India-Pakistan
The evils of capitalism
This year marks the 25th anniversary of liberal reforms in India that led to the dismantling of many socialist economic policies and the end of the draconian License Raj. Liberalization has changed life for many in India over the past couple of decades, although much more remains to be done. Just the middle class alone has exploded from 30 million people in 1991 to 300 million in 2014.

So this is a good occasion to tell the story of perhaps the most unexpected beneficiaries of these reforms: the rising Dalit millionaires. In recent years, many thousands of so-called "untouchables," or Dalits, members of the lowest group in the Indian caste order, have risen out of poverty to become wealthy business owners, some even millionaires.

By taking advantage of the greater economic opportunity brought about by market reforms, these Dalit entrepreneurs provide us with an important example of the power of markets, not just to bring about economic emancipation, but to fight deeply entrenched social discrimination.

US court throws out $655 m. terrorism judgment against PA
A US Appeals Court on Wednesday threw out a historic $655.5 million judgment against the Palestinian Authority after it had been found liable to a group of American families who accused them of supporting terrorist attacks in Israel. Israeli law center Shurat Hadin has confirmed that they will appeal the decision.

PLO Executive Committee Member Hanan Ashrawi stated that "the fact that the appeals court threw it out means that there is justice, finally."

She added that Shurat Hadin is "an abhorrent organization, really vicious and full of hate."

The Second US Circuit Court of Appeals in New York said a lower court judge was mistaken in concluding he had jurisdiction over the PA and ordered that the lawsuit be dismissed.
Well, OK. Just don't be surprised when IDF employs its "jurisdiction over the PA".

Vicars are told not to wear dog collars in public - Fear of ISIS attack
[MAIL] Vicars have been told not to wear dog collars in public over fears that Islamic State will target a British church in its next attack.

One man of the cloth said he has been advised not to wear his dog collar out and about amid fears he could be singled out in a terror attack.

It has also been suggested UK church congregations should have a 'bouncer' on the door so that worshippers at small parish churches are more protected.

National Churchwatch has warned smaller churches are at more risk than larger ones and issued new guidance following the murder of a French priest last month. The advice includes instructions to buy CCTV and carry personal attack alarms.

The vicar, who did not want to be named, told the Daily Mirror: "I've been told not to wear my dog collar in public to identify myself."

Clinton emailed classified information after leaving State Dept.
[NY Post] Hillary Clinton continued sending classified information even after leaving the State Department, The Post has exclusively learned.

On May 28, 2013, months after stepping down as secretary of state, Clinton sent an email to a group of diplomats and top aides about the "123 Deal" with the United Arab Emirates.

But the email, which was obtained by the Republican National Committee through a Freedom of Information Act request, was heavily redacted upon its release by the State Department because it contains classified information.

The markings on the email state it will be declassified on May 28, 2033, and that information in the note is being redacted because it contains "information regarding foreign governors" and because it contains "Foreign relations or foreign activities of the United States, including confidential sources."

The email from Clinton was sent from the email account -- hrod17@clintonemail.com -- associated with her private email server.

The email’s recipients were Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, diplomat Jeffrey Feltman, policy aide Jake Sullivan, diplomat Kurt Campbell, State Department chief of staff Cheryl Mills, and Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

The "123 Deal" was a 2009 agreement between the United Arab Emirates and the US on materials and technological sharing for nuclear energy production.

"Hillary Clinton's mishandling of classified information was so pervasive, it continued after she left government," Republican National Committee research director Raj Shah told The Post. "She clearly can't be trusted with our nation's security."

Clinton is believed to have sent 2,101 emails that contained at least some classified information.

The Trump campaign said the latest revelation about Clinton's email habits is more proof she can’t be trusted with national security.

"Hillary Clinton's secret server jeopardized our national security and sensitive diplomatic efforts on more than 2,000 occasions, and shockingly, it now appears her reckless conduct continued even after leaving the State Department. Hillary Clinton’s terrible judgment shows she cannot be trusted with our national security," said Jason Miller, Trump's senior communications advisor, in a statement.

#1  Wait. After she became a private citizen she mailed classified? Please tell me how this doesn't get prosecuted. #3  The gov't (DoJ and FBI) likely know much, much more about the mechanics of HRC classified emails than they are making public.

Someone had to pull these document from SIPR or JWICS, delete the classification markings, and forward them on to HRC over an UNCLAS box. Finding that someone, should be a relatively easy process. For a place to start, simply check the to and from line.

Oftentimes, much can be learned from what is NOT being said. In this case, literally no one is broaching the subject of how HRC communicated with Obama. If Obama had knowledge of her server and communicated with her over it, he was an accessory to a criminal act. This may be the reason no one is taking action.

Presidential legacy appears to have some importance to him. A criminal legacy, possibly not so much. The future re-naming of streets, cities, and towns hangs in the ballance.

George Washington University hires former Al Qaeda terrorist as homeland security expert
[HOT AIR] Jesse Morton has been hired as an Islamic terrorism expert to work in George Washington University’s Program on Extremism. Mr. Morton used to go by the name Younus Abdullah Muhammad when he served as a recruiter for the al-Qaeda terrorist network.

That’s right, George Washington University has hired a "former" Islamic terrorist as an expert on homeland security: (CNN)

During his days as an extremist, Morton earned a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University. (Program Director Seamus) Hughes said before making the hiring decision, he discussed Morton with the FBI, leaders in the security community and the lawyers that prosecuted Morton.

He said he’s sure Morton is completely reformed from the days he served time in federal prison after inciting people to join a terrorist organization.

"I trust him," he said. "We did our due diligence."

Morton (or Muhammad) rose to prominence when he threatened the creators of South Park for depicting Mohamed in a bear costume.

Woman from Navy's 1st same-sex ‘homecoming kiss' engaged to man, has son
[Wash Times] One of the women who made national headlines for being in the Navy’s first same-sex "homecoming kiss" photo after the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is now engaged -- to a man -- and has a three-year-old son.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta of Placerville, Calif., won a raffle in December 2011 to be the first sailor to give her girlfriend a kiss in Virginia Beach.

The moment made Ms. Gaeta and Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell famous.

But a follow-up by the Virginia Pilot over the weekend adds an unexpected twist to the story: Ms. Snell is now engaged to a man named Greg and the two have a son.

"I almost felt we were going to let people down," Ms. Snell, a former fire controlman who exited the military last year, told the newspaper of the 2012 breakup. "I think it was such a big moment in, you know, history for the Navy and for the LGBT community so, I’m OK with it."

Ms. Gaeta also left the Navy in 2015 and said she is now working to become a labor and delivery nurse.

Kelso, WA: Omer Ismail Ali attempts to rob convenience store, buys farm
[Breitbart] A homeless Sudanese refugee imported into Kelso, Washington, in 2013 was shot and killed by a police officer after he allegedly tried to rob a gas station and savagely attacked an attendant, customer, and responding officer with a walking stick.
Perhaps it's because it's Breitbart, but notice there's no outcry to ban walking sticks...
Omer Ismail Ali allegedly attempted to shoplift from a Flying K gas station and convenience store on August 19, but the attending clerk told him to leave the store. Ali reportedly made a threat, and a police officer arrived shortly later to look at the surveillance footage.

Reportedly, Ali returned with a walking stick and began to beat the female clark with a long walking stick, before officer John Johnston pointed a weapon at him. Ali then turned away from his victim and advanced on Johnston, beating him with the stick, as well and pinning him in a corner. Surveillance footage then appears to show Johnston, lying on the floor, fire his weapon as Ali continued to beat him. Ali collapsed.

August Rings Out as Chicago's Most Violent Month in Two Decades
[Breitbart] The rate of violence in Chicago has reached epic proportions and as August comes to a close it is clear this steamy hot month will rank as the city’s most violent in at least two decades.

After another violent weekend where 57 were wounded and 10 killed, Monday brought yet another homicide, bringing the number of dead to 78 for the month of August. And there are still two more days to go before the month comes to a merciful end.

The number of those killed is only a fraction of those wounded, though, with more than 400 people shot during the month of August alone.

The stats for August look poised to beat out the previous record holder of October of 1979 when 79 citizens were shot and killed in the Windy City, the Chicago Tribune reports.

As the Tribune notes, "Chicago has recorded 487 homicides and more than 2,800 people shot so far this year, compared to 491 homicides and 2,988 people shot all of last year."

While the worst case scenario as far as mounting murder rates are concerned, Chicago is far from the only big U.S. city seeing a hike in violent crime. Cities like Washington D.C., Milwaukee, Boston, Baltimore. and New York have also experienced higher crime statistics for 2016 over that of last year.

The police are under-manned. Morale is poor even though pay and pensions are at all-time highs. There is no political leadership from City Hall, and most of the south-side and west-side aldermen are in cahoots with the gang leaders. Indeed, the aldermen use the gangs in their GOTV campaigns.

So this isn't going to end anytime soon.

Obama Cuts Short the Sentences of 111 Federal Inmates
[AP] President Barack Obama cut short on Tuesday the sentences of 111 federal inmates in another round of commutations for those convicted of nonviolent drug offenses.

Obama has long called for phasing out strict sentences for drug convictions, arguing they lead to excessive punishment and incarceration rates unseen in other developed countries.

White House Counsel Neil Eggleston said the commutations underscored the president's commitment to using his clemency authority to give deserving individuals a second chance. He said that Obama has granted a total of 673 commutations, more than the previous 10 presidents combined. More than a third of the recipients were serving life sentences.

"We must remember that these are individuals -- sons, daughters, parents, and in many cases, grandparents -- who have taken steps toward rehabilitation and who have earned their second chance," Eggleston said. "They are individuals who received unduly harsh sentences under outdated laws for committing largely nonviolent drug crimes."

To Colin Kaepernick, from a LE officer
[bZep] From the Massachusetts Coalition of Police, on Facebook:

PLEASE do your best to SHARE this post, since it needs to be read.

By Chris Amos, a retired Norfolk Police Officer who wrote the following: An Open Letter to Colin Kaepernick

Dear Colin, Guess you have been pretty busy these last few days. For the record I don’t think any more or less of you for not standing for the National Anthem. Honestly, I never thought that much about you, or any professional athlete for that matter, to begin with. I’ve read your statement a few times and want you to know I am one of the reasons you are protesting. You see I am a retired police officer that had the misfortune of having to shoot and kill a 19-year-old African American male. And just like you said, I was the recipient of about $3,000 a month while on leave which was a good thing because I had to support a wife and three children under 7-years-old for about 2 months with that money. Things were pretty tight because I couldn’t work part time. Every police officer I’ve ever known has worked part-time to help make ends meet.

ISIS recaptures villages from Turkish-backed militants
[ALMASDARNEWS] Shortly after the death of one of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
’s most notorious commanders, IS murderous Moslems launched a massive counterattack in the southwestern countryside of Jarablus.

Spearheaded by a suicide kaboom carried out by Abu Ayman Al-Maghribi (Moroccan origin), ISIS Lions of Islam managed to recapture the villages of Kiliyeh, Arab Hasan Saghir, Al-Muhsinli, and Al-Bulduq from both Kurdish and Turkish forces.

Two Turkish tanks were reportedly destroyed in the festivities between the two jihadist groups while dozens are said to have perished as a result of the suicide attacks.

Syrian rebels launch new attack on Aleppo
[ARA News] ALEPPO – The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched Tuesday a new military operation to combat militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside of Syria’s northern Aleppo province, military sources reported.

The western-backed SDF fighters bombed ISIS positions near the town of Marea in Aleppo province and was able to expel the group from a number of villages.

“The SDF troops captured the villages of Um al-Haush, Um al-Qura, Harbal and Qarrah on Tuesday afternoon after forcing ISIS militants to withdraw under heavy artillery bombardment,” SDF official Zaidoun Hedo told ARA News in Aleppo.

At least 13 ISIS militants were killed and five ISIS vehicles were destroyed under the SDF bombardment.

The new anti-ISIS operation comes just two weeks after the Syrian Democratic Forces expelled the radical group from the city of Manbij–a former jihadi border pocket.

Tuesday’s ground operation by the SDF was coupled with airstrikes by the US-led coalition on ISIS headquarters in the vicinity of Marea town, according to the SDF leadership.

In the meantime, clashes continued between the Kurdish-led SDF forces and Turkey-backed rebel groups in the countryside of Jarablus after the Turkish army entered the city of Jarablus and vowed to hit the SDF if the it didn’t withdraw from the area on the Syrian-Turkish border.

Jamaat calls hartal for Wednesday
[Dhaka Tribune] Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has called a daylong hartal for Wednesday protesting the reinstatement of death sentence by the Supreme Court to condemned war criminal Mir Quasem Ali for his crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

#1  Mir Quasem Ali was a student politico at a Bangladesh University during the Bangla Desh war. He headed up "interrogation" at a residence he commandeered and as long as his side was winning he was responsible for the kidnapping and murder of young resistance fighters who were Hindu.... and he was a Moslem. People he
interrogated" died the chair. bad mistake.

His side lost the war in 13 days. He ran for Sudi Arabia and made the mistake of coming back when Mujibar Rahman was killed. The Police picked him up and he was condemned by the courts after a trial. Things like that happen after you lose a war . he should have stayed in Saudi.
What goes around, comes around.

Hezbollah Negotiated with Qaddafi, the Price of Sadr was $200 Million
[Asharq al-Aswat] A Syrian negotiator between the so-called Hezbollah party in Leb and Libya’s former leader Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
told Asharq Al-Awsat that the party was preparing a deal with Libya to receive $200 million, weapons and an apology in exchange of closing the file of Cleric Musa Sadr.

The Syrian figure said he had met with Qadaffy in 2004. During the meeting, the source said Qadaffy had asked him to speak with "Hezbollah" in a bid to solve the Sadr case. He said Qadaffy’s fears were mostly related to the security of his family members and their desire to travel to Leb to spend their vacations. One of Qadaffy’s sons, Hannibal, had even married Lebanese supermodel Aline Skaff in 2003.

The Syrian figure was able to convey Qadaffy’s proposition to "Hezbollah" due to his close relationship with the party’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and one of his closest aids, Hajj Hussein Khalil.

"I was tasked to engineer the deal, particularly the financial part, which did not constitute any burden to Qadaffy, whatever the sum was," the Syrian negotiator said.

Afghanistan
Talibunnies score own goal: 5 die
A Taliban commander was killed in an explosion in western Herat province of Afghanistan along with four other Taliban insurgents.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the slain Taliban commander was identified as Taj Mohammad and fell prey to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by fellow militants.

According to a statement by MoD, the incident took place in Shindand district which is among the relatively volatile districts in Herat.

The statement further added that three Taliban insurgents were also wounded in the incident.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.

Taliban insurgents and militants belonging to the other insurgent groups frequently use Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces but the ordinary civilians are often targeted in such attacks.

IEDs are considered as the main motive behind the growing casualties of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) besides contributing largely to civilian casualties.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in its latest report said the anti-government elements remain responsible for 60 percent of the civilian casualties with ground engagements continuing to cause the highest number of civilian casualties, followed by complex and suicide attacks and improved explosive devices (IEDs).

Militant Rabbi left home in April to join jihad
[Dhaka Tribune] Neighbours of Kazi Fazle Rabbi, who was killed in a police raid in Narayanganj on Saturday morning, were not surprised to learn that he was a krazed killer and said he was radicalised in a neighbourhood mosque

"Rabbi left home in April, telling his sister that he was going to join jihad. He said he would meet his family on the Judgement Day," said Afzal Hossain Dodul, deputy commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad Jessore Sadar committee and a neighbour. "After he left, I helped his father in filing a general diary with police."

The Dhaka Tribune tried to contact Rabbi’s father Kazi Habibullah yesterday morning; after several attempts, he agreed to speak with this correspondent on the ground floor of his house, from behind a curtain.

"I learnt of my son’s death on Saturday evening. Write reports on him of you want, I don’t have a problem with that. But what about those who made my son a krazed killer? Why is the government not doing anything to catch them?" he said.

Asked if he would collect his son’s dead body, he said: "Of course, I will," before leaving abruptly.

Afzal said Rabbi would likely be buried at his ancestral village in Magura district.

The Dhaka Tribune also spoke to a number of people who live in the same locality as Rabbi’s family in Kismat Nawapara, Jessore Sadar upazila. All of them said Rabbi was shy and polite, but was not very social and did not mix with other boys his age in the neighbourhood.

"Rabbi was a recluse and was always using his laptop. Whenever his parents entered his room, he promptly shut it down. Different jihadi books were found in his house, which were destroyed by his father," said Moshiar Rahman, the family’s neighbour.

"The only person he was visibly friendly with was the imam at the local mosque, Md Yahiya. Yahiya tried to radicalise a number of local boys, but Rabbi was the only one to fall into the trap," said local resident Shafiul Alam.

When locals discovered Yahiya’s militancy recruitment, they threw him out of the mosque.

North Korea publicly executes two officials: South Korean newspaper
[REUTERS] North Korea publicly executed two officials in early August for disobeying leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
, a South Korean newspaper reported on Tuesday, in what would be the latest in a series of high-level purges under the young leader's rule, if confirmed.

Kim took power in 2011 after the death of his father, Kim Jong Il, and his consolidation of power has included purges and executions of brass hats, South Korean officials have said.

Citing an unidentified source familiar with the North, the JoongAng Ilbo daily said former agriculture minister Hwang Min and Ri Yong Jin, a bigwig at the education ministry, had been executed.

The report could not be independently verified, and South Korea's Unification Ministry, which handles North Korea-related matters, did not have immediate comment.

Some previous media reports of executions and purges in the reclusive state later proved inaccurate.

The report of the executions comes soon after the South said North Korea's deputy ambassador in London had defected and arrived in the South with his family, dealing an embarrassing blow to Kim's regime.

North Korea rarely announces purges or executions, although state media confirmed execution of Kim's uncle and the man widely considered the second most powerful man in the country, Jang Song Thaek, in 2012 for factionalism and crimes damaging to the economy.
Apparently done with anti-aircraft guns.

Syrian Army, Hezbollah capture Tal Sanourbat in southern Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Armed Forces, alongside Hezbollah, seized Tal Sanourbat in the southern part of Aleppo city on Tuesday after a violent battle with the jihadist rebels of Jaish Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) near the Artillery Academy.

According to local reports, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah stormed Tal Sanourbat after failing to advance at the Aleppo Technical College; this prompted them to concentrate their efforts at this large hilltop.

Two hours after launching their assault on Tal Sanourbat, the Syrian Armed Forces, led by the Republican Guard, managed to establish full control over every flank after expelling the jihadist rebels from this southern Aleppo site.

While the capture of Tal Sanourbat is good news for the Syrian Armed Forces; this may be a fleeting victory for them because control of this hilltop constantly changes hands every week.

Homeland eyes special declaration to take charge of elections
I feel so much more assured...not.
[WashingtonExaminer] Even before the FBI identified new cyber attacks on two separate state election boards, the Department of Homeland Security began considering declaring the election a "critical infrastructure," giving it the same control over security it has over Wall Street and and the electric power grid.

The latest admissions of attacks could speed up that effort possibly including the upcoming presidential election, according to officials.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson also said that the big issue at hand is that there isn't a central election system since the states run elections. "There's no one federal election system. There are some 9,000 jurisdictions involved in the election process," Johnson said.
That would make it a lot harder to take over, especially if more than half the governors are uninterested.

#8  Honestly, I think the door to voter fraud was opened wide when the Dems pushed it years ago across the country as a way to expand their inner city voter fraud practices into the burbs. That Vlad or the Guangzou unit or some Iranian Quds force hacker would play bean counter to mess with the election is now a very high risk threat. BUT, even if DHS actually did an honest job of protecting the fairness of the elections (a dubious assumption in my opinion) after DoJ Fast and Furious, the IRS scandals, DoS Benghazi, DoJ non prosecution of Hilda, the EPA lies, the FBI loosing Mateens wife, I honestly think that no matter what happens this is another nail in the coffin of the peoples growing utter mistrust of their federal government. The schism of inner city takers and suburb/rural makers, layered on black/brown vs white racial mistrust and agitated BLM rioting is growing at geometric rates, and this will only add to that if it happens. If Champ tries to pull something like a postponement of the election or "investigation" into the outcome and remain in office, there will be hell to pay like we haven't seen since 1861...
Posted by: NoMoreBS || 08/31/2016 17:37 Comments || Top||

#9  I don't trust the DHS to take charge of elections. At least with a decentralized system of voting as we now have under control of the states, voter fraud is somewhat localized and harder to pull off. Moreover, less damage can be done under a decentralized set up. A centralized system of voting under the control of the Federal government will make it much easier to carry on large scale voter fraud and create havoc. I'd say hell no.

...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
said in a German newspaper interview to be published on Wednesday.

Merkel, who has faced criticism in Germany for launching her policies of welcoming refugees a year ago, also told the Sueddeutsche Zeitung that Germany and the EU will need patience and endurance in dealing with migration of people to Europe.

"There are political issues that one can see coming but don't really register with people at that certain moment - and in Germany we ignored both the problem for too long and blocked out the need to find a pan-European solution," she said.

Merkel made the comments in an unusually self-critical analysis that appeared to be timed to the one-year anniversary on Wednesday of her now-famous statement "wir schaffen das", or "we can do this", when asked about the rising tide of refugees.

Her conservative party is expected to take a beating in two regional elections next month in part due to her refugee policies.

Taliban names Mullah Ibrahim Sadar as new military chief
[MILITARYTIMES] The Taliban have appointed a new military chief as the murderous Moslems try to gain ground rather than talk peace under a new leadership, Taliban officials said in telephone interviews over the weekend.

They said that the appointment of Mullah Ibrahim Sadar, once a close ally of Taliban founder Mullah Mohammed Omar, heralds a commitment to confrontation at a time when multiple governments are trying to coax the Taliban to the negotiating table.

Sadar is a battle-hardened commander, who gained prominence among Taliban foot soldiers following the movement's overthrow in 2001. The two officials both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly for the Taliban.

said Tuesday, citing testimony from witnesses and relatives, that two tribal militias in the Kurdish region of Iraq recruited children from a camp south of Irbil and drove them away to a town near Mosul.

The group said the recruits are intended to reinforce frontline positions in Nineveh province, where Mosul is located.

Iraq’s prime minister has pledged that Mosul will be retaken from ISIS this year. After a string of territorial defeats over the past year, Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, is the last major urban territory ISIS holds in the country.

"The recruitment of children as fighters for the Mosul operation should be a warning sign for the Iraqi government," said Bill Van Esveld, senior children’s rights researcher at Human Rights Watch. "The government and its foreign allies need to take action now, or children are going to be fighting on both sides in Mosul."

Human Rights Watch has documented that ISIS has extensively recruited and deployed children in its forces.

UK man identifies 12-year-old son as ISIS murderer
[Ynet] A British man has identified his son, JoJo, as the British boy seen recently executing a shackled Kurd along with four other young boys; he says that JoJo was taken by his mother to Syria three years ago.

A British man claimed that, on watching an ISIS video, he identified his 12-year-old son murdering a Kurdish man in cold blood.

"JoJo was a completely normal boy who played in the park with his friends. I haven't seen him in over three years, and suddenly I identified him executing a man my age. I have no doubt that he's been through a serious brainwashing," said the father, a resident of Kent.

The 12-year-old JoJo, who has received the ISIS nickname of "the British Abu Hussein," is seen in the execution video wearing a camouflage uniform and brandishing a gun that he points at his shackled victim. Alongside him in the video are four other young boys about his age from Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Egypt and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
who are executing their own Kurdish victims.

The blue-eyed boy is seen yelling, "Allah akbar" and grinning after killing the man.

Three years ago, JoJo's mother, Sally Jones, converted to Islam and disappeared shortly thereafter. It turned out that she took her young son along with her to Syria. There, the 47-year-old Jones married a 20-year-old Pak who is believed to have been killed in a US drone strike last year.

JoJo's father, who fears for his life should his identity become public, said, "We have to find the boy and bring him to Britannia, treat him and save him."

Dressed as wimminzez, ISIS troops infiltrate Daraa
[ARA News] DARAA – Syrian rebel fighters in the southern front of Daraa province captured Tuesday a group of ISIS militants dressed as women while trying to infiltrate into a rebel-held town, activists and eyewitnesses reported.

Dozens of displaced civilians who have escaped war-torn areas in Syria’s southern Daraa province were allowed into the rebel-held town of Tassil to take shelter. However, a number of militant fighters from the Islamic State (ISIS) were reportedly trying to make use of the displacement movement to infiltrate into the rebel stronghold, while dressed up as women.

At least 16 ISIS jihadis were caught cross-dressing and trying to enter Tassil town on Tuesday.

“Suspicions were raised when a number of women were wearing men’s shoes. Two of them were identified as ISIS members and detained immediately by the rebel fighters, then clashes broke out and led to the death of at least ten ISIS militants and the arrest of four others. They were all dressed up as women,” media activist Muhammad Ubaida told ARA News in Daraa.

This is not the first time for ISIS militants to cross-dress in a bid to infiltrate into areas held by rival groups.

Similar cases have been reported in towns held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria, such as Tel Abyad where at least 20 ISIS fighters –who were dressed up as women–tried in April to enter the town and carry out attacks on SDF positions there.

ISIS abducts 40 civilians from Hawija

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – A security source in Kirkuk province informed on Tuesday that ISIS abducted 40 civilians from Hawija while they were trying to escape from the ISIS-controlled areas to the south-west of the province.

Sharing details the source said, “ISIS abducted 40 civilians from Hawija. The abductors took the victims to the district center”.

“The abductees were intending to escape from the ISIS-controlled areas to Kirkuk and Salah al-Din,” further added the source seeking anonymity.

It may be mentioned here that as the security forces have tightened the noose on ISIS and have launched multiple operations to liberate several areas, the residents from various areas have taken the onus of escaping from these areas to safer places. Even though on a few occasions the efforts have been successful, ISIS however, on a majority of situations have foiled such escape adventures.

ISIS Top Dawg flees with $300K

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Al-Hashed al-Sha’abi official Jabbar Maamouri announced on Tuesday that an ISIS leader of Saudi origin fled Hawija taking along around 300,000 dollars.

Maamouri, in a statement issued to Iraqi News, said, “ISIS leader Abu Jihad Saudi fled from Hawija, situated to the south-west of Kirkuk, to an unknown destination, taking around 300,000 US dollars with him. This money was collected by force or by blackmailing different families.”

“Several ISIS leaders, in the recent past, have escaped Hawija by taking a lot of money which was looted from the families. The leaders have taken the escape route after they realized that their days in the city have been numbered, especially after their overwhelming defeat in Anbar, Salahuddin and Diyala.”

It is worth mentioning here that ISIS has been controlling Hawija, situated 55 km south-west of Kirkuk, since June 2014 and it gradually became one of the most important strongholds of the organization in Kirkuk.

ISIS executes 13 in Hawija

(IraqiNews.com)Kirkuk – A security source in Kirkuk province announced on Tuesday that the ISIS executed 13 civilians on charges of facilitating the escape of the families from Hawija.

Sharing details the source said, “ISIS beheaded 13 civilians in Riyad area in Hawija, 55 km southwest of Kirkuk. The execution was carried out after the Sharia court passed out a verdict, charging them of facilitating the escape of several families from Hawija to Salahuddin province and other areas in Kirkuk. ”

“After being defeated overwhelmingly at different areas of the province, ISIS now lives under the shadow of a constant fear,” further added the source seeking anonymity.

Russia claims it killed IS spokesman Adnani in Syria: In a statement, Russia’s defense ministry said a Russian Su-34 warplane on Tuesday killed “up to 40” IS fighters in a bombing raid near the village of Um Hosh in the province of Aleppo.

“According to information confirmed through several intelligence channels, field commander Abu Mohamed al-Adnani was among those killed,” the statement said.

US officials say Russian claim it killed top IS strategist is a joke: An anonymous US official said the strike was carried out by a Predator drone, which fired a Hellfire missile at the car in which Adnani was believed to be traveling.

Turkish, Kurdish forces in Syria agree to ‘stop shooting at each other’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Turkish and Kurdish militas in northern Syria have reached a "loose agreement" to stop fighting each other, a US defense official told AFP on Tuesday.

"In the last several hours, we have received assurance that all parties involved are going to stop shooting at each other and focus on the ISIS threat," said Colonel John Thomas, Central Command front man, using an acronym for the ISIS group.

"It’s a loose agreement for at least the next couple of days and we are hoping that will solidify."

Russian airstrikes propel the Syrian Army to recapture Khattab village in northern Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] Two hours after withdrawing from Khattab in northern Hama, the Syrian Armed Forces recovered all of their lost points and established full control over this key town that is located just 5 km north of the picturesque provincial capital.

A military source from the Syrian Arab Army’s 11th Tank Division told Al-Masdar News on Tuesday night that the government forces managed to regain control of Khattab after Russian Arclight airstrikes repeatedly struck Jund Al-Aqsa’s (Al-Qaeda franchise) positions near the Mhardeh-Hama Road.

The Russian Air Force was mostly absent during the Syrian Arab Army’s losses in the northern Hama countryside on Tuesday; however, their presence tonight helped propel the government forces to recapture some of their lost points.

Clashes are currently ongoing at the northern outskirts of Khattab, as the Syrian Armed Forces attempt to recover more territory they lost on Tuesday.

Jund Al-Aqsa within 5 km of Hama City

[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels of Jund al-Aqsaa
...a Salafist group that has been active during the Syrian Civil War. Formerly known as Sarayat al-Quds, the group was founded by Abu Abdul 'Aziz al Qatari as a subunit within al-Nusra....
(Al-Qaeda franchise), alongside their allies from the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA), reportedly captured the village of Khattab in northern Hama after a short battle with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

According to a military source in the province, the jihadist rebels quickly advanced south of Taybat Al-Imam to the nearby village of Khirbat Al-Hujamah, where they were once again able to overwhelm the Syrian Armed Forces.

Following the capture of Khattab, Jund Al-Aqsa and their allies moved onto the key town of Khattab, where they were confronted by a small unit of Syrian Arab Army soldiers at the northern flank.

Not long after the preliminary firefights at the northern flank of the town, the Syrian Armed Forces withdrew their units to the south in order to avoid being overrun by Jund Al-Aqsa and their allies.

The jihadist rebels are now within 5 km of Hama City after cutting off the Mhardeh-Hama Road, which was a vital supply route for the government forces.

72 mass graves contain thousands massacred by Islamic State
Considerably more about this story from yesterday.
[Chicago Tribune] Surrounded by smoke and flames, the sound of gunshots echoing around him, the young man crouched in the creek for hours, listening to the men in his family die.

On the other side of the mountain, another survivor peered through binoculars as the handcuffed men of neighboring villages were shot and then buried by a waiting bulldozer. For six days he watched as the Lions of Islam filled one grave after another with his friends and relatives.

Between them, the two scenes of horror on Sinjar mountain contain six burial sites and the bodies of more than 100 people, just a small fraction of the mass graves Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Lions of Islam have scattered across Iraq and Syria.

Islamic State mass graves
In exclusive interviews, photos and research, The News Agency that Dare Not be Named has documented and mapped 72 of the mass graves, the most comprehensive survey so far, with many more expected to be uncovered as the Islamic State group's territory shrinks. In Syria, AP has obtained locations for 17 mass graves, including one with the bodies of hundreds of members of a single tribe all but exterminated when IS Lions of Islam took over their region. For at least 16 of the Iraqi graves, most in territory too dangerous to excavate, officials do not even guess the number of dead. In others, the estimates are based on memories of traumatized survivors, Islamic State propaganda and what can be gleaned from a cursory look at the earth. Still, even the known victims buried are staggering -- from 5,200 to more than 15,000.

Sinjar mountain is dotted with mass graves, some in territory clawed back from IS after the group's onslaught against the Yazidi minority in August 2014; others in the deadly no man's land that has yet to be secured.

The bodies of Talal Murat's father, uncles and cousins lie beneath the rubble of the family farm, awaiting a time when it is safe for surviving relatives to return to the place where the men were bumped off. On Sinjar's other flank, Rasho Qassim drives daily past the graves holding the bodies of his two sons. The road is in territory long since seized back, but the five sites are untouched, roped off and awaiting the money or the political will for excavation, as the evidence they contain is scoured away by the wind and baked by the sun.

Hamas recently opened offices in Tunisia, official says
[IsraelTimes] Senior terror group leader says HQ operating in moderate North African country with Tunis’s blessing

Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, recently opened up official offices in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, a big shot from the terror group revealed on Sunday.

Moussa Abu Marzouk told the Tunisian news channel el-Bilad that Hamas has "new-old" offices in Tunis, publicly acknowledging the headquarters for the first time.

The Hamas leader said the offices were opened with the blessing of the Tunisian authorities. He did not specify when the offices were opened.

The Islamist terror group kept its main offices in Damascus until 2012, when war and political upheaval forced the group’s politicianship to move to Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
. Hamas also keeps official offices in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....

...though Turkey made promises about what they would be permitted to do there.
After a late December 2011 visit to Tunisia by then-Paleostinian prime minister in Gazoo Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
, rumors swirled that Hamas might open an office in Tunis -- where the exiled secular Paleostinian leadership of the PLO -- led by Yasser Arafat -- were once based through most of the 1980s and early 1990s.

Widely viewed as the most liberal of Arab states, Tunisia began cooperating diplomatically with Israel in 1994, and two years later the two countries opened mutual representative offices. Tunisia shut its Tel Aviv office in 2000, however, following the outbreak of the Second Intifada.

A popular uprising that began in Tunisia in late 2010 further exacerbated the hostility on the street toward the Jewish state, and after the ouster of president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in early 2011, calls for criminalizing ties with Israel abounded.

Tunisia is considered the rare success story of the Arab Spring, wherein the toppling of a long-time dictator has produced a series of democratic elections in relative peace. Tunisia’s largest Islamist party Ennahda ditched the term "Islamist" in May in a move seen as highlighting the success story of Tunisian politics.

The country still continues to be burdened by high unemployment and two attacks that targeted tourists last year have added more stress to the economy.

Israel razes home of Palestinian involved in deadly shooting
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Israel’s military says its forces demolished the home of a Paleostinian involved in the ambush of a family car in the West Bank that killed an Israeli and maimed his wife and two of their children.

It said the residence in Dura near the West Bank city of Hebron Bank was razed Tuesday. It said the man "assisted in the planning and execution" of the July 1 attack that killed Miki Mark, a 48-year-old father of 10 children.

The shooting was one of a wave of attacks since September 2015. Paleostinians have killed 34 Israelis and two visiting Americans. Some 208 Paleostinians died in that time, most identified as attackers by Israel.

Israel says house demolitions are an effective deterrent against attacks. Critics counter the tactic amounts to collective punishment.

Florida Police Arrest Vladimir Putin For Trespassing At Publix Supermarket
Florida police have arrested Vladimir Putin for trespassing.

Putin, 48, was collared last week after cops responded to a 911 call about a man causing a disturbance at a Publix supermarket in West Palm Beach.

According to witnesses, Putin was yelling at Publix employees and ignored demands to leave the business.

Seen at right, Putin was subsequently arrested by police and charged with trespassing and obstructing officers without violence.

Putin, who has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor counts, was freed early this afternoon from the Palm Beach county jail (where he was locked up in lieu of $1000 bond). A judge has ordered Putin to undergo a mental health assessment, according to court records.

Putin is scheduled for a September 26 court appearance.

Syrian rebels make gains in northern Hama province
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syrian rebels have captured a strategic town in northern Hama province in a major offensive that threatens government loyalist towns populated by minority Christians and Alawites north of the bustling provincial capital, rebels and a monitor said on Tuesday.

The town of Halfaya was stormed on Monday after the hardline bad boy Jund al-Aqsa alongside Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) brigades launched a battle overnight that overran several army and pro-government checkpoints in northern Hama countryside.

The town, which is near a main road that links the coastal areas with the Aleppo-Damascus highway is only a few kilometers from the historic Christian town of Mahrada to the west.

"We are now cleansing the town after liberating it from the regime and will have more surprises in store," said Abu Kinan, a commander in Jaish al Ezza, a rebel group that fought in the town.

A rapid collapse in government defenses allowed the rebels to also take a string of villages including Buwaydah, Zalin and Masassnah. They were threatening Taybat al Imam to the east of Halfaya.

The offensive brought them closer to the army stronghold of Soran, the army’s northern gateway to the city of Hama, the bustling provincial capital.

A Syrian military source said Arclight airstrikes conducted by the army killed dozens of rebels and would neither deny nor confirm Halfaya had fallen to rebels. Pro-government websites said the army was sending reinforcements to retake these towns.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which confirmed the fall of the town, said jets believed to be Syrian struck rebel outposts in the area, killing at least 20 rebels.

The myrmidon Jund al-Aqsa group deployed jacket wallahs to storm army checkpoints.

Jaish al Ezza threatened in a statement to hit the Mahrada power plant near the town, one of Syria’s largest, if civilian areas in rebel-held areas were bombed in retaliation.

The rebel offensive comes after weeks of heavy Russian and Syrian army bombing of rebel controlled Hama and southern Idlib countryside that rebels say has claimed dozens of civilian lives.

Syrian army offensives backed by heavy Russian air strikes to retake territory from rebels in the Hama countryside have had limited success.

The latest gains will consolidate rebels who captured at the end of last year the strategic town of Morek, north of Hama city on a major north-south highway crucial to control of western Syria.

Afghanistan
6 die in Helmand explosion
At least six civilians were killed in an explosion in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, local officials said Tuesday.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Omar Zwak confirmed the incident took place late on Monday evening in Nawa district.

He said the civilians belonged to a single family and at least five others also sustained injuries in the explosion which triggered due to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted on a roadside.

Zwak further added that the civilians were traveling in a vehicle and were their way to Khanshin to participate in a wedding when their vehicle struck the IED planted by the militants.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

Taliban insurgents and militants belonging to the other insurgent groups frequently use Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces but the ordinary civilians are often targeted in such attacks.

This comes as the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan released the latest civilian casualties report late last month which stated at least 3726 civilians were killed or wounded between January and June of this year.

The UN mission said the civilian casualties in the country has reached to a record number since counting began in 2009, with 5,166 civilians recorded killed or maimed in just the first six months of this year, of whom almost one-third were children.

The total civilian casualty figure recorded by the UN between 1 January 2009 and 30 June 2016 has risen to 63,934, including 22,941 deaths and 40,993 injured.

According to the UN mission, the anti-government elements remain responsible for 60 percent of the civilian casualties with ground engagements continuing to cause the highest number of civilian casualties, followed by complex and suicide attacks and improved explosive devices (IEDs).

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Glick: The End of Mahmoud Abbas
[TruthRevolt.org] Like it or not, the day is fast approaching when the Palestinian Authority we have known for the past 22 years will cease to exist.

PA leader Mahmoud Abbas’s US-trained Palestinian security forces have lost control over the Palestinians cities in Judea and Samaria. His EU- and US-funded bureaucracies are about to lose control over the local governments to Hamas. And his Fatah militias have turned against him.

Palestinian affairs experts Pinchas Inbari of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and Khaled Abu Toameh of the Gatestone Institute have in recent weeks reported in detail about the insurrection of Fatah militias and tribal leaders against Abbas’s PA.

In Nablus, Fatah terrorist cells are in open rebellion against PA security forces. Since August 18, Fatah cells have repeatedly engaged PA forces in lethal exchanges, and according to Inbari, the town is now in a state of “total anarchy.”

In Hebron, tribal leaders, more or less dormant for the past 20 years, are regenerating a tribal alliance as a means of bypassing the PA, which no longer represents them. Their first major action to date was to send a delegation of tribal leaders to meet with King Abdullah of Jordan.

Even in Ramallah, the seat of Abbas’s power, the PA is losing ground to EU-funded NGOs that seek to limit the PA’s economic control over the groups and their operations.

All of this fighting and maneuvering is taking place against the backdrop of the encroaching PA municipal elections, scheduled for October 8.

Hamas is widely expected to win control over most of the local governments in Judea and Samaria. Hamas’s coming takeover of the municipalities is likely playing a role in decisions by Fatah terrorist cells to reject the authority of the PA. Many of those cells can be expected to transfer their allegiance to Hamas once the terrorist group wins the elections.

Given his Fatah party’s looming electoral defeat, more and more PA functionaries are wondering why Abbas doesn’t use the growing anarchy in Palestinian cities as a reason to cancel them. Abbas seems to have calculated that Israel will step in and, as it has repeatedly done over the past 20 years, cancel the elections for him.

Media organs Abbas controls are full of conspiracy theories whose bottom line is that Israel is not canceling the elections Abbas declared because it is in cahoots with Hamas and other “collaborators” to undermine the PA.

Although Israel, of course, is in cahoots with no one, it is the case that the government has apparently finally lost its patience with Abbas and is looking past him.

Southeast Asia
25 soldiers die in Mindanao clashes
[GULFTODAY.AE] At least 25 soldiers, including a junior officer, were killed in their continuing festivities with the Al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
terror group in Mindanao but Malacanang Palace on Tuesday stressed this would not deter the government from pursuing its "search and destroy" operations against them as ordered by President Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte.

Colonel Edgard Arevalo, the front man of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), also reported the wounding of 10 other soldiers in the encounter that occurred on Monday in a remote village in the town of Patikul, Sulu in restive Mindanao.

Arevalo added the Abu Sayyaf corpse count has risen to 25 with scores of others maimed since the festivities started on Friday in line with Duterte’s order to destroy the hard boyz who operate with impunity in Sulu and its neighbouring island province of Basilan
...Basilan is a rugged, jungle-covered island in the southern Philippines. It is a known stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, bandidos, and maybe even orcs. Most people with any sense travel with armed escorts...
.The 15 soldiers killed was considered the single biggest casualty suffered by the military since Duterte became president and ordered a "total war" on the hard boyz who gained notoriety through a spate of kidnap-for-ransom cases involving foreigners and Filipinos that were often marred by the beheading of their hostages.

At Malacanang Palace, Secretary Ernesto Abella, the presidential front man, said the government was undeterred, stressing that despite the "unfortunate losses," the government would continue with "full force" against the Abu Sayyaf.

"President Duterte is focused on making sure the Abu Sayyaf threat should be terminated as soon as possible," Abella told a media briefing, adding, however, there was no timeline set.

General Ricardo Visaya, the AFP chief, also announced the deployment of five additional battalions, or 2,500 officers and men, to Sulu to reinforce that government forces engaged in the campaign against the Abu Sayyaf.

Initial military field reports said the soldiers caught up with the hard boyz in their "hot pursuit" operations on Monday when an hour-long heavy fighting broke out in a remote mountain village in Patikul.

A military officer who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained the military suffered heavy losses because the hard boyz had an strategic advantage because they occupied an elevated position as they fired at will at the pursuing soldiers below.

This developed as a senior Catholic prelate backed Duterte’s ongoing "seek and destroy" campaign against the Abu Sayyaf.

USPS employees accused of hoarding parcels, stealing veterans' medication
[LATIMES] Federal authorities have charged dozens of Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, postal workers and their associates with mail theft, embezzlement and an array of other crimes as part of a sweeping investigation into criminal activity at the U.S. Postal Service.

A total of 33 defendants were charged in 28 cases, including one individual who was found to have had tens of thousands of pieces of mail in her possession, according to a statement released Friday by the United States attorney’s office for the Central District of California.

Arrest warrants were issued for six of the 33 defendants, officials said.

In addition to mail theft and embezzlement by postal workers and contractors, some of the cases involve bank fraud and false statements; a few allege crimes by people who are not USPS employees.

"The mail system plays an important role in our country's commerce and social communication. Maintaining its integrity is vital," United States Attorney Eileen M. Decker said in a statement. "Mail theft across Southern California has increased recently, which is significant since this type of crime tends to be a precursor to other crimes like identity theft and drug offenses. As a result, we are stepping up enforcement."

The alleged mail theft manifested itself in a variety of bizarre and disturbing forms, according to prosecutors.

Postal carrier Sherry Naomi Watanabe, 48, was found to have more than 48,000 pieces of mail at her Sawtelle residence, the Justice Department said. That mail was supposed to have been delivered on her route in Placentia.

In another case, Nicole Elwood, 45, was charged with mail theft for allegedly stealing medications sent by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to veterans.

Justin Brewster, a 25-year-old USPS mail processing clerk, is accused of stealing video games that were mailed to or from the video game rental service Gamefly; Michael Smith, 43, allegedly took money orders from a mail envelope; and prosecutors say Jarol Garcia, 33, stole at least 166 mobile phones from parcels as they went through the Moreno Valley Delivery Distribution Center.

SC upholds Mir Quasem’s death penalty
[Dhaka Tribune] The Supreme Court has upheld death sentence for condemned war criminal Mir Quasem Ali
...Jamaat-e-Islamic Central Committee member and Saudi money man in Bangla. Currently waiting to be hanged....
for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

A five-member Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha gave the verdict on Tuesday morning, rejecting Mir Quasem’s appeal to review his death penalty.

The same bench conducted the hearing of the review plea on August 24 and 28.

A top Jamaat-e-Islami

The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
leader and financier, Quasem filed the review petition after the apex court published its full verdict and the International Crimes Tribunal issued the death warrant against him on June 6.

The war crimes tribunal sentenced Quasem, now 64, to death on November 3, 2014 on two charges including killing seven people after abduction in Chittagong. He was also awarded a total of 72-year imprisonment on eight other proven charges of abduction, conspiracy and planning.

Later, the Appellate Division upheld the death sentence on March 9. Quasem’s family and his party terms the judgement a "judicial killing."

A key player behind the formation of notorious al-Badr force in Chittagong during the Liberation War, Quasem had set up makeshift torture camps at different places in the port city including Daleem Hotel in Andorkilla area. He was known as "Bangali Khan" (Khan referred to as Pak occupation forces) for his atrocities.

According to the government, Quasem has also spent a large amount of money to appoint US-based lobbyists to make the war crimes trials controversial.

The Day I Went Head-To-Head With Donald Trump
[FORBES] The first thing I noticed about Mr. Trump was that he was a stickler for detail. As a politician, he may affect a breezy platform style, but in the office, he was all business. Right off the bat, he corrected my team’s estimates of future financing requirements. He must have phoned an expert minutes before the meeting, because he said that by the latest market information he had, our current interest rates were off by 0.1%.

That was for openers. He went through every element of our proposal with a gimlet eye, challenging our assumptions, forecasts and business models with an exactitude and a level of expertise that was most impressive. It was as if he had a Wharton business professor whispering in his ear.

He wasted no time on civilities. He was brusque, impatient and dismissive of any information that he thought was inadequate, or any detail that he thought did not bear directly on the matter at hand. He cut right to the heart of things.

The senior members of my negotiating team were the products of privilege and Ivy League schools, and were highly successful executives in their own right. They were not used to this kind of treatment.

But for my own part, I had not only been an attack flight officer in the first Gulf war, I had also driven a truck through some of New York’s roughest neighborhoods. So I took it all in stride. Mr. Trump is a New Yorker, I reasoned. Fine. So am I. We can speak the same language--even if that language is rather coarse to some ears. We understand each other.

In the end, I can say that Mr. Trump drove a hard bargain. But he was honest, and he was a square dealer. When we were through--in less time than we had expected--we had reached an agreement that was ethical, profitable and fair to all parties concerned. It was also an agreement that meant good jobs for working people and healthy tax revenues for the local government.

If we didn’t come away from the table liking Mr. Trump, there’s no question that we came away with a lot of respect for him. He was a tough, shrewd, no-nonsense executive who knew how to get things done, and done quickly. He was also an adversary whom no one would want to mess with.

Isn’t that what really matters in a president?

I don’t know when his detractors decided that Donald Trump is the only candidate for president who never went to finishing school.

Some of our most effective presidents were, to put it mildly, rather rough-hewn. Some were shameless womanizers. Some bullied subordinates. Some of them used salty language. Some of them had thin skins and hair-trigger tempers.

Harry Truman, for example, was notorious not only for profanity, but for threatening to black the eyes of a music critic who found fault with his daughter’s singing. Lyndon Johnson and Abraham Lincoln were country boys who sometimes indulged in barnyard humor. Grover Cleveland avoided military service during the Civil War. Andrew Jackson once killed a man in a duel. Who cares about any of that today?

What we need in the White House--and need desperately--is someone who can cut through the Washington gridlock and get things done. Based on my own head-to-head experience with him, I know that Donald Trump has what it takes to do that--and more. He’s a tough man who can fill the toughest job in the world.

He went to Mexico to meet with the President (both Hillary and Trump were invited but only Trump accepted the invitation), 4. He met with the president of Mexico presumably to explore mutual interests and negotiate (should he become president) just prior to giving a major speech on immigration tonight in Phoenix and 5. He gives the impression he is capable and willing to work hard on behalf of the American people.

#5  Here's what Hillary had to say. Hillary Clinton today used her first public event in nearly a week to bash Donald Trump for “dropping in” on Mexico, saying building relationships takes more than “a photo op.”
"You don't build a coalition by insulting our friends or acting like a loose cannon. You do it by putting in the slow, hard work of building relationships," the Democratic presidential nominee and former secretary of state said during remarks at the American Legion's national convention in Cincinnati, referring to her Republican opponent.
"Getting countries working together was my job every day as your secretary of state. It's more than a photo op. It takes consistency and reliability. Actually, it's just like building personal relationships. People have got to know that they can count on you, that you won't say one thing one day and something totally different the next.

Syrian Army inches closer to jihadist stronghold in Eastern Ghouta
[ALMASDARNEWS] Units from the Syrian Army’s elite Republican Guard continued their advance in Eastern Ghouta capturing a 1 km squared territory from Hawsh Al-Farah in the direction of Tal Sawwan following intense festivities with the Saudi-sponsored Jaish Al-Islam jihadist group.

Clashes are ongoing as the Syrian Armed Forces look to fortidy their positions in the Carton Factory that lies southwest of the horse farms.

The recent military developments in the northern axis of Eastern Ghouta place the Syrian Army on the verge of cutting off the Islamist stronghold of Tal Kurdi from Al-Rayhan and Douma.

As of now, only a few makeshift farm roads connect the two regions. Should the Syrian Armed Forces capture Tal Kurdi in the coming days or weeks, the would alleviate much of the danger from Adra city while ensuring the safety of the Damascus-Homs highway.

Britain, France seek UN sanctions against Syria for chemical attacks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Britannia and La Belle France called Tuesday for United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
sanctions to be imposed on Syria after a UN-led investigation found the regime had carried out chemical attacks.

The UN ambassadors from London and Gay Paree described the use of chemical weapons against civilians as a war crime ahead of a council meeting to discuss the investigation’s findings.

"La Belle France favors a quick and strong Security Council response," said French Ambassador Francois Delattre.

This would provide for "imposing sanctions on those who are responsible for these acts, which are constitutive of war crimes and crimes against humanity," he told news hounds.

US Ambassador Samantha Power did not specify what measures should be taken, but called on the Security Council to act swiftly to ensure those responsible for using chemical weapons "pay a price."

An investigative panel set up by the Security Council said in a report last week that Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
’s forces had carried out at least two chemical attacks, one in 2014 and one in 2015.

Previous reports from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) had concluded that toxic gases have been used as weapons in Syria’s five-year war, but stopped short of identifying the perpetrators.

The panel of inquiry, known as the Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM), for the first time pointed the finger of blame at the Assad regime for chemical weapons use after years of denial from Damascus.

British Ambassador Matthew Rycroft said the council will be "looking at the imposition of sanctions and some form of accountability within international legal mechanisms."

Rycroft said it was "essential that we have a robust international response" to impose "measures under chapter 7" of the UN charter, which provides for sanctions.

Nashiri, a detainee at the U.S. naval facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is accused of overseeing a plan by myrmidon Islamic group al Qaeda to ram a boat full of explosives into the side of the U.S. guided-missile destroyer Cole off Yemen in 2000. Seventeen U.S. sailors were killed in the blast that tore a huge hole in the ship. He has also been linked with an attack on a French ship and an attempted attack on a second U.S. vessel.

His lawyers challenged whether the U.S. military commission had jurisdiction to hear his case. The lawyers argue that the United States was not engaged in "hostilities" with al Qaeda at the time of the attacks, meaning his acts were not crimes of war.

Writing for the court, Judge Thomas Griffith said Nashiri had to wait until after the trial to renew his claims because court precedent urges judges not to intervene in ongoing military legal proceedings.

Judge David Tatel wrote a dissenting opinion saying the court should have considered Nashiri's case now, citing the "extraordinary and unusual circumstances," including the allegation that he was subject to "years of brutal detention and interrogation tactics."

Nashiri was captured in October 2002 and has been in U.S. custody since then. He was at one point kept at so-called Central Intelligence Agency "black sites" where he was interrogated, according to his testimony. He has been detained at the Guantanamo facility since 2006.

Egypt parliament adopts disputed law on churches
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Egyptian parliament on Tuesday adopted a law on regulating the construction of churches, despite opposition by some members of the Christian community which complains of discrimination.

Egypt's Copts, the Middle East's largest Christian minority, have long struggled to obtain official permission to build places of worship.

They find it especially difficult to erect churches south of Cairo, where even the rumor of Christians building one can spark mob violence.

"The parliament adopted the bill presented by the government for the construction and restoration of churches by a two-thirds majority," the parliament's website reported.

The new law stipulates that provincial governors will be authorized to issue permits to build churches and that they must respond within four months to each application, politicians told AFP.

In the case of refusal, the community may appeal the decision to the administrative court.

The construction of churches in Egypt is still governed by a ministerial decree dating back to 1934.

Ishak Ibrahim, a researcher at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, criticized the lack of transparency in the debates that preceded the adoption of the new law.

"The law was decided by the authorities and a limited number of clergy. Of course they do not represent all Christians," said Ibrahim.

"Members of parliament were not given a chance to propose amendments for some items, with their requests being ignored with the excuse that it is to reach consensus."

He also noted the absence of a unified places of worship law that would govern both the construction of churches and mosques, noting that legislation concerning the mosques is more lenient.

Copts, who make up about 10 percent of Egypt's population of 90 million, have faced persecution and discrimination that spiked during the 30-year rule of Hosni Mubarak

Germany expects 300,000 asylum seekers this year
[IsraelTimes] As refugees continue to flow into the country, new poll shows 50% of Germans oppose a fourth term for Merkel

Germany expects up to 300,000 asylum seekers to arrive this year, less than one-third of the total during 2015’s record influx, the Federal Office for Moslem colonists Migrants and Refugees (BAMF) said Sunday.

BAMF chief Frank-Juergen Weise told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper that Germany’s healthy economy and improvements to refugee services over the last year meant that the country was well-placed to absorb new arrivals, particularly as their numbers have dropped off.

"We are preparing for between 250,000 and 300,000 refugees this year," he said.

"We can ensure optimal services for up to 300,000. Should more people arrive, it would put us under pressure, then we would go into so-called crisis mode. But even then we would not have conditions like last year."

Weise said his agency had made major strides in working through a large backlog in asylum claims but that it would not manage to clear the remaining 530,000 cases by the end of the year.
Nearly 1.1 million asylum seekers arrived in Germany, Europe’s top economic power, last year, putting enormous strain on the country’s bureaucracy to process claims and testing confidence in Chancellor Angela Merkel

to keep migrants colonists from reaching Greece -- a main entry point into the bloc -- has driven down arrivals from the Middle East and Afghanistan.

Weise said his agency had made major strides in working through a large backlog in asylum claims but that it would not manage to clear the remaining 530,000 cases by the end of the year.

He said integrating those allowed to stay in Germany into the labor market would be a "lengthy and costly" process.

Weise was nevertheless upbeat about the long-term prospects.

"We can do it," he said, echoing Merkel’s rallying cry during the crisis.

"A lot of what was going badly in the beginning (one year ago) we’ve eventually managed to do pretty well. And the economy in Germany is so good, thank god, that we can afford it."

Public sentiment is nevertheless sharply divided when it comes to Merkel, who has not yet said whether she will stand for a fourth term in a general election expected next September or October.

Bild am Sonntag cited a poll by independent opinion research group Emnid showing 50 percent of respondents opposed another four-year term for Merkel, while 42% said they wanted her to stay in office.
