#7  A woman will always accept gifts from an unwanted suitor.

Such cynical white knighting, Mr. McCoy. A woman may behave so. A lady never accepts gifts from an unwanted suitor; among other things, it encourages them to continue their suit in hopes of success instead of wandering off in search of someone who actually likes them, and interfering with time spent more enjoyably with desirable suitors.

But then, psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and narcissism are not ladylike.

Men only date women for other nourishment.

Ultimately, of course. But that is true of both partners in the transaction, to get all economist about it. One hopes the goal is more than a mere roll in the hay, for which, is one is only the slightest bit clever, one needn’t pay anything at all. There is the risk that this will turn out to have been the price a psychopathic/narcissistic/Machiavellian woman was willing to pay to force a romantic relationship — the flip side of that unrequited dinner tab. Perhaps that question can be explored in a future study.

Women's Olympic Champion Caster Semenya Is ‘Biologically Male,' IAAF Says
[Daily Caller] Women’s Olympic champion Caster Semenya is a biological male, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the world’s largest sports governing body, argued in court.

Semenya, the South African runner who dominated the female competition in the women’s 800M at the 2016 London Olympics, is fighting an IAAF requirement that biologically male runners suppress their testosterone below a certain level in order to compete in female events.

Media reporting on the subject has often left out the fact that the IAAF’s rule only applies to runners with male chromosomes rather than female runners with high testosterone levels.

The IAAF called the requirement "an extremely progressive compromise" between protecting the integrity of women’s sports and accommodating "certain biologically male athletes with female gender identities" like Semenya who want to compete in women’s sports, the court documents show.

The IAAF added that "there are some contexts where biology has to trump identity."

#5  Semenya started winning big time in 2009 when in one year (her 18th) 'she' improved by 7 seconds in the 800m.

This is a difficult case. She has identified as a girl since childhood unlike some American runners who only identified as female a year before entering contests.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Airlines Worldwide React to the U.S. Ban on Iranian Airspace
[Fortune] Early Friday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration banned all U.S.-registered aircraft from flying over Iranian airspace, and airlines worldwide are following the guidance.

The FAA warned of a "potential for miscalculation or misidentification" in the region after an Iranian surface-to-air missile on Thursday brought down an unmanned U.S. drone with a wingspan larger than a Boeing 737 jetliner.

Iran said the drone "violated" its territorial airspace, while the U.S. called the missile fire "an unprovoked attack" in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf.

There are "heightened military activities and increased political tensions in the region, which present an inadvertent risk to U.S. civil aviation operations and potential for miscalculation or misidentification," the FAA said.

The Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman are crucial areas for international air travel, and many global airlines are following the U.S. safety advice.

Lufthansa, Germany’s largest airline, said it had been avoiding the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman since Thursday, but that it would continue to operate its flights to Tehran.

Dutch carrier KLM also said it would avoid the strait, calling the move a "precautionary measure," according to the Associated Press.

More likely a planned execution of hundreds of innocent civilian international air travelers by Iran, to be blamed on Trump.

#3  Yes Mike, I can almost see someone handing the Orange Man an intercept along with the discreet verbal caution; "hey boss, perhaps we might wish hold off just a bit".

No sense giving the SOB's another Vincennes incident on the run-up to the election. The downing of a couple of European airliners by "unknown persons" would have been a severe blow and one the Iranians would have celebrated wildly as a strategic wedge. 'Human shields'...not exactly a new concept in that region of the world. The loss of life would have obviously meant nothing.

The dems are already labeling him 'wishy washy' and a coward. Think of the political mileage the dems would have harvested had something gone terribly wrong.

Posted by: Besoeker || 06/22/2019 7:28 Comments || Top||

#4  The Dems don't realize several things.

1) The "FOS" (fly over states) don't want a war.
2) The FOS understand nuanced explanations about proportionality and can figure out what they mean by who said them.
3) The FOS know an election trick when they smell one.

So, calling Trump a coward won't wash.

#6  What I don't understand is how a 180 million dollars drone doesn't have any defensive capabilities.

180 million dollars is a lot to spend on what is basically a remote controlled airplane with a camera.
Posted by: Seeking Cure For Ignorance || 06/22/2019 10:58 Comments || Top||

#7  #6 yes, it seems so careless. International airspace in the Strait of Hormuz is no safe zone. I would hope or assume a manned craft would have some added security assistance. They would love a hostage situation. Imagine that if Obama were still in. Carter number two. October surprise perhaps developing.
Posted by: Dale || 06/22/2019 12:27 Comments || Top||

#8  180 million dollars is a lot to spend on what is basically a remote controlled airplane with a camera.

It's a purpose-built device - slow, steady, with an expensive as heck suite of cameras and sensors. The operational question, IMHO, is why it doesn't fly with some air-defense pals - purpose-built drones that are fast, maneuverable and highly lethal to flying things.
Posted by: SteveS || 06/22/2019 13:29 Comments || Top||

#9  It was built mostly to do what PBYs dis during WW II - fly long missions to spot enemy warships at sea. Of course, now it can have sensors that allow for other activities as well. The fact that it is designed to work with P-8s speaks to its primary mission.

19 year old fella goes on rampage at Sky Harbor Airport
[NBC] Newly released surveillance shows the moment a 19-year-old man bum-rushes a security checkpoint and attacks Transportation Security Administration agents at a Phoenix airport earlier in the week.

Tyrese Roshawn Garner was arrested Tuesday on charges of felony trespassing, resisting arrest, and five counts of misdemeanor assault after he allegedly injured several agents in Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

"This unprovoked and brazen physical attack against our TSOs is unacceptable," the agency said in a statement. "We are grateful for our committed workforce and for the role they play in protecting the traveling public every day."

Saudi Arabia named full member of anti-illicit funding body
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
has been granted full membership of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global body dedicated to fighting illicit money flows, Saudi Arabia’s monetary authority said on Friday.

The Kingdom’s accession will be a boost to its standing with foreign investors.

"The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Plenary Meeting, which was concluded on Friday, 21 June 2016, in Orlando, USA, granted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia full Membership of the group," the authority said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia is the first Arab country to obtain membership, the statement added.

Report: US to target 2,000 migrant families on Sunday
[DW] US immigration agents under the administration of President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
are set to launch a massive crackdown on migrant families this weekend. Unnamed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials told The Washington Post that on Sunday the agency plans to target some 2,000 families who recently arrived in the country illegally.
Heads up, guys: take yourselves away in an orderly manner before you get caught and thrown out with only the clothes on your back.
Earlier this week, ICE acting Director Mark Morgan had told news hounds that such an operation would soon take place, but had not specified when.

According to the newspaper, the raids will target 10 cities including Houston, reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
, Miami, and Los Angeles.

The order to conduct what is being called the "family op" reportedly came directly from the White House, whereas the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had asked for authorities to find only about 150 families who had been given attorney but "dropped out of the legal process and absconded."

DHS acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan had voiced concerns that moving to arrest so many families would separate many children from their parents, as they could be at childcare programs or visiting others during the summer school vacation.

The explosion hit the Imam Mahdi al-Muntadhar mosque in Baladiyat neighbourhood during Friday prayers, near the massive and densely-populated district of Sadr City.

The attacker was wearing an explosive-laden belt targetting the mosque, Police Captain Ahmed Khalaf told Anadolu Agency.

He said 10 people were killed and dozens maimed, while other news agencies' reports quoting unidentified security sources put the corpse count to at least seven.

Pentagon secretly struck back against Iranian cyberspies targeting U.S. ships
[Yahoo] On Thursday evening, U.S. Cyber Command launched a retaliatory digital strike against an Iranian spy group that supported last week’s limpet mine attacks on fat merchantmen, according to two former intelligence officials.

The group, which has ties to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, has over the past several years digitally tracked and targeted military and civilian ships passing through the economically important Strait of Hormuz, through which pass 17.4 million barrels of oil per day. Those capabilities, which have advanced over time, enabled attacks on vessels in the region for several years.

Though sources declined to provide any further details of the retaliatory cyber operation, the response highlights how the Persian Gulf has become a staging ground for escalating digital ‐ as well as conventional ‐ conflict, with both the United States and Iran

2. She ran into Trump at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan while they were both shopping. Trump asked her for advice on buying a piece of lingerie for an unnamed woman. (Trump doesn't strike me as a shopper; he might have an asst. do this for him)

India-Pakistan
Pakistan to set up special courts to tackle violence against women
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Pakistain is to set up more than 1,000 courts dedicated to tackling violence against women, the country’s top judge announced on Wednesday, seeking to tackle a problem activists say the criminal justice system has long neglected.

Asif Saeed Khosa said the special courts would allow victims to speak out without fear of retaliation in the conservative Moslem country, where domestic violence is often seen as taboo.

Pakistain sees thousands of cases of violence against women every year, from rape and acid attacks to sexual assault, kidnappings and so-called honor killings.

"We are going to have 1,016 gender-based violence courts across Pakistain, at least one such court apiece in every district," Khosa said in an address to fellow judges broadcast on national television.

"The atmosphere of these courts will be different from other courts so that complainants can speak their heart without any fear," he said.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistain, an independent watchdog, reported at least 845 incidents of sexual violence against women in its 2018 report.

There were no comparative figures and the Commission had previously said violence against women went largely unreported, particularly in rural areas, where poverty and stigma prevented victims from speaking out.

The country was ranked sixth most dangerous for women in a Thomson Rooters Foundation a survey of global experts last year.

The new courts will operate in existing courthouses, but will hold domestic violence hearings separately from other cases to enable victims to testify in confidence.

A pilot court of this kind was opened in 2017 in Punjab, Pakistain’s most populous province.

#3  Interesting bit of news. According to the pakistani bureaucratic grapevine, the PM elect is a whippeddoting husband, and his current wife is also his 'spiritual mentor'.

Bushra Bibi was a known brujafaith healer and spiritualist, treating and counseling Imran Khan through a tumultuous time in his previous marriage and the elections. It is said that she dictates many of his domestic policies and does not like her inputs being undervalued.

Sources in the 'Stain also stake their hard earned ill-repute on the information that Bushra Maneka Khan is an avid practitioner of the black arts and herself claims to be in control of djinns (yupp!). She went by the name of Pinky Pir(seer) before her marriage, and aided her murid (follower) Imran Khan in his rise in pak politics. He is also supposed to wear clothes and amulets selected and blessed by her everyday. And there's a special wall in her house through which she consults the djinn.

Truth is she's a fundamentalist with a difference. She seeks to bring women's liberation to pakistain and increase participation in legislation for women. Also, a number of measures are being taken against patriarchal islamist committees and mullah groups that have so far lorded it over women in the 'Stain. Reporting and accounting of police failures in rape and acid attack cases has also increased considerably. There is an unsaid rule to deal severely with men arrested for sexual or dowry violence. I think it could all be coming from the Pak first lady herself.

The West Coast is running out of space to put dead whales
[NYPOST] So many gray whales are washing up on the U.S. West Coast that the federal agency that deals with the rotting carcasses is running out of places to put them while they decompose.

NOAA Fisheries is asking those with private, isolated beachfront property to "host" a rotting whale because space is running out on public land.

So far, about 160 gray whales have washed up this year from Mexico to Canada.

Eighty-one of those died between Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, and Alaska.

U.S. scientists last month declared the die-off an "unusual mortality event," a designation that triggers additional resources and launches an investigation into possible causes.

The first couple to volunteer their private beach received the carcass of an adult male gray whale that died of starvation.

Even though whales have been dying in the ocean ever since they wriggled back into the water, the ocean lacks the proper regulatory infrastructure - EPA bureaucrats, regulators, inspectors, PowerPoint slides and civil service jobs. Europe
Sweden Opens Door to Increased Chain Migration
[BREITBART] The Swedish parliament, the Riksdag, has voted in favour of making it easier for Syrian migrants colonists and refugees to bring family members to the country, with only two parties voting against the proposal.

All of the parties in the Riksdag voted for the measure except for the centre-right Moderates and the populist Sweden Democrats (SD).

The two parties also voted against the so-called "high school law" which has allowed thousands of Afghan migrants colonists to remain in the country, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.

Along with making "family reunifications" for Syrians easier, the Riksdag voted to extend a temporary residency permits order which was enacted during the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.

The Left party opposed the extension of the order ‐ but only so it could argue that Sweden should return to an even more lax asylum policy, as was the case prior to the 2015 crisis.

Iraq
US said readying to evacuate contractors from Iraqi base due to security threat UPDATE: US, Iraq deny
More on this from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] US forces are preparing to evacuate nearly 400 contractors from the Balad military base over "potential security threats," three Iraqi military sources told the Rooters news agency on Friday.

The staff are working for Lockheed Martin Corp and Sallyport Global at the air base which houses US forces some 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad.

The sources did not give any further details about the security threats but said around half of the 800 contractors on site would be evacuated, with one saying the operation would take 10 days.

Two other military sources said the evacuation would use military aircraft.

US assets in Iraq have been targeted frequently over the past week amid a tense standoff between Baghdad’s key allies, Washington and Tehran.

Updates at 2:10 p.m. EDT:
US military denies evacuation of contractors from Iraq’s Balad Air Base

[Rudaw] Media claims that US contractors at Iraq’s Balad Air Base are being evacuated following recent mortar attacks are “categorically false”, a US military official said Saturday.

“Operations at Balad Air Base are continuing as normal. Claims that personnel are being evacuated are categorically false. There are no plans at this time to evacuate any personnel from Balad,” said US Air Force Colonel Kevin Walker in a statement.

“The safety and security of all Air Force personnel and those that provide services to the US Air Force are constantly evaluated, and should there be increased threats to our people, the US Air Force will put measures in place to provide the protections required,” Walker added.

“We are not evacuating Lockheed Martin employees right now from Balad Air Base,” a spokeswoman for Lockheed in the Middle East told Reuters. She did not say whether other evacuations were planned.

A top Iraqi air force commander, Gen. Falah Fares, told AP security has been stepped up and a curfew imposed at the base to reduce “all unnecessary movements”.

The mortar attack on Balad Air Base was followed on June 18 by a strike on Taji Military Base, which also hosts US personnel. Three Katyusha missiles struck the base, 85 km north of Baghdad, which is home to Iraq’s US-made F-16 fighter jets.

On May 19, a Katyusha rocket also struck Baghdad’s Green Zone, which houses the Iraqi parliament and the sprawling US Embassy compound.

Basra oil installations used by US oil giant ExxonMobil also come under rocket fire on June 19, injuring three Iraqi workers.

Several foreign ExxonMobil engineers were evacuated in May.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Iran-backed Shiite militias are thought to be the culprits.

The US has already announced the evacuation all non-emergency staff from its diplomatic missions in Baghdad and Erbil in response to an unspecified Iranian threat.

Iraq denies evacuation of American trainers from Baghdad air base

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi authorities denied on Saturday media reports that American trainers would be evacuated from an air base, north of the capital, Baghdad, over potential security threats.

In a press statement, Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool, spokesman for the Joint Operations Command, stressed that all reports circulated on social media websites about the evacuation of U.S. contractors and security advisers from the Balad Air Base in Baghdad are “groundless”.

Rasool further added that Iraqi troops are responsible for “protecting all (U.S.) military bases and maintaining the safety of advisers.”

“We protect Iraqi military bases to ensure the safety of our fighters, as well as the safety of U.S. advisers and trainers, and other coalition forces,” the spokesman added.

Libya Grand Mufti calls for public support to GNA
[Libya Observer] Libyan Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq al-Ghariani

has called on citizens to stand with the Government of National Accord (GNA), and on the government to carry out its duties and support the war-maimed and battlefronts with all the means available.

"The government should integrate with its people and not accept any compliment at the expense of the national interest," Sheikh al-Gharyani said.

On his weekly program, Islam and life, on Tanasuh TV channel, on Wednesday, the Grand Mufti called the government to benefit from the wide public support they received for standing against Haftar's aggression on Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and not to succumb to the international community because its intervention has no limit.

He also urged all categories of the society and the battlefronts to unite strongly behind the GNA, saying "It is the legitimate cover for our fight against the aggressors."

The Mufti called for a Libyan-Libyan initiative to resolve the current crisis in the country, stressing that the international community role should be restricted merely to the process of observation.

Thousands of Malians demonstrate to demand end to massacres
[Al Jazeera] Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Mali's capital to demand an end to attacks in the centre of the country where there has been an increase in ethnic violence.

Police said 3,000 attended the rally on Friday in Bamako, while organisers put the number of the demonstrators at least 5,000.

Ethnic tensions in central Mali have surged since an gang led by preacher Amadou Koufa emerged in 2015.

The group recruits mainly from among the Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
- primarily cattle breeders and traders - and it has clashed with the Dogon and Bambara - traditionally sedentary farmers who have formed their own self-defence militias.

Friday's demonstration was organised by a youth association demanding the disarming of militia and for people to "say no to hate" whatever their ethnicity.

"Too much blood has been spilled. It has to stop or there will be no life left in the centre of Mali," demonstrator Habitatou Diallo said.

There has been a swathe of mass killings in recent months. At least 488 Fulani civilians died in attacks carried out in the central regions of Mopti and Segou between January 1, 2018, and May 16, 2019, according to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
mission in Mali (MINUSMA). In the same period, armed Fulanis had "caused 63 deaths" among civilians in the Mopti region.

In late March, 160 Fulanis were slaughtered, in the one the bloodiest attacks in Mali's history, while fresh ethnic violence erupted like lava from a volcano this week leading to 41 further deaths in the ethnic Dogon villages of Gangafani and Yoro - the latest in a cycle of tit-for-tat attacks between the warring communities despite the army sending in troops.

President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who rejects the idea of an "inter-ethnic conflict", on Thursday named the former interim president Dioncounda Traore as high representative for the region to report back to him.

The Red Thingy, meanwhile, said on Friday that some 2,800 people fleeing the violence had taken refuge in the town of Bandiagara in the east of Mopti region where aid including utensils and bedding had been distributed.

UN peacekeeping chief Jean-Pierre Lacroix, visiting the country on Friday, said in a statement "the situation has reached what one could call an alert level with the dreadful massacres of the past few weeks and days.

Libyan Air Force destroys Russian air defense system used by Haftar's forces
[Libya Observer] Joint operations room of western Libya said its forces had destroyed four air defense systems (Pantsir S-1) used by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's forces and three ammunition vehicles in Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on last Tuesday.

In a statement on Thursday, the room said their fighter jets had destroyed Sukhoi 22 warplane at al-Watiya airbase on Wednesday, in addition to howitzer artillery, and a tank and seized some vehicles.

"Our operations will continue and will be intensified until the attacking forces are defeated." The room said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Senate, the partisans of Honorius went for their knives and the partisans of Stilicho went for the doors...
a Russian newspaper cited Libyan social media activists' photos showing a Russian Pantsir S-1 air defense system arriving in al-Jufra airbase via a UAE transportation jet in order to back up Haftar's forces.

The newspaper says the system was seen on a Germany-made truck, saying that only the UAE has this air defense system.

"The UAE supported Haftar with military vehicles, warplanes, and other combat supplies, which means it has provided him with this Russian air defense system." The newspaper added.

A source from Volcano of rage Operation said earlier they had destroyed trucks and ammo going to Gharyan from al-Jufra, with reports saying the Russian air defense system was among the destroyed items.

Trump refuses to take the bait mullahs (and Democrats) hoped he would
[AMERICANTHINKER] The shared goal of the mullahs and the Democrats was to create a no-win situation for the president: if he attacks Iran, he risks being drawn into a shooting war, a move that is not likely to be popular and could easily cost him his re-election. It could also very likely drive a wedge between the United States and its allies that are cooperating in the sanctions against Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
that are seriously hurting it. That is the mullahs' goal, and they are more than happy to risk loss of life and facilities in order to achieve it.

For the Democrats, the prime goal is something to criticize. And they are attacking Trump for even considering launching an attack, while the Morning Joe crew today on MSNBC trashed him for vacillation.

The president clearly is in a situation requiring he play 3- or 4-dimensional chess. He has to deal with Democrats anxious to attack him no matter what he does; our allies who want Iranian oil and markets for their goods; the mullahs who want nuclear weapons and the end of sanctions and friction among our allies; and his base, including many hawks who crave retaliation if not war.

Because Obama's JCPOA Iran deal ensured that the mullahs would get nukes ten years after it began, it was unacceptable. Trump knows that, but Democrats ignore it.

So long as he can avoid war, time is on Trump's side, as the sanctions are strangling Iran. He's offered the mullahs forsaking regime change as a goal, but clearly wants something in return for that offer, probably abandonment of their nuclear arsenal and a robust inspections regime to verify it. That is not something they want, but his job is to make it the better option they face.

We live in interesting times, I am afraid. My guess is that the mullahs will escalate. My further guess is that Trump will find means other than a conventional military attack to retaliate.

I'm inclined to think that what is needed here is patience. Our largest problem is Russia, China, etc., working around the sanctions. If this cannot be accomplished then Iran's economy seems destined to become more weak than currently. Growing dissatisfaction should bring a change in that government's behavior. I would enjoy seeing their beards removed by scantily clad damsels gyrating to Iranian underground R&R. It all takes time.

If this cannot be accomplished then Iran's economy seems destined to become more weak than currently. Growing dissatisfaction should bring a change in that government's behavior. I would enjoy seeing their beards removed by scantily clad damsels gyrating to Iranian underground R&R. It all takes time.

Trump's trash talk takes turn, tacks back
[PRESSTV] By Daniel Patrick Welch

US President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s aborted attack on Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
reveals a few things about the state of the empire. In the first place, it is still an act of war, as was the spy drone Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) shot down last week.

The thing is, both parties want this war and Trump’s ego actually saved him from a huge mistake. He’s probably trying to have it both ways, as is his style. He doesn’t want to be responsible for starting (expanding, really) yet another war; but he wants to use the bullying tools in the empire’s kit.

I mean think about the logic. First, on trying to split hairs about a US spy plane collecting sensitive data 8000 miles from home, and now saying that the empire is showing ’restraint’ by not launching air strikes. It’s like the schoolyard bully saying ’I almost punched you for refusing to give me your lunch money, but I didn't. It's your lucky day.’

And the Democrats, the fake domestic ’resistance’ to the Trump regime, attack him for everything except the wars. On that they are in lockstep, except for a few marginal voices the corporate media and party machine are working overtime to silence and exclude.

It is shocking (though I suppose it shouldn’t be) that the US’s toadying vassals and allies still buy into obviously ridiculous narratives like the suggestion that Iran blew up a Japanese oil tanker while the PM was in country for a state visit. These vassals are like the domestic loyal opposition. They hate Trump because he is a boorish, Ugly American (Orange Man Bad) while completely backing all the wars and lies of empire.

This version of alternate reality, collectively referred to as the West, or, laughably, the International Community, is extremely powerful and still sits atop the pile of wealth they have plundered from the rest of the world. But outside this bubble, and in the lower ranks of its own populations, nobody is buying the bullshit. Japan doesn’t even believe it. Certainly no one with a mind independent of the propaganda matrix gives a second thought to what has become the Gulf of Tonkin du jour.

No lie can live forever, though the US and its willing exponents of global white supremacy sure are giving this trope a run for its money. And they will fight to the bitter end to keep the truth from upending their centuries’ long reign of terror.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordanians hold protest against Trump’s plan on Israeli-Palestinian conflict
[PRESSTV] Thousands of Jordanians have taken to the streets in protest against US President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
’s upcoming controversial plan on the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict.

The protesters rallied in the capital Amman and other cities after Friday prayers, chanting slogans in support of the Paleostinian cause and in condemnation of the plan ‐ which Trump has called the "deal of the century."

The demonstrators also denounced a US-led conference, which is slated to be held in Bahrain on June 25 and 26, during which the first part of Trump’s so-called "peace plan" will be unveiled.

They also stressed that the Jordanian people would prevent the implementation of such a deal, which is widely reported to be highly biased in favor of the Israeli regime.

The US will lead the Bahrain conference to purportedly encourage investment in the occupied West Bank, and the blockaded Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip.

All Paleostinian factions have boycotted the event, slamming Washington for what they view as an attempt to offer financial rewards for Paleostinians to accept the Israeli occupation.

The Paleostinians have already rejected Trump’s Middle East initiative as "the slap of the century."

The Washington Post said in April that the plan is likely to "stop short of ensuring a separate, fully sovereign Paleostinian state."

The Paleostinians are planning to hold a "popular uprising" later this month in conjunction with the Manama conference.

NYT reporter flagged Jared Kushner meetings with Russians to FBI
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

news hound fed information about Jared Kushner meeting with Russians to the FBI, newly released emails show.

Journalist Michael Schmidt sent an email on March 24, 2017, to FBI Assistant Director for Public Affairs Michael Kortan, stating that his colleagues were reporting on the FBI's Russia investigation and had stumbled onto some information about President Trump's son-in-law and top adviser.

"Wanted to flag you on something. Three of my colleagues are working on a story about the Russia investigation. They’re told that Jared Kushner is among the individuals who the F.B.I. is scrutinizing for their meetings with Russians," Schmidt said. "My colleagues were told that Ambassador Kislyak, after meeting Kushner and General Flynn in early December at Trump Tower, set up a meeting with Kushner and a Russian banker. Kushner ultimately met with the Russian banker. The banker worked for Alpha Bank. Thanks. Mike."

Kortan forwarded the email to FBI special agent Peter Strzok, who was leading the bureau's Russia investigation, and Jonathan Moffa, an FBI counterintelligence officer.

The Washington Examiner has reached out to Schmidt for comment.

The email was obtained by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, released in response to a May 21 court order by U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton to the FBI to process 13,000 pages of records. Thursday's release by Judicial Watch, which it claimed to show "FBI-media collusion," also revealed interactions between the FBI and other media outlets, including ProPublica asking for a fact check for an upcoming report.

An email exchange on April 10, 2017, involving Strzok, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, and other bureau officials, appears to be about getting a preview of an upcoming Times report. "The editing is nearing completion and we have one last shot to hear what the end result is. Do you have time later today or tomorrow that is convenient for a listening session? Likely by phone in Mike’s office," said an email that was part of the thread with the subject line "NYT Last Shot."

China police raids rescue 1,100 trafficked Southeast Asian women
[DAWN] Chinese police rescued 1,130 kidnapped foreign women in the second half of last year in coordinated operations with five Southeast Asian countries, the Ministry of Public Security said on Friday.

Police arrested 1,322 suspects, including 262 foreigners, for allegedly luring and kidnapping women after promising jobs or marriages, the ministry said, in what appears to be the largest such operation to date.

"In recent years, some lawless locals and foreigners have conspired to abduct women from neighboring countries and sell them as wives in China," public security front man Guo Lin said at a news conference in Beijing. "It's a serious violation of these women's rights and interests."

Demand for foreign brides in China has mounted in recent years. It has been fueled by Beijing's one-child policy, which skewed China's gender balance for decades before the government changed it three years ago.
Meaning all the available brides are under three...
Many men in the Chinese countryside struggle to find wives, especially if they lack a car, house, or well-paying job.

Marriage agents that match couples are part of a legal, accepted practice in China, and transnational marriages have become increasingly common. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
Chinese law bans marriage agencies from introducing foreign brides to deter trafficking.

Along China's porous southeastern borders, smugglers lure women by pretending to be attractive men on social media and flirting with them, or by promising well-paid jobs in hotels or restaurants, as in one case The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported last year.

When they cross the border, smugglers often drug the women, take money, phones and identifying documents, and drive them farther into China.

Trafficked women end up isolated in rural villages, most unable to speak with anyone around them due to language barriers. Disoriented and cut off from family back home, they struggle to get help.

China signed a memorandum with Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand in 2004 to cooperate on anti-trafficking efforts across Southeast Asia.

The recent crackdown from July to December of last year involved police from the six countries. Most of the cases involved Vietnamese and Cambodian women.

The joint raids are an encouraging sign that trafficking is being taken more seriously, says Mimi Vu, director of advocacy at Pacific Links, a group that helps trafficked Vietnamese women.

"Cooperation is a lynchpin of the success of police raids," Vu said. "It's key... that the Chinese police weren't going in blindly, they had information on the missing victims and where they could be found."

China has established eight liaison offices that coordinate with police in neighbouring Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos to combat trafficking and return kidnapped women to their home countries, according to Chen Shiqu, a deputy director at the Ministry of Public Security. Chen also said China has stepped up border patrols and inspections to catch smugglers.

Advocacy groups outside China say Chinese police are responsive to trafficking cases once they're notified.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
enforcement can be spotty, with reports of officers failing to take action because of language barriers or concern over getting buyers and agents into trouble.

Nuggets from the Urdu Press
It’s been years since we’ve had nuggets. The little drawings at the link are just as fun as ever.
[THEFRIDAYTIMES] Treatment

According to Daily Express (04 June 2019), former Finance Minister Asad Umar opined that the PML-N government left the economy on its deathbed (bistar-e-marg par chorr kar gai thi) and that the process of healing it would be akin to that for a wound.

The Mufti weighs in

Mufti Naeem of Jamia Binoria, according to Daily Express (05 June 2019), demanded that Fawad Chaudhry be removed from his ministerial post. He expressed his view that we are required to celebrate Eid after sighting the requisite moon. Mufti Naeem went on to say that the 5-year calendar proposed by Fawad Chaudhry would not be acceptable and that science was subservient to Shariah (science shariat ke tabeh hai).

Beneficiaries

Daily Dunya (08 June 2019) reported that on the happy occasion of Eid the barbers, tailors and beggars were among the most successful collectors of Eidi money. Religious leaders at mosques and madrassahs also received large sums of money on the festival. One beggar was quoted as saying that price hikes had hit collections from Eidi.

PIA strikes again

A PIA flight that departed from Madinah and flew to Islamabad on the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr, according to Daily Express (08 June 2019), left the luggage of more than 50 passengers who had performed Umra. Passengers launched a protest on arrival at Islamabad’s airport.

Desperate measures

Daily Jang (08 June 2019) reported that a young man accused of bothering a woman via phone calls was lured into a trap by her husband. The young man then found his head and half his mustache shaved – in addition to having his face blackened and being paraded around the neighbourhood.

What the future holds

Manzoor Wissan of the PPP, known for his political predictions, according to Daily Jang (08 June 2019), claimed that PM Imran Khan’s government would not last until 2020 and that he would resign suddenly before this year’s end.

Advice

Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed was quoted by Daily Jang (08 June 2019) as saying that the ruling PTI should not wash its dirty laundry publicly on the media, but that it ought to instead keep internal clashes to itself. He also predicted that the opposition’s “drama” would fall apart soon without affecting the PM and his administration. Rasheed also placed responsibility for the current price hikes on PML-N and PPP.

Libyan army forces enter Tripoli Airport, seize major positions from Haftar's forces
[Libya Observer] A source from Volcano of Rage operation has confirmed that the Libyan Army forces entered and controlled the majority of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
International Airport after advancing on it from three fighting axes as part of an intensive offensive.

The front man for the media office of Volcano of Rage Operation Mustafa al-Majea said their forces controlled Wednesday most parts of the airport and entered the VIP lounge.
NOT the VIP Lounge! Will they be forced to watch CNN?
Social media activists posted photos and footage for the seized vehicles and tanks from Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969.
's forces as well as for bodies of Haftar's fighters left behind after fleeing the airport.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his leg. Son of a Breech! he exclaimed with feeling......
Abu Salim Central Security forces of Volcano of Rage Operation said it had advanced on Qasir Benghashir and entered Kazirma checkpoint - a vital position held by Haftar's forces.

Other forces under the Presidential Council government's command launched another offensive in line with the airport one on Ain Zara and Wadi rabbi frontlines, carrying out heavy artillery shelling on Haftar's forces positions.

The front man for the Libyan Army Mohammed Gununu said Libyan Air Force carried out six Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...

"Iran does not take Trump nor his remarks seriously," the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) quoted Shamkhani as saying.

Bernie Sanders Wants to Give 11M Illegal Immigrants Health Care Under Medicare for All
[PJMEDIA] On Friday, Sen. Bernie Sanders

...The only first openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords. He ran for the 2016 nomination for president, to be cheated out of it by Hillary Clinton, then went back to being a socialist...

(I-Vt.), the runner-up for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination and a 2020 candidate, said his "Medicare for All" program would extend health care coverage to the 11 million illegal immigrants colonists in the U.S.

"We are gonna end that and create a Medicare for All healthcare system which guarantees health care to every man woman and child and saves the average American substantial sums of money," Sanders said at the NALEO conference in Miami.

"Senator, would you include the 11 million undocumented immigrants colonists in that?" a moderator asked.

"Absolutely. Absolutely," Sanders responded. "When I talk about health care being a human right, last time I heard that undocumented people are human beings as well."
"American human beings?"
"Well no, but we you should pay for them anyway if it helps my chances"

Interestingly, Sanders also admitted that government-funded health care programs have serious problems.

"Now to answer your question, I will not deny that every country on earth that has a national health care program, all have problems. That’s the nature of health care and a changing technology. But what I want everybody to understand is literally starting yesterday, the insurance companies and the drug companies are starting to spend tens and tens of millions of dollars to fight against Medicare for All. And we will organize the American people around the concept that all people in this country have the right to health care and at the end of the day, we are going to win that struggle," he said.

The protestors carried banners which read "India is not our final destination" and "refugees have basic rights".

They said that the rally was launched to mark the World Refugee Day and attract the attention of the UN and the Indian government towards the "miserable" conditions of the Afghans living in New Delhi.

"We have not received any help," said Wazhma, an Afghan refugee in India. "We gathered here to share our problems. We urge the United Nation to assess our problems. None of the [European countries] has accepted us so far and the UN is not helping us."

"No one hears our voices here. The UN office should help us and hear our voices. It is not clear that either our asylum will be accepted or rejected after five or 15 years. If we are rejected, we should pay fine to India government because we do not have a visa," another Afghan refugee, Sonia, said.

Another Afghan national, Aminullah, 40, said he is living in New Delhi with his family for the past four years, waiting for their asylum application to be accepted.

"There are hundreds of families like me who are living in India in an uncertain situation and the UN is not taking care of them," Aminullah said.
Afghan diplomats in India said the embassy of Afghanistan was not involved in holding the protest.

"This protest was launched by refugees in New Delhi. Afghanistan’s embassy does not interfere in such affairs, but [the embassy] is always ready to provide consultancy services to them," said Humayun Nezami, the first secretary of the embassy.

Figures by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation show that almost six million Afghans have left the country over the past 17 years as the conflicts and violence continue in the country.

Rhode Island Passes Radical Abortion Bill
[FREEBEACON] Rhode Island became the latest Democrat-dominated state to adopt radical legislation protecting abortion up until birth.

Democratic governor Gina Raimondo signed the Reproductive Privacy Act into law Wednesday. It will allow for abortion procedures to take place after fetal viability‐when the baby is able to live outside the womb‐as long as doctors say the mother's health is at risk. The bill, which passed the Senate 21 to 17 and the House 45 to 29, also lifts abortion limits prior to fetal viability. Gov. Raimondo said in a statement that the legislation was designed to guarantee "the status quo under Roe v. Wade," the 1971 case that eliminated state restrictions on abortion.
Raimondo? Any relation to that fat troll Dean that just cost Oberlin $33 Mil in Punitive damages?
"Women and their families across Rhode Island will be free from the fear that the reproductive health care they need today will be illegal tomorrow," Raimondo said.

Many of the provisions that the legislation overturned, however, enjoy bipartisan support. A poll commissioned by the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List found that 73 percent of Rhode Island voters oppose late-term abortions. That number jumps to 77 percent when voters are informed that the bill legalizes abortion up until birth‐including 69 percent of Democrats, 79 percent of independents, 80 percent of women, and 62 percent of those identifying as pro-choice.

"It is extremely disappointing to see Rhode Island politicians cave to pressure from the abortion lobby to pass this radical bill," SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a release. "Rhode Islanders should not be fooled by the smokescreen of ’compromise': This law expands abortion on demand through the moment of birth."

At least 30 dead in fire at Indonesia matchstick factory
The place went up like a... ummm... match.
[DAWN] At least 30 people died on Friday after a fire swept through a small factory producing matchsticks in Indonesia's North Sumatra province, authorities said.

The blaze broke out at midday in the makeshift facility located in a residential area, killing 27 adults and three children, said Riadil Akhir Lubis, head of the provincial disaster mitigation agency.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire, he said.

“(The children) were probably not workers. Their parents, who lived nearby, brought them to work,” said Irwan Syahri, head of the local disaster agency, told Metro TV.

Palestinian Clan 'disowns' Son For Attending Bahrain Conference
[Jpost] The clan of a Paleostinian man from Jenin who reportedly agreed to attend next week’s US-led economic workshop in Bahrain has issued a statement "disowning" him and accusing him of collaboration with Israel.

The man, Mohammed Arif Masad, from the town of Burqin, 5 km west of Jenin, is reported to have moved to Israel two decades ago after being accused of collaboration with Israeli authorities.

The clan said in its statement that it cut its ties with Masad 20 years ago because he "deviated from the national line and the morals, values and traditions of his family."

The clan said that Masad represents only himself and pledged its full support for Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
and the PLO for their "courageous stance against all those who are conspiring [against the Paleostinians] by attending suspicious conferences."

The Paleostinian ruling Fatah faction headed by Abbas published the family’s statement and photos of Masad on its official Facebook page.

If true, Masad will be the second Paleostinian to defy the Paleostinian call for boycotting the Bahrain workshop, which is expected to be launched in Bahrain on June 25.

Masad was suspected of collaboration with Israel during the first Intifada and was forced to flee his town, Paleostinian sources in Jenin told The Jerusalem Post. They claimed that the man has since been living in Israel.

Earlier, Ashraf Jabari, a businessman from Hebron, said he has accepted an invitation from the US administration to participate in the conference. Jabari said he will go to Bahrain as the representative of the Judea and Samaria Chamber of Commerce.

Also Friday, Paleostinian Chief Religious Justice Mahmoud Abbas, who also serves as adviser to Abbas, said that Paleostinians would rather die than accept being humiliated by Israel and the US.

Referring to the Bahrain conference, Habbash said at a Friday prayer sermon in Ramallah: "It is our duty to confront this conspiracy. We may disagree on many things, but the Paleostinians are united in rejecting this disgrace by Israel and the US."

Habbash claimed that the US was seeking to "bribe" the Paleostinians through the Bahrain conference.

"They are talking about billions of dollars to improve the economic conditions of the Paleostinian people," he said. "This is a bribe. They are offering us billions of dollars in return for making Jerusalem Israel’s capital and giving up the right of return for the refugees. They want to turn the Paleostinian cause into an issue of a people who just want to live, and not a people seeking dignity or freedom or illusory sovereignty."

Habbash scoffed at the US administration’s motto of "prosperity to peace" and accused the Americans of treating the Paleostinians with contempt.

"Which prosperity are they talking about?" he asked. "This is contempt for peace. This is a mockery of the Paleostinian people and their rights. They are ridiculing the blood of the deaders who sacrificed their lives for our cause. We will never betray their blood and sacrifices."

Nabil Abu Rudaineh, front man for the PA presidency, again lashed out at the Bahrain conference, dubbing it a "strategic mistake." He claimed that the conference was aimed at achieving normalization between Israel and the Arab states.

The conference, he said, was in the context of US "provocative steps that will aggravate tensions in the region."

Meanwhile,
...back at the railroad tracks, Little Nell tried to kick her bound feet and scream post the snotty handkerchief Scarface Al had stuff into her mouth...
Fatah and several Paleostinian factions repeated their appeal to Paleostinians to stage demonstrations in the West Bank to express their rejection of the Bahrain conference.

The protests will begin on June 24 and continue until the end of the conference two days later. The factions urged Paleostinians to "escalate confrontations" with the IDF during the mass protests.

Special prosecutor to probe handling of Jussie Smollett criminal case
[CHICAGO.SUNTIMES] A Cook County judge on Friday ruled that a special prosecutor should further investigate the Jussie Smollett
...Cable TV actor whose primary talents seemed to be being black and being homosexual. In a bid for national attention, he paid a pair of Nigerian brothers to rough him up a little so he could claim that two large, white, MAGA hat-wearing men had shouted This is MAGA country! while thumping him at 2:30am on a bitter cold night in Chicago and throwing bleach on him, presumably to lighten him up. The story quickly unraveled, and he became a laughingstock and the poster boy for pretend victimization and attention whoredom...
case and how Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and her office handled the decision to drop charges against the "Empire" actor.

In a stinging critique of Foxx’s office, Judge Michael Toomin wrote in his 21-page order that "the unprecedented irregularities identified in this case warrants the appointment of independent counsel to restore the public’s confidence in the criminal justice system."

Toomin’s order gives the special prosecutor a wide-ranging mandate, including further prosecution of Smollett, if warranted, as well as any other crimes that were "committed in the course of the Smollett matter."

Toomin ruled that Foxx should have requested a special prosecutor when she decided to recuse herself from Smollett’s case in February, shortly before the actor was charged with making a false report to police.

Toomin said Foxx had no power to recuse herself and then assign decision making in the case to her top deputy, Joseph Magats.

"There was no duly elected state’s attorney when Jussie Smollett was arrested. Ms. Foxx had already effected her recusal," Toomin said, nor was there any legally appointed prosecutor when Smollett was charged, or the charges dismissed.

Toomin expressed concerned about Foxx’s decision to delegate case to Magats.

"There isn’t an office of ’acting state’s attorney.’ It existed only . . . in the imagination of Ms. Foxx," Toomin said.

Hickenlooper: Give Illegal Immigrants 10-year Visas ‘Immediately’
[FREEBEACON] Former Colorado governor and Democratic presidential candidate John Hickenlooper
... former governor of Colorado, yet another of 2020's innumerable Dem candidates. Less grabby than Biden, less Cherokee than Warren assuming that's possible, taller than Gillebrand, if those are recommendations...
said Friday the 11 million illegal immigrants colonists currently living in the United States should be given 10-year visas "immediately."

Hickenlooper was speaking at Telemundo's presidential candidate forum in Miami when he made the comment about illegal immigrants colonists in the United States, adding the visa would allow a path to American citizenship.

"What would be your plan for the 11 million undocumented immigrants colonists that are right here in the country. Would you give them a path to citizenship?" a moderator asked.

Before answering the question, Hickenlooper responded to another question about a 2014 Wall Street Journal interview in which he said citizenship wasn't a priority for undocumented immigrants colonists. The moderator mentioned that he walked back the claim and then repeated it in 2016 during an event with community leaders.

"I was talking about‐when I talked to the Wall Street Journal about trying to find a way that the undocumented people in this country could go back and forth immediately and visit their families," Hickenlooper said. "What I would say with the 11 million people that are here now that we should give them a 10-year visa immediately, put them on a pathway to citizenship and make sure that if it takes longer they can have extensions."

"What I was trying to say at that time was the priority should be allow people to come out from the shadows," Hickenlooper said.

Hickenlooper was asked to clarify whether he would provide undocumented immigrants colonists with a pathway to citizenship.

"Yes, of course. No, no I was saying the priority needs to be able to let them have freedom to actually work and to travel, but yes absolutely everyone deserves a pathway to citizenship," Hickenlooper said.

GOP Congressman Introduces Bill to Defund Public Broadcasting
[FREEBEACON] Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn (Colo.) has introduced a bill to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which includes National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

"The national debt is over $22 trillion. The federal government cannot continue unconstitutional spending to subsidize media programs that are majority privately funded," the congressman said in a blurb.

Lamborn claims that NPR and PBS have "shown increasing bias in sensitive political and social issues." He cites the recent PBS episode of the children's show Arthur, which featured a same-sex wedding. Alabama Public Television and the Arkansas Educational Television Network both refused to air the episode.

"The Constitution does not grant the federal government the authority to subsidize media programming. Not only is this funding unconstitutional and wasteful, but it has also violated the conscience rights of many conservative and religious Americans," Lamborn said, "American taxpayers subsidized the CPB, the parent organization to PBS and NPR, to the tune of $445 million annually for the last two fiscal years."

Afghanistan
Security Threats Remain High In Khwaja Omari District
[ToloNews] The Khwaja Omari district in the central province of Ghazni is still facing security threats after it was cleared of Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
earlier this month, local officials and local residents said on Friday.

The residents said there is a need for a large scale military operation to remove the threats, some Khwaja Omari residents said.

Some residents of the district who left their houses during the conflicts have returned back to their homes.

Khwaja Omari district is located 18 kilometers to the east the city of Ghazni and was under Taliban control for almost one year.

"When we retook the district, most parts of it were destroyed by blasts," the Ghazni Police Chief Mohammad Khalid Wardak said.

"There are some problems, including lack of schools, especially for girls," the Ghazni governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said.

A commander of 203 Thunder Corps, Abdul Mubeen Mujtaba, said that Khwaja Omari district is threatened by its neighboring districts in Maidan Wardak district, but he said that the Afghan forces "always ready" to thwart the threats.

The Afghan forces have retaken two districts of Ghazni from the Taliban in less than a month, but reports indicate that almost half of almost 300 voter registration centers have remained closed in the district due to security issues.

Man who won $30M lottery while in middle of divorce ordered to share winnings
[NYPOST] A suburban bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
man who was in the middle of a divorce when he won more than $30 million must share the lottery windfall with his ex-wife.

The Michigan appeals court says a marriage isn’t over until it’s over. It means Mary Beth Zelasko can keep $15 million awarded by an arbitrator, although she and Rich Zelasko had been separated for two years when he bought the Mega Millions ticket in 2013. Their divorce wasn’t final until 2018.

In a court filing, an attorney for Rich Zelasko said, "Rich was lucky, but it was his luck, not Mary’s, that produced the lottery proceeds." But arbitrator John Mills said the ticket was marital property. The couple had agreed to have Mills make certain decisions during the divorce case.

The appeals court last week found no errors.

"I do believe that it is the responsibility for the federal government to make sure anyone who lives here regardless of their immigration status has the means to demonstrate that they are who they say they are," he said at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials presidential forum on Friday morning.

Buttigieg was asked about his program to implement a city-wide ID for illegal immigrants colonists in South Bend during his time as mayor and whether he would support the idea federally.

He indicated he did and argued elected officials had a responsibility to offer benefits to not just citizens, but "undocumented residents" as well.

"As a city, my responsibility as a mayor is in fact not only to citizens but to residents," Buttigieg said.

Friday Protests Along Gaza Border Leave 39 Injured, Fire Balloon Lights Up Negev Fields
[Jpost] Approximately 6000 people were in attendance during protests along the Gazoo

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. border on Friday.

Protests broke out, as on every Friday, along the Gaza border, with some 6000 protesters in attendance.

Three bombs were thrown over the fence into Israeli territory, and one person attempted to climb over the fence. Soon after crossing over, the IDF sent the Paleostinian back into Gazook territory.

The Paleostinian Ministry of Health reported that 39 people were maimed during the protests, including a Paleostinian paramedic.

Suspected incendiary balloon fire sparked in Negev fields

[Jpost] A suspected incendiary balloon fire has been reported in several fields in the Negev near the Gaza Border, according to Channel 13. Firefighting crews were on the scene to deal with the blaze. Investigations to confirm the cause are underway.

Britain
UK police arrest 44 on historic child sex abuse allegations
[DAWN] Police in northern England say they have arrested 44 people in connection with allegations of child sex abuse between 1995 and 2002.
No names mentioned. I'm guessing the majority of them aren't Clives or Nigels.
West Yorkshire Police said in a statement on Friday that 36 men and three women were arrested across the towns of Kirklees, Bradford and Leeds over the last two weeks. Five other men were arrested at the end of last year over the same investigation.

Police said all 44 have been interviewed and released under investigation, which centres on allegations made by four women of sexual abuse committed against them as children mainly in the Dewsbury and Batley area of Kirklees.

Detective Inspector Seth Robinson, who is leading the investigation, said protecting children remains the force's "top priority" and hopes the arrests "reassure our local communities".

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The fighter jets of the Arab Coalition backing the legitimate government in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...

The Coalition said the drones were launched by the Iranian-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. SC turns death sentence to life imprisonment in terrorism case
[DAWN] The Supreme Court on Friday overturned the death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
awarded to a murder convict by a trial court in 2007, converting the sentence into life imprisonment.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Qazi Mohammad Amin, pronounced the verdict.

The convict, Karim Nawaz, was found guilty of murdering his sister, brother and a sister-in-law in Mianwali. A trial court had convicted Nawaz to death on three counts of murder and one count of terrorism.
How does a family squabble among primitives amount to "terrorism," which is directed against the state?
The convict had later reconciled with his family. Subsequently, the three convictions for murder were dropped by the trial court but the conviction for terrorism had been upheld.

On appeals, both the Lahore High Court and the apex court upheld the death sentence awarded on the basis of terrorism.

Arguing against converting the sentence, the additional prosecutor general said that the convict murdered three people and is now asking for relief.

To this, the chief justice said that it seems the crime was committed in a fit of temporary rage.

The bench then ruled to convert the death sentence into life imprisonment.

Africa North
African Union: Libya's crisis cannot be resolved militarily
But it has been fairly conclusively demonstrated that Libya’s crisis most certainly can’t be resolved non-militarily, so militarily is all that’s left. We could colonize, I s’pose, except nobody wants the thankless job and anyway that would still be a military solution — just involving a new party.
[Libya Observer] The Chairperson of the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Commission Moussa Faki told news hounds Thursday that there can be no military solution to the Libyan crisis.

Faki told French newspaper Jeune Afrique that the Libyan Reconciliation Conference that is scheduled in next July in Addis Ababa won't be held till a ceasefire is reached in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Faki also called for an end to hostilities in Libya and a return to dialogue to find a way out of the conflict and reach a consensus about elections, adding that foreign intervention in the country has become clear and some countries are fueling the conflict by flowing arms into Libya.

Last April, the African Union announced a Libyan Reconciliation Conference after the then April-14-16 UN-brokered National Conference that was supposed to take place in Ghadames but interrupted on April 04 by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969.

14th parent pleads guilty in college bribery scheme
[DAWN] A former insurance executive from Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, is the 14th parent to plead guilty to participating in the nationwide college admissions bribery scheme.

Authorities say Toby MacFarlane paid $450,000 to get his children admitted to the University of Southern California as fake athletic recruits. MacFarlane pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in Boston federal court Friday.

MacFarlane, of Del Mar, California, is a former senior executive at a title insurance company. Prosecutors have said they'll recommend 15 months in prison.

Other parents who have pleaded guilty in the case include "Desperate Housewives" actress Felicity Huffman.

Among the parents fighting the charges are "Full House" actress Lori Loughlin and her fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli.

Iraq
ISIS claims responsibility for fires on Syria-Iraq border
[Rudaw] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) murderous Moslems burned lands of Sunni fighters and Yazidis in Nineveh, on the Iraqi border with Syria, in early June, the group said on Thursday. ISIS’ claim comes amid regular reports of fires spreading in areas with security vacuums.
Security vacuum - is that like an armed Roomba?
Go to your room, Frank G! That's absolutely dreadful!
The terrorist group announced in the 187 edition of al-Naba, their propaganda newsletter released on June 20, that their murderous Moslems "burned a number of crops of Hashd al-Ashairi", referring to Sunni members of the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMFs), paramilitias founded five years ago to combat ISIS.

ISIS wrote that they started fires last week in the town of Rabia in Nineveh by planting improvised bombs (IEDs) on farms.

They also claimed to have "burned a fire truck and killed its driver and a number of Hashd [al-Shaabi] fighters", referring to the Arabic name for the PMFs.

After years of drought, Iraqi farmers had high hopes that the heavy rainfall in winter and spring would lend to a strong and profitable harvest season. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
these hopes for the harvest season have been marred by fires engulfing agricultural fields, with most people blaming ISIS for the flames.

Iraq’s harvest season began in April. Since then, crop fires have sprung up across the disputed areas between Erbil and Baghdad, including in Nineveh, Kirkuk , Saladin, and Diyala provinces.

Over 600 dunams of wheat fields in Khanaqin, Qaratapa, Jabara and the plains of Qamishalan were set ablaze in Diyala province within one week in May.

The head of the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate, Zuhail Ali, told Rudaw English on June 15, that "8,500 dunams of land have burned across Kirkuk province.

Ali added that the sources of the blazes vary, ranging from unidentified perpetrators to electrical fires.

Adil Abdul-Mahdi, the Iraqi prime minister, has downplayed ISIS’ role in the fires.

"We have fires every year. Not all fires are the work of ISIS or hostility...some of them are internal feuds between landowners, between farmers," the Iraqi PM said last month, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Hassan Ibrahim, deputy head of Iraqi Civil Defense General Directorate, told al-Mawsleya TV on June 18 that the fire incidents had been investigated and they had concluded that some of the blame lay with ISIS, but some cases were also because of a lack of awareness from farmers.

"There is also a shortcoming from the farmers. Farmers used to protect their lands as well as participate in trainings."

ISIS claimed in al-Naba last month that a "hot summer" is awaiting "the rejectionists and apostates," using two terms it often employs for Moslems who don’t adhere to the group’s interpretation of Islam.

The Grand Turk
US sanction on Turkish defense firms could go beyond F-35 suppliers
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Washington is looking at imposing financial sanctions on Ottoman Turkish firms beyond those that build parts for the Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jet, over Ankara’s plans to buy a Russian air defense system, a top Pentagon official said on Monday.

Chief arms buyer Ellen Lord said US officials viewed The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor...
as an important NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
ally and urged it to drop its plans to buy the Russian-built S-400 air defense system so that its companies could continue to build critical parts for a wide range of other US weapons systems besides the F-35 fighter jet.

The discussion has focused so far mainly on the high profile F-35 program. But Lord’s comments at the Gay Paree Airshow reflected growing concern in Washington about Turkey’s refusal to reverse its purchase of the S-400 system.

Lord said the issues were being kept separate for now, but an inter-agency U.S. government group was looking at potential sanctions against a wider range of Ottoman Turkish firms under the US Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).

"We have bifurcated the S-400 and F-35 impact from (the) impact to the rest of our defense and commercial industry," Lord told news hounds. "Everything outside of the F-35 from a defense perspective, we have reviewed within the department and that would be subject to any CAATSA sanctions."

She said no decisions had been made, but a decision to proceed with sanctions would hit the Ottoman Turkish industry hard.

"There have been no decisions made on that point. However it would be very, very significant for Turkey," Lord said, noting that the US industry was resilient and could find other sources for the Ottoman Turkish parts.

"That’s not really what we want to do," she said. "We want to find a way to continue to work with Turkey."

Ottoman Turkish firms build 937 parts for the stealth fighter, and Ankara had planned to buy 100 of F-35 fighters, which would have a total value of $9 billion at current prices. The Pentagon now plans to move that production to US sites and elsewhere, ending Turkey’s manufacturing role by early next year.

Ottoman Turkish officials argue that Ankara is fulfilling its responsibilities in the F-35 project and expected the program to continue as planned. They say buying the S-400s is only meant to meet Turkey’s defense needs and posed no threats to the F-35.

Ralph Acaba, president of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, said Ottoman Turkish firms build components for the company’s Patriot missile defense system, although Turkey does not own or operate that system.

He said Ottoman Turkish firms were important, reliable suppliers, but Raytheon was constantly looking at alternatives, based on risk assessments. He declined to provide details on the total amount of Ottoman Turkish content on Raytheon weapons systems.

Why NYCHA’s new $400K-a-year boss isn’t afraid of failure
[NYPOST] Mayor Bill de Blasio’s $400,000-a-year pick to run the city’s beleaguered public housing agency admitted to The Post on Thursday that he’s not worried about failing ‐ because he’s near the end of his career and won’t need another job.
"In the Warren Wilhelm...errr....DeBlas administration, it's kinda expected"
Greg Russ, 69, said he has "a much different mindset than when I was coming up" and "it feels like this is a good time to try something like this."

"The risk of any new adventure ‐ I can take that without necessarily worrying about what I do next because what I do next is a function of where I am in my life now," he said.

Russ also warned long-suffering New York City Housing Authority tenants who went without heat last winter that they may face the same struggles again.

"I think this winter is going to be tough because I’m getting there late in the season, but we’ll figure that out," he said by phone from Minneapolis, where he runs that city’s Public Housing Authority.
"But we'll defrost you in Spring 2020, youbetcha"
"So, the job is to do the work to make sure the boilers function. And, I’ve used all kinds of backup mechanisms when we knew we had shaky boilers in housing authorities I’ve worked at. Our job is to make sure the heat stays on and if it goes out, it gets back on fast."

Russ wouldn’t say how he negotiated his lucrative salary, which is nearly twice the $231,000 earned by his predecessor, Shola Olatoye, who resigned in disgrace amid a scandal over falsified lead-paint inspection reports.

US Senator Ted Cruz says will introduce new legislation labelling Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group
[AlAhram] US Senator Ted Cruz said he is planning to introduce "enhanced" legislation to designate the Moslem Brüderbund a terrorist organization "in the short future," in remarks made to a panel held Thursday on the issue.

Cruz sponsored legislation in 2017 that would require the White House to decide whether the Brotherhood fit the criteria for terrorist designation.

During the panel, held at a US Senate building, Cruz dismissed calls to think of the Brotherhood as a moderate group and said the organization "does not hide they are a terrorist organization."

Egypt designated the Brotherhood a terrorist organization in 2013, months after the ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi following mass protests.

Cruz said Cairo has done so "perhaps because they have seen first-hand what that terror looks like and the slaughter that it can produce."

"We need that same clarity," he said in a video message to the panel, which was organised by American Pulse, an Egyptian media company that produces a weekly TV programme from New York. It was also attended by Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas.

Cruz said the intent of the Brotherhood is stated within its Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Brotherhood in North America which, according to him, says "the process of settlement is a civilization-jihad process...The [Moslem Brüderbund] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilisation from within."

The White House said in April that US President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
's administration is pushing to designate the Brotherhood a terrorist group, a move that would bring US sanctions against the movement.

Officials in the Pentagon and State Department have raised objections to the plan, saying that the group does not meet the legal definition of a terrorist group and that the designation might have unfavourable consequences.

Cruz slammed what he described as the B.O. regime’s "willful blindness" to radical Islamic terrorism, saying it is "dangerous and makes us vulnerable."

"The B.O. regime had edited or deleted over 800 records to remove any reference to jihad or Moslem brotherhood... it was a purge" directed by the White House," he said.

He urged the Congress to pass the legislation, and continued to urge the Trump’s administration to "act right now on its own today."

in a federal case in which one of them was accused of saying he hoped to see the jihadist group's flag over the White House, local media reported.

Edward Schimenti and Joseph Jones,
...Joseph D. Jones, also known as Yusuf Abdulhaqq, is a loving family man, former army brat, and convert. Edward Schimenti, a.k.a. Abdul Wali, was banned by the local Black Lives Matter group for being too radical...
both 37, were convicted for providing material support and resources to murderous Moslems in a jury trial in U.S. District Court in Chicago. Schimenti was also found guilty of lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, the Chicago Sun Times reported.

The men could face up to 20 years in prison when they are sentenced at a later date, according to the U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois.

The men from Zion, Illinois, about 50 miles (80 km) north of Chicago, were accused of pledging allegiance to Islamic State and using social media to back violence in support of the murderous Moslem group, according to court papers.

Jones and Schimenti were also accused of discussing backing Islamic State with two undercover FBI employees and an informant and sharing photographs of themselves displaying the Islamic State flag at a state park, according to court documents.

Schimenti told the informant he would like to see the flag "on top of the White House," according to a 77-page criminal complaint filed against the men.

Attorneys for the men argued that they were entrapped by federal agents and what they wrote and talked about was protected by their constitutional right to free speech.

"It was the government that created this entire case out of thin air," they wrote in a motion filed in court in 2018.

The men's lawyers also wrote in court papers that an undercover agent asked Schimenti if he wanted to "rock it out," which he interpreted to be an invitation to commit a violent act. He refused, walked out of the meeting, and told Jones he never wanted to see those people again.

The men were also accused of providing cellular phones to the informant, believing they would be used to set off explosives in Islamic State attacks, the complaint said.

A week before they were arrested in April 2017, Jones and Schimenti drove the informant to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, believing the informant would be flying to Syria to fight with Islamic State, according to court documents.
