#ImWithHyena: TBS Deletes Hilarious Tweet Comparing Hillary to Hyenas
Cable TV network TBS was forced to delete a funny tweet yesterday comparing presumptive Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton to a pack of laughing hyenas.

The comedy network conceded to deleting the tweet, which showed clips of the former secretary of state's trademark cackle spliced with footage of hyenas, after leftists on Twitter were butthurt offended.

"Move over Donkey! There's a new mascot in town," the tweet's text read, crediting @thehecklertbs, and using the hashtags: #ImWithHyena and #DNCinPHL.

"This post was obviously a poor attempt at humor and has been taken down," the network apologetically wrote. "Moving forward we'll leave political satire to professionals like Samantha Bee."
Ooh, that's gonna leave a mark.
A couple of Twitter users called out the network's hypocrisy.

The massive implications of Trump's Muslim travel ban in 5 maps
The way I see it: This article suggests WW III has already begun.
Donald Trump's latest proposal to stop immigration "from any nation that has been compromised by terrorism" is an "expansion" of his blanket ban on Muslims, he said in an interview that aired Sunday.

Trump has not defined which countries would be included in that list of territories, but on "Meet the Press" Sunday, he refused to rule out banning individuals from top US allies like France and Germany, saying that "they have totally been" compromised by terrorism.

Trump had previously said that if elected he would "suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats."

What would that version -- there have been several -- of the GOP nominee's proposed ban look like? And how many people would it affect? The short answer is millions. Here's the math, including based on tallying nonimmigrant and immigrant visas from countries that have any sort of terrorist activity:

Start with 'terrorist safe havens': 12 countries; 496,436 nonimmigrant and 74,283 immigrant visas in 2015

The State Department's annual report on global terrorist activity lists 12 "terrorist safe havens" around the world where "terrorists are able to organize, plan, raise funds, communicate, recruit, train, transit and operate." These safe havens include Somalia, Mali, Libya, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen.

Total countries so far: 12

Add 'state sponsors of terror': 3 countries; 45,935 nonimmigrant and 10,722 immigrant visas in 2015

An additional three countries -- Iran, Sudan and Syria -- are designated as state sponsors of terrorism.

Total countries so far: 15

Nations where terror networks are based and operate: 14 countries; 1,741,169 nonimmigrant and 63,106 immigrant visas in 2015

The report lists a further 14 countries where terrorists operate or are based, though are not considered "safe havens." This list becomes broader since terror groups ranging from ISIS to al Qaeda and its affiliates have successfully recruited and infiltrated numerous operatives and cells into countries ranging from Turkey and Russia to Nigeria and India.

Total countries so far: 29

Other countries with active terror cells: 11 countries; 295,695 nonimmigrant and 16,883 immigrant visas in 2015

The State Department's list does not include countries that have smaller though substantial presence of jihadis or suspected jihadis, such as France, Belgium or the U.K., each of which has dozens of known terror cells and hundreds of known and suspected terror suspects. A total of 11 countries fall into this category.

Final tally: 40 countries

The State Department granted 2,571,762 nonimmigrant visas to residents of those 40 countries in fiscal year 2015. State also granted 158,877 immigrant visas to individuals from those countries in that same period.

2,738,528 visas in 2015

Citizens from some of these countries, such as France, Belgium and the U.K., do not require visas for tourist travel to the U.S. More than 7.5 million tourists from these countries traveled to the U.S. in 2014, according to data provided by the Department of Commerce.

All told, as many as 10.2 million people could be barred from the U.S.
If they can't prove that they're on the right team, that's fine with me.

#6  CNN opinionated reporting.
The numbers in the report from State are approximate at best. Use them as a baseline.
Blending 'source of' with 'operations in' introduces error conditions.

The third map is telling with moderate/victim states north of the Med and source states below. Australia details are sadly lacking.

CNN projects 10 million from the visa count. 7 million 'no visa required' from the north countries, 3 million from the south.

TSA 'screened' 700 MILLION passengers in 2015. Many would have been round trip repeats, but the control system and traveling public accommodated the brief inspection.

A scrub on 10 million is a good start.

CDC Issues ‘CLINTON TOXICITY ALERT!' Warns Contact Could Prove Fatal To One's Reputation.
[HUFFPOO] DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ, LATEST VICTIM, FORCED TO RESIGN FROM DNC!

Following a string of highly visible career implosions centered around Washington, D.C., Little Rock Arkansas and New York City, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta issued a stern warning to anyone considering an alliance -- personal or professional -- with Bill or Hillary Clinton.

According to the CDC’s CLINTON TOXICITY ALERT, "There are two types of professional fatalities commonly associated with the Clintons: Individual and Institutional. Individual Professional Toxic Infection (IPTI) usually occurs after experiencing regular or occasional contact with Hillary or Bill Clinton, where inevitably one is drawn into a web of deceit, dishonesty and self-enrichment. "Almost always," the alert continues, "to the detriment of the victim’s reputation, as well as to their soul and moral compass."

Recent toxic attacks cited by the CDC, where reputations and careers were unalterably stained or ruined because of toxic Clinton contact include Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Director James Comey, President Barack Obama, Congresswoman and ex-DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Clinton son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky, U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren, Harry Reid and Barbara Boxer, and State Department IT expert Bryan Pagliano. In most cases, the CDC notes, Clinton Toxic Infection victims were leading normal, ethical and non-criminal lives when without warning they came within infection range of Bill or Hillary Clinton.

The CDC cites one recent case where the victim had as little as 30 minutes contact with a toxic Clinton. Blithely ignorant of being infected, she later explained, "We were only speaking about grandchildren and golf," as if the superficiality of the conversation should have protected her from a toxic Clinton infection of her moral foundation. Later actions proved her highly susceptible to sudden moral shrinkage, her reputation now in tatters and universally execrated.

The fatal diminishment of institutional reputations is a common outgrowth of Clinton contact, especially regular ongoing contact. Institutions whose reputations were irredeemably stained or besmeared by contact with the Clintons include The U.S. Presidency, The U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. State Department, The FBI, the Democratic Party, Goldman Sachs and the Clinton Foundation, though the latter is often listed as a perpetrator rather than a victim in the spread of the fatal disease.

Individuals or organizations who fear they may have experienced fatal contact with Hillary or Bill Clinton are advised to immediately seek counsel from a priest, Jimmy Carter or an exorcist.

D.A. Dismisses All Bogus Charges Against David Daleiden for Exposing Planned Parenthood
On the night the head of the Planned Parenthood abortion company is slated to speak to the Democratic National Convention, the man behind the undercover videos has been vindicated. Again.
Still mission fucking accomplished as far as the progressives are concerned. Reported that he set up Planned Parenthood, although he is vindicated the MSM will never report it, therefore the public still has in their mind that PP was set up.
As LifeNews reported last month, a Harris County, Texas judge dismissed the bogus misdemeanor charge against David Daleiden for allegedly trying to buy body parts from the Planned Parenthood abortion business he was exposing for selling them as a part of the Center for Medical Progress' undercover investigation.

Today, Harris County District Attorney's office on Tuesday dismissed all charges against Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, the pro-life adovcate who worked with him on the groundbreaking videos. From the Houston Chronicle:
The Harris County District Attorney's office on Tuesday dismissed all charges against anti-abortion activists who secretly videotaped Planned Parenthood officials in Houston.

David Robert Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were charged with tampering with a governmental record, for using a fake identification to gain access to the facility. In a surprise move before a hearing on the legitimacy of the indictment, prosecutors dismissed the charges.

Deleiden and his attorneys claimed victory for the anti-abortion movement, saying they were satisfied with the decision.

Daleiden, 27, and Sandra Merritt, 62, both of Davis, Calif., were indicted by a Harris County grand jury in January, accused of tampering with a government record for allegedly using fake driver licenses to conceal their identities while dealing with a Houston Planned Parenthood clinic.

According to attorney for Daleiden, District Attorney Devon Anderson shared confidential information with the abortion business, which she was supposed to be investigating for running afoul of state laws prohibiting the purchase or sale of body parts form aborted babies.

Yet, in recent court filings by the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast's attorney Josh Schaffer admitted in a sworn declaration that the Harris County DA's office shared evidence with Planned Parenthood. That occurred even after the Texas Attorney General's office had forbidden Anderson's office from doing so.

The declaration was included as part of the DA office's response to David Daleiden's motion to quash the indictment against him, alleging prosecutorial misconduct.

Under oath, Schaffer, the Planned Parenthood attorney, admitted that he and Assistant District Attorney Sunni Mitchell attempted to do an end-run around the Texas Attorney General's directive to Mitchell not to share raw video footage with Planned Parenthood: "I was told that the Attorney General's Office agreed to give it to the HCDAO on the condition that the HCDAO not give it to PPGC. Mitchell told me that she would try to obtain the footage by other means."

Mitchell was responsible in 2013 for a Grand Jury that failed to indict Houston's late-term abortionist Douglas Karpen, after photographs and eyewitness testimony implicated him in illegal late-term abortions and killing babies who were born alive after failed abortions.

"The recent filings by the Harris County District Attorney confirm that the DA shared confidential documents and information with abortion provider Planned Parenthood, colluding with it in the prosecution of David Daleiden," said Thomas More Society Special Counsel, Peter Breen, attorney for David Daleiden.

Breen told LifeNews: "These filings also include evidence that appears to show that the DA's office worked with Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast to undermine the Texas Attorney General's independent investigation of that abortion provider. The conduct of Harris County prosecutors in this case is outrageous and illegal. We look forward to pressing our motion to quash this indictment in court."

This is the second time attorneys from Anderson's office and Planned Parenthood were accused of working together.

Daleiden is facing politically-motivated attacks on multiple fronts. Earlier this year, a Texas grand jury whose task was to investigate Planned Parenthood turned on the pro-life citizen journalist instead.

A Texas grand jury indicted Daleiden and another pro-life activist, Sandra Merritt, behind the videos. Instead of prosecuting Planned Parenthood for selling aborted baby parts, Daleiden was indicted for buying them.

Daleiden rejected a deal for probation on those charges in February, and his attorney said he demands an apology from the Texas district attorney who filed the bogus charges.
If there was any true justice in this system the prosecutors would all be sued and disbarred. And yet the elites are wondering why the common man has lost all faith in the rule of law.

Bernie Ecclestone's mother-in-law 'kidnapped in Brazil'
Sounds like Bernie has a dilemma to sort through.
The mother-in-law of Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has been kidnapped for ransom in her home city of Sao Paulo, Brazilian media reported Tuesday.

Aparecida Schunck Flosi Palmeira, 67, was seized Friday night in Interlagos, the Sao Paulo neighborhood that hosts the Brazilian circuit of the F1 Grand Prix, TV Globo reported.

There was no confirmation from Brazilian officials or from Ecclestone's staff in London.

"We neither confirm nor deny this report," a spokesman for the regional security ministry told AFP. "That is our policy in cases of suspected kidnapping, to avoid putting the lives of potential victims in danger."

According to Globo, the kidnappers are already in contact with the victim's family.

The Veja weekly reported that they were demanding payment of a ransom in pounds sterling worth 120 million reais (36 million dollars).

Aparecida Palmeira is the mother of Ecclestone's 38-year-old Brazilian wife Fabiana Flosi, who met the 85-year-old billionaire while working for the Interlagos Grand Prix in 2009.

The couple married in Switzerland and live in London.

Africa Subsaharan
Regional armies struggle in last push against Boko Haram
"You'll all be able to go home soon. Boko Haram is nearly finished," Niger's Interior Minister Mohamed Bazoum told a crowd of refugees seated quietly on dusty, sun-baked flats.

His words of optimism were belied by the dozens-strong security detail required to protect him as he toured his country's southern border.

Seven years into an insurgency that spread from Nigeria into Chad, Niger and Cameroon, regional armies are now in a final push to defeat Boko Haram, a once obscure Islamist sect turned deadly militant group.

But lingering divisions in the countries' multi-national joint task force (MNJTF) are complicating that mission.

"If there's no strategy to attack Boko Haram together, we won't ever finish with them," Mahamadou Liman Ali, an opposition lawmaker from southern Niger, told Reuters in Niamey.

At a time when the world's wealthy nations are focused on the fight against Islamic State and al Qaeda, financial support for the MNJTF's efforts against Boko Haram, which has pledged its allegiance to IS, have fallen short of targets.

That has left the task force's members - including Chad, the region's capable but increasingly reluctant military powerhouse - to shoulder the bulk of the costs of fighting the group.

Boko Haram's victims, which include 2.4 million displaced, live in hope that this month-old offensive - dubbed Operation Gama Aiki, or "finish the job" in the local Hausa language - might succeed where others have failed.

Some have doubts. From where he stays in southern Niger, refugee Usman Kanimbu sees smoke rising from the coalition's air strikes on insurgent positions in Nigeria, the home he fled.

"We've fled eight times. Each time we arrive somewhere Boko Haram attacks again. We would keep running, but we can't afford to anymore," he said. "I'm not sure this will ever end."

FRAGILE PROGRESS

As the sun sets over the Nigerian border, a featureless expanse of sand and scrub trees, soldiers from Niger peered over an earthen bern at territory held by Boko Haram.

The skies above the borderlands now rumble daily with the sound of fighter jets. Chadian troops have ventured onto Lake Chad, a Boko Haram stronghold. Regional military officers say they are taking back ground from the insurgents.

The task force may indeed be making headway against Boko Haram, which has fewer footholds than it once did. Its leader, Abubakar Shekau, may even be dead.

But the MNJTF is a far cry from what it was conceived to be, a dedicated 8,700-strong force blending soldiers from Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Benin.

Instead, the nations rely on their own armies to deal with Boko Haram threats. Troops from Chad, which has the region's strongest military, reinforce when needed then head back home.

"Each force is based in its country of origin. There's no integrated force with battalions moving in perfect coordination," said Vincent Foucher, West Africa researcher at International Crisis Group (ICG).

The need for operational integration in the fight against an enemy that knows no borders was exposed during a similar regional offensive early last year.

After troops from Chad and Niger drove Boko Haram from a string of towns in Nigeria's far north, they waited in vain for the Nigerian army to arrive and hold them.

"We were there for three or four months, but the Nigerian troops that were meant to take over from us were not ready," Niger's Brigadier General Abdou Sidikou Issa told Reuters.

Niger and Chad withdrew, according to a source with knowledge of the operation, because they feared becoming an occupying force. Issa said the troops were overstretched logistically, however. Either way, the vacuum they left allowed Boko Haram to reclaim positions and carry on cross-border raids.

"That's what's created problems for us again today," Issa said.

The MNJTF was meant to prevent a repeat of those kinds of incidents. The African Union endorsed the force in January 2015 and a headquarters was established in Chad's capital N'Djamena to coordinate forces against the ever-evolving threat of Boko Haram.

The AU has struggled to rally contributors to foot the bill for the MNJTF's $700 million budget, however. Donors, led by Nigeria and France, pledged $250 million in February, just over a third of what was needed, but dispersal has been slow. The United States has also aided with intelligence and training.

A senior MNJTF officer, who asked not to be named as he was not authorised to speak, told Reuters the money received so far was so little that it only had covered the cost of 11 vehicles and some radio equipment, with the individual armies bearing the rest of the costs.

"There are all these declarations of intentions, but, in concrete terms, nothing has been done yet," he said.

A spokesman for the MNJTF did not respond to a request for comment.

"HURTING"

A Boko Haram attack last month on Bosso, in southeastern Niger, which killed 32 soldiers and a number of civilians, was the kind of incident the MNJTF was created for.

But rather than the multinational force kicking into action as it is supposed to, Niger's President Mahamadou Issoufou had to fly to N'Djamena to lobby neighbour Chad for help.

Having played a lead role along with France in a 2013 intervention in Mali to drive back jihadist groups there, Chad's President Idriss Deby has become indispensable in the fight against West African Islamists.

But with low oil prices now causing Deby economic headaches at home and little direct financial support coming from his allies, analysts say he has grown resentful.

Two weeks after President Issoufou's visit, Reuters visited a half-finished hotel complex in the southern Niger city of Diffa that had been fully booked out by the Chadian army. The Chadians were nowhere to be seen. Dozens of bungalows sat empty.

It would take more than a month for them to arrive.

Excluding its oil sector, after 7 percent growth in 2014, Chad's economy contracted by 1.5 percent last year, according to the International Monetary Fund. Oil output rose to record levels, but low prices meant revenues dipped.

"This is costing (Deby) a lot of money. There's a big budget crisis ... He's definitely hurting," said Nathaniel Powell, a researcher with the Swiss-based Fondation Pierre du Bois.

A Chadian government official did not respond to a request for comment.

Niger's tiny army - 15,000 troops to cover 1.2 million square kilometres (463,300 square miles) of territory - is overstretched by Boko Haram, but also by the overflow of unrelated Islamist violence from Mali to its west.

Cameroon has meanwhile deployed thousands of troops, including special forces, to its north to secure its own territory against a suicide bombing campaign.

And while Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has shown more willingness than his predecessor to take on the insurgents, decades of graft have hollowed out his military and it now faces resurgent militancy in the oil-producing Niger Delta.

The senior MNJTF officer said the regional neighbours would continue to improve the force. In the meantime, they had no other choice than to act.

"If we wait, Boko Haram isn't going to wait for us, are they?" he said.

Afghanistan
Afghan Forces Kill 122 Islamic State Members After Kabul Attack
Kill 100 of them a day and the problem should go away in a year or so. Or at least it will get squeezed out of the region . . . .
Afghan troops killed 122 Islamic State militants after the group claimed responsibility for the country's deadliest single attack in 15 years over the weekend, according to the nation's Interior Ministry.

In the past 24 hours, Afghanistan security forces assaulted the insurgents in the eastern province of Nangarhar, killing a deputy military commander and arresting 20 others, according to a statement sent by the ministry on Tuesday.

On Saturday, more than 80 people were killed and another 231 were wounded when suicide bombers triggered two explosions at a rally by hundreds of ethnic Hazaras in Kabul. The attacks shattered claims by President Ashraf Ghani made four months ago that Islamic State had been wiped out in Afghanistan.

#3  Democrats will stay home in November.

Historically we have two terms for each part, then the party in power has low turnover and the other gets a chance.

Historically when things get violent (such as in 1968) Dems stay home rather than vote.

I suspect those two issues would create low Dem turnout alone, but then you have the betrayal of Bernie's fans by the DNC and the Hillary's general likability and I see a landslide.

Europe
Moderate Young Muslims Threaten Nudist Bathers With "Extermination"
A group of young Muslim men threatened men, women, and children at a swimming pool in Germany because they were offended by the fact the bathers were nude.
So why did they go in? Looking to be offended? Yeah, we have those kinds of folks over here, too.
A swimming pool in the town of Geldern in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany is home to bathers who prefer a more "natural" form of swimming. Nudists at the pool were verbally abused by a group of young Muslim men who threatened them because they consider swimming in the nude 'indecent behaviour'. The group of Muslims not only threatened the male bathers but also spat upon them and several women and children, reports Junge Freiheit.
Golly, for some reason it seems like they think they now own the place. Wait until they hit 20% of the population.
A total of six Muslim men were involved in the incident and are described by witnesses as being in their mid 20’s, all with full Islamic-style beards. The men insulted and threatened the nudists in both German and Arabic, yelling "Allahu akbar" at the bathers along with other Arabic insults.
Allan snackbar without the gunfire is like a hug without a squeeze!
One of the nudists, a mother, claimed that the young Muslims told her: "We [German] women are all sluts and they would exterminate all of us." The woman said the men all knew German quite well and at least some of them were likely second or third generation German Muslims who even after several generations had magically failed to integrate into the German socialist Utopian society. How can this be?. "This contempt, this potential for aggression made me really afraid," she continued and according to other witnesses the men referred to the bathers as "infidels".
Be careful who you vote for. Eventually, you have to pay the piper.
A staff member at the pool, Lisa-Marie Theunissen, described the incident to German media saying: "We had asked the men to be quiet," after visitors to the facility had complained to the staff about being threatened and harassed. According to reports the group of Muslims, described as being "southern looking", then went to a water skiing facility and extended their threats and harassment to the staff there whereupon they were chased out by one of the staff.
This time, at least.
When the group returned to the swimming pool the staff decided to call the local police. The police took the young men from the pool and checked their identification, and though there were no reports of arrests being made the state security service have said they will be investigating the matter further.
Better do it quick.
The situation bears similarities to other incidents involving migrants who are briefly detained after committing crimes, like sexual assault or theft, and then let go until a court date where they may never appear.
. . . or worse . . . .
The behaviour of the young men -- verbally abusing Europeans for activities considered socially acceptable in the West, but considered 'unIslamic' -- is similar to the so-called "sharia patrols" organised in an attempt to end gambling and alcohol consumption in Muslim areas. In Denmark one sharia patrol group smashed up a bar because they imposed a self-styled alcohol ban on the area after a surge of Muslims had moved in.
I wonder how things turned out there.

New Zealand Athlete Claims He Was Kidnapped by Police in Rio
Another reason not to go.
A New Zealand athlete claims that he was kidnapped by police at gunpoint in Rio.

Jason Lee, a New Zealand national jiu-jitsu champion, said he was pulled over by two armed police officers, who told him they were doing a routine search for drugs and weapons.

"First he asked me to stretch my arms, then patted me down. He grabbed my genital area, which was quite a surprise," Lee told New Zealand website Stuff, where his girlfriend Laura McQuillan works.

Lee said police officers also searched his car. He was then notified that he could not drive in Brazil without carrying his passport, according to Lee.

Police said Lee would be arrested if he didn't pay 2000 Brazilian Reais (around $610), according to Stuff.

But he didn't have enough cash so the police forced him into one of the officer's cars, Lee explained.

"At this point I acknowledged to myself that I've completely backed myself into a corner," Lee told Stuff.

After Lee withdrew the cash and gave the police the money, he was released.

"You can't say anything to anyone about this, not a word," the police said, according to Lee, but he told Stuff that he reported it to the Tourist Police the same night.

Requests for comment to police were not immediately returned.

Zimbabwean government to pay armed forces two weeks late
[SOUTHAFRICATODAY.NET] The Zim-bob-wean government announced late on Thursday, that the armed forces’ July salaries would be paid on Monday -- two weeks late.

Doctors and nurses would be paid on July 27, and teachers, the largest group of public servants on August 2.

Most public servants have been paid late for most of 2016, except for the armed forces who were paid on time, except for the last two months.

Late payment of salaries contributed to the mass work stay-away on July 6, as teachers and government medical staff were on strike to protest about not yet receiving their June salaries.

Young girl dies after being raped in India
A 14-year-old girl from the Dalit, or lower-caste, community died in India after being allegedly raped by the same man twice, police said Tuesday.

The victim succumbed to her injuries in a hospital in north Delhi at the weekend, days after a similar case was reported from the neighbouring state of Haryana.

The teenager was kidnapped from her home in Burari area in May by her neighbour who had also attacked her in December, local police chief Satbir Singh said.

“The girl’s parents have alleged that the 20-year-old man tortured her and forced her to drink corrosive chemicals which caused her death,” Singh said. “We have re-arrested the man. We are awaiting the medical reports, following which he may face murder charges as well”.

Dr. Ben Carson's Statement and The Hillary-Alinsky-Lucifer Connection
[American Spectator] In speech at the Republican convention last week, Ben Carson made a statement that raised some eyebrows. "Now, one of the things that I have learned about Hillary Clinton is that one of her heroes, her mentors, was Saul Alinsky," said Carson. "And her senior thesis was about Saul Alinsky. This was someone she greatly admired...."

So far so good. Nothing most political junkies haven’t heard before.

"And let me tell you something about Saul Alinsky," continued Carson. "He wrote a book called Rules for Radicals. It acknowledges Lucifer, the original radical who gained his own kingdom. Now think about that."

That certainly got a lot of people thinking.

"This is our nation where our founding document, the Declaration of Independence, talks about certain inalienable rights that come from our Creator, a nation where our Pledge of Allegiance says we are ’One nation under God,’" added Carson. "This is a nation where every coin in our pockets and every bill in our wallet says, ’In God We Trust.’ So are we willing to elect someone as president who has as their role model somebody who acknowledges Lucifer? Think about that."

In response, the liberal media predictably went bonkers.

"Ben Carson rails against Hillary Clinton, Lucifer," howled the headline in USA Today.

"Ben Carson Ties Hillary Clinton to Lucifer as GOP Swaps Campaign for Witch Trial," scowled the Daily Beast.

"She’s one-degree of separation from a devil-lover!" wailed the Daily Mail.

I must say that I shouldn’t be too critical of the liberal media’s apoplectic reaction, because I was likewise incredulous the first time I heard this claim.

It was 2007, and I was finishing a book on the faith of Hillary Clinton. One morning I heard a local radio talk-show host make an amazing claim: that Alinsky’s 1971 classic Rules for Radicals began with a dedication to Satan. Oh, I can’t believe that, I said. I was angry at the host. This kind of hyperbole gives conservative talk-radio a bad name!

And yet, it couldn’t be hard to check. I had better do so as author of a biography of Hillary Clinton in which I had a section on Hillary and Saul Alinsky. As part of the promotion for the book, I would likely appear on this same talk-show, and the host surely would ask me about the Lucifer acknowledgment.

I quickly emailed one of the staffers at our library at Grove City College. Did we have a copy of Rules for Radicals on our shelves? We sure did. Please pull it, I said. I’ll be right there.

I opened the book and couldn’t believe my eyes. Alinsky offered this acknowledgment:

Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history... the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -- Lucifer.

The Palestinians have called on the Arab League to help them prepare a legal file against the British government for issuing the Balfour Declaration almost 100 years ago.

Convention Nutter: Oy vey, you Bernie or Bust people are ridiculous
[CNBC] PHILADELPHIA -- Comedian Sarah Silverman had a harsh message Monday for Bernie Sanders supporters who have made an ultimatum: "You're being ridiculous."

Silverman, who backed the senator from Vermont in the Democratic primary, took the Democratic National Convention stage with Sen. Al Franken, a fellow comedian and Hillary Clinton supporter. Silverman said she would "vote for Hillary with gusto, as (she continues) to be inspired by the ideals set forth by Bernie."

Some delegates on the Wells Fargo Center floor broke out in a chant of "Bernie!" Over the gathering chant, Silverman chided back: "To the 'Bernie or Bust' people, you're being ridiculous."

Sanders mounted a strong Democratic primary challenge to Clinton, railing against what he called entrenched politicians and financial industry elites. Some Sanders supporters have pledged not to vote for presumptive nominee Clinton, who some feel embodies the systemic problems Sanders highlighted.

Sanders has endorsed Clinton and urged his supporters to support her and defeat Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Still, many pro-Sanders delegates on the floor Monday booed speakers and broke out in chants of "Bernie!"

Thousands of protesters have also rallied against Clinton's nomination here.

Belgium’s economic losses over the consequences of the March terrorist attacks in Brussels have amounted to 935 million euro (some $1.03 billion) in the first quarter of 2016, which is around 0.1 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), the Belgian Ministry of Economy said Tuesday.

According to the ministry, in the Brussels region alone company revenues decreased by 122.5 million euros during this period. Hotels, restaurants and tourist businesses suffered the most losses, alongside with the public entertainment sphere.

On March 22, a series of blasts hit Brussels Airport and a metro station located near the EU institutions in the center of the city, killing 32 and injuring over 300 people. The Islamic State

Brazil to minimize terrorist attack threat
Brazil is “not invulnerable” to terrorists, but is prepared to minimize the risk for the upcoming Rio Olympics, Brazilian Defense Minister Raul Jungmann said.

On Sunday, media reported that Brazilian authorities arrested the 12th suspect who was a part of a group allegedly planning to conduct terrorist attacks during the Olympics.

Brazil has to live with the “pervasive reality” of widespread terror threats, but serious preparations to counter attacks at the Olympics have been taken, Jungmann said at the Roda Viva talk show broadcast by the local TV Cultura on Monday.

He added that more than 80,000 servicemen would be deployed to ensure the safety and security of the Olympics.

Rio de Janeiro will host the Summer Olympic Games on August 5-21, 2016, and will become the first South American country to host the competition.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange rejects claims Russians hacked DNC
[Wash Times] Wikileaks founder Julian Assange denounced the Democratic Party’s claims that its emails were published as part of a Donald Trump-Vladimir Putin plot to make their party look bad, calling them both groundless and an attempt to create a distraction.

In an interview with NBC News, Mr. Assange said that while "we have not disclosed our source," he rebuffed claims of Russian involvement.

"Well there is no proof of that whatsoever," he said, going on to note the strong Democratic incentive to make "the story" something other than what’s in the emails.

"This is a diversion that’s being pushed by the Hillary Clinton campaign. That’s a meta-story. The real story is what these emails contain and they show collusion" by top party leaders to rig the presidential-primary process in favor of Mrs. Clinton, he said.

Racist DNC Email Flagrantly Makes Fun Of Black Woman's name
[Daily Caller] Democratic operatives made fun of a black woman's name in an email chain recently leaked by the website Wikileaks.

An email with Scott Comer, the finance chief of staff and LGBT finance director for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Zachary Allen with the firm TIPAH Consulting, makes fun of LaQueenia Gibson's name. Gibson is an executive assistant for the company Haddad Brands.

"LaQueenia is a NAME!" Allen wrote to Comer in May, 2016. "I'm sorry, boo. I hope you got a raise with this title."

Allen is a Democratic campaign consultant who has been paid thousands of dollars by the DNC. A Federal Election Commission (FEC) report for 2015 shows Allen was paid $10,500 for "Fundraising Consulting" in September, 2015. The email was reported earlier on Fox News host Sean Hannity's website.

#8  Gibson is a Scottish and English surname.[1] The name is derived from a patronymic form of the common mediaeval personal name Gib, which is a short form of Gilbert.[2] Variant forms of the surname include Gibsoun, Gipson, Gibbson, Gibbons, Gilson, Gibb, and Gibby amongst others.[citation needed]
The personal name Gilbert was introduced into Britain by followers of William the Conqueror after the Norman Invasion of 1066. The Norman name was originally found as Gislebert or Gillebert, and is composed of the Germanic elements Gisil, meaning "hostage" or "noble youth", and berht, meaning "bright" or "famous". Gilbert became a very popular given name in England during the Middle Ages.[3]

Bangladesh
Bangladeshi police kill nine Islamic State militants
Police in Bangladesh’s capital raided a five-story building Tuesday and killed nine suspected Islamic hard boys, the country’s police chief said.

Inspector General of Police A.K.M. Shahidul Hoque said the raid took place in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur area and one suspect was nabbed
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
and was being treated for injuries in a hospital.

Hoque said officials were investigating to see which group the men belonged to, but their clothing and other evidence showed it was likely that they belonged to local banned group Jumatul Mujahedeen Bangladesh, or JMB.

The group is blamed for a July 1 attack in Dhaka’s Gulshan diplomatic area, where 20 people, including Italians and Japanese, were killed when armed gunnies attacked a restaurant.

Hoque said the suspected Death Eaters were killed when police raided the building used as a den by the suspected Islamic hard boys.

He said the suspects attempted to flee the building by shooting their way out, but were stopped by police who cordoned off the area.

Explosive experts were searching the building, Hoque said.

"It will take a few hours to have a clear idea. But we have found them clad in black dress ... suggesting they belong to the same group involved in the attack in Gulshan," he said.

"We have not found any evidence about any connection with the IS. They are members of a local group, JMB, I think," he said.

Local media reported that the arrested man was being treated for bullet wounds.

group grabbed credit for the July 1 attack and for many other recent attacks on atheist bloggers, foreigners and minority groups, but authorities have rejected the claims, saying there are no signs of the group having any operations in the country.

Instead, the government says the local hard boy groups including the JMB are behind the attacks that have drawn global attention.

Facebook Admits to Censoring WikiLeaks DNC Links, Doesn't Say Why
[PJ] Despite famously swearing that they took a long, hard look at themselves and found no hint of bias, Zuckerberg and Co. still have a hard time hiding their agenda:
The 'Why' is quite obvious.
To be fair, Facebook wasn't the only major social media platform that seemed to be trying to provide cover for the Democrats yesterday.

Facebook has at least quickly, albeit rather cryptically, owned up to it.

Its chief security officer, Alex Stamos, tweeted that whatever was blocking WikiLeaks had been "fixed." That was it. The Next Web's Nate Swanner remains unsatisfied:

But we don’t know why Facebook took issue with the links. It’s possible its algorithm incorrectly identified them as malicious, but it’s another negative mark on the company’s record nonetheless. WikiLeaks is a known entity, not some torrent dumping ground.
Obviously they were 'Making Our World More Open.'
Previously, Facebook was discovered to have removed a Live video of Philando Castille dying, and posts of the Bastille Day aftermath were scrubbed from the newswire. Its news bar has also come under fire for being biased.

Facebook can call the issues disparate, but they’re not -- not to users. At some point, the ignorance and blind claims of ’damn that algorithm’ have to end. If Facebook wants us to turn to it for news and treat it seriously, then it has to be much more open.

The WikiLeaks link issue has reportedly been fixed, which is great -- but also not really the point. The fact links to the archive was blocked at all suggests there’s a very tight reign on what’s allowed on Facebook across the board, and that’s a problem.
'Tight reign on what's allowed' is it ?

Europe
Four terror attacks in one week in Germany
[SAT] Germany has been shaken by four attacks in a week, three of them by asylum seekers while two of them claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group. Heightened social insecurity prompts criticism again over the German government’s open-door refugee policies.

Calls for tougher control over refugees renewed after the Sunday explosion in Ansbach in the southern German state of Bavaria, killed the 27-year-old Syrian perpetrator himself and wounded 15 people.

The blast that took place at the entrance of an outdoor music festival was claimed by the IS again, following a July 18 axe attack by a 17-year-old Afghan refugee on a train near the southern city of Wurzburg, in which five people were injured and the attacker was shot dead by police.

Also on Sunday, hours before the Ansbach blast, a 21-year-old Syrian refugee killed a 45-year-old Polish woman with a machete in what the police said was a crime of passion in the southwestern city of Reutlingen.

A deadly shooting spree late Friday in Munich, with no link found with terrorism, killed nine innocents. The attacker, a German-born 18-year-old son of Iranian immigrants, shot himself dead.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
IOC totally rigged, throws runner Yuliya Stepanova under bus
[Guardian] Yuliya Stepanova, the whistleblower pivotal to the discovery of deep-rooted state-sponsored doping in Russia, has hit out angrily at the International Olympic Committee in the wake of its decision to ban her from competing in Rio.

It comes after the IOC provoked outrage from anti-doping organisations and athletes on Sunday when it decided against a blanket ban on Russian athletes despite an independent report that uncovered a state-run conspiracy across the majority of Olympic sports over five years.

Stepanova, an 800m runner, and her husband Vitaly, a former anti-doping official in Russia, have been widely praised for their bravery in speaking out. They originally approached the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2010 but were told it had no investigative powers. Eventually they took their story to investigative journalist Hajo Seppelt, whose explosive 2014 documentary set in motion the chain of events that led to Richard McLaren’s report into Russia’s state-sponsored doping programme.

Stepanova, who has fled Russia and is living in hiding in north America, had been cleared to enter the Olympics as a neutral athlete by the International Association of Athletics Federations but on Sunday the IOC ruled that any Russian athlete with a doping past, including Stepanova, would not be allowed to compete in Rio. It instead invited Stepanova and her husband to attend the Games as spectators, an offer they declined.
Hiding in North America might be better than attending the games. And stay away from the sushi...

Europe
Brexit - worth a read from the indispensible Dalrymple
[Liberty Law] No result of an election or referendum in Britain during my lifetime has produced such an excess of rhetoric among those on the losing side as that concerning Brexit. One survey found that nearly half of young people who voted for Britain to remain in Europe either cried or felt close to crying afterwards. This survey suggests either their depth of feeling or their emotional incontinence. I think the latter is probably the more accurate interpretation.

Certainly, many young people selectively interviewed by the media said that they felt that their future had been stolen from them by those who voted for Brexit. (The fact that the youth unemployment rate in Belgium and France was 25 percent, in Portugal 30 percent, in Italy 39 percent, in Spain 45 percent and Greece 49 percent did not seem to worry them. They were not of the youth-unemployment class.) And it was the old, who predominantly voted to leave, who had snatched their glorious future from them.

#2  There is no doubt that the campaign to leave the European Union appealed to xenophobes, and indeed that there have been xenophobic incidents since the referendum; but it is an elementary error of logic to argue that if xenophobes voted for leaving, then those who voted for leaving were xenophobes. The fact that so many commentators and supporters of Britain remaining in the European Union did make precisely this error suggests that education and the ability to think are not necessarily identical.

That'd leave a mark, if the intellectuals were patient enough to read the whole paragraph.

Egyptian policeman killed in a Sinai attack claimed by ISIS
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Egypt's interior ministry said a gunman rubbed out a police officer in north Sinai in an attack claimed on Monday by ISIS.

The gunman shot the police major in El-Arish, the bustling provincial capital of North Sinai, on Sunday night, the ministry said in a statement.

The murderous Moslem group's Egypt affiliate has been waging an insurgency in the peninsula that has killed hundreds of policeman and soldiers.

The group said in a statement circulated on social media that its fighters "assassinated" the major and made off with his car and automatic rifle.

The bandidos holy warriors have kept up the attacks in Sinai, mostly roadside kaboomings and ambushes, despite a massive military campaign to uproot ISIS from the eastern peninsula bordering Israel and the Paleostinian Gazoo Strip.

Most of the group's attacks have targeted security forces, but it has also attacked Egyptian Christians and tourists.

The group grabbed credit for bombing a Russian airliner carrying holiday makers from an Egyptian resort last year, killing all 224 people on board.

Kosovo seeks to expel Iranian suspected of backing terrorism
[IsraelTimes] Authorities suspend 5 Moslem organizations and ask to expel head of Shi’ite group for money-laundering and terror funding

Kosovo prosecutors have asked a court to expel an Iranian man from the country on charges related to money laundering and terrorism funding.
"Ask"? If he is a foreign national the country's executive has the right to toss him.
A statement from the special prosecutor’s office in Pristina says the Iranian was the head of a local Shiite group called Kur’ani.

The statement identified him only as H.A.B. and said he had not shown the sources and destination of hundreds of thousands of euros spent between 2005 and 2015. It said withdrawals from the bank account are much larger than the income from donations and that the Iranian has lied about the origin of donations.

Due to the investigation, authorities have suspended five Moslem organizations operating in the country. The statement didn’t give any more details about why they had been suspended.
An Nahar adds:
Kosovan authorities said Monday they had charged an Iranian man with "financing terrorism and money laundering" via an aid group he runs, alleging he received some 900,000 euros ($990,000) in undeclared cash between 2014 and 2015.

Officials did not name the man but local media identified him as Hasan Azari Bejandi, who runs the Qur'an NGO and oversees the activities of four other religious organizations suspected of having links to Tehran.

Kosovo newspaper Express reported the NGOs had been spreading anti-Western and anti-Semitic sentiment.

Caribbean-Latin America
Mexican Newspaper: Build a Trump-Style Wall with Central America
[BREITBART] One of the largest newspapers along Mexico’s border with Texas is calling for a border wall with Central America, similar to the one being promoted by Republican Presidential Candidate Donald J. Trump.

The editorial board of El Mañana, one of the largest newspapers in the border state of Tamaulipas, penned a piece called "Yes to the Border Wall ... but in Mexico’s South." The piece praises the idea of border wall, not on the border with Mexico, but on the border with Central America.

"Along the Mexican border peace and quiet came to an end, Central Americans played a large influence," El Mañana’s piece claimed.

The Mexican border newspaper provides a controversial view on the Border Wall; which is one of the main topics in Trump’s campaign.

"Mexico’s southeast has two borders; one with Guatemala and one with Belize, that do not provide any benefit, but on the contrary only problems are brought by these crossing points that are being used for the new invasion. The one use by Central American’s looking for a way into the United States. " El Mañana’s editorial board wrote.

One of the issues mentioned in the editorial piece points not only to the hordes of Guatemalans, Salvadorans and Hondurans that flock to Reynosa in an effort to get to the U.S., but also to the large number of Central Americans that are left in Mexico after deportation.

Once the illegal immigrants colonists are deported to Mexico instead of their country of origin, then Mexican officials simply leave them in Reynosa since the government lacks the funding to send them home.

According to El Mañana, illegal aliens left in the city are unable to find a place to stay since most shelters can only provide them with three days of food and bedding.

"Many of these migrants colonists when they are unable to find an honest way of life turn to robberies, kidnappings, extortion, and in the worst cases join the ranks of organized crime," El Mañana’s piece revealed.

FBI confirms investigating Hack into DNC computer network
On Monday, the FBI confirmed it was investigating a hack into the DNC, the first acknowledgment from the agency that they are probing the incident, which US officials suspect came from a Russian cyber attack.

"The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter," the agency said in a statement. "A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the FBI will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace."

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" Sunday about that "changes to the Republican platform to make it more pro-Russian," which could provide some of the motive behind the hacks.

Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., denied that his father's campaign had anything to do with encouraging Russians to hack the DNC.

James Trainor, assistant director for FBI's cyber division, told CNN in a recent interview that the bureau has been working with political organizations and think tanks to put more resources into the security of their computer networks. He wouldn't discuss the DNC or the role of Russia, but spoke generally about the increased number of such intrusions.

"There's been aggressive targeting of that sector, the various campaigns, think tanks in the Washington, DC area," Trainor said. "(The) targeting of any candidate or any party (that) has political intelligence. There's value in information there if you're a nation state actor, so (it) shouldn't be surprising."

The FBI and other US agencies involved haven't yet officially attributed the DNC attack to Russian government hackers. But evidence gathered by the FBI so far points to groups that are known to US counter-intelligence for carrying out intrusions for the Russian government, the officials briefed on the probe say. The release of the emails over the weekend, however, raised new questions among government and private sector security officials.

#11  I have been thinking about what would motivate the DNC email releases if it was the Russian SVR/GRU or some variant thereof serving Putin. I am of two minds:
1. They have the entire home server files and they contain connections between Hilda and the Foundation that are criminal and damning. They have threatened the release to gain power over the presumptive next President of the US to exert great influence for their benefit.
2. Putin really wants Trump to win and the release was to damage Hilda.

So what motive underlies either answer---NATO.
Geopolitically, Putin wants to reestablish the territory, prestige and influence of the former USSR but under the rubric of mother Russia and its new TSAR, himself. Consider that Hilda is feckless and corrupt, and thus can be made to lessen our support of NATO and fail to react to any Charter 5 violation. But equally, Trump and his "fair share" demand may well have the same effect as the weak sisters cannot divert money from their social programs to pay us for our military sustainment under a Trump administration.
While not sure which, I lean towards the former since Hilda is a known commodity and seen as utterly venal and cowardly, totally vulnerable to blackmail, not to mention the perversity of her jackass husband and the Huma connection.

Barzani: We’ve a choice, go backwards with status quo or march forward with independence
[RUDAW.NET] Kurdistan President Masoud Barzani has expressed his disappointment that a Kurdish delegation was not invited to the anti-Islamic State

summit in Washington last week and he reminded everyone the high price Kurdistan and Kurdish people have paid during the war with ISIS.

"The people of the Kurdistan Region have paid a heavy price in our ongoing war against the gunnies of the Islamic State. The Peshmerga forces with their bravery and sacrifices have drastically weakened the gunnies and have proven once again that they are an essential anti-terror force in the region," said Barzani in a statement published on his official Facebook page on Monday.

"In spite of this very obvious fact, the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs recently created obstacles for a Kurdish representative to be present in the last anti-Islamic State summit in Washington. Unfortunately the hosts of that summit went along with the Iraqi Foreign Minister," he continued.

Barzani said that the Kurdish people are in need of their own illusory sovereignty where they will be able to make their own decisions.

"This type of treatment cannot be accepted and we are indeed in need of our own illusory sovereignty where we are able to determine our fate," he added.

Barzani made it clear for the people of Kurdistan that now is time to make a decision and there is a choice to make, "The first of which is to accept the status quo where others determine our fate while we march backward. The other choice is to make a collective decision and take serious steps towards illusory sovereignty and independence."

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s representative in Washington, Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, was able to attend the conference at the last minute but the Region was unable to prepare a formal delegation.

Haqqani network commander dies
A commander of the notorious Haqqani terrorist network was killed during a clash in eastern Khost province of Afghanistan.

According to the local security officials, the commander was identified as Kernel and was involved in insurgency activities for the Haqqani terrorist network.

Provincial police chief Faizulllah Ghairat confirmed that Kernel was killed during a clash with the Afghan forces in Sapera district.

He said Kernel was originally a resident of Khost province and was involved in major destructive activities as he was fighting for the Haqqani network.

Ghairat further added that two companions of Kernel were wounded and another was arrested by the Afghan forces.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

The Haqqani terrorist network is accused of staging numerous cross-border attacks from their base in North Waziristan, including the 19-hour siege at the US Embassy in Kabul in September 2011.

Haqqani network was formed in the late 1970s by Jalaluddin Haqqani. The group is allied with al-Qaida and the Afghan Taliban and cooperates with other terrorist organizations in the region.

The US Department of State designated the HQN as a Foreign Terrorist Organization on September 7, 2012.
Yes, you read it correctly. The date was 7 Sept 2012. A most reluctant designation, I can assure you.

German police have 410 leads on possible terrorists among refugees
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Germany’s federal criminal police have 410 leads on possible gunnies among refugees in the country, a local newspaper reported on Monday.

The Neue Osnabruecker Zeitung newspaper said that compared with 369 leads in mid-May since the beginning of the migrant crisis last year.

Investigations have been launched in 60 cases, the newspaper said. It cited federal BKA police as saying they did not currently have any concrete indications of attack plans.

"In view of continuing migration to Germany we must assume that there could be active and former members, supporters and sympathizers of terrorist organizations or Islamist-motivated war criminals among the refugees," the newspaper quoted federal police as saying.

#2  A reminder:

The perpetrator of the Paris police station attack in January had 20 identities as a 'refugee.'

Last year, on multiple occasions, 'refugees' pulled emergency brakes of trains that were supposed to transport them to registration points.

On each occasion hundreds left the trains and vanished having avoided registration.

The German authorities in effect know nothing about these people but cannot admit this for reasons of political face saving.

The 'refugees' are a de facto unknown unknown.

The huge numbers pretty much guarantee that 1000s of terrorists and 10000s of brutal experienced killers who are veterans of the dirty and ugly conflicts of the islamic world have been entering Europe.

Nuts!

I didn't know that very useful fact. Thank you, Elmerert Hupens2660. But I do recall that at one point the number of migrants to Germany was estimated at 1.5 million. And another estimate that 6,000 trained jihadis came through from Syria alone.

#7  Here's a link to a German news report on an emergency stop of a 'refugee' train in November of 2015.

There was no discernible reason for pulling the brake, no fight or or any other disturbance.

A witness saw several people from the train enter two waiting cars that then drove to the nearby autobahn.

Since the 'refugees' had not yet been registered any estimate on how many left in total is guesswork.

Six booked for attacking anti-dengue team
[DAWN] RAWALPINDI: A day after local leaders of the ruling party and government officials held walks and seminars to observe the anti-dengue day, the police booked the chairman and vice-chairman of UC-7 and four other people on the charge of attacking an anti-dengue team on Sunday.

"The attackers thrashed me and tore my shirt. They deprived me of Rs2,000 and the CNIC and dragged me into Raja Fayyaz’s drawing room where I was detained for more than an hour and later forced into a patch-up," Mohammad Bilal, the sanitary inspector of the health department, Rawal Town, stated in an FIR registered with the Pirwadhai police.

He said he along with Amir Mehmood, Arif Masih, Malik Idris and others was on a routine visit of the Pirwadhai area during the ongoing anti-dengue campaign.

He said during the inspection of a milk shop and a barber shop, the team members observed dengue virus and collected samples from the water tank of the building.

As the team was preserving the water samples and taking photographs, the owners of the two shops along with seven to eight other people gathered there and started quarrelling with the team members.

group has been jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
at Sarajevo airport, media and police said on Monday.

The 19-year-old Bosnian, arrested Saturday after arriving on a flight from Istanbul, was sought by Bosnian authorities for "terrorism" and "organizing a terrorist group", border police said in a statement without elaborating.

Local media identified the man as Almir Dzimic and said he had joined IS in Syria in 2014. He had previously lived in a village near the northern Bosnian town of Maglaj, known as a stronghold of radical Islam, reports said.

About 40 percent of the Balkan country's 3.8 million people are Moslem. The rest are mainly Catholic or Orthodox Christian.

While the vast majority of Bosnian Moslems are moderates, radical Islam arrived during the country's inter-ethnic war in the 1990s via imported muscle who flocked from North Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

According to a study published last month, the flow of Bosnian jihadists to Syria and Iraq has almost stopped -- although nearly 200 of them are still there, including 60 minors.

Since 2012, 330 Bosnians have gone to the region to join jihad. Of the 188 men among them, at least 50 have been killed and 47 have returned to Bosnia, said the report by the Sarajevo-based think-tank Atlantic Initiative.

18 detained over sectarian violence in Beni Suef
No massacre yet...
[AlAhram] Egyptian prosecutors ordered the detention of 18 people in connection with sectarian violence that took place Friday in a village in Beni Suef, the latest in a series of such attacks in recent weeks.

The incident was sparked by a group of Moslem youngsters who hurled stones at a Christian-owned building in Al-Kharsa village after reports its owner would turn it into a church without a license. Security forces intervened to ease the situation and security cordons were put up around houses in the village.

Prosecutors Sunday ordered 18 people detained for four days over the violence, a judicial source said.

They face charges of "disrupting public peace and assaulting personal freedoms" and "damaging the house and a car of a Coptic villager."

A local housing committee ordered a halt to development work of the house of local Nnadi Yacoub, saying he violated the issued license.

Christians, who make up about 10 percent of Egypt's population of 90 million, have long complained of discrimination and sectarian attacks in the predominantly Sunni Moslem country.

The incident in Beni Suef is the latest in a wave of sectarian incidents in the country's south.

Last week, a Moslem mob stabbed a Coptic Christian to death during a street argument in the southern governorate of Minya.

The attack prompted President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to warn against attempts to "drive a wedge" between Egyptians and vowed to hold violations to account.

Days earlier, a group of Moslems attacked and torched houses of Christians in the village of Abu-Yacoub, also in Minya. The Family House, a group of Moslem and Christian leaders that promotes peaceful coexistence, said Saturday reconcilation was successfuly reached between warring families in that village, while settlement efforts continue elsewhere.

In May, Moslem villagers torched seven homes of Christians and assaulted a Christian man's elderly mother, parading her naked in public. The assault in Minya's El-Karm village was sparked by rumours that the man was having an illicit relationship with a Moslem woman.

That attack sparked public outcry and prompted El-Sisi to pledge action on sectarian incidents.

300 Migrant protesters nearing Hungary border
[AlAhram] Some 300 migrants colonists, the largest group in many months to try to march across Serbia into Hungary, were nearing the border on Sunday, the UN refugee agency said.

The group of mostly young men from Afghanistan and Pakistain had set off from Serbia's capital on Friday to protest against the closure of Hungary's border as well as tough new measures introduced this month to tighten border security.

The group reached the town of Subotica near the border on Sunday morning, continuing their march towards the frontier in early afternoon in the hope of gaining entry into the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
Serbia lies on the so-called Balkan route taken by hundreds of thousands of migrants colonists from the Middle East, Asia and Africa since last year on their way to western Europe.

Although the route was effectively shut down in March, migrants colonists have continued to cross the region in smaller numbers, often with the help of smugglers.

The migrants colonists began the 200 kilometre (120 mile) trek north escorted by a police car and carrying blankets and backpacks, many bearing the distinctive blue logo of the UN refugee agency (UNHCR).

Abdul Malik from Afghanistan had said the group was "going to Hungarian border" and was "gonna change something by walking and not eating."

Hungarian media quoted one of the marchers as saying he planned to stage a hunger strike at the border.

The number of migrants colonists blocked inside Serbia has grown significantly since Hungary introduced tough new measures this month to stop them crossing the border.

According to UNHCR in Serbia, up to 2,800 migrants colonists were in the country on Friday, mostly in makeshift along the Hungarian border.

Last weekend Belgrade decided to launch joint police and army patrols to beef up its borders.

Serbian authorities said recently that 102,000 migrants colonists had been registered since the start of the year -- more than 500 a day.

Duterte announces cease-fire with Maoist militants
[UPI] Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte declared an immediate cease-fire Monday in the government's 48-year battle with Maoist militants. During his first national address, he said, "To the (rebels), let us end these decades of ambuscades and skirmishes. We are going nowhere. And it is getting bloodier by the day."

"Let me make this appeal to you: If we cannot, as yet, love one another, then in God's name, let us not hate each other too much," Duterte said.

The Philippine government is preparing to resume official peace talks on August 20 in Oslo with the Communist Party of the Philippines, National Democratic Party and the armed New People's Army.

Duterte said, "We express our willingness to go to the negotiating table and yet we load our guns, fix our sights, pull the trigger. It is both ironic and tragic -- and it is endless. That is why, I reach out to you, to all of you today. To our Muslim brothers, let us end the centuries of mistrust and warfare."

Duterte's cease-fire doesn't include Abu Sayyaf. He has said he wants the Philippines' armed forces to "crush" the militant group.

"Dialogue between India and Pakistain is not possible in the present circumstances," said the defence minister during the Senate's defence committee session.

He maintained that India’s hostile behaviour towards Kashmire and Pakistain is an obstacle in carrying out smooth process of dialogue between the neighbourly countries.

The official Al-Ikhbariya television channel said at least one person was injured, while the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which also reported the car kaboom, spoke of casualties without giving details.

Afghanistan
ISIS loyalists release photos of Kabul attack suicide bombers
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The loyalists of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group have released photographs which purportedly shows the two jacket wallahs who attacked a mass demonstration in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
The photographs were released by the sympathizers of the terror group on Twitter social media a day after the attack left at least 80 people dead.

The two suicide bombers have been identified as Najibullah Al-Afghani and Talhat Al-Afghan, according to the caption of the photographs.

The incident in Deh Mazang area took place on Saturday afternoon as hundreds of thousands of demonstrators had gathered in the area to protest against a power project.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) released the casualties toll late on Saturday night hours after the incident took place.

According to MoI, at least 80 people bit the dust and 231 others sustained injuries in the attack.

The Taliban group rejected hand in the deadly attack and said the move was aimed at sparking tensions among the communities in the country.

This is the first time the loyalists of the terror group grabbed credit behind such a deadly attack in the capital city although assumptions are that the terror group is not capable to stage such a major attack in the city.

The claim by ISIS acknowleding responsibility behind the attack comes as the loyalists of the terror group have been attempting to expand foothold in the country but are mainly confined in the remote districts of eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province.

In the meantime the Afghan forces as well as the US forces in Afghanistan are regularly targeting the loyalists of the terror group in eastern Nangarhar province to root out their presence from the country.

Hezbollah popularity deflated 10 years after war
[Gulf News] On the tenth anniversary of the Leb War of 2006, many are asking how Hezbollah managed to survive, despite loud Israeli promises of bringing down the Iran-backed military group.

Some hoped that Hezbollah’s military intervention in Syria would achieve what 2006 failed to do: bleed the "party of God" to death and lead to its eventual demise.

On July 25, 2006, 10 years ago on this day, 140 rockets were fired at northern Israel by the Lebanese military group Hezbollah.

Poland arrests Iraqi man for possession of explosives
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Law enforcement officials in central Poland said Monday that a 48-year-old Iraqi man has been jugged

on charges of possessing explosives.

The arrest on Sunday in Lodz took place just days before Pope Francis comes to Poland to meet with hundreds of thousands of young people from around the globe for celebrations of the World Youth Day.

Poland’s Interior Minister Mariusz Blaszczak says the gathering will be safe.

Beata Marczak, spokeswoman for prosecutors in Lodz said that "small amounts of explosives, not sufficient to make an kaboom" were found on the man. He could face up to eight years in prison if convicted on charges of illegal possession of explosives.

The man was questioned in English and put under two months’ arrest, but there were "no grounds for allegations of terrorism," Marczak said.

The investigation is supervised by the Internal Security Agency, she said.

Lodz court front man Pawel Urbaniak earlier Monday said that the man’s identity is being investigated as he had "very basic" documents on him.
Fake Syrian passport with a Hungarian entry stamp?
The man has no permanent address in Poland.

Blaszczak says Border Guards have denied entry to some 200 people since July 4, when Poland introduced temporary border controls due to the world youth meeting and the NATO

summit that was held in Warsaw July 8-9.
Al Ahram adds:
Private news channel Polsat News reported that the explosive traces were found on the man's luggage and clothes at hotels in Lodz and Krakow. It added that the man had been detained at the hotel in Lodz on Sunday and had been in possession of notes on preparing terrorist acts against French supermarkets in Poland. Polsat News described him as a 48-year-old who arrived in Poland a couple of weeks ago after being expelled from Sweden. Earlier he had lived in Switzerland for several years.

Nusra Front split from al-Qaeda 'imminent,' sources claim
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] The Nusra Front will imminently announce an official split from al-Qaeda, several sources confirmed on Monday.

Opposition activists in southern Syria have told Middle East Eye that they expect the news to be announced very soon, with Arabic media reports suggesting that the group's leader Abu Mohammad al-Jolani will now make a very rare appearance to signal his independence from the murderous Moslem group.

Sources within Nusra, one of the most effective anti-government factions in Syria’s civil war, said that the new group would change its name to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham. They also stressed the group would lose access to al-Qaeda funds, although analysts have disputed the claims.

Mohammed Okda, an expert on Syrian issues who has been involved in negotiating with Syrian groups, told MEE that the money would keep flowing because the bulk of the group's funding came from private Gulf donors who would not abandon the Syrian cause as Nusra was unlikely to renounce its ideological heritage.

"Nusra is doing this to force the other rebel groups like Ahrar [al-Sham] and others into a corner, and push them into joining the new Shami front that Nusra will announce," Okda told MEE.
Clearly I lack the subtlety of the Levantine. How does breaking away from Al Qaeda force the other groups to join up?
"They might be severing relations with al-Qaeda as an organization," he said, adding that he knows both foreign and Arab al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front fighters.

"[But] they are not breaking up with the ideology of al-Qaeda. [They are] firm believer[s] of al-Qaeda ideology, and a firm believer of attacking the West. They have huge respect for [former leader Osama] Bin Laden. So the separation is not ideological, it's organizational."

Rumours of a split have been circulating since Saturday when Charles Lister, a Syrian analyst, tweeted that Nusra’s Shura Council had voted to sever its ties with al-Qaeda, although Nusra’s official media channels have yet to comment.

Air strikes, rebel fire kill 19 in Syria’s Aleppo
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Air strikes and barrel kabooms killed 16 civilians in rebel-held parts of Aleppo province on Monday, with rebel rocket fire onto government areas killing three more, a monitor said.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 10 civilians had been killed in multiple air strikes on the town of rebel-held Atareb in Aleppo province.

The group said the strikes in the early hours of Monday morning were believed to have been carried out by Russian warplanes, and hit several locations including a market area.

Russia is a key ally of the government and began air strikes in support of regime forces in September 2015.

The Observatory - which relies on a network of sources inside Syria for its information - says it determines what planes carried out raids according to their type, location, flight patterns and the munitions involved.

Footage obtained by AFP of the aftermath of the strikes showed the local civil defense unit trying to put out a fire in the rubble of one collapsed building.

Nearby, people combed through the debris trying to extract medicine from what appeared to be the remains of a pharmacy or clinic.

Elsewhere, crushed fruit and vegetables were mixed in with pieces of brick and concrete.

In Aleppo city meanwhile, at least six non-combatants were killed in barrel kabooms by government forces on eastern rebel-held neighborhoods, the Observatory said.

The monitor said the toll was expected to rise because of the number of people with injuries and still trapped under rubble.

An AFP journalist at the scene of one of the attacks in the Al-Mashhad neighborhood said civil defense workers were struggling to retrieve survivors who were trapped under heavy pieces of debris.

He said rescuers had managed to pull one boy alive from the rubble, but the rest of his family were dead and still trapped beneath the remains of a collapsed building.

Once Syria's economic powerhouse, Aleppo has been ravaged by the conflict that began in March 2011 with anti-government protests.

The city has been roughly divided between government control in the west and rebel control in the east since mid-2012.

In recent weeks, government forces seized parts of the only remaining supply route into the city's east, severing opposition neighborhoods from the outside world and prompting food shortages and spiraling prices.

The government regularly bombs the east of the city, and rebels often fire rockets into western districts.

The Observatory said at least three civilians had been killed in rebel fire on western Aleppo on Monday.

Syrian state news agency SANA said the dead were a pregnant woman and her child.

More than 280,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began, and more than half the country has been displaced.

Bavarian bomber pledged allegiance to Islamic State: minister
[REUTERS] The Syrian who went kaboom! in southern Germany, wounding 15 people, had pledged allegiance to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
on a video found on his mobile phone, the Bavarian Interior Minister said on Monday.

On searching the bomber's room, Nuremberg police found diesel, hydrochloric acid, alcohol, batteries, paint thinner and pebbles - the same materials used in the bomb - and computer images and film clips linked to the krazed killer group, they said.

"A provisional translation by an interpreter shows that he expressly announces, in the name of Allah, and testifying his allegiance to (Islamic State leader) His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
... an act of Dire Revenge against the Germans because they're getting in the way of Islam," Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann told a news conference.

"I think that after this video there's no doubt that the attack was a terrorist attack with an Islamist background."

Islamic State grabbed credit for the bombing, according to Amaq, a news agency that supports Islamic State.

Nuremberg police chief Roman Fertinger said the influence of Islamic State could be seen on the bomber's computer.

"There was also a laptop that showed pictures and film sequences that glorify violence and are unequivocally linked to Islamic State," he told a news conference.

The attack on Sunday, outside a music festival in Ansbach, a town of 40,000 people southwest of Nuremberg that has a U.S. Army base, was the fourth act of violence by men of Middle Eastern or Asian origin against German civilians in a week.

The 27-year-old arrived in Germany two years ago and claimed asylum, a federal interior ministry front man said. He had been in trouble with police repeatedly for drug-taking and other offences and had faced deportation to Bulgaria.

Five Saudi border guards killed in clashes in south
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Five Saudi border guards were killed on Monday in festivities with gangs seeking to enter from Yemen, state television

al-Ekhbariya reported, citing the Saudi interior ministry.

A ministry statement added the border guards detected attempts by "hostile" gangs to cross the border on several fronts in the southern region of Najran on Monday morning. Eight hours of festivities ensued.

The statement did not identify the gangs, but Saudi forces and fighters from Yemen’s Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. In a separate incident, the Saudi-led military coalition said an Apache helicopter crashed in the Yemeni city Marib, east of the capital Sanaa due to bad weather, state news agency SPA reported.

The pilot and co-pilot from the Saudi Royal land forces were killed, SPA added from the statement.

Dem officials jeered, booed at convention opening; DNC apologizes over emails
[FOXNEWS] A remarkable scene unfolded Monday at the kickoff of the Democratic National Convention as Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
supporters and other angry party members booed and jeered officials attempting to open proceedings ‐ leading the presiding officer to scold delegates, "We are all democrats,
That's the problem in a nutshell. They aren't supposed to be democrats, but Democrats. Though that the journalist heard the lack of a capital in all that noise is impressive, indeed.
and we need to act like it."
"So getcher hand in that till and get my nephew a paying job on some committee!"
The opening made clear that the party is far from united, despite the new DNC leadership offering an official apology to Sanders and the party just as the convention was getting underway for what it called "the inexcusable remarks made over email" by brass hats that seemed to show a bias against Sanders.
They got Stephanie Rawlins Blake, the mayor of Baldymore, to open the festivities. She's the one who told the cops to stand down and let the rioters riot during the Freddie Gray drama.
The statement from incoming party leader, Donna Brazile, and six other officials, offered a "deep and sincere apology" and said the emails, leaked by WikiLeaks, "do not reflect the values of the DNC or our steadfast commitment to neutrality during the nominating process."

The written statement also said the party will not tolerate disrespectful language.

But despite outgoing DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz resigning in the wake of the scandal, apparent Sanders supporters caused a ruckus inside the convention hall, leading some speakers to plead with the crowd to unite behind Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Daniel Webster ...
As Rep. Marcia Fudge tried to preside, boos and chants broke out, particularly whenever Clinton’s name was mentioned.

#2  SMH, what are they apologizing for? Writing the e-mails? Thinking the thoughts written down? Getting caught?

It's one thing to blurt something out in a surfeit of emotion, but, carrying on a conversation via the written word is a different kettle of ball park.

These people are simply slimy pond scum with out the redeeming features.

“This heinous crime comes after preparations to liberate Mosul from ISIS control is almost completed,” Sabawi added.

Libyan Forces Advance in Islamic State-Held City

has held for 16 months.

Sirte is the Death Eater group’s most important base outside its strongholds in Syria and Iraq, and its fighters have put up stiff resistance since the initial drive by government-allied forces into the city in late May.

But Libyan commanders said Monday they had shrunk Islamic State’s area of control around Sirte, the birthplace of late dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
, from 150 miles of coastline to just two square miles in the city center. U.S. and Libyan intelligence officials earlier this year estimated some 5,000 murderous Moslems were inside Sirte, though they say the number has dwindled.

"We’re slowly tightening our grip on them," a senior Libyan officer said.

The security headquarters in Sirte is a complex in a part of the city that the forces backing the government have been trying to enter for weeks.

Islamic State leaders have promoted Sirte as a destination for foreign recruits, urging migration to the city to bolster its presence there.

As recently as May, U.S. military commanders considered an air campaign against Islamic State targets in Libya. They were concerned the group was preparing to stage attacks from the North African country to counter the increasing military pressure on cities it controls in Iraq and Syria.

Pakistain Ulema Council chairman Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said this while talking to media persons at Allama Iqbal International Airport before his departure to Dubai here on Sunday.

Extremist and terrorist organizations are indiscriminately killing innocent people in Syria and Iraq without any distinction of religion and sect, he told a questioner.

He also categorically said that until and unless burning issues of Paleostine, Kashmire, Syria and Iraq are not resolved, peace could not be restored in the world.

Condemning the recent killings in La Belle France and Germany as sheer barbarism, he said terrorism and extremism should not be associated to any particular religion and piece of land as it had emerged as a global issue.

"No one becomes representative of any particular religion by employing name-code of that religion."

He argued that those who attempted to attack Masjid-e-Nabvi could not be considered as faithfuls. "Terrorists are simply enemies of peace and mankind and peaceful forces of the world should get united against them," he added.

Police Arrest Last Suspect from Brazil Olympics Attack Group
I know we all are relieved that the amateurs have been cleared from the field.
[AnNahar] Brazilian police Sunday tossed in the calaboose
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
the last remaining member of what authorities have called an "amateur" IS-linked group preparing attacks ahead of the Rio Olympics.

The other 11 members were arrested Thursday through Friday and have been transferred to a maximum security prison near the border with Paraguay, officials said.

The group is alleged to have attempted to form an hard boy cell called Defenders of Sharia, of which several members had sworn loyalty to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group. They were allegedly preparing attacks and had attempted to make contact online with an arms dealer in Paraguay to buy an AK-47 assault rifle.

Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes, however, has said the members were "absolutely amateur" and "disorganized." He also said they had no specific targets.

The final member, who will be sent to federal prison, was located by military police in Comodoro, a city in the western state of Mato Grosso, officials said in a statement.

Members of the group lived in various locations across Brazil and their contact had been limited mostly to exchanging messages on the WhatsApp and Telegram mobile services.

The detainees are accused of giving themselves Arabic names and praising the recent massacre of 49 people at a gay nightclub in Florida by a man who pledged loyalty to the IS group.

Last week, Brazil said it was bolstering security for the August 5-21 Olympics following the truck attack in the French city of Nice, which killed 84 people and left scores badly maimed. The attack has been claimed by IS.

Brazil's Olympics security plan calls for the mobilization of some 85,000 members of the security forces.

Leaked DNC Documents Show Plans To Reward Big Donors With Federal Appointments
[DAILYCALLER] Democratic National Committee documents recently released by WikiLeaks include spreadsheets and emails that appear to show party officials planning which donors and prominent fundraisers to provide with appointments to federal boards and commissions.

The documents, which were circulated among top DNC officials in April, could raise legal questions for the party, says Ken Boehm, the chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group.

"The disclosed DNC emails sure look like the potential Clinton Administration has intertwined the appointments to federal government boards and commissions with the political and fund raising operations of the Democratic Party," Boehm told The Daily Caller.

"That is unethical, if not illegal."

Afghanistan
Afghanistan likely to ask India for delivery of more gunships
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan defense authorities are likely to seek more delivery of Mi-25 gunship helicopters from India as the Afghan government has stepped up efforts to increase the capabilities of the Afghan Air Force.

According to local media reports in India, the Army chief General Qadam Shah Shahim is expected to visit India next month to meet Indian officials and hand over a revised wish list to the Indian authorities.

The Afghan Ambassador to India Shaida Abdali has confirmed to the local The Hindu newspaper regarding Gen. Shahim’s visit to India.

"Obviously, the Army Chief will be here to discuss defence cooperation. India has agreed that it will help with some of the other defence equipment that we have requested. It has also agreed to give us more helicopters, so we are looking into other avenues as well, to help Afghanistan in the defence sector," Abdali said.

According to the paper, India had apprehensions about transferring offensive weaponry and had held off those requests. That changed with the Narendra Modi government’s decision to supply four attack Mi25 helicopters in December last year ahead of Mr. Modi’s visit to Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan.

"There is a perception [in Afghanistan] that India may not go that far when it comes to Afghanistan’s quest for certain things including defence," Mr. Abdali said.

"To be frank, at times requests have been delayed for too long, and then ultimately some perception was created that India doesn’t do it [because of] neighbours like Pakistain, and I hope that this perception is addressed by the cooperation between our two governments in various fields, including defence cooperation," he said.

The need for Afghanistan and India to cooperate despite Pakistain’s misgivings about the relationship is a key theme in a book authored by the Afghan Ambassador, Pakistain-Afghanistan-India: a paradigm shift, which was launched in Delhi recently.

This comes as the Afghan national security adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar is in Russia to discuss the procurement and delivery of Mi-35 gunship and Mi-17 helicopters to the Afghan armed forces.

Mob lynches ‘robber’ who shot dead man
Actually, the guy was alive when he shot him, but not after. It's one of those South Asian idioms
[DAWN] KARACHI: An angry mob lynched a suspected robber after he rubbed out a man when he put up resistance to an attempt to rob him in New Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
early on Sunday morning, Bilal Colony police said.

They added that two suspected robbers intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Javed Siddique near Dua Chowk in Sector 5-D, New Karachi, and tried to rob him. As he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

The incident enraged area residents, who caught hold of one of the suspects and subjected him to severe beating.

Police said that they rescued the seriously maimed suspect from the angry crowd and shifted him to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, but he died from the wounds.

Police said the victim, Javed, was on his way to attend a marriage ceremony of a friend in the area when he was bumped off by the robbers. The victim’s maternal uncle took away the body for burial saying the family would lodge an FIR later.

A police official at the Bilal Colony cop shoppe said that so far no case had been registered against the mob for lynching the suspected robber.

Qandeel's cousin turns himself in for police investigation
[DAWN] A cousin of slain social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch turned himself in to police on Monday for investigation.

A senior police officer speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
told Dawn.com that Haq Nawaz turned himself in to police at the Kala cop shoppe in Dera Ghazi Khan as authorities suspected his involvement in the murder.

Qandeel's brother, Waseem, in his confession claimed to have acted alone and said he had drugged and strangled his sister. Police were, however, looking to investigate Haq Nawaz and his possible involvement in the murder, the police officer said.

Police also made Waseem take a polygraph and DNA tests at a forensic lab in Lahore on Friday.

Qandeel Baloch was strangled to death in her house in Multan's Karimabad area earlier this month. Her father claimed she was killed by her younger brother, Waseem, for honour.

The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, military sources said on Monday.

The festivities began on Thursday when government forces launched an offensive aimed at retaking the towns of Haradh and Midi in Hajja province on the border.

"At least 48 (Shiite Houthi) rebels and forces loyal to (ex-president) President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh

Thirty-four loyalist soldiers were also killed, a pro-government source said.

Most of the soldiers were killed in kabooms of landmines planted by the rebels, he said, adding that dozens were maimed on both sides.

Loyalist forces had succeeded in retaking a border post at the entrance of Haradh and pushing towards the town centre, another military source said.

The offensive aims to advance on rebel-held Sanaa from the west after loyalist forces have so far failed to enter the capital from the east.

It comes as the Yemeni rivals hold UN-brokered peace talks in Kuwait that have so far failed to end the conflict that has killed more than 6,400 people since March last year.

Yemeni loyalists are supported by a Saudi-led coalition that has been battling the Iran-backed rebels since March 2015.

Thai school seized for ties to insurgency
[The Nation] Islam Burapa Islamic School in Narathiwat province is to be seized after a Thai court judged the school had been used to support the insurgency in the far South. The Anti-Money Laundering Office claimed that the school used its land to encourage and train young people to act against the authorities.

On Saturday Maj General Chinwat Mandej, 4th Army Area deputy commander, said, "I know it is a very sensitive issue and affects the people's feelings about confiscating the school; but we have to because the school was used to support terrorism."

Chinwat added that the school would still be allowed to operate until the lawsuit was finalized to avoid an impact on the students and their families.

The school was targeted to be a training camp for insurgents who sought independence for five southern provinces. Police arrested seven people and seized firearms and explosive devices inside the school in 2007.

Harvard law professor: criticism of Mosby over Gray trials is 'wholly unfounded'
[BALTIMORESUN] A threatened ethics probe and sharp criticism from elites who rarely experience the criminal justice system is a naked attempt to bully a chief prosecutorial officer into treating certain accused lawbreakers different from others. Indeed, distilled to its essence, the complaint against Ms. Mosby is that she demonstrates fidelity to the principle that no man is above the law. Her detractors would have it that poor blacks are charged when a grand jury finds probable cause, but not for officers.

It is equally clear that Ms. Mosby's detractors are not making a broader claim about prosecutorial discretion in the criminal justice system. Those speaking loudest and filing specious complaints curiously have been deafeningly silent when it comes to decisions that the same grand jury has made about other Baltimore citizens. The absence of outrage on behalf of everyday citizens exposes the logical consequences of their arguments: Two sets of laws for the people of Baltimore. If this is true, what are we to make of the recommendation of the FBI head with regard to prosecution of Ms. Clinton?

He made clear that the probable cause criterion was definitely met- he stated that she had committed several felonies. Yet he recommended not even having a prosecutor consider the convening of a grand jury.

His sin must therefore be an order of magnitude greater than that advocating that police officers should not be prosecuted when no evidence is to be presented that a crime was committed. (according to the presiding judge)

In a rare move, pro-government channels broadcast a live speech from the podium by main opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

"This is a day to unite, a day to stand up against coups and dictatorial regimes, a day to let the voice of the people be heard," he said at the rally, organized by his secularist opposition CHP but also backed by the ruling Islamist-rooted AK Party and by other opposition groups.

"We are all together in Taksim today. Today is a day we made history all together."

In another demonstration of unity after the coup, which was staged by a faction within the armed forces, the head of Turkey’s air force issued a rare statement stressing "absolute obedience" to the chief of the military General Staff. Some members of the air force were involved in the coup.

The chief of the military General Staff, Hulusi Akar, who was held hostage by the plotters on the night of July 15, condemned the plotters on Sunday as "cowards in uniform" who had greatly harmed the nation and the army.

Erdogan, who narrowly escaped capture and possible death during the attempted coup, has declared a state of emergency, allowing him to sign laws without prior parliamentary approval in a drive to root out supporters of the coup.

His critics fear he is using the abortive coup to wage an indiscriminate crackdown on dissent. Turkish authorities have suspended, detained or placed under investigation more than 60,000 soldiers, police, judges, teachers, civil servants and others in the past week.

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Saturday authorities had taken around 13,000 people into custody over the coup attempt, including 8,831 soldiers. He pledged they would have a fair trial.

Rights group Amnesia Amnesty International said it had received credible evidence of detainees being subjected to beatings and torture, including rape, since the coup attempt.

"It is absolutely imperative that the Turkish authorities halt these abhorrent practices and allow international monitors to visit all these detainees in the places they are being held," said Amnesty’s Europe director John Dalhuisen in a statement.

Turkish airlines says terminates contracts of 211 employees after failed coup attempt

[AlAhram] Turkey's state-run Turkish Airlines said on Monday it had fired 211 employees, citing their links to a religious movement President Tayyip Erdogan has blamed for the failed attempt to overthrow the government on July 15.

In a statement, the airline said the employees' contracts were terminated due to operational necessity, inefficiency, poor performance as well as providing support to the movement of U.S.- based cleric Fethullah Gulen.

Iraq
Suicide bomber kills 10 people north of Baghdad
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A jacket wallah detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle near a checkpoint north of Baghdad on Monday, killing 10 people, officials said.

The blast at the entrance to the town of Khales also maimed 36 people, according to Hassan al-Mamuri, the local official responsible for the area, and Faris al-Azzawi, the front man for the Diyala province health department.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but ISIS carries out frequent suicide kabooms in Iraq.

The blast came a day after a suicide kaboom claimed by ISIS killed at least 15 people in Baghdad's Kadhimiyah neighborhood.

ISIS overran large areas north and west of Baghdad in 2014, but Iraqi forces have since regained significant ground and are conducting operations to set the stage for the battle to recapture djinn-infested Mosul

The Death Eaters have responded to the battlefield setbacks by striking civilians, and experts have warned there may be more such attacks as the Death Eaters continue to lose ground.
