Medic shocks court by testifying HE killed ISIS fighter in Iraq - not the Navy SEAL on trial for murder
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Corey Scott testified that he is the one who killed the young ISIS militant that Edward Gallagher is accused of murdering

  • Gallagher is on trial in San Diego for a host of alleged war crimes

  • Among them is murdering the young militant who his comrades say he stabbed

  • He claims he opened his throat with a knife so he could breathe

  • The young fighter had a collapsed lung and he says he was trying to save him

  • Gallagher put breathing tube in his mouth but Scott said he put his thumb over it to kill him

  • He said he feared the teenager would be tortured to death by Iraqi forces if not

  • Scott had been called as a witness for the prosecution but stunned the court by saying he put his hands over the opening Gallagher created in the boy's neck

  • Scott had been granted immunity for his own crimes in exchange for cooperating with prosecution

U.S. Holds All the Cards in Showdown with Iran-VICTOR DAVIS HANSON

teaser
[PJMedia] In May 2018, the Donald Trump administration withdrew the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran, popularly known as the Iran nuclear deal.
The U.S. then ramped up sanctions on the Iranian theocracy to try to ensure that it stopped nuclear enrichment. The Trump administration also hoped a strapped Iran would become less capable of funding terrorist operations in the Middle East and beyond, proxy wars in the Persian Gulf, and the opportune harassment of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The sanctions are clearly destroying an already weak Iranian economy. Iran is now suffering from negative economic growth, massive unemployment and record inflation.

A desperate Iranian government is using surrogates to send missiles into Saudi Arabia while its forces attack ships in the Gulf of Oman.

The Iranian theocrats despise the Trump administration. They yearn for the good old days of the Obama administration, when the U.S. agreed to a nuclear deal that all but guaranteed future Iranian nuclear proliferation, ignored Iranian terrorism and sent hundreds of millions of dollars in shakedown payments to the Iranian regime.

Iran believed that the Obama administration saw it as a valuable Shiite counterweight to Israel and the traditionally American-allied Sunni monarchies in the Gulf region. Teheran assumes that an even more left-wing American administration would also endorse Iran-friendly policies, and so it is fishing for ways to see that happen in 2020 with a Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren or Joe Biden presidency.

Desperate Iranian officials have already met secretly with former Secretary of State John Kerry and openly with Sen. Diane Feinstein, likely to commiserate over Trump's cancellation of the nuclear deal and to find ways to revive the Obama-era agreement after Trump leaves office.

To that end, the Iranians wish to disrupt world oil traffic while persuading China, Russia and the European Union to pressure the U.S. to back off sanctions.

Iran hopes to provoke and embarrass its nemesis into overreacting -- or not reacting at all. If Trump does nothing, he looks weak to this Jacksonian base of supporters. But do too much, and he appears a neoconservative, globalist nation-builder. Either way, the Iranians think Trump loses.

After all, Iran knows that Trump got elected by flipping the blue-wall states of the Midwest -- in part by promising an end to optional interventions in the Middle East. Accordingly, Iran hopes to embarrass or bog down the U.S. before the 2020 elections. In Teheran's view, the challenge is to provoke Trump into a shooting war that it can survive and that will prove unpopular in the United States, thus losing him the election.

Iran, of course, is not always a rationale actor. A haughty Tehran always magnifies its own importance and discounts the real dangers that it is courting. It harkens back to its role in the 2003-2011 Iraq War, a conflict that proved that U.S. efforts could be subverted, hundreds of American soldiers could be killed, public support for war could be eroded, and a more malleable American government could be transitioned in.

But what worked then may not work now. The U.S. is not only the world's largest producer of oil and natural gas, but soon to become the largest exporter of energy -- and without getting near the Iranian coast. Likewise, American allies in the Middle East such as Israel are energy independent. America's Arab friends enjoy seeing competing Iranian oil all but off the market.

Time, then, is on the Americans' side. But it is certainly not on the side of a bankrupt and impoverished Iran that either must escalate or face ruin.

Iran accused of using FAKE photo to ‘prove' US drone was over its territory
[Sun UK] IRAN has been accused of using a fake photo in an attempt to 'prove' a US drone was over its territory before being shot down.

When revealing Iran had shot down the drone, the country's state-run IRNA news agency released a picture of an aircraft appearing to spiral towards Earth.

It claimed the image showed a RQ-4 Global Hawk, a US military drone, being blasted out the sky over Iranian territory.

However the same photograph - albeit in a wider crop - had previously appeared in a two-year-old report of a spy drone being shot down over Yemen in 2017.

That report quoted Yemeni military sources as saying it showed an American MQ 9 drone falling to Earth near the country's capital Sanaa - and included pictures of the crashed drone burning on the ground.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Iran mistakenly shared the old image or whether it was a deliberate attempt at spreading misinformation.

#3  Iran did the same tanker and shootdown attempts in the late 80s. They are desperate to try to force the powers to stand down and let them make some money.

Keep the screws tight. Let the drones die and kill any fast boats targeting tankers. No need to do more than that at the moment.

Entitlement shoplifter assaults elderly Texas Walmart greeter
[WSOCTV.com] CYPRESS, Texas - A 72-year-old Walmart greeter in Texas said he was only doing his job when he was allegedly punched in the face by a customer Friday night.

Mohinder Singh Randhawa was checking the receipt of Craig Valentine, 42, of Hockley, at a Walmart in Cypress when he noticed a case of Gatorade had not been paid for, KTRK reported.

"I told him if you want, you can scan and take it," Randhawa told the television station. "I never told him he was stealing."

According to investigators who watched surveillance video, Valentine became angry and yelled at Randhawa. According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Harris County District Court, Valentine "chest bumped" Randhawa before punching him.

Award-Winning Feminist Author Says Parents With 'Bad Genes' Should Be Banned From Reproducing
[Townhall] The slow march of the collectivist thinker always leads society toward complete government control over every function of the individual -- whether it be the economy or your sex life, the only way the world can work under a leftist reality is if self-autonomy becomes obsolete. We were reminded of this again today after a self-avowed "secular humanist, feminist, physician" tweeted that certain parents should be banned from having children. In other words, she supports eugenics much like early feminist hero Margaret Sanger.

"Men and women who have bad genes with genetic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer, SCD, etc. should not produce children. They have no right to make others suffer," Taslima Nasreen tweeted.

In what seems like a parody, she defended her position by claiming that she too suffers because of her parents' genetic defects. "I love fish and meat and sweets. But I have to be a vegan in order to reduce the risk of early death," Nasreen said.

Home Front: Culture Wars
The State Department Needs To Issue Travel Warnings For Baltimore And Chicago
[Hot Air] It’s frequently been said that President Trump is a bit of a disrupter of normal political and governmental processes (and that’s from people trying to be nice to him). It follows that some of his Cabinet-level appointees might fall into the same general category. With that in mind, I’ve got a suggestion for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Start issuing travel advisories for dangerous places where people shouldn’t travel, even if they are inside the United States.

And let’s start with Chicago and Baltimore. Not the entirety of both cities, of course. There are some very nice tourist destinations in each. But there are some neighborhoods where it’s simply not safe to go without some form of protection. And since you’re not allowed to carry your own defensive firearms when visiting those areas, people should be aware.

Sure, a suggestion like this is going to offend some people, but let’s think about it for a moment. If you go to the State Department website where they list all of the travel advisories, they break them down into four categories. Level 1 is described as "Use Normal Caution" and it covers countries ranging from Andorra to New Zealand. Level 2 urges travelers to "Exercise Increased Caution." That includes some rather sketchy places like Columbia, Uganda, and Ecuador. But it also includes Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.

By the time we reach Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) we’re into some definitely risky turf. There are 16 countries on this list and it includes Haiti, Pakistan, Lebanon, Honduras, and Chad. Finally, we reach Level 4 which flatly states "Do Not Travel." Thirteen nations have earned this "honor." You can probably guess most of them, like North Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Venezuela. If you go there without a military escort you’re probably just begging to be killed or taken away to prison.

So if we were going to do tourists the favor of warning them away from the rougher neighborhoods in Chicago and Baltimore, what category would they fall into? While this study from Chicago Magazine dates back seven years, they took a look at this precise question. Kabul Province in Afghanistan (a Level 4 region) with a population of 3.5 million actually had a lower murder rate for civilians than Chicago. And Baltimore, looked at on a per capita basis, has a murder rate that’s even worse. Should we be creating a new Level 5 to describe these cities?

#1  Beat officer in Baltimore told me he will not allow his wife to go into Baltimore. Then at this time for some time now Baltimore has been exporting its problems to other communities outside Baltimore. The offer of two thousand dollars to relocate has been mentioned. So they locate in small communities and bring their ways with them. Crime, drugs, all variety of problems to areas not staffed for such an influx. Dramatic increase as seen in local hospital admissions. The Obama ways actively practiced in Baltimore.
Posted by: Dale || 06/20/2019 7:28 Comments || Top||

#2  This website provides excellent crime data on Chicago. In general, neighborhoods colored dark red need to be avoided like the plague.

Murder stats can be deceiving since US emergency rooms have gotten so good at saving multible gunshot victims.

Baltimore's murder rate is actually a result of it's lousy emergency rooms being much worse than Chicago or Detroit.

Government
The VA is improving because it's using more private healthcare
[Washington Examiner] Recently, the battle over the future of veterans healthcare increased in intensity because arguably the two most prominent politicians in the country weighed in on the issue, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and President Trump.

At a town hall in April, Ocasio-Cortez criticized the Trump administration’s efforts to expand healthcare choice for veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs and said in regards to the VA that "if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it." It isn’t surprising that Ocasio-Cortez would vigorously defend the VA while attacking reforms meant to give veterans more private healthcare options. Many of her ideological partners, such as Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., consider the VA a model government-run healthcare system and a positive example of "socialism in action."

A week later, Trump responded to Ocasio-Cortez with a tweet that seemingly agreed with her assertion that the VA is performing well. Underlying his tweet was the implication that the uptick in performance is due to legislation he signed into law that increased choice for veterans and accountability for VA employees ‐ bills Ocasio-Cortez and her allies have criticized.

This exchange between the president and AOC predictably set off a debate about who was right and who was wrong about the VA. Unfortunately, in a world of 280-character tweets and cable news segments that are clipped and shared without context, it is difficult to convey a nuanced position about any public policy issue, including the future of the VA. The reality is the VA is neither completely fixed nor completely broken but is instead an institution at a crossroads with an opportunity to break the cycle of reform and failure that has plagued it since its inception. This is especially true with the recent launch of the Veterans Community Care Program which, if properly implemented, will substantially increase healthcare freedom for veterans through the VA and improve access to medical services.

Even as someone who has been highly critical of the agency for years, I have to admit the VA has made some improvement since the deadly 2014 waitlist scandal.

Trump's Orlando Speech: Unprecedented and Remarkable
[American Thinker] Watching live TV coverage of President Trump at his Orlando rally announcing his reelection campaign, I was blown away by Trump's unprecedented, straightforward honesty. With no holds barred, Trump told the American people the truth about numerous important issues which have been lied about or hidden by fake news media. I thought, "My goodness, the president just gave the American people a year's worth of truthful news in one speech." I guarantee that Americans who only watch fake news media heard for the first time during Trump's speech that the Mueller investigation of Trump did not find any collusion with Russia. Trump's speech was probably the first time many heard about Hillary Clinton's corrupt illegal behavior before, during, and after her failed run for the White House. Trump's speech was probably the first time many Americans learned that Democrats shockingly passed legislation to kill babies on their birthday and seek to pass legislation to kill babies even after they are born.

Trump touted his remarkable long list of economic, cultural, and freedom-enhancing achievements for We the People. Folks, I am telling you, many Americans were hearing all the great things Trump has done for America for the first time.

Enjoying my cup of Red Rooibos tea, I internally cheered every time Trump told his huge audience another truth about the evils Democrats, the deep state and fake news media are perpetrating upon America and their traitorous attempts to undermine his presidency. Republicans typically do not push back the way Trump does in public speeches and social media. Democrats and fake news media routinely kick our butts in the court of public opinion by attacking Republicans with lies and every gutter, lowlife, and dirty trick in their playbook. In response, Republican consultants and advisers always say, "play nice," "take the high road," and "remain presidential." Such advice drives me nuts. We (Republicans) always stupidly bring an olive branch to a gun fight. Trump understands the battle in which we are engaged for the heart and soul of America. He fights back with the appropriate weapons and intensity.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard shoots down US Navy MQ-4C Triton drone
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s Revolutionary Guard shot down a U.S. drone on Thursday amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over its collapsing nuclear deal with world powers, American and Iranian officials said, while disputing the circumstances of the incident.

The Guard said it shot down the drone over Iranian airspace, while two U.S. officials told The Associated Press that the downing happened over international airspace in the Strait of Hormuz. The different accounts could not be immediately reconciled.

Previously, the U.S. military alleged that Iran had fired a missile at another drone last week that was responding to the attack on two oil tankers near the Gulf of Oman. The U.S. blames Iran for the attack on the ships; Tehran denies it was involved.

The attacks come against the backdrop of heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran following President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from Tehran’s nuclear deal a year ago. The White House separately said it was aware of reports of a missile strike on Saudi Arabia amid a campaign targeting the kingdom by Yemen’s Iranian-allied Houthi rebels.

Iran recently quadrupled its production of low-enriched uranium and threatened to boost its enrichment closer to weapons-grade levels, trying to pressure Europe for new terms to the 2015 nuclear deal.

In recent weeks, the U.S. has sped an aircraft carrier to the Mideast and deployed additional troops to the tens of thousands already in the region. From Yemen, the Houthis have launched bomb-laden drones into neighboring Saudi Arabia.

Yes, there's an ongoing debate about certain aspects of the U-2's flexibility but at the end of the day we aren't building any new ones. Without knowing a lot about exactly where and how high it was flying it's all just speculation, but at altitude there's nothing inside Iranian airspace that the Triton could not have imaged from international airspace.

TV: Defense officials believe lack of US military response could embolden Iran

Senior Israeli defense officials believe Iran could be emboldened if the United States does not respond militarily to a number of recent attacks it has blamed on Tehran, according to Channel 13 news.

The network says the estimation in the Israeli defense establishment is that Iran’s recent actions in the Persian Gulf were motivated by its belief that US President Donald Trump wants to avoid a military conflict.

Separately, the Kan public broadcaster reports there is concern in Israel that Iran could order its proxies in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon or Syria, to launch an attack against the Jewish state in order to signal to the US that any military action against it could lead to a major conflagration in the region.

Lebanon: Captagon Drug Baron Arrested in Coordination with KSA
[AnNahar] The Internal Security Forces on Wednesday said they arrested a "prominent" drug trafficking baron suspected of smuggling large shipments of the amphetamine-like drug captagon to at least six countries.

The 31-year-old suspect "had been professionally smuggling captagon to Arab countries for around six years," the ISF said, without naming the man.

He confessed to carrying out "12 smuggling operations to Egypt, Qatar

," it said in a statement.

He was "one of the most prominent of those involved" in smuggling captagon from Leb to the Gulf, the statement said.

He was arrested in the Bekaa Valley
...isn’t the Bekaa Valley Hezbollah country? D’you suppose they are somehow connected?
in a bust coordinated with Saudi Arabia's Directorate of Narcotics Control, it said.

Four other members of the same smuggling network -- two Lebanese and two Syrians -- were also arrested, according to the statement.

Captagon is an amphetamine manufactured in Leb and probably also in Syria and Iraq, mainly for consumption in Saudi Arabia, according to the French Observatory for Drugs and Drug Addiction (OFDT).

It is also one of the most commonly used drugs in the Syrian war, where fighters say it helps them stay awake for days and numbs their senses, giving them stamina for long battles and allowing them to kill with abandon.

Leb has previously stopped several shipments of the drug to Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia.

In May, it arrested a Saudi man at Beirut airport carrying about 10 kilograms of the drug.

In April, it seized more than 800,000 pills worth around $12 million (10.7 million euros) in a bust coordinated with Saudi authorities.

In one of the country's largest busts, Leb arrested a Saudi prince and four other Saudi nationals in October 2015 for attempting to smuggle out nearly two tons of captagon via Beirut's airport.

Regime Attacks Kill 25 in Syria's Idlib
[AnNahar] Regime attacks killed 16 civilians and nine combatants in Syria's jihadist-run northwest on Wednesday, a war monitor said, the latest violence to rattle a region housing three million people.

Eleven non-combatants were killed in regime air strikes on a village in the Jabal al-Zawiya region of southeastern Idlib province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The bombardment destroyed shops and ripped apart bodies, according to an AFP photographer, who found human remains more than a hundred metres away from the site of the strike.

Rescue workers were seen pulling bodies from under the rubble.

Four other non-combatants were killed in air raids on nearby towns and villages in southern Idlib, while one civilian died in air strikes on the edges of Idlib's eponymous bucolic provincial capital, the Britannia-based Observatory said.

In the north of nearby Hama province, regime rocket fire killed 9 jihadists, a day after fierce festivities in the area left at least 55 combatants dead, including 14 regime fighters, the war monitor reported.

After three weeks stranded off Tunisia, migrant group to be repatriated
[AlAhram] Tunisia has allowed dozens of migrants colonists, mostly from Bangladesh, to disembark after three weeks stranded in the Mediterranean, so that they can return to their home countries, the Red Islamic Thingy said on Wednesday.

An Egyptian boat rescued the migrants colonists in Tunisian waters last month. But local authorities in the governorate of Medinine said its migrant centres were too overcrowded to let them ashore, leaving the vessel stranded 25 km off the coastal city of Zarzis.

"After they were stranded for three weeks at sea in difficult conditions, Tunisia agreed to dock the ship, and migrants colonists accepted to return to their countries in coming days," Red Islamic Thingy official Mongi Slim told Rooters.

Among the group who set off from Libya, 64 are from Bangladesh while nine are Egyptians, one is Moroccan and one Sudanese, the Red Islamic Thingy said.

All migrants colonists will immediately be deported to their countries, except for the migrant from Sudan who has asked for asylum.

"We thank Tunisia's renewed commitment to life and dignity", said Lorena Lando, the head of the International Organization for Migration in Tunisia.

She added that it is urgent to put in place a collaborative approach to helping migrants colonists in the Mediterranean.

Neighbouring Libya's west coast is a frequent departure point for African migrants colonists hoping to reach Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
by paying human traffickers. But their numbers have dropped after an Italian-led effort to disrupt smuggling networks and support the Libyan coastguard.

At least 65 migrants colonists drowned last month when their boat capsized off Tunisia after setting out from Libya.

In the first four months of 2019, 164 people are known to have died on the route, a smaller number but a higher death rate than in previous years, with one dying for every three who reach European shores, the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR said.

Saudi-Led Coalition Intercepts New Yemeni Rebel Drone
[AnNahar] A Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
intercepted a Huthi rebel drone targeting the kingdom, a front man said Wednesday, calling it another violation of an already fragile ceasefire in a key Red Sea province.

The unmanned drone was shot down in Yemeni airspace after the Iran-aligned rebels launched it from Hodeida province, coalition front man Turki al-Maliki said in comments carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.

Maliki did not report any casualties, but said the operation was a breach of the Hodeida ceasefire deal reached in Sweden last December between the rebels and Yemen's Saudi-backed government.

The deal has already been marred by reported violations on both sides as UN-led peace efforts falter in Hodeida, the main entry point for the bulk of Yemen's imports and humanitarian aid.

The rebels denied carrying out Wednesday's attack. Huthi-run al-Masirah TV quoted a front man as saying "no such operation has been conducted in the past 12 hours".

Persistent coalition bombing since the Saudi-led intervention March 2015 has exacted a heavy civilian corpse count in Yemen.

The Huthis have stepped up missile and drone attacks on Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
in recent weeks, warning that its airports are legitimate targets.

Last Wednesday, the coalition said a rebel missile attack on Abha airport left 26 civilians maimed, vowing "stern action" in response.

Human Rights Watch denounced the strike as an apparent "war crime", urging the Huthis to immediately stop all attacks on civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

The attacks come amid spiralling regional tensions with Iran, which Saudi Arabia has repeatedly accused of arming the rebels with sophisticated weapons. Tehran denies the charge.

The coalition intervened in support of the Yemeni government in 2015 when President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi fled into Saudi exile as the rebels closed in on his last remaining territory in and around second city Aden.

Since then, the conflict has killed tens of thousands of people, many of them civilians, relief agencies say.

Russia, China, block US effort to halt North Korea fuel deliveries
[IsraelTimes] Russia and China blocked an American initiative that aimed to halt fuel deliveries to North Korea, which Washington accuses of exceeding its annual ceiling for 2019, diplomatic sources say.

Moscow and Beijing said more time was needed to study the US request, which was backed by 25 UN members including Japan, La Belle France and Germany, according to the sources.

A week ago, the United States, in a report, accused North Korea of breaching the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
-imposed ceiling on fuel imports by carrying out dozens of ship-to-ship transfers.

The cap on fuel imports is among a series of tough sanctions adopted by the UN Security Council in response to North Korea’s ballistic missile and nuclear tests.

The United States insists that "maximum pressure" from the sanctions must remain on North Korea until it agrees to dismantle its weapons program.

Israel to process Gaza sewage with new pipeline – report

It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, the sewage treatment system there collapsed in 2017, resulting in thousands of cubic meters of raw sewage spilling into the Israeli side daily.

An interim solution had been to collect the sewage and pump it via the existing network to the treatment plant that serves Sderot and the surrounding communities, the report said. But the additional wastewater from the Paleostinian towns had overloaded the system and caused the sewage pipeline to burst, resulting in pollution and a foul odor on the Israeli side.

Work is expected to start this month on the new pipeline, which will run along the northern border between Gaza and Israel through agricultural fields and be connected to the regional sewage treatment plant on the Israeli side, the report said.

Israel will fund the NIS 15 million ($4 million) bill for the new sewage line by deducting the cost from the tax revenues it transfers to the Paleostinian Authority in the West Bank, Yedioth reported.

His rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, including the two major black candidates in the contest, roundly criticized Biden’s comments. But Biden didn’t back down and was particularly defiant in the face of criticism from New Jersey Sen. Cory Spartacus Booker
U.S. Senator-for-Life from Noo Joisey, formerly the mayor of Newark. Booker is a candidate for president in 2020, running on a platform of Make America Newark. He once wrote an essay on how to grope babes. He is noted for having an imaginary friend named T-Bone...
, who said the former vice president should apologize for his remarks.

Biden countered that it was Booker who should apologize because the senator "should know better" than to question his commitment to civil rights.

"There’s not a racist bone in my body," Biden said. "I’ve been involved in civil rights my whole career."

Speaking on CNN, Booker responded: "I was raised to speak truth to power and that I shall never apologize for doing that. And Vice President Biden shouldn’t need this lesson."

The firestorm is quickly becoming one of the most intense disputes of the Democratic presidential primary, underscoring the hazards for Biden as he tries to turn his decades of Washington experience into an advantage. Instead, he’s infuriating Democrats who say he’s out of step with the diverse party of the 21st century and potentially undermining his argument that he’s the most electable candidate in the race.

The controversy began at a New York fundraiser Tuesday when Biden pointed to long-dead segregationist senators James Eastland of Mississippi and Herman Talmadge of Georgia to argue that Washington functioned more smoothly a generation ago than under today’s "broken" hyperpartisanship.

"We didn’t agree on much of anything," Biden said of the two men, who were prominent senators when Biden was elected in 1972. Biden described Talmadge as "one of the meanest guys I ever knew" and said Eastland called him "son," though not "boy," a reference to the racist way many whites addressed black men at the time.

Yet even in that Senate, Biden said, "At least there was some civility. We got things done."

A pile on from Biden’s rivals quickly ensued. Booker said he was disappointed by Biden’s remarks.

"I have to tell Vice President Biden, as someone I respect, that he is wrong for using his relationships with Eastland and Talmadge as examples of how to bring our country together," said Booker, who is African American.

Mexico pledges 6K troops to help combat illegal immigration amid heightened pressure from U.S.
[OANN] Mexico is planning to deploy thousands of troops to its southern border amid heightened pressure from the Trump administration to crack down on the Central American migrant crisis. According to Mexican officials Monday, the country has already sent over 400 military personnel to the town of Tapachula near its border with Guatemala this past week.

"Since Saturday 426 soldiers from the National Guard have arrived in Tapachula," announced Maximilano Reyes, Mexican Undersecretary of State for Latin America and the Caribbean. "President Obrador and the Foreign Minister have said that 6,000 will be sent in total, but that does not mean that all 6,000 are going to disembark here."

This comes after Mexico pledged earlier this month to ramp up its efforts to stop the flow of South American migrants colonists traveling through Mexico and illegally crossing into the U.S.

Britain
Scottish MP slams PM hopeful Johnson as racist, says he is unfit to govern UK
[PRESSTV] The top Scottish member of the British parliament has denounced the main candidate seeking to become the country’s next prime minister, saying he is a "racist" who cannot be trusted to lead the United Kingdom.

Ian Blackford said during a Wednesday debate of the House of Commons that Johnson, who is leading the Conservative Party leadership race by a large margin, had a well-known record of insulting communities in the UK.

"Does the prime minister realize, not only is the member racist, he is stoking division in communities and has a record of dishonesty?" said Blackford while posing a question to outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May.

Blackford resisted a call from the Commons speaker John Bercow to withdraw his comments about Johnson, who is a current member of the parliament.

"The member has called Moslem women ’letterboxes’, described African people as having ’watermelon smiles’, and another disgusting slur that I would never dignify by repeating," said the Scottish MP, adding, "If that’s not racist, Mr Speaker, I don’t know what is.

Man nabbed for Bronx rape allegedly said she ‘deserved it’ for ‘slavery’
[NYPOST] A black parolee arrested for raping and bashing a white woman on the roof of his Bronx apartment building allegedly told a witness that she "deserved" the brutal attack because of slavery, according to court papers.

"She was a white girl. She deserved it because us minorities have been through slavery," Temar Bishop, 23, allegedly said to someone who witnessed the bloodied 20-year-old woman after the assaults, according to a criminal complaint.

"This is what they used to do to us. This is what they did to us during slavery. They used to beat us and whip us."

Temar Bishop, 23, was arrested by authorities on Friday in Virginia on a slew of charges connected to the early morning June 1 assault, which officials have deemed a hate crime, according to authorities.

The 20-year-old met Bishop ‐ who was on parole after serving just over a year behind bars for robbery ‐ around 5 a.m. and joined him on the rooftop of the public housing building on Alexander Avenue near East 137th Street in Mott Haven, police said.

Bishop allegedly punched her repeatedly before raping her, then continued his assault ‐ kicking and punching her in the head and body until she fell unconscious, cops said.

He then fled, but returned with the unnamed witness ‐ who saw the woman "laying on the roof landing with blood covering her face" ‐ and then allegedly made the remarks about slavery, court documents say.

The woman was treated at an area hospital for several injuries, including a broken nose and broken teeth. She was also "vomiting blood," the complaint states.

Police sources previously told The Post a Special Victims Division investigator described the attack as "one of the worst he’s ever seen."

Bishop was charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault, attempted murder, rape, two counts of assault, sexual abuse, assault and a hate crime.

The passengers of Jinnah Express and those travelling by other trains that had to be stopped owing to the incident stranded for over four hours at various railway stations, an official source said.

"The fire erupted in the 32-down Jinnah Express’s dining car around 4pm when it was passing the Harrapa railway station on its way to Karachi. The dining car staff members tried to extinguish the fire on their own but when they failed to do so, a staff member pulled the chain to have the train stopped," the source told Dawn.

He said police and Rescue 1122 teams responded to the emergency calls as did the officials of the Pakistain Railways. The teams extinguished fire and detached the affected dining car from the passenger coaches. They completed the process in four hours or so.

The PR administration also ordered an inquiry to know about the reasons behind eruption of fire in the dining car of the train. "An inquiry team will conduct probe into the incident and submit its report to the PR’s CEO within next three days or so," another source said.

Science & Technology
To Hack or Not To Hack - US cyber strategy
A taste:
[ZeihanOnGeopolitics] The New York Times dropped a fun piece last week asserting a coalition of like-minded national security and intelligence professionals are neck-deep in an offensive cyber operation against the Russian electricity system. The article suggests the hacking was meant to provide a cudgel to beat Russia with should it intervene in American elections again. The real kicker was the assertion made by a host of anonymous sources that not only was U.S. President Donald Trump unaware of the operation, but that the sources were afraid to tell him for fear the White House would shut the operation down.

There’s a bit of peeling required for this particular onion:

Computerization didn’t happen all at once. At first computers were multi-billion-dollar monuments of circuitry that only major governments could afford, to be used "simply" to compute complicated math (ergo the term computer). They certainly weren’t hooked into civilian infrastructure. Besides, there was nothing to "hook" into. Pre-1980s tech was analogue and manual, not digital and automatic.

Fast forward to the 1980s and this changed rapidly. The marriage of now-more-attainable computers to telephony brought us modems long before it brought us smartphones. That linkage enabled the first computer networks to snake through the worlds of finance, media, energy, academia and manufacturing. As computers became ubiquitous, the possibility of extreme damage being inflicted upon the average American citizen expanded exponentially.

A new policy was required for this new era.

The president at the time was Ronald Reagan. His executive guidance was threefold:

First, the U.S. government would provide no cyber protection to any part of the civilian system. Individual firms and citizens were wholly responsible for protecting their computer systems from outside threats.

Second, the U.S. government would maintain an absolutely massive hacker corps with standing orders to hack everything and put malware and backdoors into every imaginable foreign system.

Third, the U.S. would deign to identify precisely where its red lines were.

These three points explain why it is so simple for Nigerians to defraud your grandmother, why the Russians could interfere in the U.S. elections with ease, and why everyone is so afraid to go after the really important stuff: infrastructure in the United States. In essence, America’s cyber policy is a lot like the rest of its armed forces: you can poke and prod the exposed flanks of the behemoth and you might or might not get swiped at for your trouble, but if you ever do something that really draws its attention, well... you’d better have a great bunker.

In the event the U.S. ever did decide to cut loose, it would have a remarkably shitty quarter. The lack of cyberdefense would ensure that power grids would fail, vulnerable city bureaucracies would be left helpless, and all the businesses that forgot to update their Windows operating system from last decade’s would find they no longer have computers. In other words, it would hurt. But whoever the U.S. was going to war with would find themselves facing off against nearly four decades of surveillance, planning, and preparation by skilled, vengeful nerds. In the best-case scenario (for the targets), they would regress a century as everything from power to water to communications to shipping simply seized up, never coming on-line again until a complete computer-free overhaul was completed.

The Reagan administration’s guidance on cyber sat broadly unchanged for the next four presidents. Offensive cyber was used rarely and the U.S. refuses to discuss it. It is only under Donald Trump that some shifts have occurred. In Trump’s early months as executive the U.S. government leaked it had done something I find hilarious:

It didn’t simply identify the specific Russian agents who had interfered in the United States’ 2016 presidential elections, it sent cease-and-desist letters to those agents at their home addresses complete with enough personal touches to drive home to the Russian hackers that the U.S. government knew more about their personal lives than the Russian government itself.

What all this makes clear is that the U.S. realized it had undersold itself and underutilized its tools, which is quite literally the last thing you want to do with a deterrent. But times are changing and so, it appears, the pace of operations is picking up.

Afghanistan
Officials Visit Helmand To Assess Security Situation
[ToloNews] Gen. Scott Miller, Commander of US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
Forces in Afghanistan, and Afghan high ranking security officials on Tuesday visited Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province to assess security situation in the province.

General Miller said he understands the importance of Helmand, and in order to better secure the province, foreign forces will have the necessary cooperation with the Afghan forces.

"Everyone’s responsibility as big shots is to make sure they are as properly trained and prepared as possible. The families expect us to pay them, feed them, and protect them. I know the importance of this province and I know the difficulty of operating it in Helmand, but at the same time I know what you have achieved over the last year in Helmand. And the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
know what you’ve achieved. Resolute Support to our commander in Helmand continues to be firmly in support of all that you are doing," said Miller.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Cynthia backed into the galley, the barbecue fork held in front of her.
Jack! she called. Where the hell are you?...

Deputy Defense Minister Yasin Zia and Khoshal Sadat Senior Deputy Minister of Interior for Security assured that beside addressing security forces problems in the insecure areas more areas under Taliban control will be freed from their control.

"We recently freed two districts in Ghazni province and we assure the people of Helmand that, in addition to supporting the security forces, we also support people who are interested in protecting their homeland and we are prepared for freeing our every meter of land from the enemy control and we have plans and good news are on the way," said Deputy Defense Minister Yasin Zia.

Sadat said that the Taliban’s plans to capture Helmand has failed over the past seventeen years.

"In the past seventeen years, the enemies have been struggling to bring down the Helmand province or want to hurt our security forces, maybe we had casualties, but the enemy has been destroyed and the nation only suffer and we are trying to remove the space between the nation and the forces and the enemy did not achieved anything," said Sadat.

Helmand is one of the insecure provinces in the south of the country.

FBI, warned early and often that Manafort file might be fake, used it anyway
[THEHILL] When the final chapter of the Russia collusion caper is written, it is likely two seminal documents the FBI used to justify investigating Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
’s 2016 campaign will turn out to be bunk.

And the behavior of FBI agents and federal prosecutors who promoted that faulty evidence may disturb us more than we now know.

The first, the Remington Christopher Steele dossier, has received enormous attention. And the more scrutiny it receives, the more its truthfulness wanes. Its credibility has declined so much that many now openly question how the FBI used it to support a surveillance warrant against the Trump campaign in October 2016.

At its best, the Steele dossier is an "unverified and salacious" political research memo funded by Trump’s Democratic rivals. At worst, it may be Russian disinformation worthy of the "garbage" label given it by esteemed news hound Bob Woodward.

The second document, known as the "black cash ledger," remarkably has escaped the same scrutiny, even though its emergence in Ukraine in the summer of 2016 forced Paul Manafort to resign as Trump's campaign chairman and eventually face U.S. indictment.

In search warrant affidavits, the FBI portrayed the ledger as one reason it resurrected a criminal case against Manafort that was dropped in 2014 and needed search warrants in 2017 for bank records to prove he worked for the Russian-backed Party of Regions in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s top anticorruption prosecutor, Nazar Kholodnytsky, told me he warned the U.S. State Department’s law enforcement liaison and multiple FBI agents in late summer 2016 that Ukrainian authorities who recovered the ledger believed it likely was a fraud.
There’s just one problem: The FBI’s public reliance on the ledger came months after the feds were warned repeatedly that the document couldn’t be trusted and likely was a fake, according to documents and more than a dozen interviews with knowledgeable sources.

For example, Ukraine’s top anticorruption prosecutor, Nazar Kholodnytsky, told me he warned the U.S. State Department’s law enforcement liaison and multiple FBI agents in late summer 2016 that Ukrainian authorities who recovered the ledger believed it likely was a fraud.

"It was not to be considered a document of Manafort. It was not authenticated. And at that time it should not be used in any way to bring accusations against anybody," Kholodnytsky said, recalling what he told FBI agents.

Likewise, Manafort’s Ukrainian business partner Konstantin Kilimnik, a regular informer for the State Department, told the U.S. government almost immediately after The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

wrote about the ledger in August 2016 that the document probably was fake.

Manafort "could not have possibly taken large amounts of cash across three borders. It was always a different arrangement ‐ payments were in wire transfers to his companies, which is not a violation," Kilimnik wrote in an email to a senior U.S. official on Aug. 22, 2016.

He added: "I have some questions about this black cash stuff, because those published records do not make sense. The timeframe doesn’t match anything related to payments made to Manafort. ... It does not match my records. All fees Manafort got were wires, not cash."

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team and the FBI were given copies of Kilimnik’s warning, according to three sources familiar with the documents.

Submitting knowingly false or suspect evidence ‐ whether historical or to support probable cause ‐ in a federal court proceeding violates FBI rules and can be a crime under certain circumstances. "To establish probable cause, the affiant must demonstrate a basis for knowledge and belief that the facts are true," the FBI operating manual states.

Second ex-Senate staffer charged in aiding doxxing of GOP senators
[THEHILL] A second ex-aide to Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) has been charged in connection with the leaking of Republican senators’ personal information during Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings last year, according to Politico.

Samantha Deforest Davis was charged Wednesday with evidence tampering and aiding and abetting computer fraud, according to the publication, and is expected to plead guilty to the two misdemeanors.

Another former aide to Hassan, Jackson Cosko, is facing more than four years in prison after he pleaded guilty to felony charges involving copying sensitive data and publishing the home addresses and phone numbers of Sens. Lindsey Graham
... the South Carolina RINO, fellow maverick of Honest John McCain...
(R-S.C.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), as well as then-Sen. Orrin Hatch
...former Republican Senator-for-Life from Utah. His successor was Mitt Romney, former Republican presidential candidate who used to be governor of Massachussetts...
(R-Utah).

Davos, whose office keys Cosko used to access Hassan’s office after being fired, allegedly did not give Cosko permission to use the keys the first time but later loaned him the keys and agreed to wipe his fingerprints from office computers, according to Politico.

Cosko initially intended to harass his former colleagues, who he held responsible for his firing, but has admitted he eventually used the data to publish the personal information during Kavanaugh’s hearings, according to the publication.

Davis, who worked as a legislative correspondent for Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) this year, does not yet have a arraignment date set.

"Senator Hassan appreciates the work of Capitol Police and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in pursuing justice in this case," Hassan's communications director Aaron Jacobs told The Hill in a statement.

A spokesperson for Spanberger told The Hill the congresswoman's office could not comment on internal staffing matters.

Iraq
Iraqi army deploys troops between Kirkuk and Makhmour to prevent ISIS movements
[Rudaw] The Iraqi Army has deployed troops on the Makhmour-Dibis road, to prevent movements from remnants of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) the Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday.

The ministry added that the deployment is to fill a security void left by lack of any presence of armed forces in the mountainous region near Qarachogh and its surrounding villages.

Security Control, 14th Infantry Division of the Iraqi Army is tasked with securing the area.

The division is responsible for laying out ambushes, setting up checkpoints, carrying out raids, and filling the security vacuum between the villages of Pungina and Bir Mehdi, near Mount Qarachogh.

Dibis, in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
province, is 56 kilometres south of Erbil. Makhmour, in Kirkuk province, is 60 kilometres southwest of the Kurdistan Region capital.

Rashad Galali, head of the PUK office in Makhmour told Rudaw that upon a decree from Baghdad "the 14th Infantry Division has been incorporated into the Kirkuk Operations Command and they have been deployed along the [Makhmour-Dibis] road."

between 14,000 and 18,000 ISIS gunnies are estimated to still be operating in Iraq and Syria, according to a UN report in February.

ISIS hard boys, keen to recuperate their strength following their territorial defeat in Iraq, have now set their sights on the spring harvest of 27 villages on both sides of the Qarachogh mountains.

ISIS cells hiding out in the Qarachogh mountains have torched several local crop fields in recent weeks as farmers have refused to pay taxes that the gunnies are demanding.

PKK suspects apprehended in raids across 5 European states
[Rudaw] Two suspected members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), accused of recruiting and training "terrorist fighters", were apprehended in a wide-scale crackdown on the group in five Europe

an countries.

The two suspects were apprehended "after a number of house searches conducted simultaneously in five countries", Europol said in a statement on Wednesday. They have not been named.

The operation, carried out jointly by Eurojust and Europol, saw raids in Austria, Belgium, La Belle France, Germany, and Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
, the statement added.

"Europol’s European Counter Terrorism Centre set up a coordination centre on a joint action day to support the operations of the law enforcement authorities in all countries concerned," it said.

The Belgian Prosecutor’s Office initiated a criminal investigation into the organization in 2017.

Those apprehended allegedly belong to the PKK’s armed wing ‐ the People’s Defence Forces (HPG).

Europol and Eurojust accused them of "recruiting terrorist fighters" and "using training camps and sessions in various countries".

The PKK, an gang fighting for greater Kurdish political and cultural rights in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
, is considered a terrorist organization by Ankara, the EU, and the US, for its decades-long war with the Ottoman Turkish state.

Earlier this year, German authorities shut down two Kurdish publishing houses, alleging the companies were giving the PKK financial backing.

According to German authorities, there are around 14,500 PKK supporters in Germany. In 2008, Germany banned Roj TV for its alleged ties to the PKK.

Late last year the US announced cash rewards for information on three senior PKK leaders, including Murat Karayilan, Cemil Bayik and Duran Kalkan.

A fierce battle between the PKK and Turkey is ongoing in the southeast of Turkey, spilling over into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The group uses the Region as a safe haven and is currently headquartered in the Qandil Mountains.

Turkey has repeatedly launched cross-border incursions and bombing raids targeting the group, in violation of Iraq’s illusory sovereignty.

Both Erbil and Baghdad have called on Ankara to halt its attacks and demanded the PKK withdraw from their territory.

Britain
Londonistan: Fifth Killing in Six Days After Street Knife ‘Battle'
[Breitbart] A 38-year-old man has been stabbed to death after a fight in a London neighbourhood that one witness described as a "full-on battle".

London’s Metropolitan Police were called to Welbeck Road in Barnet, north London, at 10:50 p.m. on Tueday to reports of a fight, with three men ‐ a 38-year-old, a 34-year-old, and a 25-year-old ‐ being taken to hospital. The two younger men are said to not be in life-threatening condition, but the oldest victim was pronounced dead shortly after midnight, reports the BBC.

Witnesses told the Evening Standard that the victim was killed during a street fight between two groups who were armed with chains, broom handles, and knives in what was described as a "family area" of Barnet.

"There were three of them on the floor and blood everywhere. One had a hole in his arm like a dog had ripped it," a resident told the London evening newspaper.

They added: "There was a knife sheath on the ground and a chain nearby. It was a full-on battle. The ones who attacked them came around the back of the victim’s house, they must have known him. They chase them on to the street. There was blood even on the cars. It was brutal."

The suspected murder is the fifth killing in London in six days. In the early hours of Monday morning, a man was fatally stabbed in Stratford, east London. On Saturday, 30-year-old Gleb Stanislavovitch Zhebrovsky was stabbed to death in Tower Hamlets, east London. And on Friday, Cheyton Evans, 18, was fatally stabbed in Wandsworth, while Eniola Aluko, 19, was shot dead in Plumstead.

After Scotland Yard had opened three homicide investigations in 24 hours on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump weighed in to criticise London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan for his handling of rising crime in the British capital.

"LONDON needs a new mayor ASAP. Khan is a disaster ‐ will only get worse!" President Trump said, adding: "[Khan] is a national disgrace who is destroying the City of London!"

According to a review by the Greater London Assembly Conservatives of crime statistics, under the Labour mayor gun crime has risen by 30 per cent, knife crime has risen by 52 per cent, and homicides by 24 per cent.

Liberal group presses Democratic chairman to file lawsuit for Trump's tax returns quickly
Kabuki for the rubes. As I recall, it was the Secretary of the Treasury who said Congress has no legitimate interest to see such things, and therefore the president’s tax returns will not be shared with them.
[THEHILL] The Red Guards liberal group Stand Up America
501(c)(4) non-profit organization founded in the weeks after the 2016 U.S. presidential election to resist Donald Trump's election agenda. It began as a Facebook community started by Sean Eldridge, which grew to over a million people, and evolved into a national advocacy campaign focused on resisting the president's alleged corruption, ties to Russia, and his legislative agenda. It was part of the People's Defense Coalition, which tried to block the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. The group helped organize the national Tax March on April 15, 2017, which called for the release of Trump's tax returns, and in May 2017, the group launched a national campaign demanding an independent investigation into Trump's ties to Russia. The group supports the Not One Penny campaign, opposing tax cuts for the wealthy...
announced on Wednesday that it's launching a new campaign to pressure House Boodle Central Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.) to immediately file a lawsuit over the Treasury Department's failure to comply with his requests for President Trump's tax returns.

Stand Up America said that its campaign will involve volunteers sending text messages to people in Neal's district, urging them to contact the congressman's office to demand that he promptly file the lawsuit.

Stand Up America's new effort comes one month after Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin rejected Neal's subpoena for six years of Trump's tax returns. Earlier this month, the House passed a resolution that gives committee chairmen more legal authority to enforce subpoenas.

In 2016, Trump became the first major party presidential nominee in decades to decline to release his returns, which Democrats say must be examined for instances of corruption or conflict of interest.

Neal has taken a careful approach to seeking Trump's tax returns, and he has said that he plans to file a lawsuit in the near future. But some progressives have been frustrated with the pace that Neal has taken on the tax-return issue and want him to move more quickly.

"The House of Representatives handed Chairman Neal the power to take Secretary Mnuchin to court to get Trump’s tax returns ‐ and he should use it," Stand Up America front man Ryan Thomas said. "Every day that Neal delays this process further, the Trump administration is able to make a mockery of Congress and deprive the American people of the transparency they deserve."

FBI: Syrian Refugee Who Pledged Allegiance to ISIS Arrested for Pittsburgh Church Bomb Plot
[BREITBART] U.S. authorities announced Wednesday the arrest of a 21-year-old Syrian man on terror charges in relation to an alleged plot to bomb a church in Pittsburgh.

Mustafa Mousab Alowemer was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with one count of "attempting to provide material support ISIS, and two counts of distributing information relating to an explosive, destructive device, or weapon of mass destruction in relation to his plan to attack a church," according to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh

The affidavit states the FBI’s Pittsburgh branch undercovered a plot by Alowemer to bomb the Legacy International Worship Center on the North Side.

"Our top priority is protecting the citizens of western Pennsylvania," said U.S. Attorney Brady in a statement. "Every day investigators and prosecutors work tirelessly behind the scenes to disrupt terrorist activity and keep our community safe. While the public does not always see the results of the hard work of these dedicated men and women, this case is a visible demonstration of our commitment to rooting out terrorists and bringing them to justice."

Information provided to law enforcement by the Department of Homeland Security shows Alowemer was born in Daraa, Syria and granted refugee status in the United States on August 1st, 2016. He is said to have recorded a video of himself pledging allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi. Both the FBI and local police are conducting a search of the suspect’s Northview Heights home.

"Targeting places of worship is beyond the pale, no matter what the motivation," Assistant Attorney General John Demers said. "The defendant is alleged to have plotted just such an attack of a church in Pittsburgh in the name of ISIS. The National Security Division and our partners will continue our efforts to identify and bring to justice individuals in our country who seek to commit violence on behalf of ISIS and other terrorist organizations. I want to thank the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who are responsible for this investigation."
PJMedia adds:
Alowemer also targeted the Church -- which he believed to be Christian and Nigerian -- to “take revenge for our [ISIS] brothers in Nigeria,” according to the complaint.

In May 2019, Alowemer distributed multiple instructional documents on how to build and use of explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to an undercover FBI agent who he believed was a fellow ISIS supporter, according to the Department of Justice.

Alowemer met with an FBI Undercover Employee (UCE) and/or an FBI Confidential Human Source (CHS) in person four times between April 16 and June 11.
And from NBC News:
Federal prosecutors say Alowemer was admitted to the U.S. as a refugee on Aug. 1, 2016. He went on to graduate from high school but does not hold a U.S. passport and is not a legal permanent resident of the U.S.

China May Be Preparing Muslims in Concentration Camps for Organ Harvesting
Why smart people don’t want to live under totalitarian regimes of any sort.
[Breitbart] A nonpartisan tribunal published a report Tuesday accusing China of "crimes against humanity," cutting organs out of Falun Gong practitioners alive to transplant into paying clients, and potentially preparing an "organ bank" using the millions of mostly Uighur Muslims believed trapped in concentration camps in western China.

The China Tribunal ‐ a panel of international legal experts led by Sir Geoffrey Nice, chief prosecutor in the case against Serbian war criminal Slobodan Milošević ‐ held hearings featuring victims of China’s brutal repression of Falun Gong practitioners and ethnic Uighurs as well as eyewitnesses who testified to seeing and participating in organ testing and harvesting. The tribunal repeatedly highlighted in its report that it attempted to contact the Chinese government and bring in witnesses favorable to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but China failed to cooperate.

It concluded that China is currently harvesting organs from Falun Gong practitioners and has begun extensive testing of its captive Uighur camp population that does not have any other overt utility outside of organ harvesting. It also concluded that "some Tibetan Buddhists and House Church Christians" (those who do not worship in government-run churches) have likely suffered forced organ harvesting.
The Uighurs will get no help from bought and paid for Biden. That is for sure.

#4  Maybe selling a group of smart and hard working people like the majority of the Han Chinese to the overseers picked by Stalin was a bad bad idea to begin with. You know sooner or later, after killing several holocausts worth of people, in their quest to remake a billion people in their image, they'd eventually stumble across one of western communism's sacred cows.

‘Fascist and tyrannical' or cultural preservation? Quebec passes controversial religious ban
[RT] Lawmakers in the Canadian province of Quebec have adopted a law banning public service employees from wearing religious symbols. Critics and advocates both see it as an attempt of the Francophone region to preserve its identity.

Bill 21 (Loi 21) was passed by a vote of 73-35 in the National Assembly on Sunday. It bars civil servants “in positions of authority” – such as teachers, police, and government lawyers – from wearing religious symbols. This includes Christian crucifixes, Muslim headscarves, Sikh turbans and Jewish yarmulkes, for instance.
Yarmulke wearers can easily move to baseball caps, as some community leaders have recommended in Germany and France — possibly elsewhere as well. It’s about covering, not the cover. The hijab could easily be replaced by a kerchief tied over the hair, if wearing it were not exactly the political statement it is accused of being.
Muslim women wearing the full face veil (burqa) will be directly affected by the provision requiring people giving or receiving government services to uncover their faces, for purposes of security or confirming identity.

Lawmakers also approved Bill 9, which imposes new French language and values tests for prospective immigrants intended to “protect Quebec identity.”

“Look, we can talk semantics all day long. You know and I know what this is all about,” legal and media analyst Lionel told RT, suggesting that the seemingly secular statute stood as a proxy for anti-immigrant sentiment.

“I do believe there is a mixture of this attempt to preserve the uniqueness of that province… and trying to ‘dress’ a certain immigration situation,” Antonio Rossini, professor at the University of Windsor in neighboring Ontario, agreed. “I doubt that this would have popped up in a different historical context.”

Rossini told RT that many Canadians tend to wear religious symbols not as a show of their faith, but as a statement about their identity and origin.

Posted by: Woodrow || 06/20/2019 6:23 Comments || Top||

#4  They call them 'personal laws' and gradually insinuate them into daily life. They are the necessary step towardsSharia. Muslim personal laws are fluid enough to flex and deform, appear as only moral precepts or mere clan rituals, allowing for their enactment into local laws and gradually into legislation, because ultimately democracy's a vote-based enterprise for the legislator. Unknown to most people, taquiya includes the concept of legal islamism. Islamists plod for decades lobbying with a liberal or symp with foresight defunct enough to accommodate their shit. And before you know it, you have sharia zones.

It starts with stuff like " It is a valued custom within our particular community for girls to be engaged at 15. Don't worry it's not marriage yet..." Before you know it you have child rape.

Or, " We always gather at such and such spot at this time of day for whatever..." Soon, there's a 'holy zone' where even your citizens can't walk around uncovered.

Or, "we believe girls should not wear scent and go out with open hair, Djinns..." next comes a stoning or honour killing explained as exorcism.

#11  Restating the obvious is not necessarily a bad thing. Not everybody knows what everybody else knows. I am forever being startled to discover yet another area of ignorance, especially here. I had not, for instance, despite knowing about the soft sharia of the law, really thought through what the process looks like on the ground. Nor had I thought in terms of the efficient cultural jihad rather than the poetic/rhetoric soft jihad of the law. So I have my learning for today, with thanks.

Dem. aide who doxxed Republican senators during confirmation hearing for SC Justice Brett Kavanaugh, sentenced to prison Wednesday
[DailyCaller] Self-Righteous Dem Staffer Headed To Prison As Prosecutors Look To Make Example Of Him For Politically-Motivated Crimes

A former Democratic congressional aide who doxxed Republican senators during a confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh will be sentenced to prison Wednesday.

Former computer administrator Jackson Cosko carried out what prosecutors said was the largest known data theft in Senate history and used it to blackmail a witness, to plot to extort a senator and to threaten others.

He left operational spy devices on the Senate network that went undetected by police even after he was arrested and his plot was discovered, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors are seeking to make an example of Cosko for criminally attacking people who disagreed with him politically, citing a rise in such incidents.

A former aide to Sen. Maggie Hassan and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is headed to prison Wednesday for what prosecutors said was the largest known data theft in Senate history.

Jackson Cosko, pleaded guilty in April to crimes related to an unparalleled effort to ransack a Senate office, extorting a Democratic senator, illegally harming Republicans for their political views, and blackmailing a witness.

Prosecutors asking for nearly five years in prison for Cosko, a one time congressional IT aide to Hassan. Cosko admitted he stole the New Hampshire Democrat's data out of revenge for being fired, then used it to doxx Republicans during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings.

An accomplice, who has since been fired, is Samantha DeForest-Davis. Hassan's office subsequently confirmed her identity, yet DeForest-Davis has not been charged with any crime?!

Then, during the confirmation hearings of now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Cosko used his House computer to post the stolen personal information of Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee to far left Wikipedia.

After Kentucky Republican Paul ‐ who was the victim of a physical assault and has been shot at ‐ demanded accountability for the mystery "doxxer," Cosko targeted Paul and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell "with the intent to intimidate them," posting their personal addresses and phone numbers, knowing that others would use the information to harass them, prosecutors said.

On Oct. 2, Cosko went back to Hassan's office for more after asking Deforest-Davis for her key. Terror Networks
Arson makes its way into the terrorist repertoire
[Rudaw] After several years of drought, farmers in Syria and Iraq were looking forward to the bountiful harvests that this season’s ample rainfall made possible. Across northern Iraq and Syria, however, seemingly endless fires decimate their wheat fields just before the harvest. In Shingal, the field fires threaten already battered Yezidi communities and raged across suspected mass graves.

In disputed territories, around places like Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
suspicions regarding the arsonists responsible for setting crops ablaze exacerbate already tense inter-ethnic relations. In Syria, communities around Raqqa and other recently liberated areas must now deal with more suffering as their fields burn.

At one point, as I recall, Al Qaeda put out a call for arson jihad. I believe a jihadi or two were caught — either in the act or afterward — but so were some mischievous illegal Hispanic types, some idiotic native gringo yoots, and the usual lightning bolts. So they didn’t get the advertising hit they were looking for, and seem to have given up the idea as pointless. Or maybe they’re still trying, but their efforts continue to be dwarfed by what would have occurred without them.

More of a concern would be knife, bomb, gun, and truck attacks in the cities... except they all seem to work out their plans with their FBI informant BFFs.

Chitral court sentences school gatekeeper to jail for causing teenage girl to commit suicide
[DAWN] A criminal court in Chitral on Wednesday sentenced a school gatekeeper to two and a half years of rigorous imprisonment after it found him guilty of causing a teenage girl to commit suicide.

The court had been hearing a two-year-old case pertaining to the suicide of a 17-year-old girl. The victim had been an FSc student in a government school in the far-flung village of Harchin in Upper Chitral's Laspur valley and had taken her own life in 2016.

The girl's mother told the court that her daughter had registered a complaint with police days before she took her own life no Aug 5, 2016, stating that Deedar Wali had been harassing her on her way to school and back home. She also informed the headmaster of the issue, but no action had been taken, the woman said.

She told the court that no one had taken the matter seriously, after which her daughter had become discouraged and did away with himself by consuming poison.

The girl's mother had then registered an FIR against Deedar Wali, a government employee at the school.

The court in its verdict sentenced Wali to rigorous imprisonment for two years under Section 354 of the Pakistain Penal Code (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and six months under Section 506 of PPC (punishment for criminal intimidation). Imprisonment under Section 506 will begin after the sentence awarded under Section 354 has expired.

According to rights groups working in the area, the number of suicides by women has been rising over the past few years. More than five cases have been reported over the past two months. Activists say that many cases go unreported due to lack of police action, family honour and other reasons. They regretted that police do not attempt to investigate suicide cases.

Saima Munir, an activist, told DawnNewsTV that the suicide rate in mountainous regions like Chitral, Swat

division is higher than urban areas. She described the situation in Chitral as particularly "alarming".

...mindless ferocity in a turban...
if the group eventually gets reintegrated and mainstreamed in the structure of the Afghan government.

Talking to TOLOnews, the former Indian envoy said that assessments which are carried out by the Afghan institutions have found that over 70 percent of ISIS fighters are coming from Pakistain’s tribal regions.

"Now the thing is, is it the new version of Taliban when the Taliban gets reintegrated, mainstreamed? Is this new terror group another instrument of Pak[istan] military policy? My hunch is yes. But I guess more research will have to be done both intelligence agencies and we have to look carefully at the origin, at the source of funding and the source of support," he explained.

Sinha confirmed that some Indian citizens had also joined ISIS, adding that the Afghan government, extradited some of these Death Eaters back to their home country.

Pakistain has always denied claims of supporting or sponsoring ISIS in Afghanistan.

Apple explores moving 15-30pc of production capacity from China: report
[DAWN] Apple Inc has asked its major suppliers to assess the cost implications of moving 15 per cent to 30pc of their production capacity from China to Southeast Asia as it prepares for a restructuring of its supply chain, according to a Nikkei Asian Review report on Wednesday.

Apple's request was a result of the extended Sino-United States trade dispute, but a trade resolution will not lead to a change in the company's decision, Nikkei said, citing multiple sources.

The iPhone maker has decided the risks of depending heavily on manufacturing in China are too great and even rising, it said.

Earlier this month, credit rating agency Fitch said it views Apple, Dell Technologies Inc and HP Inc as potential blacklist candidates if China blacklists US companies in retaliation for restrictions on Huawei.

Key iPhone assemblers Foxconn, Pegatron Corp, Wistron Corp, major MacBook maker Quanta Computer Inc, iPad maker Compal Electronics Inc, and AirPods makers Inventec Corp, Luxshare-ICT and Goertek have been asked to evaluate options outside of China, Nikkei reported.

Kenya court convicts three over Garissa university massacre
[Al Jazeera] A Kenyan court has found three men guilty of abetting al-Shabaab

fighters who carried out a university attack that killed 148 people, mostly students, four years ago.

The convicted face life sentences and will be sentenced on July 3, the first to face justice for the April 2, 2015 attack on Garissa University in northeast Kenya.

Judge Francis Andayi on Wednesday said the three - Kenyans Mohammed Ali Abikar, Hassan Aden Hassan and Rashid Charles Mberesero, a Tanzanian - "were members of the al-Shabaab terrorist group whose members carried out the attack".

Prosecutors had proven "beyond reasonable doubt" that they were involved in a conspiracy for "committing a terrorist act", he said.

Defence counsel Mbugua Mureithi said he would appeal.

The court in the capital, Nairobi, acquitted a fourth person, Sahal Diriye Hussein. A fifth suspect was acquitted earlier this year.

Al Jazeera's Catherine Soi, reporting from Nairobi, said many Kenyans were following the case closely.

"It is [a very sensitive matter because it is] the conclusion of the first major case involving a big terrorism incident and it is going to set a precedent for other cases that are still in court."

Khalilzad said that a comprehensive peace agreement is made up of four inter-connected parts: counter-terrorism assurances, troop withdrawal, intra-Afghan negotiations that lead to a political settlement; and a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire.

"This is a framework which the Taliban accept," Khalilzad said.

Khalilzad reiterated that "nothing is agreed until everything is agreed".

Bombing, shooting suspect nabbed in Thai south
[Bangkok Post] A suspect wanted on four arrest warrants, including one in connection with a truck bomb attack at a Big C Supercenter outlet in Pattani two years ago, has been arrested at a security checkpoint in Khok Pho district.

Isamael Musu a resident of Songkhla province, was detained after a car chase, police said. Driving a motorcycle on a local road, he turned back when he spotted a security checkpoint ahead. Isamael stopped abruptly about 100 meters before he reached the checkpoint, turned back and tried to speed away when he was captured.

Isamael allegedly admitted during interrogation that he was involved in the 2017 bombing at the Big C store, in which 61 people were injured and two suspects were previously given life imprisonment by a lower court.

Three other warrants issued for Isamael relate to a 2005 deadly shooting attack in Songkhla, a gun attack in 2006, also in Songkhla, and an arms cache raid in Satun.

Meanwhile, a couple were killed in a drive-by shooting before the two attackers fled with their motorcycle in Narathiwat province yesterday morning. Authorities feared the attackers might be planning to use the motorcycle to engineer a bomb.

The shooting occurred on Huruparoh-Chalabhorn Road in Rangae district, said police spokesman Woraphon Sukkaew. Police, soldiers and forensic officers who rushed to the scene found the bodies of two people lying on the road with bullet wounds. Paisarn Chungsakul had been hit in the chest and left rib while his wife Sumon Chungsakul was shot in the head and chest.

[DAWN] British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, in a joint presser held with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi in London on Wednesday, assured that "no extradition treaty signed by the UK would ever allow for politically motivated extradition".

According to a statement released by the Pakistain High Commission, Foreign Minister Qureshi and British Foreign Secretary Hunt held the 4th review of Pakistain-UK Enhanced Strategic Dialogue (ESD) at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, today.

"Both sides pledged to move forward with an early conclusion of the extradition treaty and readmission agreement," said the statement.
