... list of charges ...
for the Qandeel murder case in the court soon.

Investigating Officer (IO) Noor Akbar had said police would arrest Mufti Qavi and present him in court in compliance with the judge's orders.

Superintendent of Police Cantonment Dr Fahad later confirmed to Dawn that the holy man had been arrested on the highway from Multan to Jhang and will be presented in the court on Thursday.

Later, City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Saleem dismissed IO Akbar for "poor investigation, favouring Qavi during investigation and helping him flee".

Akbar was also arrested on the CPO's orders.

Change of heart?
While arriving at the court on Tuesday, Mufti Qavi had said that he had presented himself in the court as per orders.

"We will accept whatever decision the judiciary announces," he had said at the time.

Police had included Mufti Qavi's name as a suspect in the murder case of the social media celebrity on the request of her father, Muhammad Azeem, the complainant in the case, who in a statement before the police suspected the holy man's possible role in her murder.

Judge Ameer Ahmad Khan last week granted pre-arrest bail to Mufti Qavi shortly after a trial court issued his non-bailable arrest warrants in the Qandeel murder case.

Hillary Clinton criticizes U.S. policy on North Korea
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
on Wednesday chastised U.S. policy against North Korea, calling the rising threats of war "cavalier."

"There is no need for us to be bellicose and aggressive," Mrs. Clinton said at a forum in South Korea, Rooters reported.

Although she declined to directly name President Trump, she did say that threats on Twitter were more beneficial to Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
than to the U.S.

"Picking fights with Kim Jong-un puts a smile on his face," she said.

Mr. Trump has taken to the social media platform to call out the North Korean leader, referring to him as "little rocket man." He has also said that the U.S. is ready for war if North Korea’s threats continue.

Diaz seemed to be mocking the Republican duo ‐ but while followers quickly pointed out that the Kentucky senator is a polio

A CNN colleague called out Diaz, quoting her tweet and explaining the situation. At the time this article was published, Diaz had not deleted the tweet. Daily Beast Senior Editor Andrew Kirell also asked what was going on in a since-deleted response.

"McConnell is a polio survivor, a reason why stairs can be tricky at times," CNN's Senior Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju wrote. "McConnell often goes up a step at a time, sometimes needs railing for assistance. This time, used Trump for balance."

School Cancels Halloween, Will Celebrate ‘Black And Orange’ Spirit Day
[BOSTON.CBSLOCAL] The decorations are out and Halloween is two weeks away but there’s controversy at Boyden Elementary School in Walpole. The school will not be having its annual Halloween costume parade this year.

"I think it’s a lot of political correctness," a Walpole woman said. "I think it’s a shame because Halloween is the funnest day of the year next to Christmas for children."

In a message to parents the school principal says, "...the costume parade is out of our ordinary routine and can be difficult for many students. Also, the parade is not inclusive of all the students and it is our goal each and every day to ensure all student’s individual differences are respected."

On Friday the school will have a Halloween party after school hours, but the school says Halloween itself will be "Black and Orange" spirit day.

Parents WBZ-TV spoke with are not happy about the decision to cancel the parade.

"We have grand-kids going to Boyden School. Wonderful school," a grandmother of a student said. "The Halloween party should happen on Friday cause all the kids are excited."

"Put a costume on. Parade down the street. Let them have their little time," a Walpole man said. "Why do you have to turn it into something political?"

Quebec Bars People in Face Coverings From Receiving Public Services
[NYTIMES] The Quebec provincial legislature on Wednesday barred people who are wearing face coverings from receiving public services or working in government jobs, a move that opponents criticized as unfairly targeting Moslems.

The law will prohibit public workers like teachers from covering their faces at work, and will effectively bar Moslem women who wear face veils from using public transit, although it will be possible to apply for exemptions.

The law has been described by proponents as a way to ensure state religious neutrality. Quebec’s minister of justice, Stéphanie Vallée, who sponsored the bill, has said that the legislation will foster social cohesion. But Canadian Moslem groups have long complained that the law, which languished for years before passing 66 to 51 on Wednesday, will penalize Moslems, particularly in a province where few women wear face coverings.

"This is an unnecessary law with a made-up solution to an invented problem," said Ihsaan Gardee, the executive director of the National Council of Canadian Moslems.

"We don’t have hordes of women in niqabs trying to access or work in public services," he said, referring to a type of head scarf that covers much of the face. "Rather than helping to facilitate inclusion, as its proponents claim, it excludes citizens in the public sphere and reinforces the marginalization and stigmatization of Canadian Moslems."

Exactly how the new law will be enforced remains unclear. In the days before the legislation was passed, bus drivers in Quebec voiced concerns about having to personally prevent people from riding busses, and had asked for guidance, which they have not yet received.

CNN's Symone Sanders: White People Aren't Allowed to Criticize the NFL Kneeling
[CNN] Symone Sanders, CNN's resident Berniecrat, says white people aren't allowed to criticize the NFL protests. What does that sound like? Maybe systemic racism??

The tactic isn't a new one for the Left, as they have made that argument about men and abortion for a long time. They've been claiming for decades that, if you don't have a uterus, you shouldn't be able to be pro-life (because, let's face it, if a man is pro-choice, they don't really have a problem with that).

So now Sanders is making it about standing for the National Anthem too. If you're white, you can't have feelings on the matter. And it's even worse if you're Vice President Mike Pence. Maybe her former boss who's white, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D/I-VT), shouldn't be able to have strong feelings on anything either?

Egyptian man referred to court for killing Coptic priest in Cairo
Could be a jihadi, could just be a local Muslim who felt like it -- Al Ahram isn't telling.
[AlAhram] Egypt's prosecutor-general has referred on Tuesday to Cairo criminal court a man charged with killing a Coptic priest and injuring another in Cairo last week, state news agency MENA reported.

The prosecution charged forty-year-old Ahmed El-Sonbaty with premeditated murder in the killing of Arc Priest Samaan Shehataa, who hailed from Beni Suef Governorate in Upper Egypt, in El-Salam City east pf Cairo last Thursday.

Another priest was injured in the attack.

The interior ministry has not commented on a possible motive behind the attack.

Evidence against the defendant includes a confession, witness statements, and forensic evidence, according to MENA.

CIA urging President Trump to delay Kennedy document release another 25 years
Selected excerpt:
[Politico] The still-secret JFK library at the Archives is made up of about 3,100 documents that the public has never seen before, as well as more than 30,000 other files that have been only partially released in the past.
Just beyond the MLK files and Soetoro college transcripts, third shelf from the top, second row. We close at half past four.
Many are known to involve a mysterious chapter in the history of the assassination‐a six-day trip that JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald paid to Mexico City several weeks before the president’s murder, in which Oswald met with Cuban and Soviet spies and came under intensive surveillance by the CIA’s Mexico City station. Previously released FBI documents suggest that Oswald spoke openly in Mexico about his intention to kill Kennedy.

Under the 1992 law, millions of pages of other documents about the assassination were made public in the 1990s, and they did reshape the thinking of many historians about JFK’s murder. Many of those documents revealed how much information had been withheld by the CIA and FBI over the years that demonstrated how those agencies had bungled intelligence in 1963 that, if acted on, might have prevented the assassination.
Emphasis added

A "bungled intelligence" reminder? Well at least it's not some wild-eyed conspiracy theory. A cover-up supported by 50 years of indisputable supporting evidence is still a cover-up. Lastly, let us not forget it is a Politico article.

Death toll in Afghan suicide attacks rises to 80: Officials
Follow up on this report from yesterday.
[AlAhram] The corpse count from two suicide and gun attacks on Afghan cops in southeast Afghanistan has risen to 80 with nearly 300 maimed, officials said Wednesday, in the bloodiest day in the country in almost five months.

The deadliest of Tuesday's assaults was on a police compound in the city of Gardez in Paktia province where Talibs disguised as police detonated three explosive-packed vehicles -- including a truck and a Humvee -- that cleared the way for 11 button men to enter.

At least 60 people, including Paktia police chief Toryalai Abdyani and civilians waiting to collect documents, were killed in the blasts and ensuing battle that lasted around five hours, Gardez deputy director of health Hedayatullah Hamidi told AFP.

Some 236 people were also maimed in the assault, he added.

"The first checkpoint for the compound was blown up by a truck bomb. Two other vehicles then entered the compound -- one detonated near the second checkpoint and the other rammed into the police chief's office that killed the police chief and his bodyguards," said Paktia governor front man Abdullah Hasrat.

The bully boyz had been wearing police uniforms and carrying fake police identification, Hasrat said -- a common tactic used by murderous Moslems to gain entry to government and security installations.

Police front man Sardar Wali Tabasum said two members of the security forces had been placed in durance vile
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
in connection with the attack, suggesting the assailants had insider help.

"We think the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
took these vehicles (a Humvee and a police pickup truck) when Jani Khel district fell to them in August," Tabasum told AFP. Jani Khel is about 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Gardez.

In the second attack in the neighbouring province of Ghazni, some 100 kilometres west of Gardez, the official corpse count was lowered to 20, including 15 members of the security forces and five civilians, Ghazni governor front man Haref Noori told AFP.

The number of maimed stood at 46.

That assault followed a similar pattern involving murderous Moslems detonating an explosives-laden Humvee near a police headquarters then storming the building, Noori said. Six attackers were killed.

An earlier toll had put the number of dead at 30 with 10 injured.

It was the deadliest day in Afghanistan since May 31 when a truck packed with 1,500 kilogrammes of explosives detonated in the diplomatic quarter of the capital Kabul, killing around 150 and wounding hundreds more, mostly civilians.

Kabul police foiled an even larger truck bomb on Saturday -- 2,700 kilogrammes of explosives stashed under boxes of tomatoes -- that would have caused carnage had it went kaboom!.

Less than two days later authorities seized a car driving towards Kabul that was carrying 300 kilogrammes of explosives.

TTP names successor to APS mastermind Umar Mansoor
[DAWN] The Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP) on Wednesday named a successor for krazed killer commander Umar Mansoor, the criminal mastermind of the Army Public School attack, along with a formal confirmation that he was dead.

Usman Mansoor Hafizullah will replace Umar Mansoor as the faction's commander in Darra Adam Khel and Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
, TTP Spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani said in an email sent to journalists on Wednesday.

Umar Mansoor, who had also grabbed credit for the deadly attack on Bacha Khan University in 2016, was said to be the criminal mastermind of 2014's massacre at the Army Public School in Peshawar which left at least 144 people, mostly children, dead.

He was killed in July last year.

Two security bigshots had told Dawn that Umar Mansoor, alias Khalifa Mansour, alias Umar Naray, had been killed, along with another krazed killer leader, Qari Saifullah, in a dronezap in the Bandar area of Afghanistan’s Nangarhar

province in July 2016.

One of the officials had said they had credible reports of Mansoor having been killed with Saifullah, who was in charge of jacket wallahs. "What we have is pretty credible," he had said.

Later, then Commander of the Resolute Support Mission, Gen John Nicholson, had called retired Gen Raheel Sharif

FBI snitch blocked by Obama from testifying before Congress
[Breitbart] An American businessman who went undercover for the FBI was blocked during the Obama administration from telling Congress what he knew about Russia’s efforts to influence the Clintons’ and Obama administration decisions, according to a report.

Attorney Victoria Toensing, a former Reagan Justice Department official and former chief counsel of the Senate intelligence committee, told The Hill that she is trying to get the Trump administration or the FBI to free her client to talk.

“All of the information about this corruption has not come out,” Toensing said.

She said her client possesses “specific allegations that Russian executives made to him about how they facilitated the Obama administration’s 2010 approval of the Uranium One deal and sent millions of dollars in Russian nuclear funds to the U.S. to an entity assisting Bill Clinton’s foundation.”

At the time, Hillary Clinton was secretary of state and serving on the government panel that approved the deal, the lawyer said. Bill Clinton accepted $500,000 Russian speaking fees in 2010 and collected millions more in donations from parties with a stake in the Uranium One deal. The Clintons and the Obama administration have denied that had any influence on the deal.

But Toensing said her client can also testify that FBI agents made comments to him suggesting political pressure was exerted, and that there was specific evidence that could have scuttled approval of the Uranium One deal if it became public.

“There was corruption going on and it was never brought forward. And in fact, the sale of the uranium went on despite the government knowing about all of this corruption. So, he’s coming forward. He wants the right thing to be done, but he cannot do it unless he is released from the NDA,” she told the outlet.

Via Clarice Feldman:

Hannity: I'll start with you Victoria. This is your client. He wanted to tell Congress about all the Bribery, all the scheming, all the kickbacks, all of the corruption. He had the information, he wanted to tell the story. What happened?

Toensing: Well when he started working for the FBI IN 2009 they had him sign what's called an NDA, a Non-Disclosure Agreement. They never gave him a copy of it and when he went public in 2016, way after all this case stuff was done, the Justice Department under Loretta Lynch, called him and threatened him with his freedom if he violated the NDA. Now I've never heard of an NDA that had a criminal penalty for violation but they won't show him a copy of it, so we decided to go to the members of Congress in the Senate, and I have breaking news for you. While I was in make-up, I got a message from Chairman Grassley asking my client to give them information. Now what this does is set up a Constitutional Issue because the Executive Branch can not say to someone "Don't you give information to the legislature." So It will be a very interesting thing to see how the Justice Department responds.

Hannity: So they have the power to lift that NDA--That would be amazing.
We live in interesting times...

In addition, six other Taliban insurgents were wounded.

The incident happened in Imam Sahib district of the province. The Afghan Air Force targeted insurgent safe havens, a spokesman for 209 Shaheen Military Corps, Nasratullah Jamshidi said.

“Three safe havens of the insurgents and their weapons storage facility were destroyed in the airstrikes,” Jamshidi said.

However, he did not provide further details about the airstrike.

Iraqi Army Retakes Almost all Disputed Areas from Kurds
[An Nahar] Iraqi government forces said Wednesday they had achieved their objectives in a lightning operation that saw them sweep through disputed Kurdish-held territory in a punishing riposte to an independence vote last month.

On Monday and Tuesday, federal troops and allied militia retook the northern province of Kirkuk and its lucrative oil fields, as well as formerly Kurdish-held areas of Nineveh and Diyala provinces.

The largely bloodless operation dealt a body blow to the finances of the autonomous Kurdish region, which had derived much of its revenues from exports of Kirkuk oil, and left Kurds in shock and disbelief just weeks after the nationalist fervour of the referendum.

Kurdish claims to the lost territories have long been a cherished national cause and their abandonment -- almost without a fight -- triggered recriminations against the Kurdish leadership.

Kurdish forces are now largely confined to their longstanding three-province autonomous region in the north and have lost nearly all of the territory they had taken since the US-led invasion of 2003, some of it in deadly fighting with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group.

"Security has been restored in sectors of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
including Dibis, al-Multaqa, and the Khabbaz and Bai Hassan North and South oil fields," the federal government's Joint Operations Command (JOV) said.

"Forces have been redeployed and have retaken control of Khanaqin and Jalawla in Diyala province, as well as Makhmur, Bashiqa, djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
dam, Sinjar and other areas in the Nineveh plains."

French geographer and Kurdistan specialist Cyril Roussel said that in the space of 48 hours, virtually all of the disputed territories held by Kurds had been brought back under federal control.

"The Kurds have lost almost all of the 23,000 square kilometres (8,900 square miles) that they had acquired since 2003," Roussel told AFP.

"All that remains in their hands is between 5,000 and 6,000 square kilometres (1,930 and 2,300 square miles) in Nineveh province and the Kupri district of Kirkuk province.

"That's virtually a return to the Green Line -- that is the three provinces of autonomous Kurdistan."

JOC front man Brigadier General Yahya Rasool hinted that federal forces could yet be deployed to the remaining pockets of disputed territory still in Kurdish hands.

"It's not a military operation but the redeployment of forces to all areas to enforce the law," Rasool told AFP. "Further communiques will follow."

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday that the September 25 vote for Kurdish independence was now "a thing of the past".

"Central authority must be imposed everywhere in Iraq," he said.

- Lion's share of oil exports retaken -
In Kirkuk province, the Kurds now hold just a single oil field -- the Khurmala field, which produces barely 10,000 barrels per day of low quality heavy crude.

The field had been in Kurdish hands since 2008 and was not a target of this week's operation.

But all five of the fields that the Kurds had taken since 2014 and were the source of the lion's share of the autonomous region's oil exports were retaken by the federal government.

Rojda Felat, Female Commander who Led Raqa Battle
[An Nahar] A viral photo shows her celebrating the capture of Raqa, but Rojda Felat is more than a poster girl: she commanded thousands of fighters who clinched a defining victory against jihadists.

Her jet black hair plaited and sometimes covered by a black-and-white keffiyeh, the Kurdish woman cuts an unmistakeable figure on Syria's northern battlefields.

Pictures of her fixing the Syrian Democratic Forces' yellow flag on an infamous traffic circle where the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group used to carry out public executions were beamed around the world Tuesday.

The Syrian Kurdish rebel group she belongs to, the Marxist-inspired People's Protection Units (YPG), forms the backbone of the SDF, which battled for over four months to capture Raqa.

The YPG prides itself on its promotion of gender equality and includes many women among its commanders.

As a top commander in its female branch -- the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) -- she rose through the ranks and found herself commanding one of the biggest operations ever against IS.

"Comrade Rojda is one of the main YPJ commanders," said YPJ spokeswoman Nesrin Abdullah, a founding member of the all-female unit, who fought alongside Felat in Raqa and elsewhere.

"Her character is shaped by her determination to fight for women's freedom," Abdullah told AFP in a phone interview.

"During this campaign she had a real impact: she raised the victory flag in ISIS's capital," she said, using an Arab acronym for IS.

Felat, who according to fellow SDF officers is 37 years old, assumed overall command of the first phase of the Raqa operation.

Command of later phases was then shared with others, including another YPJ female officer.

The jihadists, who ruled over large parts of Syria and Iraq for more than three years, "carried out the worst atrocities against women, they made them slaves and machines meant to satisfy their every desire," Abdullah said.

One of the worst crimes perpetrated by the ultra-violent jihadist group was the genocide against the Yazidi minority in northern Iraq which saw IS kidnap and enslave thousands of women and girls.

In various interviews Felat, who is from the Kurdish-majority city of Qamishli in northeast Syria, has spoken of the importance of promoting women in war.

She cites a diverse range of heroes, including early 20th century German philosopher and activist Rosa Luxemburg, but also Napoleon and Kurdish fighter Saladin.

"Whether as fighters or commanders, the Women's Protection Units always embody a spirit of camaraderie, a group spirit, there is always an awareness of our responsibility," said Jihad Sheikh Ahmed, spokeswoman for the SDF's Raqa operation.

"All the commanders, particularly Rojda, embody this."

On Tuesday, Felat grinned broadly, her weapon hanging from her shoulder, as she waved a massive SDF flag at al-Naim roundabout.

"It's a historical moment and we know it will change many things," she said, in a video posted by the YPG.

India-Pakistan
The politics of hate
[DAWN] IT was too outrageous an outburst for anyone to defend. So it is not surprising that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
distanced himself from his son-in-law’s hate speech on the floor of the National Assembly. The august house had perhaps never witnessed such bigotry targeting one of the most vulnerable religious communities in the country.

Equally troubling was the silence on both sides of the aisle, as no one found the courage to rebut Capt Safdar disrespecting national heroes because of their religious belief. If that were not enough, he led some of his supporters to raise slogans outside the hall hailing Mumtaz Qadri, a convicted assassin. But no action was taken against them for violating the sanctity of parliament.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah claims to have captured 3 Mossad agents
[Ynet] The Lebanese terrorist organization publishes photographs, confessions of three supposed agents who work for Israeli Mossad, whose mission was to gather information on political figures in Leb, as well as on military sites in Leb and Syria.

Leb-based terrorist group Hezbollah claimed on Monday that Lebanese security forces have detained three "agents on behalf of Israel," allegedly recruited by the Mossad. Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar television network broke the news, while the pictures and alleged confessions of the three men were published on the internet. The three's arrests were published last week in the al-Akhbar newspaper, which is also affiliated with the organization.

According to reports, the three were members of a spy cell that operated on behalf of Israel in the Mount Leb region. The members of the captured cell are reportedly from Leb. According to al-Akhbar, the cell's key operative instructing its members from afar was a Lebanese citizen who is currently in Israel.

According to the al-Manar network, the three are Karem Akram Idris, Kamal Ajud Hassan and Abbas Mustafa Salameh. Reports state that Hassan had admitted to be in contact with several Israelis in '11, among others with the IDF's Spokesperson Unit's Arab Media Liaison, Maj. Avichai Adrei. In addition, he said that he was in contact with an agent named Yosef Fahar, and that his operative's code name was "cowboy."

Idris allegedly began working for the Mossad in '15. Among his other instructions, he was sent to photograph Hezbollah artillery stations in the city of al-Qusayr, located on the outskirts of Homs, where Hezbollah's involvement in the civil war in Syria and the Beqaa Valley had begun. He then sent his operative footage of the organization's positions in al-Qusayr and its deployment there.

Salameh, a teacher, reportedly began collaborating with the Mossad about two years ago, through social networks. He contacted Samar Araj, another supposed Mossad agent, now believed to be on the run, who asked Salameh to photograph several areas in southern Leb. Salameh was also reportedly asked by the cell's operative to provide him with information about military sites and places belonging to the Lebanese political parties.

Salameh, for his part, asked for financial support in order to start a civil revolt in Leb. He told the operative that he was capable of rallying one of the civilian groups to action in an effort to slander Hezbollah's reputation. He also tried to get closer to people who knew Hezbollah members in order to obtain information from them that he would pass on to his Israeli operative.

In an article published last week in the al-Akhbar newspaper, it was claimed that several people working for the Mossad in Leb have recently been placed in durance vile
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
, and that their interrogations revealed that most of their missions were related to reconnaissance on Hezbollah operatives and strongholds.

Palestinian Shot While Trying to Stab Israeli Troops in W.Bank
[An Nahar] A Paleostinian ran towards Israeli troops while brandishing a knife in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday and soldiers shot and maimed him, the military said.

"An assailant armed with a knife ran towards troops adjacent to the Gush Etzion junction," an army statement said.

"In response to the immediate threat, soldiers fired shots towards the suspect. Subsequently, the suspect was injured and taken to hospital for medical treatment," it said.

A military spokeswoman told AFP that the attacker was a Paleostinian and that no soldiers were maimed.

Israeli media said the man was moderately to seriously maimed.

The Gush Etzion junction is a busy intersection near a large bloc of Israeli settlements in the southern West Bank and the scene of repeated attacks.

The violence, however, has largely subsided in recent months.

Israeli authorities say most of the Paleostinians killed were carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks.

Others were rubbed out in protests and festivities, while some were killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gazoo Strip.
Ynet adds:

Fusion GPS officials take the Fifth in Trump dossier interview on Capitol Hill
[FOXNEWS] Two top officials at the political research firm behind a salacious dossier alleging various Russian connections to President Trump's campaign invoked their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination before the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday.

Fusion GPS co-founder Peter Fritsch and top lieutenant Thomas Catan were subpoenaed to appear before the committee in a closed-door session on Wednesday but asserted their right not to testify, a source close to the matter told Fox News.

Fritsch and Catan took the Fifth on every question posed by committee members. Another co-founder, Glenn Simpson, is under subpoena for a later date.

The move was expected.

Last 'Fast And Furious' Suspect Arrested For Murder Of Border Patrol Agent
[DAILYWIRE] On Monday, Jesus Rosario Favela-Astorga, the last Mexican "rip crew" runaway entangled in the Obama Administration's Operation Fast and Furious, was charged with first-degree murder of border patrol agent Brian Terry, who was on killed December 14, 2010.

"The arrest of Favela Astorga resulted from the unwavering commitment of the United States and our law enforcement partners in Mexico to bring to justice those responsible for the murder of Agent Brian Terry, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country," read a statement from acting U.S. Attorney Alana Robinson.

The weapons used to murder Terry were found to be tied to Fast and Furious, an ATF operation gone bad wherein criminals were permitted to buy guns with the intent to eventually track such weapons when they made their way to Mexican drug lords. As noted by PJ Media, the plot to arm criminals backfired:

Instead, the ATF lost control of more than 1,400 out of the 2,000 guns they allowed smugglers to purchase. Two of the Fast and Furious guns were found at the scene of Brian Terry's death. Ostorio-Arellanes and Favela-Astorga were the two remaining members of a five-man cartel "rip crew" ‐ a group of bandidos who roam the desert along the U.S./Mexico border to rob drug smugglers of their loads, steal cash from illegal immigrants colonists, and sexually assault women.

Jefferson Davis school in Mississippi to be renamed after Barack Obama
[WASHINGTONTIMES] A predominantly black elementary school in Jackson, Mississippi, named after Confederate President Jefferson Davis, will be renamed after former President Barack Obama
Because I won...
, leaders announced Tuesday.

Davis Magnet IB PTA President Janelle Jefferson said during the Jackson Public Schools Board of Trustees meeting that school stakeholders voted earlier this month to rename the school Barack Obama Magnet IB, a move that will go into effect for the 2018-19 school year, The Clarion Ledger reported.

"Jefferson Davis, although infamous in his own right, would probably not be too happy about a diverse school promoting the education of the very individuals he fought to keep enslaved being named after him," Ms. Jefferson said.

"I wholeheartedly agree with the name," Board President Camille Simms said at Tuesday’s meeting.

In September, the board approved a policy that gave the PTA and the Davis community control in renaming the school. Parents, students and staff submitted name ideas to the PTA and voted on Oct. 5 using paper ballots, Mississippi Today reported.

Conspiracies being hatched against democracy, claims Bilawal
[DAWN] Pakistain People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto claimed that conspiracies were being hatched against democracy, he was addressing a rally in Hyderabad on Wednesday to mark to the 10th anniversary of Karsaz blasts.

He went on to accuse the PML-N of upholding a corrupt system that exploits the poor and declared that PPP's struggle is against that unfair system.

In a fiery

speech, the PPP chief said that his party has been facing challenges against dictators since its inception. Bilawal said that PPP's founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto along with his supporters, that included students and labourers, had struggled against General Ayub Khan and later against General Zia ul Haq
...the creepy-looking former dictator of Pakistain. Zia was an Islamic nutball who imposed his nutballery on the rest of the country with the enthusiastic assistance of the nation's religious parties, which are populated by other nutballs. He was appointed Chief of Army Staff in 1976 by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whom he hanged when he seized power. His time in office was a period of repression, with hundreds of thousands of political rivals, minorities, and journalists executed or tortured, including senior general officers convicted in coup-d'état plots, who would normally be above the law. As part of his alliance with the religious parties, his government helped run the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan, providing safe havens, American equipiment, Saudi money, and Pak handlers to selected mujaheddin. Zia died along with several of his top generals and admirals and the then United States Ambassador to Pakistain Arnold Lewis Raphel when he was assassinated in a suspicious air crash near Bahawalpur in 1988...

She was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistain People's Party, who was murdered at the instigation of General Ayub Khan. She was murdered in her turn by person or persons unknown while campaigning in late 2007. Suspects include, to note just a few, Baitullah Mehsud, General Pervez Musharraf, the ISI, al-Qaeda in Pakistain, and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, who shows remarkably little curiosity about who done her in...
's return to Pakistain on October 18, 2007, Bilawal said that the carnage on Karsaz Road that night was a significant example of PPP's sacrifices. He claimed that Musharraf could not stop a "sea of people" from coming out on the streets to welcome Benazir.

After Benazir's death, Bilawal claimed that former president Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
... husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in ...
had "battled" those who were against democracy and strengthened the system. Yet, conspiracies against democracy had not ended, Bilawal lamented.

Yemeni army captures some areas of Shabwa
Aden – The Yemeni national army regained control over new strategic locations in Shabwa, southern Yemen, during the last 24 hours of fighting against the Houthi and Saleh militias as intense air raids by the Saudi-led coalition to support the legitimacy continued.

Army spokesman Major General Mutlaq al-Maaroufi told Asharq Al-Awsat that the army had regained control of al-Akda, Al-Abara and Abdul Rahman strongholds in Osailan after bloody clashes with the militias, hours after the gunmen took control of these areas.

The militia withdrew from these areas before the army intensified its targeting and siege, Maaroufi said.

The Saudi-led coalition warplanes mounted an attack on gatherings of militias in Osailan, resulting in many casualties.

Maaroufi said the army had a new plan to impose its control over the militia-controlled Beihan district, following the new military changes to the command of the 19th Brigade.

Local sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that Houthis are sending reinforcements for their troops in the border areas between Beihan and Osailan.

For his part, activist Ahmed al-Mus’abi told Asharq Al-Awsat that Houthi militias are carrying out mass abductions and arrests and are storming many houses in Beihan.

He said that during the past two days, the militia had kidnapped dozens of people, including children amid the continued suffocating siege on the district.

In other field developments, field sources in the northwestern Hajjah governorate said that the artillery of the joint forces continued its heavy shelling of militia positions in Hayran and Hard districts.

In the past 24 hours, the sources estimated that the forces had launched more than 90 artillery shells.

Arab coalition fighters continued their air raids on militia positions, about two kilometers from the entrance of the Midi district, amid continuing heavy overflights along the border areas.

Powerful Explosion Rocks Swedish Police Station
[An Nahar] A powerful kaboom blew out the entrance to a cop shoppe in the southern Swedish city of Helsingborg early Wednesday, an attack authorities linked to their fight against organized crime.

The kaboom occurred just after midnight in the city center, which is home to around 100,000 people.

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven called it "an attack against our democracy" and urged authorities to "step up the fight against serious crime."

The blast, heard from as far away as 20 kilometers (12 miles), caused no injuries but serious material damage. The cop shoppe entrance was completely destroyed, with dozens of windows smashed.

Police sources quoted by daily Aftonbladet said several kilos (pounds) of explosives were used.

The head of the local police, Patric Heimbrand, told news hounds that Sherlocks were working on the presumption that "criminal circles" were behind the attack. He said police work against gangs was paying off and likely causing "irritation".

Explosives are often used by organized crime rings in Sweden, especially in the south where settling of scores and intimidation are frequent among narcos.

Police and judges are also regularly targeted.

On November 30, 2014, a blast damaged a building in the southern city of Malmo that housed police, prosecutors, a courthouse and penitentiary administration.

Heavily armed coppers were stationed outside those buildings on Wednesday.

Although the Nordic nation has a relatively low crime rate compared to the rest of Europe, physical violence against coppers has surged. In 2016, it rose by 65 percent with 86 cases reported, according to government figures.
