Meet The Punk Who Registered 19 Dead People In VA To Vote
In case you were wondering, he's... wait for it... a Democrat!
Just yesterday we wrote about an FBI investigation into potential voter fraud in the critical swing state of Virginia after it was revealed that 19 dead people had recently been re-registered to vote (see "FBI Investigating More Dead People Voting In The Key Swing State Of Virginia"). While the Washington Post caught wind of the investigation, it was not known who was behind the operation...until now.

Meet, Andrew Spieles, a student at James Madison University, and apparently "Lead Organizer" for HarrisonburgVOTES. According to the Daily News-Record, Spieles confessed to re-registering 19 deceased Virginians to vote in the 2016 election cycle.

While this should come as a surprise to precisely 0 people, Spieles just happens to be Democrat who, accorded to a deleted FaceBook post, apparently recently ran for Caucus Chair of the Virginia Young Democrats.

It's too bad really, sounds like Spieles had all the right "special talents" required to be very successful politician...he just forgot the most important first rule: "Don't get caught."
What's a good sentence for this sort of thing? I'm thinking one year in a minimum security prison, no chance of parole.

Hillary Sez Bernie Supporters 'Living In Mom's Basement'
1) She's largely right; 2) this broad has zero political instincts. None whatsoever.
One wonders whose fault it is that millions of young people are stuck in dead end jobs, living in their parents basement, while both Obama and Hillary make TV appearances touting the strength of the economic recovery.

But the punchline was what Hillary, who has been scrambling to secure the much-needed Millennial vote in recent weeks, truly thought about about the millions of young people whose vote she is trying to win: a diatribe of mockery, in which she describes the concept of a political revolution as a "false promise" which has attracted all these disillusioned and disheartened young people "living in their parents' basement." Does Hillary have anything to offer them? No, but she desperately needs their vote, even if behind the scenes at generously paid private functions, she mocks them in front of all those present.

We should all be really understanding of that and should try to do the best we can not to be, you know, a wet blanket on idealism. We want people to be idealistic. We want them to set big goals... But those of us who understand this, who've worked in it know that it's a false promise. But I don't think you tell idealistic people, particularly young people that they've bought into a false promise.

Especially when you are trying to secure their votes?

Then again, considering the eagerness with which Bernie Sanders has endorsed Wall Street's favorite candidate, it is quite clear that the real "false promise" here was Sanders' "revolution" all along. We wonder if in light of this hack, if Bernie Sanders would care to make some statement why he is endosing the candidate who behind closed doors, openly mocks everything that his supporters believe in.
To quote Joe Pesci in Casino, this woman could fuck up a cup of coffee.

The Real Evil in Charlotte

Keith Lamont Scott was scum.

He had been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in two different states and convicted of assault in three states. He had been hit with "assault with intent to kill" charges in the 90s. His record of virtue included "assault on a child under 12" and "assault on a female."

Scott's wife had taken out a restraining order against him and warned that he was dangerous because he carried a gun.

The media spin; "Family and neighbors call Scott a quiet ’family man.’"

Nothing says "quiet" like "assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill" and nothing says "family man" like assaulting women and children.

Keith Lamont Scott, the latest martyr of Black Lives Matter and its media propaganda corps, was shot while waving a gun around. He had spent 7 years in jail for "aggravated assault with a deadly weapon."

...But the truth doesn’t matter. Black Lives Matter rioters are still chanting, "Hands Up, Don’t Shoot" long after the Michael Brown lie fell apart. They’re holding up signs reading, "It Was a Book." The lie is backed by some of the biggest media corporations in the country, by $130 million from George Soros and the Ford Foundation, by Barack Hussein Obama and by Hillary Clinton.

These are the malign forces destroying Charlotte, as they trashed Baltimore. On the ground there are the vulture community organizers of Black Lives Matter, funded by the left, who parachute in to organize race riots, behind them are the reporters who sell the spin live on the air and the photographers who capture glamor shots of the racist rioters, and after them come the lawyers of the DOJ out to ruin, terrorize and intimidate whatever law enforcement survived the riots.

They did it in Ferguson and a dozen other places. Now they want to do it in Charlotte.

They want to do it because they hate white people and black people. They hate peace and decency. They hate the idea of people getting up in the morning and working for a living. They hate the idea of good officers, white and black men and women, like Brentley Vinson, who genuinely believe in doing the right thing. They want unearned power. They demand unearned wealth. And they thrive on destruction.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia says US 'aggression' in Syria would mean 'tectonic shifts'
"Direct aggression" by the United States towards the Syrian government and armed forces would lead to "frightening, tectonic shifts" in the Middle East, RIA news agency cited Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying on Saturday.

Russia and the United States back opposing sides in the Syrian conflict.

A US-Russian brokered ceasefire in Syria recently fell apart, and Russian war planes on Saturday struck rebel-held areas north of the Syrian city of Aleppo.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Tom Fitton - Judicial Watch: HRC Investigation not ending in January
(CNSNews.com) ‐ Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton revealed on Thursday that the FBI didn’t question aides to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about her use of a private email server to conduct government business until Judicial Watch was about to do so, and then used redacted documents the watchdog group had obtained under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Judicial Watch first uncovered the existence of Clinton’s private email server after receiving documents under FOIA during its investigation of the Benghazi scandal.

"It was our litigation that forced the FBI to do the half-baked investigation it did," Fitton pointed out during a panel discussion on the Clinton email scandal.

"As we find out more details about the FBI investigation, we found out that a lot of these investigations that the FBI was undertaking did not take place but for Judicial Watch’s pressure from the litigation. The witnesses weren’t questioned until it became clear Judicial Watch was either going to get discovery or was getting discovery and would be questioning some of these same witnesses," Fitton said.

"It was so bad that we just learned in the latest FBI document dump that the FBI was using documents that were produced to Judicial Watch under the Freedom of Information Act with redactions. So they couldn’t even get the full document. They were using those documents to question the witnesses.

"And of course there’s a lot of outrage about the FBI immunity agreements, the Department of Justice immunity agreements granted the Clinton aides at issue in this case," he added.

"Tens of thousands” of fraudulent Clinton votes found in Ohio warehouse
[Christian Times] Election officials in Franklin County, Ohio are reportedly stumped over what one maintenance worker found in a dilapidated downtown Columbus warehouse earlier this week.

According to sources, Randall Prince, a Columbus-area electrical worker, was doing a routine check of his companies wiring and electrical systems when he stumbled across approximately one dozen black, sealed ballot boxes filled with thousands of Franklin County votes for Hillary Clinton and other Democrat candidates.

"No one really goes in this building. It’s mainly used for short-term storage by a commercial plumber," Prince said.

So when Prince, who is a Trump supporter, saw several black boxes in an otherwise empty room, he went to investigate. What he found could allegedly be evidence of a massive operation designed to deliver Clinton the crucial swing state.
Update at 8:45 a.m. ET: Snopes claims this is a false report from a site that mainly engages in conspiracy mongering. Take a look at their photos and judge for yourself, dear Reader.

Europe
Swedes Reinforce Gotland Island Against Russian Invasion
[Newsweek] Sweden’s decision to reintroduce permanent troops to the island province of Gotland is wise in light of recent Russian aggression.

Swedish soldiers exercising on Gotland received an order September 14 not to leave. The 150 troops will remain on the island until mid-2017, when a planned permanent unit should be fully established there.

Sweden, which is not a member of NATO, has maintained a neutral status since the 19th century. However, it plays a vital role--both direct and indirect--in guaranteeing the security of the Baltic states, which are NATO members.

Gotland, Sweden’s largest island, is strategically located halfway between Sweden and Latvia in the middle of the Baltic Sea. Control over Gotland would prove crucial in the event of any future conflict in the region.

Due to its central location, Russia almost certainly factors the island into its Baltic Sea contingency planning.

Mercer: When America Becomes South Africa
[Unz Review] If African-Americans didn’t get out and vote for Hillary Clinton, they would be dissing him and his legacy. So warned President Barack Obama, in a speech at the Black Caucus Foundation in Washington DC, on September 17.

The woman whose election promises portend a war on whites, Walmart and the wealthy has nothing to fear. Obama’s political cant notwithstanding, there isn’t much of a chance blacks will side overwhelmingly with Hillary’s rival.
Champ visiting Mandela's cell on Robben Island
Like never before, the 2016 election has been characterized by "a muscular mobilization of a race-based community, coercive control of territory and appeals by powerful charismatic leaders."

What do I mean by "coercive control of territory"? Consider what would transpire if Donald Trump were to campaign "big-league" in Birmingham (Alabama), Charlotte (North Carolina), or South Los Angeles. Riots would erupt. (Incidentally, the thing where private property is invaded and looted is not called a protest.)

As sure as night follows day, the American democracy is destined to resemble that of South Africa, where a ruling majority party is permanently entrenched, and where voting is characterized by what has become Barack Obama’s signature tactic, a "muscular mobilization of the race-based community."

Algeria says 5 Islamists killed in army operation
[AlAhram] Five armed Islamists were killed in an army operation in a mountainous region of southeast Algeria on Thursday, the defence ministry said.

An army unit rubbed out the "five terrorists" in Jebel Ouslati near the Batna region, around 450 kilometres (280 miles) from the capital Algiers, said the ministry.

It said arms and "a large quantity" of munitions were seized.

Algerian authorities use the term "terrorists" for armed Islamists who have been active in the North African state since a devastating civil war in the 1990s.

This year, at least 106 suspected Islamists have been killed in army operations in the east and south of the country, according to an AFP count compiled from official statements.

IDF soldier moderately wounded in stabbing attack; assailant killed
[IsraelTimes] 24-year-old suffers injuries to upper body outside Qalandia checkpoint; some 200 Paleostinians riot near crossing
It's the weekend, and the lads are just looking for a bit of excitement.
An Israeli soldier was moderately maimed in a stabbing attack in the West Bank’s Qalandiya area north of Jerusalem on Friday, a police spokeswoman said. She said the Paleostinian attacker was rubbed out by surrounding forces.

The 24-year-old IDF soldier was stabbed by a 28-year-old assailant who approached the Israeli checkpoint at Qalandiya on foot, officials said. the attacker was shot by both a soldier from the Military Police and a civilian security guard, and was killed.

The soldier suffered stab wounds to his upper body. He was treated at the scene by paramedics who then took him to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem

The attacker was a Jerusalem native, according to AFP.

Some 200 Paleostinians were rioting at the Qalandia checkpoint an hour after the stabbing. Police said security forces at the checkpoint were using riot-dispersal means.

The Qalandiya checkpoint is the main crossing into the West Bank city of Ramallah.

after he approached a senior IDF officer while holding a knife, near the West Bank city of Hebron Friday afternoon, the army said.

The attacker approached the command vehicle of Col. Itzik Cohen outside the West Bank settlement of Negohot, southwest of Hebron, the army said. Soldiers wrestled the suspect to the ground and placed him under arrest. The soldiers did not use their firearms, and there were no injuries reported.

Cohen leads the Judea Regional Brigade, which is responsible for Hebron and the surrounding area.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was taken into custody for questioning, the army said.

On Wednesday, the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror group urged Paleostinians to hold a "Day of Rage" on Friday, coinciding with the state funeral of former Israeli president Shimon Peres, which was held on the same day. The call is meant to mark the one-year anniversary of the beginning of a wave of terror attacks, including stabbings and car-rammings throughout the West Bank and in Jerusalem, that launched in September 2015.

Turkish police raid prisons and courthouses in post-coup investigation
[AlAhram] Turkish police raided the country's biggest prison and courthouse on Friday after arrest warrants were issued for 162 personnel and prison guards as part of nationwide investigations over a failed coup in July, broadcaster CNN Turk reported.

for their alleged role in the attempted coup.

On Friday, prosecutors issued arrest warrants for 87 courthouse personnel and police raided three Istanbul courthouses, including the Caglayan courthouse where some of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Arrest warrants were also issued for 75 more jail guards and personnel in three separate prisons across Istanbul including the one in Silivri, the country's largest.

Media reports said the warrants were for people that authorities say have links with U.S.-based holy man Fethullah Gulen

Turkey opposition leader blasts Erdogan's 'counter coup'

[AlAhram] Turkey's main opposition party leader on Friday accused the government of seeking to capitalise on the July 15 coup to stifle dissent, and vowed to oppose moves to extend a three-month state of emergency.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), accused the government of using the July 15 attempted putsch to "stage another coup, a coup against democracy."

The government has imposed a three-month state of emergency after the botched coup, and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has suggested there might be a need to extend the measure even up to a year.

But Kilicdaroglu said: "We are in a process where the government is using the coup to expand its power and silence the opposition."

Up to 32,000 suspects have been remanded in custody, according to government figures. Arrests include top former generals accused of organising the coup but also people from every sector of life ranging from sweet pastry magnates to former footballers. Several prominent journalists and writers have also been placed under arrest, including the journalist Ahmet Altan and his brother Mehmet, an academic.

"Why are you putting handcuffs on journalists? Why do you detain intellectuals?" asked Kilicdaroglu.

Kilicdaroglu said his party would not support the state of emergency when it comes before the 550-seat parliament dominated by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

The CHP has 134 seats. As a result, the measure is likely to pass with the support of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

"Today the ruling party can shut down any newspaper it wants, push any businessmen it wants to bankruptcy or seize their assets under emergency laws," he told reporters in Istanbul. "This is a serious threat to democracy. Our first priority will be to keep the state of emergency as short as possible."

His comments mark a crumbling of the solidarity with the government shown by the CHP and MHP in the aftermath of the coup, which extended to even attending a pro-Erdogan mass rally.

The pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) was never invited to the meetings.

Kilicdaroglu promised to stand by victims of the coup who ended up in court, including the over 100 journalists who according to activists are currently jailed.

"What will we do against the counter coup? We will fight," he said.

Eight jets took off from the Charles de Gaulle in the eastern Mediterranean in the first operations since it left port in La Belle France on September 20, an AFP news hound on board reported.

French military officials refused to say whether the Rafale jets were to carry out air strikes or were on a reconnaissance mission.

But the return of the Charles de Gaulle to the region on its third mission since February 2015 is another sign of the steady build-up of forces for an offensive on Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city.

The United States is sending about 600 extra troops to Iraq to train local forces for an assault, Defence Secretary Ashton Carter said Wednesday. They will join 4,600 military personnel already in Iraq.

IS seized Mosul along with other areas of Iraq in June 2014, but Iraqi forces have since regained significant ground from the jihadists and are readying for an assault to retake Mosul with coalition air and artillery support.

The 24 planes on board the Charles de Gaulle triple La Belle France's bombing capacity in the region. Twelve French Rafale jets are already stationed in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

French jets have carried out more than 15,000 air strikes against IS targets in Iraq and Syria since 2014, which represents around five percent of the total undertaken by the US-led coalition.
So 30,000 is 10%... or 300,000 total...
US planes account for 80 percent of the strikes.
...or 240,000, an awful lot more than the less than 25 a day we were reporting here back when we were seeing such announcements, unless we count things differently than they do.
French Defence Minister Yves Le Drian said recently the carrier would help improve the coalition's information-gathering capabilities. It will "improve the information for the forces which will be given the task to win back Mosul," he said.

Around 500 French soldiers are based in Iraq, advising Kurdish peshmerga forces in northern Iraq and helping to train elite Iraqi army units.

The extra US forces announced this week will head to Qayyarah, a strategically key air base 40 miles (65 kilometres) south of Mosul that will help channel supplies and troops towards the city. They will also help increase the capabilities at the joint Iraqi-US Al Asad air base for night operations and operations in low visibility.

14 soldiers killed in anti-Boko Haram operations: Niger
[AlAhram] Niger's army said Friday that 14 of its soldiers and scores of Boko Haram fighters had been killed during a multi-month sweep operation in the nation's southeast.

Defence ministry spokesman Colonel Moustapha Ledru told state television that "123 terrorists" had been killed and "a large quantity of arms recovered from the insurgents." It was not possible to independently verify this number.

Ledru said 14 soldiers were killed and 29 wounded in the joint operations with Chad's military took place between July and September 28.

They targeted the Diffa region, which lies just across the border from the Islamists' stronghold in northeastern Nigeria.

Ledru said the "terrorists" who had been killed had "infiltrated" into Diffa from Nigeria, adding that two fighters had been captured.

Boko Haram's seven-year insurgency has left at least 20,000 people dead in Nigeria and border areas of neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon, and made more than 2.6 million homeless.

Attacks in Niger's Diffa region began in February 2015.

Israel sends $20 million to Turkey for families of Mavi Marmara victims
[IsraelTimes] Funds are part of a reconciliation deal signed 3 months ago to restore ties with Ankara following a six-year rift

Israel has paid The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
$20 million in compensation for the deadly storming of an aid ship in 2010, a key pillar of a deal signed in June to restore ties after a six-year rift.

The money has been transferred to the account of the Turkish justice ministry, a Turkish foreign ministry official told AFP on Friday, asking not to be named.

Relations between the former allies deteriorated with the rise of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
’s AKP to power, then broke off almost completely in 2010 following an Israeli naval raid on a Turkish flotilla trying to breach Israel’s blockade of the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,-controlled Gazoo Strip.

The raid, in which IDF commandos were attacked by activists on board, left 10 Turks dead and several soldiers maimed.

The compensation to the victims’ families was one of the three key demands by Turkey for the reconciliation deal with Israel, along with an apology and an easing of the blockade on the Hamas-ruled Gazoo Strip. An apology by Israel was issued three years ago.

While the blockade remains in place amid Israeli concerns that Hamas would import weapons and other materiel, Ankara has been able to resume delivery of humanitarian aid to the Paleostinians through Israeli ports under the deal.

The Turkish government is due to pass on the compensation money to the families of the victims in due course.
...i.e. some time between next week and after the arrival of the Messiah. But in the meantime it can be loaned to the government to build some of the courthouses, jails, and prisons Sultan Recep I so urgently needs.
Turkey and Israel also agreed that individual Israeli nationals would not be held criminally or financially liable for the Mavi Marmara incident.

And a final key element is the exchange of ambassadors, who were pulled out of Ankara and Tel Aviv in the wake of the crisis even though diplomatic ties were never fully severed.

The official said that a Turkish ambassador to Israel will be appointed "soon."
See the definition of timing above.
The agreement had been urged by the United States, which is keen to see its NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
ally, overwhelmingly Moslem Turkey, resume its previously tight relationship with Israel.

Belgium to expand security push beyond Molenbeek, cut foreign fighters off welfare
[HOT AIR] Ever since authorities in Belgium discovered that the terror cell that carried out the Paris attack (and the subsequent Brussels attack) was operating out of a Brussels neighborhood called Molenbeek, there has been a push to identify possible threats in the area. Now the Wall Street Journal reports that push is going to expand beyond Molenbeek into other parts of the city:

In the Brussels district of Schaerbeek, for example, terrorists rented two flats and prepared the bombs for both the Paris and the Brussels attacks.

"We focused on Molenbeek because of all the media attention at the time," Brussels Police Commissioner Luc Ysebaert said on the sidelines of the news conference. "The other districts--like Schaerbeek--will also get reinforcements, but from October on."

The government is in talks with six other Brussels districts about deploying additional officers, Mr. Jambon said.

The plan is to essentially go house to house in these neighborhoods and make sure no one inside has recently been to Syria and back.
" 'Ave you been to Syria, sir?"
"Mais non! Only to gay Paris."
"Thank you very much, sir. Sorry to disturb your tranquility."
Another effort will be to crack down on welfare fraud. It turns out some of the Paris attack planners were living off welfare while they planned the attack:
I am shocked. Truly I am.

When they pick up their check, and they must, they have to use their thumb print as identification. That might make so of the readers here panic at the thought; however, this technique is used for Global Entry Passes.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
FBI Docs Show Clinton's Private Server Was Made on K Street
[Free Beacon] FBI files released last week as part of the Hillary Clinton email investigation show that her private server was made in a makeshift lab on K Street, Fox News reported Friday evening.

The report also noted that it took Clinton's IT specialist, Bryan Pagliano, months to create the server.

If Hillary Clinton's "home-brew" server ever got the Mary Shelley treatment, IT specialist Bryan Pagliano would make a fine Dr. Frankenstein - FBI documents reveal new details about how he painstakingly created the machine over a series of months while working in a room along Washington's storied K Street.

According to files released last Friday evening, Pagliano worked to design and build the now-infamous server inside a room once used as part of Clinton's campaign headquarters. On the street known as Washington's power corridor, Pagliano even used computer remnants from Clinton's failed 2008 presidential bid, where he had worked as an IT specialist.

Pagliano said that after he made the server in the K Street lab, he rented a minivan and drove the server to Chappaqua, New York to install it in Clinton's home, according to Fox.

Only takes our IT folks about a week to build and commission a monster box out of a little workroom. It might take me longer than that to do it myself, but I don't drink as much coffee as they do.

Even less when they buy it somewhere.

Can't even imagine that it would take him this long to 'design' and build unless he is an absolute idiot or couldn't find the right Flame Stickers for the case.

Europe
Former NATO Chief: The United States Should Be the World's ‘Policeman'
[Free Beacon] Anders Fogh Rasmussen was prime minister of Denmark from 2001 to 2009, and months later began serving as NATO secretary general until 2014. He is currently promoting his new book, The Will to Lead: America’s Indispensable Role in the Global Fight for Freedom. The Washington Free Beacon interviewed Mr. Rasmussen during a visit this week to Washington D.C.
An entire book devoted to how and why the U.S. should assist Europe? Perhaps I'll see it at a garage sale.
Washington Free Beacon: What motivated you to write The Will to Lead?

Anders Fogh Rasmussen: Two things. First of all, I realized during my terms as prime minister of Denmark, and not least as secretary general of NATO, that we need more determined American global leadership. And secondly, something that’s even more personal. Right from my childhood, I have been very much engaged in the transatlantic relationship. So I’ve always had a strong interest in what’s going on in America. For these two reasons, even before I left my post as secretary general, I decided that once I was released from my duties I would spend time writing this book.

Persecution of albinos is rooted in the belief that the body parts can transmit magical powers, however, they are also ostracised by those who believe that they are cursed and bring bad luck.

In some places, they are killed at birth, ritually sacrificed, or raped because it is believed that having sex with an albino can cure AIDS.

Brennan: Comments That 'Taint' Islam 'Tremendously Detrimental' to Counterterrorism
[PJ] WASHINGTON -- CIA Director John Brennan said comments that "taint" Islam "as being the source of the problem" are "tremendously detrimental to our interests and to a better understanding of this phenomenon" of terrorism.

Speaking at the Washington Ideas Forum this week, Brennan said he's met with "princes or presidents and prime ministers throughout the Middle East" who are "outraged that their community -- their Muslim community -- has been infected by this cancer, individuals who have this distorted and very perverted interpretation of Islam that pursue these psychopathic agendas of horrific violence, and they recognize that they have a very important role -- the leading role to help purge their communities of these influences."

"These individuals who are fanatics -- extremists and terrorists -- they are driven by this ideology that is not rooted in Islam," Brennan said. "It's a psychopathic ideology that is very absolutist, that either you are with us or against us."

"And that's why the establishment of the caliphate -- the so-called caliphate by ISIL, as well as al-Qaeda's agenda, really, are trying to cause this ...clash of civilizations. They want to drive this wedge between the West and the Muslim world."

#4  Brennan said. "It's a psychopathic ideology that is very absolutist, that either you are with us or against us."

You calling out George W. because I think he said this shortly after 911 ("You are with us or against us")? It was a good slogan for rallying the country and letting our enemies know we were not going to stand for them providing support to our enemies. It was unambiguous. None of the namby-pamby chicken-shit mealy-mouthed tripe that comes out today such as "Leading from Behind." No apology tours. No drawing of movable red lines in the sand.

I don't recall that we separated the good Germans from the Nazi or the good Japanese from the military shintoists. Like radical Islam, the Shintoists were embedded in Japanese culture as are the radical Islamists in Muslim life. Recognition that radical Islam is embedded deeply in Islam would have shortened the WOT. Of course that was then and this is now. But then we used to win wars too. And that was when Congress declared war on our enemies—not the President or the Secretary of State behind closed doors.

Serbian police arrest migrants who fled airport detention

[Ynet] Serbian police say they have arrested two migrants after they fled from detention at Belgrade airport. Police said Friday that the two Tunisians face charges of illegal border crossing and people-smuggling. They say the men escaped Thursday from temporary detention facilities at the airport. Local media reported migrants arrived on a plane from Tunisia and were not allowed into Serbia. Reports say they broke through the detention room wall.

Germany Revises Down 2015 Refugee Arrivals to 890,000

[AnNahar] Germany has revised down the number of asylum seekers it took in last year from 1.1 million to 890,000, Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said Friday. He also reported a sharp drop so far this year to 210,000 people seeking safe haven in the biggest EU economy as of last week.

De Maiziere cited new centralised figures that are more precise than previous anonymised first-registration data, which did not allow for people being counted multiple times or for those who had since left Germany. The minister said of the 890,000 arrivals last year -- equivalent to over one percent of the national population -- that "the number is still very high".

Berlin has also declared some states in the western Balkans and north Africa "safe countries of origin", making it harder for their citizens to obtain refugee status in Germany, and sought deals to speed up deportations of those refused asylum.

Morocco to Speed Up Repatriation of Illegals from Germany

[AnNahar] Morocco has agreed to streamline the procedures for the repatriation of citizens living illegally in Germany, the royal court said late on Thursday.

A wave of sexual assaults by migrants on New Year's Eve outraged German public opinion. Around 30 of the 73 suspects arrested were Moroccan.

Speaking in Vienna last weekend, Merkel said Europe needed to secure more deals with third countries on the repatriation of migrants who do not qualify for asylum.

"It is necessary to get agreements with third countries, especially in Africa... so that it becomes clear that those with no right to stay in Europe can go back to their home countries," she said.

The Akhbar Al-Yom newspaper reported on Friday that the more than 10,000 repatriation cases were to be considered but the interior ministry said the figure was erroneous as no precise data existed.

Bulgaria Bans Full-Face Islamic Veil

[AnNahar] Bulgaria's parliament approved on Friday legislation outlawing face-covering Islamic veils in public, joining a small number of EU countries as debate rages across Europe about religious freedoms.

The law "bans wearing in public clothing that partially or completely covers the face", referring to the burqa or the more common niqab. Infringements carry fines of 200 leva (103 euros, $114), rising to 1,500 leva for repeated offenses.

Bulgaria's mostly centuries-old Muslim community, dating back to conversions during Ottoman times, makes up around 13 percent of the population, mostly in the Turkish minority. Muslim women in Bulgaria have generally worn just a simple scarf to cover their hair.

But recently there has been a small rise in the number of women wearing the niqab among ultra-conservative Muslim communities of the Roma minority. The often impoverished and marginalized Roma make up just under 10 percent of Bulgaria's population, around a third of whom are Muslim. Several Bulgarian towns had already banned the niqab at local level.

The legislation was approved despite opposition from the MDL Turkish minority party which accused the other parties of "sowing religious intolerance".

France and Belgium have both banned the burqa or niqab and Switzerland's lower house this week narrowly approved a draft bill on a nationwide ban. In August Germany's interior minister came out in favor of a partial ban. France was also this summer embroiled in a row over bans on the burkini, a full-body Islamic swimsuit, in resorts around the Riviera. A poll published earlier this month showed Britons to be strongly in favor of a burqa ban.

Veterans' Bodies Left to Decompose in VA Hospital Morgue
[Moonbattery]
An Illinois Veterans Affairs hospital already under fire for excessive wait times, festering black mold and kitchen cockroaches [repeatedly served in food] faces a new shame - the bodies of dead patients left unclaimed in the morgue for up to two months without proper burial, whistleblower documents allege.

The whistleblower, whose identity is not being revealed for fear of retaliation, complained last month to the VA's inspector general about the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital's handling of veterans' remains in cases where families have not come forward to claim the body. The complaint singled out Christopher Wirtjes, chief of Patient Administrative Services, saying "The Chief of PAS has the funds available, yet has no sense of urgency to lay the veteran to rest."

Of course the funds are available; the Obama Administration has been setting new records for revenue. If giving money to bureaucrats solved problems, we would have heaven on earth by now.

On at least one occasion, a body had liquefied and the bag burst when staff had attempted to move it, said Alissa McCurley, [Senator Mark] Kirk's deputy chief of staff.

The incident took place in the Baloch Colony area of the metropolis.

The prisoners, identified as Mohammad Imtiaz and Abdul Malik were arrested from Korangi, and were involved in the murder of a police constable.

The under-trial prsioners were being transported back in a private vehicle after attending court proceedings in an anti-terrorism court (ATC).

Assailants also snatched the official weapons of the police officials before fleeing the scene of the incident.

The police officials were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment, where one was pronounced dead on arrival and the other is stated to be in critical condition.

Both suffered gunshot wounds to the head from close range.

Afghans launch new offensive in Kunduz
Security officials in Kunduz said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with police force members have launched a large-scale military operation to clear Aqtash district of Taliban.

According to the officials, dozens of villages were cleared of the Taliban in the military operation and in addition to that, Taliban's key commander Mullah Ahmad Shah was killed in the offensive.

Aqtash, Gul Tepa and Kalbad districts were formed by President Ashraf Ghani last year.

The three districts were under the control of Taliban when President Ghani ordered to establish them; however, after heavy clashes since then, government have control over the districts.

Army officials in Kunduz said they have taken primary steps to retake the districts and clear the region of militants.

"Taliban's strongholds and weapons have been destroyed. Our fight is for peace," said General Amanullah Mobin, commander of Army Commando.

Reports indicate that Taliban suffered heavy casualties in the operation.

According to local officials, parts of Dasht-e-Archi, Qala-e-Zal and Khanabad districts are also under Taliban's control and heavy clashes are ongoing between security forces and militants in the areas.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Today's Idiot
Man Uses Raccoon To Start Breathalyzer Equipped Car; Raccoon Then Attacks Driver

[DETROIT.CBSLOCAL] A man who needed to blow into a Breathalyzer to start his car was too drunk to do so, according to a report. What he did next is almost unbelievable. According to what appeared to be a police report posted on Imgur, this guy somehow found a raccoon going through the garbage, captured it and then used the raccoon to blow into the Breathalyzer.

According to the report that was shared on Imgur, the raccoon became unconscious so the man left the raccoon in the car and drove off. A short time after, the raccoon woke up and started to attack the driver.

I’m not one to judge, but generally when you have a Breathalyzer on your steering wheel it’s there because you haven’t made the best decisions in the past. And this, I have to believe, would have been this man’s rock bottom. It would also have been the raccoon’s.

It’s a fun tale, but the San Diego Union-Tribune says it didn’t happen despite the Internet hype. "I called police records, and while they were highly entertained, they confirmed (the story) is absolutely a hoax," said 1st. Lt. Savannah Frank, a public affairs officer at Camp Pendleton, per the Union-Tribune.
Points to the reporter for checking original sources to see if it was true.

Mexican magazine portrays Donald Trump as Hitler on its cover
[BusinessInsider] The Mexican magazine Letras Libres made a blatant comparison between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler on the cover of its October issue, superimposing blocky text reading "Fascista Americano" above Trump's lip on a close-up photo.

Enrique Krauze, the magazine's editor, is a frequent critic of Trump and argued in a recent Slate article that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto made a "historic error" in inviting the Republican nominee to the country in August.

"From Trump, Mexico received only words, words worth no more than the paper they were scribbled on," Krauze wrote. "In exchange, Mexico, filling the sad role of the useful idiot, gave a bigot the pat on the back that he required."

Trump has referred to immigrants from Mexico as drug dealers, rapists, and criminals and declared that Mexico will pay for the construction of a wall along the US border.

Afghanistan
10 die in Taliban bomb attack in Badghis
At least 10 Afghan civilians were killed in an explosion in the northwestern Badghis province of Afghanistan, local officials said Friday.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Khalid Safi said the incident took place late on Thrusday in Qads district after a civilian vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive device (IED).

He said the vehicle carrying civilians was on its way from Langar area to the outskirts of the district when it struck an IED planted by the Taliban militants.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.

Taliban insurgents and militants belonging to the other insurgent groups frequently use Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces but the ordinary civilians are often targeted in such attacks.

IEDs are considered as the main motive behind the growing casualties of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) besides contributing largely to civilian casualties.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in its latest report said the anti-government elements remain responsible for 60 percent of the civilian casualties with ground engagements continuing to cause the highest number of civilian casualties, followed by complex and suicide attacks and improved explosive devices (IEDs).

Arabia
Houthis recruit kidz, wimmin for fighting
Explaining this report from yesterday.
[AAWSAT] Aden- Yemen has recently witnessed an unprecedented surge in militia recruitment carried out by Houthis and allies who strive to demolish aspects of constitutional legitimacy in the war-torn country.

The step up in recruitment, which kicked off two years ago after Iran-backed militants took over Sana’a, has been paralleled to a similar experience in the Middle East, the so-called Hezbollah group based in Lebanon.

Iranian strategy is evident in the approach Houthi militias employ for enrolling new members in the group.

Abdulsalam Mohammad, a Yemeni political analyst, explains that Houthis resorting to drafting women serves as clear evidence of the group’s direction towards radicalizing the community and eventually securing the insurgency’s control over it.

The Iran-inspired strategy works mainly on launching community male breadwinners into frontline cannon fire, leaving behind widows with no support at home and with hungry mouths to feed.

Widowed women, after recruitment, would be indoctrinated by Houthi ideology and raise orphaned youth to become a stronger military bulk replacing the older generation of father militants.

Extorting women’s needs and luring them into violence stands against their internationally recognized rights.

“The Motive behind involving women is the consequential luring of youth into recruitment,” says Mohammad.

The Yemeni analyst also spoke of Houthis resorting to break into homes, staging physical violence against women and pillaging their jewelry and savings.

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper research center Masarat’s president called on all international bodies and organizations to document all insurgency violations in Yemen, having them breach international law and are considered war crimes.

Houthi fighters have been reported to recruit and arm minors, in addition to prying them away from their families and mothers.

A report finds thousands of children in Yemen dying from direct involvement in the brutal war. The U.N. Children’s Fund says the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation is devastating their lives.

UNICEF reports a massive increase in the recruitment and use of child soldiers as the fighting continues to intensify. The agency has verified 848 cases of children, some as young as 10, being drafted by several warring parties in Yemen.

Spain: Former Gitmo Detainee Sentenced to 11.5 Years for Al-Qaeda Recruitment
[BREITBART] A former Guantánamo prisoner released in 2006 after he was extradited to Spain has reportedly been sentenced to 11 1/2 years in prison by Spanish court for leading a recruiting cell for al-Qaeda out of the European country’s capital.

In 2005, Lahcen Ikassrien, a 48-year-old Moroccan, was extradited to Spain from the U.S. military prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, where he was taken after being tossed in the calaboose

in Afghanistan four years earlier for fighting for al-Qaeda ally the Taliban.

In Spain, he claimed he was tortured at the Guantánamo facility, also known as Gitmo, and was released in 2006 after a court determined there was not enough evidence to affiliate him with al-Qaeda.

According to the most recent U.S. government statistics, nearly 30 percent of Gitmo prisoners who have been liberated are either confirmed or suspected of having returned to terrorist activities.

This week, Ikassrien was found guilty of leading a cell out of Spain’s capital Madrid that provided recruits to Syria for the terrorist groups Islamic State

when both were operating under the al-Qaeda umbrella.

"The court also sentenced eight members of the cell -- six Moroccans, an Argentinian and a Bulgarian -- to eight years in jail for membership of a terrorist organization," reports Agence La Belle France-Presse (AFP).

"The accused had full knowledge that the jihadist groups Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant

were jihadist structures under the umbrella of al-Qaeda," the court reportedly said in its ruling.

It added that the cell "recruited, radicalized, indoctrinated and then sent jihadist volunteers" to Syria for the two groups between 2011 and June 2014 when police disbanded it.

While the Islamic State broke off from al-Qaeda in February 2014, al-Nusra recently claimed to have cut ties with the group and changed its name to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham

Russia is beefing up its air force in Syria
Russia has reinforced its air base in Syria with several bombers and is ready to send ground attack aircraft as it intensifies support for Syrian government troops after the collapse of a ceasefire plan, Russia's Izvestia daily reported on Friday.
Do those fellas FLY Su-24's and Su-34's or eat them ?
A group of Su-24 and Su-34 frontline bombers have already arrived at the Hmeymim base, Izvestia wrote, quoting an unnamed military official. "If need be, the air force group will be (further) built up within two to three days," he said.

"Su-25 ground attack fighters designated to be sent to Hmeymim have already been selected in their units and their crews are on a stand-by, awaiting orders from their commanders."

Russia's defence ministry did not immediately respond to a request from Reuters for comment.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday said there is no point pursuing further negotiations with Russia over Syria, leaving Washington without a backup plan and scrambling to develop new options to stop the mounting carnage.

He told several hundred people chanting anti-India slogans that The Mighty Pak Army should teach India a lesson.

Pakistain has sharply criticized India over its clampdown in Indian-controlled Kashmire following the killing of a popular bad boy leader in July.

More than 80 civilians have been killed and thousands injured, mostly by government forces firing bullets and shotgun pellets at rock-throwing protesters.

Syrian army advances in Aleppo
[ArabNews] BEIRUT: Syrian regime forces advanced in the battleground city of Aleppo Friday, backed by a Russian air campaign that a monitor said has killed more than 3,800 civilians in the past year.

The Doctors Without Borders (MSF) charity accused Syria’s government and its ally Moscow of provoking a “bloodbath” in the city, saying the eastern rebel-held portion had become “a giant kill box.”

Syria’s army was advancing on two Aleppo fronts, as talks between key players Washington and Moscow — which back opposing sides in the war — appeared on the verge of collapse.

Recently-emerged militant group claims attack on Egyptian prosecutor
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A recently-emerged myrmidon group called the Hasm Movement grabbed credit on Friday for an liquidation attempt on a senior Egyptian prosecutor, saying it was in Dire Revenge for death sentences handed to thousands of convicts.

The organization, which has claimed four other attacks since July, said it set off the boom-mobile that went kaboom! near a vehicle carrying assistant prosecutor general Zakaria Abdel Aziz from his office to his home in Cairo on Thursday.

He and his entourage were not hurt but one passerby was maimed.

Hasm, the Arabic word for decisiveness, accused judges of sentencing thousands of innocent defendants to death, or jailing them for life, at the behest of the military. "You will face justice," it said in a statement that mixed Islamist and anti-government political rhetoric.

Egypt is facing an Islamist insurgency led by ISIS’s branch in North Sinai, where hundreds of soldiers and police have been killed.

Judges and other bigwigs have increasingly been targeted by radical Islamists angered by hefty prison sentences imposed on members of the now-outlawed Moslem Brüderbund.

The Brotherhood, which says it is a peaceful organization, won Egypt's first free elections after the 2011 uprising that ended Hosni Mubarak

's 30-year rule.

But its presidential candidate, Mohammed Mursi, was himself deposed after mass protests against his rule and replaced by general turned President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi in 2013.

Sisi has since overseen a crackdown on opposition in which hundreds of Brotherhood supporters were killed and thousands, including Mursi, enjugged

or sentenced to death.

Hasm’s statement on Friday included several photographs of what appeared to be Abdel Aziz’s car with the caption "target’s car" as well as his house and guards.

Hasm has also said it was behind an liquidation attempt last month on Egypt’s former Grand Mufti, Ali Gomaa, once one of the country’s top religious authorities.

Gomaa is an outspoken critic of Islamist groups, including the Moslem Brüderbund, and in his previous job had the final say on whether to confirm death sentences.

Egypt receives second shipment of MRAP vehicles from US

[AlAhram] The vehicles were originally designed for US military operations in Afghanistan and provide more protection for soldiers.

This is not the first shipment that the US has transferred to Egypt. Last May, an initial shipment of a total of 762 MRAP vehicles was transferred to Egypt from the US at no-cost under the US Department of Defence’s Excess Defense Articles grant programme.

The new vehicles, originally designed for US military operations in Afghanistan, provide enhanced levels of protection to soldiers, and are proven to save lives.

ISIS mutilates 2 in Raqqa

[ARA News] RAQQA – The Islamic State (ISIS) group amputated hands of two of its own militants on Friday, after accusing them of stealing.

Two members of the ISIS-linked Islamic Police, also known as al-Hisba, were charged with stealing a car and military equipment from a weaponry storage centre in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa Governorate–a de facto capital for the ISIS self-declared Caliphate.

“The Islamic State publicly cut off the hands of the two Hisba members in central Raqqa on Friday evening,” local media activist Hassan al-Raqawi told ARA News.

“They were caught in a stolen car earlier on Thursday. The Sharia Court said that the two suspects have also stolen military equipment that belonged to the Islamic State,” the source reported, citing an ISIS member.

ISIS has called on the people of Raqqa to witness the public punishment.

“Hundreds of people gathered in the Market Square of Raqqa City and watched the chopping of the two men’s hands,” an eyewitness told ARA News.

According to activists, by punishing its own militants in public, ISIS tries to show the people of Raqqa that it won’t allow any violations against its rules, not even such violations are committed by its own members.

The Grand Turk
Turkey proposes working with Arab SDF fighters to capture Raqqa
That's some of that famed Turkish byzantine plotting right there.
[RUDAW.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has proposed working with Arab fighters within the Syrian Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for any future operation to capture Raqqa from Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) bully boys.

"The Arab elements of the SDF should learn to cooperate with the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA). We want the Arab elements of the SDF and the FSA to establish a joint administration in Manbij," a senior Turkish official told Hurriyet news.

"These Arabs should act together in a military offensive towards Raqqa, too," the official added.

The main group within the SDF is the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which Turkey charges is closely linked with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and refuses to work with.

Ankara agreed to permit the SDF, including YPG elements, to cross westward of the Euphrates River to recapture Manbij from ISIS earlier this year. They successfully did so but Turkey is frustrated that the YPG have not completely withdrawn.

Erdogan: State of Emergency Will be Extended by Three Months
Unexpectedly.
[Asharq al-Aswat] The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
said that the Turkish government has proposed to extend the state of emergency by an extra three months at the recommendation of the National Security Council.

At a meeting with officials responsible for neighbourhoods and cities on Thursday, Erdogan stressed that the state of emergency is important and does not affect the lives of citizens. He added that there is no reason for the decision to be criticised and stressed that the extension of the state of emergency is in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s best interests.

Erdogan said cleansing the state of terrorist is a complex issue to a certain extent, and believes that the original three-month state of emergency that was declared after the failed July 15 coup attempt was not sufficient. He added that the National Security Council recommended that the government extend it by a further three months in an extraordinary meeting that it held on Wednesday evening. He also pointed out that La Belle France has extended the state of emergency in stages to a year and did not ask anyone in the world about it, indicating the possibility of extending the state of emergency in Turkey to 12 months.

The Turkish National Security Council recommended that the state of emergency that was declared in the country against the backdrop of the failed coup attempt that took place in mid-July be extended at an extraordinary meeting chaired by Erdogan that lasted for several hours.

Iraq
14 ISIS Turbans smoked in Kirkuk airstrikes
[ARA News] KIRKUK – At least 14 members of the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed in an airstrike in the Iraqi district of Hawija, west of Kirkuk, military sources reported on Friday.

In coordination with the Iraqi army forces, the US-led coalition bombed a major ISIS headquarters in Hawija.

Abu Nassir al-Zawbayi, the ISIS-commander of Hawija District, was killed along with 13 other militants in the airstrike.

“The targeted building was one of the confidential ISIS strongholds in the district. Our informers on the ground provided us with accurate information on this key location, and we expected al-Zawbayi to be there in the time of the air raid,” Salim al-Jabouri, a commander in the Iraqi army, told ARA News.

“Killing al-Zawbayi is another victory for our forces against Daesh,” the commander said, using an Arabic acronym for ISIS.

The official pointed out that a high level of coordination between the Iraqi Army, Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the international coalition “has led to major victories” in the anti-ISIS campaign.

“Daesh won’t be able to resist for long, especially after suffering heavy losses in manpower and equipment in different parts of Iraq,” al-Jabouri told ARA News.

United Nations unable to function in held Kashmir due to India's non-cooperation
[DAWN] UN Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon on Friday regretted the fact that the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
Military Observer Group in India and Pakistain (UNMOGIP) was unable to fully function in held Kashmire due to India’s non-cooperation.

The UN’s military mission is only able to operate on the Pak controlled side of the LoC, as India refuses to accept its functioning on the other side and opposes its expansion, said the UN secretary general.

Pakistain's Permanent Representative to UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi, in the meeting with the top diplomat, asked the UN secretary general to ensure that UNMOGIP is able to report facts independently regarding the situation in held Kashmire to the UN Security Council.

Lodhi said during the meeting that Pakistain has exercised maximum restraint but would respond forcefully to any acts of aggression and provocation.

She added that the responsibility for the escalating crisis rests entirely with India.

The UN secretary general urged both Pakistain and India to de-escalate tensions and offered the organization’s assistance in the matter. He also conveyed condolences on the deaths of two Pakistain Army soldiers.

Ambassador Lodhi said India has, by its declarations and actions, created conditions that pose an imminent threat to regional and International peace and security.

Thousands of dead Pennsylvanians received public assistance benefits
[FOX43] An audit of the Department of Human Services found thousands of dollars in state public assistance benefit funds were paid out to recipients who were already deceased, Auditor General Eugene DePasquale said Thursday.

According to the audit, 2,324 recipients who were already dead received $693,161 in public assistance funds on their EBT accounts between July 2013 and June 2014.

"Not only does DHS continue to put dollars on the cards assigned to individuals who have died, it often fails to detect use of those dollars," DePasquale said at a news conference Thursday.

Digging deeper into some of these recipients, investigators found that benefits paid to deceased recipients were still being used to make purchases.

"In one of the cases we found a cardholder who died on May 1, 2013, continued to receive $200 per month placed on their EBT card through September," he said in a news release. "Then, over a 22-day period in December 2013 and January 2014, nearly $800 in purchases were made with that card."

The Department of Human Services disputed the numbers given by DePasquale, saying its calculations found $331,432 in incorrect payments over the same time period. The department claims it recovered $681,660 from the accounts of the deceased in this audit.

ISIS suspect extradited to Germany from France
[AlArabiya] A suspected member of the ISIS group who turned himself in to French authorities and revealed plans of an attack plot has been extradited to Germany.

Federal prosecutors said Friday that Saleh A.,
...a busy man, but his heart in the end was in the right place...
a 29-year-old Syrian whose last name wasn't given in accordance with German privacy laws, was turned over on Thursday.

He and three other men face charges in Germany of membership in a terrorist organization for allegedly plotting an attack in the western city of Duesseldorf. Prosecutors say they all were enjugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
before they had formed a concrete plan.

After the suspect turned himself in Gay Paree on Feb. 1, his information led to the arrests in Germany of his three alleged co-conspirators, Syrian citizens ages 25, 27 and 31 who were living in refugee shelters.
That would be 27-year-old Hamza C., 25-year-old Mahood B., and Abd Arahman A. K., 31, who were arrested in the states of Brandenburg near Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Wurttemberg, according to this article from the archives.

Fazl compares Fata situation with Kashmir
[DAWN] Even as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
is busy highlighting the plight of the Kashmiri people at the international level, key government ally Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
surprised the National Assembly on Thursday when he said that the government was meting out similar treatment to its own people, living in the tribal areas.

On the second day of discussion on the findings and recommendations of the Committee on Fata Reforms, the chief of his own faction of the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
(JUI-F) said: "I don’t see any difference between the people of India-Indian Kashmiree and our tribal areas as far as the curbing of their rights is concerned."

For some reason, he said, the suffering of the people of Fata was not being highlighted as compared to the media coverage of the Kashmire issue.

He did not stop there. Criticising the ongoing military operation in Fata, he said it seemed as if the action actually targeted peaceful rustics rather than the Taliban, since the latter continued to rule the roost with a monthly income of Rs1.5 billion, which they extorted from government agencies and other coercive measures.

Mr Rehman claimed that every second shopkeeper in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
was receiving threatening messages from bully boys, warning of dire consequences if they failed to pay ’protection money’.

In the holy man’s words, the kind of disgrace and humiliation that had been meted out to the people of Fata as a result of the ongoing military operation was unrivalled in recent history.

"First, they were dislocated in the name of the country’s greater national security; now their identities are being questioned and they are being forced to cross the Durand Line," said the JUI-F leader who has the distinction of being part of the last three successive governments, under Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
, Asif Ali Zardari and now Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Adopting an acerbic tone against the government of which he has been an integral part from day one, Fazlur Rehman drew parallels between the Line of Control (LoC) and the Durand Line, saying: "The two lines are undefined international borders; just as we have claims across the LoC, those living on the other side of the Durand Line have their own views. This is why the Fata region needs careful handling."

Reports from the Pak front line
Speaking from the front a Pakistan military official said Pakistan responded well to the Indian aggression and rejected the surgical strikes claim.

“Attack was on my company. By the grace of God we have responded aggressively. And push them back in their territory. Killing 6 of them confirm reports. And we lost a one brave son of soil,” he said.

Another official, defending the motherland along the LoC, said Indian claim of surgical strikes – were unfounded. “Dare not. It was not even a good ceasefire violation by LoC standards. We are waiting for them for so many days,” he added.

The officials said the Indians tried at four places. “In my area, they were spotted while still 1500 metres inside their area. We blasted them well and proper and they ran back. In other sectors also, they were spotted much earlier. Thereafter, they settled for just an exchange of fire from a distance only. At one place, they were halted right at the LoC from where they ran back like jackals. Our casualties were due to mortar fire,” one official said.

Separately, a military official said: “I am at chhamb. They did nothing. Initially, they tried to cross LoC but we detected them well inside their territory and held them right in their tracks. They ran back leaving many dread bodies on the LoC. On our side, there are only two Shaheeds (martyrs) due to mortar fire. No Indian could dare to set foot on our homeland.”

Another military official said: “We have their eight dead bodies lying on the LoC opposite Tatta pani. They can even lift them from there. Making totally false claims. Very soon, they will be shamed as we will bring undeniable proofs.”

-Land of the Free
This Week in Guns, October 1st, 2016

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

I have probably discussed this before in other contexts, but in the context of answering a question from a longtime Rantburger, I have the following to say:

Growing up in Oklahoma in the 1960s I saw on several vehicles a bumper sticker with the words: "The Price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance". Growing up in a household that was very liberal, those sentiments either were dismissed or ignored as rightwing insanity, and were not to be heeded let alone discussed. As a personal matter, I never really considered those words and their relationship to firearms until much later in life, when I became a firearm owner.

Why do you keep posting these things? We know the self appointed "intellectual elites" are not just crazy as a bat but dumb as shit as well (except when it comes to feathering their own nests).

Not picking on you, g(r)om, but as an Israeli living in Israel you understand what it means to be continually aware of threats to your safety and well being from groups who will never accept that your your life and liberty should be left alone; that those threats should be addressed as soon as possible and with as much speech as possible to prevent them becoming government policy. It does no one any good to remain silent in the face of those threats.

Maybe it would be easier to understand that I function as Rantburg's resident kvetch when it comes to firearms.

When it comes to politics, immigration and guns, you don't get a pass for being pro-2nd Amendment when you favor electing Hillary Clinton, as writer David Cordrea writes:

There are plenty willing to sell us out over cheap labor for their patrons. They were the ones who tried and failed to torpedo Hillary’s opponent, with some still effectively (or overtly) working to elect her.

It just seems there is little left to do in the face of existential threats to liberty other than remain eternally vigilant.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Prices for pistol ammunition were mostly steady. Prices for rifle ammunition were mixed.

Prices for used pistols were mixed. Prices for used rifles were mostly higher.

#1  Ah yes, the 60's. A group of us 14 year olds were camping out on the weekends fully armed and hunting before we were old enough to drive a car. Our parents didn't worry about it either. They trained us on firearm safety by the time we were 10.

I guess Fred thought Rantburg would catch more attention the Kvetchburg--he was probably right. Grom's comment gave me a silent chuckle this a.m.

I do understand that stupid can be incredibly difficult to look at. Which is why it must be looked at. We do it often at the fire department, looking at the oh shit videos and trying to call out, in real time, the stupid. Stuff like, going onto a roof which is iced over, or through a garage door without bracing the garage door, or setting up a post underneath electrical works.

As for Clinton, she straight up told you the 2nd will go if she clutches power. She didn't say it in those words, because apparently something so popular has to be talked around and concealed, but she did. Common Sense Laws Concerning ring like Democratic Peoples' Republic Of.

SANAA: Armed militants have gunned down a senior security official in the southern city of Aden, security officials say.

Col. Ali Awwad, head of intelligence in the Buraqa district, was shot dead while he was leaving his house on Friday. Gunmen fled the scene on a motorbike.

The killing came less than 24 hours after militants killed another top security official at the Aden airport. The Daesh affiliate in Yemen claimed responsibility on Twitter. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.

India-Pakistan
Mounting tensions
[DAWN] NEARLY one and a half billion people in two countries -- India and Pakistain -- appear to be held hostage to conspiracy, rumour and reckless warmongering. That needs to stop, and it needs to stop immediately. On Thursday, 11 days after the Uri attack and seemingly an eternity in Pak-India sabre-rattling and diplomatic tensions, another layer of confusion and chaos was added to one of the world’s most complicated bilateral relationships. With the facts of the Uri attack yet to be established or shared with the world, a new, potentially larger, set of questions has now overshadowed an already fraught situation. What happened along the Line of Control between midnight and early morning on Thursday is a story that Indian authorities appear to be very clear about and the Indian media has reported with relish. But virtually nothing has been independently confirmed about the events along the LoC, an area that is effectively cordoned off from the media in both countries and where the local population is unlikely to know the facts or be willing to speak candidly.

What is clear is that something did happen at several points along the LoC in the early hours of Thursday morning. At the very least, Pak and Indian forces exchanged fire in which two Pak soldiers died. That is a sad, if long-standing, reality of the region: whenever tensions between the two countries are high, parts of the LoC see live ammunition fired, the lives of local populations disrupted and several casualties among security personnel and civilians. Indeed, two summers ago, with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi newly installed in office, the LoC saw a series of skirmishes that progressively escalated until reaching crisis point around mid-October. That set of events was supposedly meant to herald the start of a new, so-called get-tough policy by India. Eventually, better sense prevailed and by September 2015 the DG Rangers and DG Border Security Force met and agreed to renew the LoC ceasefire. The Pathankot attack earlier this year, which involved infiltration across the Working Boundary, did not materially change the situation along the LoC, but unrest in India-held Kashmire and the Uri attack appear to have done so.

At this point, it is imperative to establish the facts quickly. The wild cheering that greeted the government’s accounts of events in India may become a dangerous precedent and create a new set of expectations in a region where war in an overtly nuclear environment would be catastrophic for both countries. Facts, however, would help nudge the situation towards de-escalation, given signalling from the Pak state and Indian government. Pak policymakers, both civilian and military, have reacted sensibly, and appear to be resisting Indian attempts to bait Pakistain. But the media echo chamber -- jingoistic, fiercely nationalistic and often removed from reality -- can have unpredictable effects, especially when it comes to whipping up warlike sentiment among the populations of the two countries. Quickly establishing two sets of facts, of events along the LoC on Thursday and the Uri attack, would switch a media narrative from punch and counter-punch and allow the two states to work on how to ratchet down tensions along the LoC. The Modi government, despite its hawkish instincts and muscle-flexing, has indicated an awareness of the dangers of unrestrained rhetoric. Facts will help clear the miasma and introduce the necessary rationality into a debate that is increasingly unhinged.

Iraq
Fragmentation of Iraq: Hawija residents debate post-ISIS future
[RUDAW.NET] Arab tribes of Hawija have begun discussing and planning for post-liberation governance of their city after the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) is defeated militarily. Some are asking to establish an independent administration for the town and others want to stay with Kirkuk.

The people of Hawija want a strong and independent administration post-ISIS, a man from the town said. But a tribal leader told Rudaw that the tribes of Hawija are against separating the town from Kirkuk.

"Each one has his own and different opinion. I think Hawija should not disconnect from Kirkuk. This is my special opinion, but each has their own. We as noblemen reject disconnecting Hawija from Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
" Khalaf Rwan, a member of the Hawija council, told Rudaw.

Kurds in the area believe that the decision should be made by the people, and any action should be done according to the constitution.

"The new federal Iraq accepts decentralization and all suggestions according to the constitution and law," Rebwar Talabani, head of Kirkuk’s provincial council, told Rudaw. "This issue needs a referendum."

Hawija, a Sunni stronghold Sunnis in Kirkuk Province, has been at the center of insurgency since 2004. Kurds are, therefore, concerned about its future as they want to make sure it does not pose a security threat on Kirkuk after it is liberated from ISIS.

Kurdish forces will participate in the military offensive to retake the town from the terrorist group.

"Kurds have already decided that they are participating in any offensive to drive ISIS out of Hawija. They must be evicted from the land of Kurdistan and we have insisted on this decision," Kamal Kirkuki, commander of the Peshmerga forces in western Kirkuk, told Rudaw TV last week.

Kirkuki noted that Hawija is part of Kirkuk Province "and it will remain under control of the province’s authorities, just like any other town or district of Kirkuk."

Located at a crossroads, Hawija connects the three provinces of Kirkuk, Nineveh and Salahaddin. It is 55 kilometers south of Kirkuk, and is composed of a district and four sub-districts. The majority of its 450,000 population are Arabs, predominantly from the tribes of Obeid, Dlaim, Shammar and Jabour.

In ethnically diverse Nineveh Province, there are multiple calls to break up the region into distinct provinces giving each ethnic or religious group self-governance, or ensuring guarantees are given to minority groups in the post-ISIS era.

ISIS sez 7K fighters waiting in Mosul
A little closer together. Now, smile. Wait for the flash.
[ARANews] ERBIL – The US-led coalition said that ISIS has some 3,000 to 4,500 fighters in Mosul, and that there are no signs that the radical is leaving its main bastion in northern Iraq.

“We think anywhere from 3,000 to 4,500 [ISIS] fighters are in Mosul, somewhere in that ball park. It’s a mixture of Iraqi and foreign fighters,” US-led coalition’s spokesman Air Force Col. John Dorrian said.

However, Saudi fighter of ISIS, Abu Azzam al-Muhajir, told ARA News they have at least 7,000 fighters in Mosul, the ISIS main bastion in northwestern Iraq.

“Over 7,000 fighters are ready to defend Mosul,” he said.

“Also, there are still 500,000 civilians living in Mosul, and they will not accept to return to the central government’s authority and be rule by the Shia,” al-Muhajir told ARA News.

The US-led coalition said it will continue to attack ISIS in Mosul. “They show no signs of really trying to leave Mosul at this point. Really, what they’ve done is they’ve continued to dig in, build elaborate defenses and so we’re really ready for a tough fight there,” Colonel Dorrian said.

“The Iraqi security forces have been well trained to do urban style warfare. That’s one of the things that we’ve done for refit. We are expecting [ISIS to have] a mixture of Iraqis and foreign fighters. They do continue to flow in and some of them are fixed in place there,” he added.

Another ISIS source told ARA News that group has cordoned all the roads to Nineveh and has completed almost 80 per cent of their project to build trenches around Mosul, which are filled with crude oil. Moreover, they have put concrete cement near the entrances of the city’s neighbourhoods.

The US-led coalition official said that at least 8 to 12 brigades of the Iraqi army will march on Mosul. “We also expect the Iraqi police to be involved, because they’re going to be a part of the effort to maintain security once areas have been liberated, to hold those areas so Daesh [ISIS] can’t re-infiltrate,” Dorrian said.

“We think it’s going to be a very large battle. We do expect the [Kurdish] Peshmerga to be involved, although the details of their involvement are still being worked out. And we also expect there to be tribal forces involved,” he concluded.

No Peshmerga or Shiite militias will enter Mosul city, US official says
[RUDAW.NET] During the upcoming operation to liberate djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) faceless myrmidons neither the Kurdish Peshmerga nor the Shiite militia of Hashd al-Shaabi will enter the city throughout the course of the operation, the US Deputy Secretary of State has said.

"The core of the force that liberates Mosul will be the Iraqi security forces backed by the coalition with the support of the Peshmerga," Antony Blinken told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday.

After the city is captured, Blinken added, the US hopes to have developed a 15,000-man Sunni Arab force to secure and stabilize the city after the faceless myrmidons are forced out.

"The tribal elements that are being trained, equipped, brought on board with the goal of getting 15,000 of them will predominantly be the holding force once the city is liberated," he explained.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache...
US Air Force Colonel John Dorrian told news hounds that while the Peshmerga will participate in the operation to retake Mosul "the details of their involvement are still being worked out."

In early August the Peshmerga advanced closer to Mosul, seizing several villages from ISIS control. According to Peshmerga commander Sheikh Jaffar Mustafa Peshmerga forces are, in some areas, as close as 10 kilometers to the city of Mosul.

Iraqi forces are expected to assault Mosul from Qayyara airbase, which is 60 kilometers south of the city and was recaptured from ISIS back in July. Currently hundreds of US military advisors are helping the Iraqis establish Qayyara as a logistical hub ahead of their assault on Mosul, where they will play a supporting role in the operation.

Simla pact hit Kashmir struggle: Shahbaz
[DAWN] Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
has termed Simla agreement reached between India and Pakistain in 1972 a big mistake, saying it partially hurt the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.

The statement invited criticism from the PPP whose then chairman and prime minister of the country, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
...9th PM of Pakistain from 1973 to 1977, and 4th President of Pakistain from 1971 to 1973. He was the founder of the Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP). His eldest daughter, Benazir Bhutto, would also serve as hereditary PM. In a coup led by General Zia-ul-Haq, Bhutto was removed from office and was executed in 1979 for authorizing the murder of a political opponent...
, and his Indian counterpart Indra Gandhi had signed the pact.

The agreement had resulted in release of some 90,000 Pak soldiers imprisoned by India following the 1971 war fought between the two South Asian neigbours.

"The Simla agreement was a big mistake [on the part of Islamabad] as it dampened the spirit of the Kashmiris fighting for their freedom and hurt their movement though it never stopped in Kashmire," Shahbaz Sharif told a conference on the India-held valley here on Thursday.

He said young Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani further strengthened the movement through his martyrdom and now Kashmiris were raising pro-Pakistain slogans everywhere in the valley.

"Someone should teach the CM Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

what foreign policy is. He can’t possibly think mimicking SZAB [Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto] makes him a statesman," tweeted PPP chairperson Bilawal Baby Bhutto Zardari
...Pak dynastic politician, son of Benazir Bhutto and grandon of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. As far as is known, Bilawal has no particular talents other than being pretty and being able to memorize political slogans, but he had the good luck to be born into the right family and he hasn't been assassinated yet...
He was responding to a tweet by a party leader, Murtaza Solangi, who took pains to explain the Simla pact.

"There is nothing wrong with Simla agreement. One should (first) read the agreement before cirticising it," said Mr Solangi, and lamented the criticism of the pact by Mr Sharif.

"It is sad and unfortunate that on a day like this Shahbaz Sharif chooses to criticise Simal pact and by extension ZAB."Using the platform of the Kashmire conference, Shehbaz criticised the agitation politics of the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) and chided Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
for "dividing" the nation at a time when blood was being shed in India-held Kashmire.

"The world is listening to India and not us on the Kashmire dispute because New Delhi has progressed financially," he told the conference at the PML-N Secretariat in Model Town. "Therefore, it’s need of the hour to strengthen the country and forge unity among ranks and file of the nation. But on the one hand innocent blood is being spilled in Kashmire and on the other nation is being divided."

Azad Jammu and Kashmire Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider and Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Mujahid Kamran also spoke.

Mr Sharif said that instead of heading towards borders, talks of a sit-in were making the rounds to divide the nation. He called it a "2014-like conspiracy", an indirect reference to PTI and Pakistain Awami Tehrik sit-downs in Islamabad. He offered Mr Khan to hold a joint rally on the India borders against atrocities in Kashmire.

Calais volunteers accused of having sex with camp
[DailyMail] Calais aid workers volunteering in the Jungle have been accused of having sex with migrants, some of whom are believed to be underage, according to a whistle blower. The revelations have caused a furious row on Facebook, with some volunteers claiming the allegations should have remained secret and criticised the whistle blower for expressing his concerns.

According to the whistle blower, some volunteers avail of the service of the Jungle camp prostitutes, while others have multiple partners in one day.

One whistleblower revealed the extent of sexual abuse of vulnerable refugees at the Jungle camp at the hands of unscrupulous aid workers, some of whom use the women as prostitutes. Other aid workers have complained that unscrupulous volunteers are treating the camp like a 'free for all festival' and 'find it difficult to keep it in their pants'.

The original allegations were aired on a Facebook thread concerning the People to People Solidarity group, which has since been deleted.

It was claimed that female volunteers were more likely to have sex with male migrants than any other combination. One volunteer was described as having 'a bad reputation' for sleeping with male refugees and was asked to leave the camp.

One male volunteer had to be 'persuaded by other male volunteers' against returning due to his 'inappropriate behaviour with female refugees'.

Some volunteers have claimed critics are more interested in maintaining their reputation than preventing further incidents of sexual abuse in a similar manner to the Catholic Church. Another criticised volunteers who did not want to address the exploitation issue publicly.

According to the original post, the whistle blower claimed: 'I have heard of boys, believed to be under the age of consent, having sex with volunteers. I have heard stories of men using the prostitutes in the Jungle too. I have heard of volunteers having sex with multiple partners in one day, only to carry on in the same vein the following day.

'And I also know, that I'm only hearing a small part of a wider scale of abuse.'

Several volunteers severely criticised the whistleblower for discussing the abuse allegations in an open forum.

However, one volunteer defended him claiming: 'It always really worries me that we're more concerned with the press/our reputation than we are with the sexual abuse itself.'

According to the Independent, some volunteers believe sexual relationships between aid workers and refugees is 'natural' while others believe it breaks the 'usual codes of conduct'.

The UNHCR said it has a 'zero tolerance' policy concerning the sexual exploitation of refugees in such camps.

However, some of the volunteer groups in the camp do not have clearly defined 'codes of conduct', while others complain about so-called 'independent volunteers' who are not attached to any particular group.

Clare Mosely, founder of Care4Calais told the Independent: 'At the end of the day it isn't recognised as an official refugee camp, it's an illegal settlement. So we’ve got no way of forcing anyone to leave. That is the difficulty.'

Care4Calais has a 'zero tolerance' policy concerning sexual relations between volunteers and camp inhabitants.

Another volunteer wrote: 'In my view, most defo beyond inappropriate - breaches all sorts of codes, highlights massive deficit of integrity, blurs reciprocal boundaries beyond measure.

'Pretty much no different to sex tourism. This is the sort of stuff that makes others with better resolve, cringe - need to have a rocksolid mindset that separates the camp environment from that of a freeforall "festival" - if you're incapable of "keeping it in your pants" then consider whether you ought to be there.'

Another contributor added: 'So the concerns around exploitation of vulnerable people should be 'kept private' should they? 'kept within the group' .

'Whatever your feelings on sex between volunteers and refugees it is clear that it is a very important subject to discuss OPENLY.

'The press is a perfectly valid place to analyse and protect vulnerable people. It is exactly this notion of protecting people that ensured children were abused for years within childrens homes and the Catholic Church.'

And to you Libertarians, which there might be legitimate ones or leanings here at Rantburg, I mean no disrespect to you, but the everyday Libertarians I have come across is summed in Johnson, and it is embarrassing.

As I quipped to a legit Johnson supporter, "Not knowing what Aleppo is in today's conflicts is like not knowing what Berlin is during WWII."

Iraq
Iraqi, Arab Tribes Rebuff Iran’s Involvement in Mosul’s Anticipated Liberation
[Asharq al-Aswat] Arab tribes domiciled in Iraq’s Nineveh have stressed a collective and undisputable refusal for any intervention by Iran or Shi’ite-based Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in the fight for djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
’s retake from the ISIS ultra-hardline group.

As the battle to take back ISIS’ de facto capital in Iraq nears, communities across Iraq, namely Nineveh, fear that Tehran’s continued incitation of sectarianism might fail any initiative to recapture the ISIS stronghold.

Speaking on behalf of tribes in Nineveh, Sheikh Muzahim Ahmen Alhuwait explains the local rejection of Iran-backed PMF bully boyz partaking in the Mosul liberation offensive.

Alhuwait says that Iran’s influence has been conjuring sectarian-spurred street support in Mosul backing former Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki
... Prime Minister of Iraq and the secretary-general of the Islamic Dawa Party. Maliki imposed order on Basra wen the Shiites were going nuts, but has proven incapable of dealing with al-Qaeda's Sunni insurgency. Reelected to his third term in 2014...
All Arab tries in Mosul and Nineveh will not tolerate any presence for either Iranian or Maliki dominance in the region, added Alhuwait.

On the other hand, Shiekh Mohammad Albujari, head of Albujari tribe, says that all Arab tribes in the region are fully prepared to liberate Iraq’s Mosul.

He explained that the people of Mosul will also be playing a great part in freeing themselves from ISIS hold, given that the locals had showcased maximum resilience and noncompliance with ISIS’ ideology or ruling.

"Mosul will free itself at the hands of its own people, yet it still awaits a much needed assurance of not being stabbed from the back like what had happened in June 10, 2014," said Abujari.

Afghanistan
President Ghani and Hekmatyar Sign Peace Deal
[Asharq al-Aswat] The President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
signed a peace deal with one of the country’s most notorious warlords Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
yesterday. This is considered the final step before the implementation of an immediate cease-fire.

Ghani, surrounded by hundreds of Afghan officials and former warlords, signed an agreement paving the way for the Hezb-e-Islami, a faction led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, to take an active role in political life.

Despite his reverberating speeches about unity, Hekmatyar did not attend the signing but rather signed the agreement on Thursday via a video link into Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
’s presidential palace. The ceremony was broadcast live on television and was attended by high ranking representatives of the government and members of the Hezb-e-Islami group that Hekmatyar belongs to. The rebel group, which is the largest in the country, opposes international military intervention in Afghanistan and has fought international forces and the Afghan government since the US-led invasion in 2001.

One of the Hezb-e-Islami’s conditions for signing the peace agreement was that all foreign forces leave the country. The agreement stipulates that foreign forces must leave the country according to a "reasonable schedule". According to the agreement, which the German Press Agency (DPA) obtained a copy of, the Hezb-e-Islami’s agreement with the Afghan government provides immunity from prosecution for all members of the group, and the Afghan government must release imprisoned members of the Hezb-e-Islami within two months.

#1  The history of the Afghan resistance can be dated from the nineteen sixties and the intersection of three Muslim Brothers: Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf (1946-) and Burhanuddin Rabbani (1940-) both studied at Al Azhar University, Egypt, in the nineteen sixties, and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar (1947-), a Muslim Brother who graduated in engineering from the University of Kabul. All three were acquainted with and were greatly influenced by the writings of Egyptian Muslim Brother and salafist intellectual, Sayyid Qutb. The three would become the leaders of the mujahideen forces to emerge following the Soviet Invasion.

Well before the Soviet invasion of December 1979 the Jamiat e-Islami movement had been founded by Rabbani. Called Afghanistan's oldest mujahideen movement, it was from its inception associated with the international Muslim Brotherhood. While Rabbani was the brains behind the movement, the field leadership was assumed by the ruthless Pushtun commander and Muslim Brother Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.

It was at the University that Rabbani, the Al Azhar-trained Tajik and member of the salafist Naqshabandi (Sufi) sect emerged as a student leader in the nineteen sixties. Rabbani, born in Afghanistan's remote Badakhshan province had been influenced by both the Pakistani Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi and Hassan al-Banna the Muslim Brotherhood founder. In addition, Rabbani would translate Qutb into Dari, Afghanistan's official language, and tranfuse that salafist influence to his own followers. Rabbani would later serve as President of Afghanistan from 1992-1996. Rabbani was a Tajik, a minority in a nation that counted some seven million Pushtun and five million Tajik at the time of the Soviet invasion. It was Rabbani's task (and misfortune) to try and meld the interests of two ethnic groups who had often been antagonistic. Following the end of the war with the Soviets Hekmatyar sought to seize control of Afghanistan in what was called the war of the warlords. A war eventually won by the Pakistan-backed taliban. Hekmatyar licked his wounds, kept his band of cutthroats together and maintains to this day the control of Afghanistan opium trade. In sum, he is, as he always has been, a miserable sonofabitch.

#4  A useful summation, Shick de Medici6262. Thank you.

What's the over / under on the peace deal being violated by the Hekster, one week?

Oughtn't fighting season be winding down soon, as winter approaches? I believe the post-Taliban tradition is to take the demobilization payments all winter, then rejoin the bad guys preparatory to fighting season in the spring. So that's where I'd place my bet.

#5  The peace deal depends on how much boodle and influence Hek can get with and from Kabul.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
WA: Lawmakers pledge to get tough on voter fraud
[KREM] Lawmakers in Washington are pledging to get tough on voter fraud.

The state is moving forward on a plan that would require proof of citizenship anytime.

The latest change comes after an embarrassing week for voting administrators in Washington.

According to reports, the suspect in last week’s deadly mall shooting, Arcan Cetin, may have faked his voter registration. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
Cetin still participated in several different elections.

It is for that reason that state voting workers are getting tougher on rules.

At the news conference on Friday, Washington’s Secretary of State, Kim Wyman insisted change is the only way to prevent voter fraud.

To reduce cases of voter fraud, Secretary Wyman is proposing a safeguard that is common in other states.

Under the proposal, people would have to present proof of citizenship whenever they get a drivers license.

Voting workers would also have access to that information, and could determine if a person is eligible to register to vote.

"These are ideas that have been discussed in Olympia for a decade, the time for action is now," said Wyman.

The Federal Department of Homeland Security has required these changes since 2005, but Washington never followed those orders.

In fact, Washington is one of only three states that do not check for proof of citizenship.

Auditors across the states said they have been flooded with angry calls in the last few days.

"They're upset about this. They think that every person has the authority to vote and we cannot prove it," said Yakima County auditor, Charles Ross.
Oddly enough, on the morning of September 30th, local television station KING5 ran this update about their previously living killer:
UPDATE: KING 5 learned Thursday that Arcan Cetin, the 20-year-old who killed five people at Cascade Mall on Sept. 23, is in fact a U.S. citizen.

For days after the shooting, Cetin was described by local and federal law enforcement as being a permanent U.S. resident. He immigrated to the U.S. from Turkey when he was a child, after his mother married an American citizen.

On Thursday, a federal official told KING that further investigation revealed that Cetin is a naturalized U.S. citizen. That means he was legally registered to vote.
But the single source, anonymous official did not say when Mr. Cetin obtained his citizenship, the fact of which his parents, acquaintances, and he himself on social media did not mention, so possibly he did vote before the paperwork was completed.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Think Russia isn’t directing rebels in Ukraine? Then read this about leaked emails
[MCCLATCHYDC] The emails from Russia were pretty straightforward: The government in Kiev was to be referred to as fascist and compared to puppet dictatorships whenever possible. News reports were to mention as often as possible that the puppet master was the United States.

For good measure, the Russian advisers even insisted that media handlers in the so-called "People’s Republic of Donetsk" provide a daily count of how many stories featured the phrase "It’s worse in Ukraine."

The leaked emails, which were acquired and are being reported on by the German magazine Die Zeit and Germany’s public television broadcaster, ZDF, provide hard evidence of how closely involved Russia is in the separatist movement at the heart of Ukraine’s so-called civil war, which has taken almost 10,000 lives since 2014. That runs counter to the narrative promoted by Russian President Vladmir Putin and other Russian officials.
