Trump's 'Space Force' Motivated By Russian, Chinese Threats To Critical U.S. Orbital Systems
[In Military] If you thought President Trump was just musing when he publicly broached the subject of a U.S. "space force" in recent months, guess again. On Monday, he disclosed at a meeting of the National Space Council in Washington, D.C. that he is directing the establishment of a sixth military branch to address operations in space. And he didn’t mince words about what he had in mind:

"We are going to have a Space Force. An Air Force and a Space Force. Separate, but equal."

That is a stunning prospect, given the modest state of the current military space program. What we have, basically, is a collection of satellites orbiting the Earth that have almost no capacity to defend themselves, much less conduct offensive operations against the orbital assets of other countries. The satellites are crucial to terrestrial civil and military operations ‐ they consist mainly of communications, navigation, weather and surveillance satellites ‐ but none of them was conceived with an eye to waging war in space.

However, because the satellites have become integral to how America conducts military operations on Earth, Russia and China are developing ways of degrading or destroying U.S. satellites in wartime. If such attacks achieved their intended aims, they would thoroughly disrupt the U.S. military’s ability to conduct war anywhere. For instance, the U.S. Army figures each of its armored brigades contains over 2,000 pieces of equipment that rely on space assets to function. Kill the satellites, and the brigades are hobbled.

This isn’t just a military problem. Where would Google Maps be without access to global positioning data from at least four GPS satellites? It wouldn’t take much to suppress U.S. space systems to a point where damage rippled through the military, the economy, and much of Western civilization. The Russians and Chinese wouldn’t even have to destroy the satellites ‐ they might just jam the relatively weak signals originating from spacecraft many thousands of miles away, or compromise the functioning of ground control stations via cyber attacks.

So now you know why the Air Force, which leads military space operations for the Pentagon, is in a near panic over moves that Moscow and Beijing are making in space. It has undertaken a raft of initiatives aimed at building greater "resilience" ‐ its term ‐ into U.S. orbital constellations and launch plans. But it takes a long time to develop new space technology and architectures; the threat is advancing much faster than the remedial steps military planners say are needed.

Against that backdrop, the president’s announcement today is arguably timely, because the military space program may be approaching a moment of crisis. Mr. Trump made it clear in his remarks that he wants America to regain its lead in space across all relevant areas ‐ military, civil and commercial ‐ but it is in the military realm where great-power rivalry is most apparent. If the Pentagon doesn’t step up its game, the nation’s security will be significantly degraded.

Former U.S. Senate intelligence staffer asks court for Trump gag order
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A former Senate committee security official, charged with lying to the FBI about contacts with reporters, on Tuesday asked a court to issue a gag order prohibiting U.S. President Donald Trump and others from commenting on the case. In court filings, lawyers for James Wolfe, former security chief for the Senate Intelligence Committee, said comments by Trump after Wolfe's June 7 arrest were "highly prejudicial" and asked the court to issue an order prohibiting further public comments on the case by Trump and others.

In an indictment made public earlier this month, federal prosecutors accused Wolfe, who worked for the committee for nearly 30 years, of lying to the FBI when he claimed he had not been in contact with any reporter, and claimed he did not disclose information he had learned while working for the committee to two journalists. Wolfe is not specifically charged with leaking classified information.

Wolfe pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing before a federal magistrate judge last week.

In their motion seeking a gag order, Wolfe's lawyers said that the morning after Wolfe's arrest, Trump announced that the Justice Department had caught "a very important leaker." The lawyers say that at the time Trump made these statements, Wolfe had not yet been arraigned on the charges, let alone had them heard by a judge or jury.

The lawyers said that Trump's "prejudicial and improper statements" were widely reported by news media. They asked the judge in the case to issue an order "prohibiting further extrajudicial statements" by participants in the case, "including all relevant members of the Executive Branch, up to and including the President of the United States."

Air Force tests two turboprops as potential A-10 "replacements"
[ArsTechnica] The US Air Force has kicked off the procurement for another round of wing replacements for A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft, known affectionately by many as the Warthog. With new wings, the A-10s will help fill a gap left by the delayed volume delivery of F-35A fighters, which were intended to take over the A-10's close air support (CAS) role in "contested environments"‐places where enemy aircraft or modern air defenses would pose a threat to supporting aircraft. For now, the A-10 is being used largely in uncontested environments, where the greatest danger pilots face is small arms fire or possibly a Stinger-like man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) missile. But the Warthog is also being deployed to Eastern Europe as part of the NATO show of strength in response to Russia.

While the A-10 will keep flying through 2025 under current plans, Air Force leadership has perceived (or was perhaps convinced to see) a need for an aircraft that could take over the A-10's role in low-intensity and uncontested environments‐something relatively inexpensive and easy to maintain that could be flown from relatively unimproved airfields to conduct armed reconnaissance, interdiction, and close air support missions. The replacement would also double as advanced trainer aircraft for performing weapons qualifications and keeping pilots' flight-time numbers up.

So, last year the Air Force kicked off the Light Attack Experiment (OA-X), a four-aircraft competition to determine what would best fit that bill.

In the first phase, the Air Force tested four aircraft at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. Three were turboprop aircraft already in the inventory of some US allies in some form: AirTractor and L3's AT-802L Longsword; Sierra Nevada and Embraer's A-29 Super Tucano; and Textron and AirLand LLC's Beechcraft AT-6B Wolverine. The fourth, the only jet aircraft in the group, was Textron and AirLand's Scorpion. Now, the Air Force has begun a second phase and has cut the field to two: the Beechcraft AT-6B Wolverine and the Embraer A-29 Super Tucano.

#1  Right. Cut out the jet-powered Scorpion and then kill the program because the F-35 (in low-intensity and uncontested environments‐something relatively inexpensive and easy to maintain that could be flown from relatively unimproved airfields to conduct armed reconnaissance, interdiction, and close air support missions) makes it unnecessary.

#4  Does anyone, anyone?, think the F-35 is going to operate under 10,000 feet in CAS? 'Drop One and Gone...' like the F-117 used to operate, maybe, but CAS...?
They will need to develop a fleet of Next-Gen Armored Drones for that.

#5  ...Not one of these aircraft will survive for any useful amount of time over a battlefield against a peer adversary. They're really good against the Taliban and ISIS, but against people with radar,MANPADS, and even 60s era fighters they will be criminally useless. I truly hope somebody at USAF has the good sense to say so.

#6  What you've got going here is someone in five sided funny farm is trying to gin up the one thing that the A-10 lacks: procurement officers to fight for it. The A-10 is a done thing; there's no way for anyone to build a little empire in it's development.
It's the same logic that has them building a new road rather than fix the potholes in the old one. It comes down to graft.

Impeach Rod Rosenstein - How Congress can remind the unelected government it answers to the elected part
[WSJ] The long-awaited showdown between the Justice Department and Congress is finally here.

It started late Friday afternoon. While the rest of the country was parsing the just-released report on the FBI from the Justice Department’s inspector general, senior congressional leaders and selected committee chairmen quietly met with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein at a secure location in the basement of the Capitol.

At issue was Justice and FBI’s continuing defiance of congressional subpoenas. At the top of this list is the demand from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for documents about why and whether the FBI had an informant insinuating himself with Trump campaign officials before the Russia investigation officially started.

On Sunday on Fox News, Devin Nunes, the House Intel chairman, made clear his "patience has run out." The good news is that he and the other House chairmen at the Friday meeting‐Judiciary’s Bob Goodlatte and Oversight and Government Reform’s Trey Gowdy ‐were fully backed up in their demands by Speaker Paul Ryan. Mr. Ryan sent Messrs. Rosenstein and Wray an unambiguous message: Comply with Congress’s orders this week.

In a radio interview Monday morning with Milwaukee’s WISN, Mr. Ryan said "the new leadership at Justice and the FBI" has to decide whether it will be "part of the cleanup crew or the coverup team." If Justice and the FBI don’t comply within the timeline he laid out, he said, "we are going to have to take action."

Of all the actions Congress could take, a contempt finding or an impeachment is the most substantial. Unfortunately, recent Republican history with regard to the former doesn’t incline to optimism.

Lois Lerner, the former official at the heart of the IRS targeting of conservative groups, and Eric Holder, Barack Obama’s attorney general, were each held in contempt by Congress. But in both cases, Congress blinked when it came to imposing effective consequences.

In June 2012, Mr. Holder was held in contempt for withholding documents Congress wanted from the botched Fast and Furious operation that put firearms in the hands of Mexican drug cartels. It was the first time Congress had taken such a move against a sitting cabinet member. The first contempt resolution referred the attorney general for criminal charges, while a second launched a civil suit seeking a court to order Justice to turn over the documents.

The Obama Justice Department declined to act on the criminal referral‐as everyone knew it would. Though a judge would ultimately reject the administration’s claims of executive privilege, the ruling didn’t come until 2016. By that time Mr. Obama was wrapping up his second term, Mr. Holder had retired, and Fast and Furious had long since faded from the headlines.

But Congress has a third option for contempt: It can jail someone until he produces the testimony or documents sought. The advantage here is that Congress can do this all on its own. The last time Congress used contempt to jail was in 1934, when the Senate arrested, tried and then sentenced former Assistant Commerce Secretary William P. MacCracken Jr. to 10 days for allowing the removal and destruction of papers he’d been subpoenaed to produce.

You have to go back even further for the last time Congress impeached an executive-branch official. In 1876, Congress accused Secretary of War William Belknap of using his office for private gain. But if Sally Yates as deputy attorney general could cite the 1799 Logan Act, which no American has ever been convicted of violating, to intervene in the Mike Flynn case, surely Congress needn’t be shy about its Article I constitutional power to impeach.

The obstruction of Justice and the FBI appears rooted in the mistaken idea that they are somehow above the elected representatives of the American people. While Mr. Rosenstein has referred to congressional talk of impeaching him as "extortion," Mr. Wray, in his statement to a press conference outlining steps to fix the FBI, conspicuously made no mention of better cooperation with Congress.

An impeachment that removed either Mr. Rosenstein or Mr. Wray‐or a contempt finding that sent one of them to the congressional pokey for a spell‐could send a good message to federal bureaucrats inclined to be dismissive of congressional subpoenas. Then again, if either man thought he was in real and imminent danger of being impeached or held in contempt, Congress would likely find him instantly cooperative. Of course, that’s exactly why Congress has these powers‐not so much to punish but to encourage accommodation and respect.

But if Messrs. Rosenstein and Wray don’t accommodate, and if the stonewalling starts again, the House ought to impeach or jail until it gets satisfaction. Because a congressional power Congress is too timid to invoke is worse than a hollow threat: It becomes a sign that Congress need not be taken seriously.

#1  A close reading of the Constitution reveals its not about Checks and Balances. If Congress is of the mind, it can replace anyone in the government and cut the purse strings to any part of it. The problem, up till now, is that Congress prefers to 'pass the buck' and play the blame game on others.

‘Gaming disorder' is now an official mental health condition
[NY Post] For video game addicts, it might be time to hit the restart button.

Compulsive game playing is now a mental health condition, the World Health Organization announced Monday in the latest edition of its disease classification manual.

The WHO defines a "gaming disorder" as having three major characteristics that experts say are similar to substance use disorders and gambling disorder.

"One is that the gaming behavior takes precedence over other activities to the extent that other activities are taken to the periphery," Dr. Vladimir Poznyak, of the WHO’s Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, told CNN.

The other two are impaired control over gaming and continuation or an increase in gaming despite negative consequences like "disturbed sleep patterns, like diet problems, like a deficiency in the physical activity," Poznyak said.

Tucker Exposes 'Ruling Class' Behind Border Policy Uproar ‐ ‘Their Goal Is To Change Your Country Forever
[Daily Caller] Before playing a clip of examples, Carlson began the segment by calling the "spectacle of illegal immigrants separated from their children at the border" an "event in which the elites vie to see who can reach greater heights of rhetorical excess and self-righteous posturing" rather than a news story.

"So the same people who support the third term post-viability abortion for purposes of sex selection are now lecturing you about God and sin and the holiness of children. Feel chastened?" Carlson asked sardonically before launching into a few more examples, including Michael Hayden’s comparison of the border situation to Nazi Germany. (RELATED: DHS Sec Nielsen Defends Trump Administration’s Migrant Policies From ’Irresponsible And Unproductive’ Press)

"We could go on," The Daily Caller founder said. "There was so much more just like that. The rich and powerful reminding you just how virtuous they are. Do you think any of these people really care about family separation? If they did, they would be worried about the collapse of the American family, which is measurable and real, but they are not worried about that. In fact they welcome that collapse, because strong families are an impediments to their political power. That’s why they are always lecturing you about the patriarchy and the evil of the American family."

"This is one of those moments that tells you everything about our ruling class. They care far more about foreigners than their own people," said Carlson, pointing out that they also aren’t "interested in solutions to anything. They are great at yelling and at preening but not so much at fixing and building." (RELATED: Laura Ingraham Blasts Former RNC Chair Michael Steele For ’Concentration Camps’ Comment)

The Fox News host finished the segment by contrasting the views of those whose "goal is to change [our] country forever" with their actual lifestyles, which generally involve "no demographic change at all, just like they like it."

"Lots of people yelling at you on TV don’t even have children, so don’t for a second let them take the moral high ground," Carlson concluded. "Their goal is to change your country forever, and they are succeeding by the way. Since 2014, to name one example among many, at least half a million Central Americans who came here illegally have been released inside of our borders. Did anyone vote for that? Who’s going to pay for that? Not the people you’ve been watching on television today. Their kids go to private school if they have them. Their neighborhoods look like they did in 1960. No demographic change at all, just like they like it. There is no cost to them. The cost is entirely on you, but don’t complain or else they will call you Hitler."

Common Sense Gun Control? Florida Democrat Say She'll Ban AR-15s By Executive Order
[Townhall] Remember all the times the anti-gun Left talked about common sense gun control? They only wanted to pass so-called universal background checks, remember that? Well, that’s expanded to increasing the age to purchase any firearm to 21, limiting magazine sizes, and in some cases, banning certain firearms altogether in certain parts of the country. In Deerfield, Illinois, the local authorities banned AR-15s within the village limits; Deerfield is a Chicago suburb. For Deerfield gun owners, June 13 was doomsday, but a judge blessedly blocked the law from going into effect. The ordinance banned certain rifles, but also scores of handguns.

The only recourse was to either destroy them or turn them over to the police. The law carried a $250-$1,000/day noncompliance fee. Oregon could have a similar ballot initiative that forced law-abiding gun owners to register, surrender, destroy, or transfer their firearms out of the state. And now, a Florida Democrat is proposing banning AR-15s through decree.

Miami-Based Group Presses Trump for More Cuba Restrictions
[Free Beacon] Group praises administration’s decision to tap new head of Radio and TV Marti

A Miami-based group opposed to the Castro government praised President Trump's appointment of a new director of the U.S.-taxpayer-funded broadcasting operation directed at the Cuban people but wants the administration to impose additional restrictions on Havana.

Inspire America Foundation, whose advisory board contains several former U.S. ambassadors and prominent Cuban American scholars and executives, sent Trump a letter late last week on the one-year anniversary of his announced reversal of President Obama's détente with Cuba.

The group specifically mentioned the appointment earlier this month of Tomas Regalado as the director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB), which oversees the Radio and TV Marti stations that broadcast news and other programs to Cuba.

Inspire America Foundation in March ran ads asking Florida residents to call the White House to urge Trump to name a new director.

Another bloody weekend in Chicago: 9 dead, 45 wounded in gun violence
[USA Today] CHICAGO — At least nine people were killed and 45 others were wounded over the weekend in shootings, an ugly turn for the nation's third-largest city as it made progress stemming the murder rate in the first half of 2018.

In addition to the weekend’s fatal shootings, the city recorded a tenth homicide early Monday. A man, who police said was in his 30s, was killed by blunt force trauma on the city’s Southwest Side. Police said they found a weapon but declined to give details about it or the circumstances of the killing.

Investigators said many of the weekend's incidents were gang-related. The city historically sees a frustrating uptick in gun violence as the temperature warms. Chicago reached a high of 95 on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Gallup: Satisfaction with direction of country highest since 2005
[American Thinker] Satisfaction with the direction the country is going is higher today than it's been since 2005, according to the most recent Gallup survey.
Thirty-eight percent of Americans are satisfied with the way things are going in the United States today, similar to last month's 37% satisfaction rate but marking the numerical high since a 39% reading in September 2005.

The satisfaction rate, which Gallup has measured at least monthly since 2001, has now topped 35% three times this year ‐ a level reached only three times in the previous 12 years (once each in 2006, 2009 and 2016).

Satisfaction with the nation is now back to the historical average of 37% for this trend, which was first measured in 1979, but is far below the majority levels reached in the economic boom times of the mid-1980s and late 1990s.
Not surprisingly, Republicans are more ebullient about the direction of the country compared to Democrats. But it is striking that the largest increase in satisfaction occurred in rural America compared to big cities and small towns.

Much has been written in recent months about rural America's disappointment with Trump. These numbers seem to belie that reporting.

Coulter calls weeping immigrant children 'actors': 'These kids are being coached'
[Wash Times] Conservative author and pundit Ann Coulter claimed Sunday that the crying immigrant children shown across cable news channels are "child actors" who are "given scripts to read by liberals."

"I would also say one other thing, these child actors weeping and crying on all the other networks 24/7 right now: do not fall for it, Mr. President. I get very nervous about the president getting his news from TV," Ms. Coulter said on the set of Fox News’ "The Next Revolution."

"A New Yorker article ‐ the New Yorker is not a conservative publication ‐ they describe how these kids, these kids are being coached. They’re given scripts to read by liberals, according to the New Yorker. Don’t fall for the actor children," she added.

#10  This is the worst kind of emotional blackmail, the entire point is that the parents are making the conscious decision to use their kids as pawns to game their way into the country. They willingly cross between the points of entry, knowing they will be apprehended, then know the kids will be placed in separate facility while they undergo separate processing, know they will be reunited when the holding period ends, know they will get their kids back, remain with a court date to review their asylum plea, and know they are liars who never intend to appear. And the American people are being emotionally guilted into forcing the whole DACA, Illegal Alien votes before the midterm, and all this burying the Horowitz DoJ testimony proving what criminal behavior has been going on in the Obama DoJ. Proof that the media are now all-in for the Socialist Progressive Revolution

Lindsey Graham To DOJ IG: How Can We Trust Strzok's Findings On Hillary's Email Knowing That He Wanted Trump To Lose?
[HOT AIR] Graham is always good during Q&A at hearings (a rarity on both sides of the aisle) and this is no exception. A simple logical progression: If Strzok was the lead investigator on Emailgate and we know that he didn’t want Trump to be president and it’s universally understood that the FBI recommending that Hillary be indicted would have fatally weakened her candidacy...

...should we not assume that the outcome of Emailgate was gamed to protect her? Why should we give Strzok any benefit of the doubt in assuming that his investigative decisions were pure? We shouldn’t ‐ and the IG doesn’t really disagree. That’s the only slightly odd note here. Michael Horowitz went out of his way to say in last week’s report that Strzok might have prioritized Russiagate over Emailgate in the final month of the campaign for partisan reasons, not wanting to reopen the Pandora’s box of Clinton’s classified-material practices so soon before the vote. To the extent that there’s any dispute here between him and Graham, it’s the differing degrees to which they’re willing to assume that bias infected the probe. Horowitz thinks the decision not to charge Clinton and much of the investigation itself were vindicated, albeit with Strzok’s motives a troubling question mark. Graham thinks Strzok’s participation necessarily taints the whole process and leads us to doubt the results. The tree was poisoned by Strzok; its fruit must necessarily be poisonous too.

CBP Sector Chief: We Created This Problem By Not Enforcing The Law All Along
[Hot Air] "Do you think we’re all too emotional about this?" Gayle King asked the right question of Manuel Padilla, the man running the Customs and Border Patrol sector that accounts for the most illegal crossings and detentions, even if the CBS This Morning host didn’t get the answer she wanted.

Padilla patiently explained why he supports the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance policy, calling the flood of children separated from their parents a consequence of a refusal to enforce border laws in the past. That refusal set up a series of perverse incentives to smuggle children across the border, with the expected perverse outcomes ‐ including one MS-13 gang member who thought a one-year-old was a Get Out of Jail Free card:

As the Cartels Flood the Zone, The Migrant Crisis Is About More Than Just Kids
[The Federalists] Yesterday on Face the Nation, I responded to questions about the migrant separations from their children under the Trump Administration’s policy announced last month by trying to shift the focus to what drives these migrations in the first place ‐ something that can’t be addressed by a simple band-aid piece of legislation paving the way for more lax border requirements.

Here’s the video, and the transcript.

#1  A good start, but comes to an interesting conclusion:

There’s something going on here that brings to mind the ignorance of the U.S. military when it came to the early days of ISIS. It’s as if we refuse to acknowledge that the enemy reads the same media we do – that they can’t follow coverage of the issues, and understand how to manipulate the storylines to their advantage. That’s clearly what is going on here, and the Trump administration’s zero tolerance crackdown in response to this increased migration is playing into their hands.

Klingon Jailed on Child Porn Now Charged with Leaking TS Information to WikiLeaks
[The Hill] The Justice Department on Monday announced charges against a former CIA computer engineer for allegedly leaking top-secret information on U.S. government hacking tools to WikiLeaks.

In a 13-count superseding indictment, the agency charged Joshua Adam Schulte with illegally gathering classified national defense information and transmitting it to "an organization." WikiLeaks published the data in March of last year.

"Schulte utterly betrayed this nation and downright violated his victims," FBI official William Sweeney Jr. said in the release. "As an employee of the CIA, Schulte took an oath to protect this country, but he blatantly endangered it by the transmission of Classified Information."

Prosecutors identified Schulte as a suspect in the leak last month, but did not yet have sufficient evidence to bring charges.

The Justice Department did not name WikiLeaks in a press release about the indictment, but attorneys involved in a child pornography case involving Schulte revealed earlier this year that the 29-year-old was the focus of an investigation into WikiLeaks’ dispersal of classified CIA information.

Schulte is currently in custody on child pornography charges, and is suspected to be behind the leak of CIA information to WIkiLeaks known as "Vault 7," believed to be one of the largest unauthorized releases of CIA information in history.

The indictment also charges Schulte with lying to investigators, obstruction of justice, theft of government property and transmitting a harmful computer program.

#1  Remember when the CIA claimed Russian hacking due to finding "Russian" malware on infected systems? From Vault 7: CIA can customize the "fingerprints" hacks leave behind and make it look like someone else did it.

The evidence that we've seen for Russia hacking the DNC is this exact "Russian fingerprint" that we now know the CIA had the ability to implement in their hacks to hide their tracks. That fingerprint is now completely shoddy evidence. Not just because the CIA can put a Russian fingerprint on any hack, but because anyone else can too, because the CIA was so Clinton-esque with their security that all the "fingerprints" they collected were leaked to hackers and rogue agents.
So, essentially, any legitimate hacker nowadays could hack the DNC then put Russia's "fingerprint" on the hack. That fingerprint is evidence of absolutely nothing, thanks to these new leaks.

The CIA's Remote Devices Branch's UMBRAGE group collects and maintains a substantial library of attack techniques 'stolen' from malware produced in other states including the Russian Federation.

Pres. Trump calls for tariffs on additional $200B in Chinese goods as trade war ramps up
[The Hill] President Trump on Monday said he is directing his top trade official to identify $200 billion more worth of Chinese goods that will be subject to tariffs, escalating the ongoing trade dispute between the U.S. and China.

Trump said Monday that China's decision to retaliate in kind against his first batch of $50 billion in tariffs ‐ announced on Friday ‐ required a U.S. response to encourage China to change its unfair practices.

"China apparently has no intention of changing its unfair practices related to the acquisition of American intellectual property and technology," Trump said in a statement.

The president asked U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to find $200 billion worth of Chinese goods that would be hit with a 10 percent import tax.

Pat Caddell: IG Report on Hillary Case Contains Enough ‘Indictable Incidents' for Special Prosecutor
[Breitbart] NEW YORK ‐ The report released last week by the Justice Department’s Inspector General into the government’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server contains enough "indictable incidents" for a special prosecutor to investigate, contended pollster and veteran Democratic political operative Pat Caddell.

"This was dynamite," Caddell said of the IG’s 500-plus page report. "There are indictable incidents one after the other in there I believe. I am sure that any special prosecutor or the prosecutor in Utah has a lot to work with."

Caddell was speaking on this reporter’s talk radio program "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio," broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and NewsTalk 990 AM.

The pollster referred to numerous findings in the report, including more anti-Trump text messages between FBI officials Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, who were romantically involved and both worked on the Clinton case. Caddell called those messages a "smoking gun."

Anti-Trump text messages from other agents were also referenced and the report referred five FBI employees for further investigation.

Palestinian killed during alleged attempt to sabotage Gaza border barrier
[IsraelTimes] Army says five Gazooks hurt when 'security infrastructure' explodes during attempt to damage underground wall, denies claim they were shot

A Paleostinian man was killed and four others were maimed during an alleged attempt to damage what the army called security infrastructure near the Gazoo border, authorities said Monday.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, five Paleostinian men "tried to sabotage security infrastructure in the area near the barrier north of Gazoo Strip. The security infrastructure went kaboom! and as a result, a number of the bully boyz were maimed."

The Paleostinian Health Ministry said 24-year-old Sabri Abu Khader died an hour after arriving at a hospital, without specifying the cause of his death. The military denied Paleostinian reports that the men had been shot by Israeli troops.

The "barrier" is an underground wall that Israel is currently constructing around the Gazoo Strip, which is meant to thwart attack tunnels dug into Israeli territory from the coastal enclave.

The army would not immediately provide details on what was damaged in the incident, which occurred near the now-abandoned Karni Crossing in the northern Gazoo Strip ‐ a frequent site of riots and festivities between Paleostinians and Israeli troops.

The border incident occurred hours after a flareup between Israel and terror groups in the Gazoo Strip in the early hours of Monday.
Ynet adds:
Five Paleostinian gunnies were maimed and another, killed on Monday after an bomb planted along the Gazoo border by the IDF went kaboom! as they attempted to infiltrate into Israel.

The military has studded the security fence with explosive booby traps designed to deter in light of the upsurge in the number of attempted crossings of the border fence by Paleostinians and frequent sabotaging of the security apparatus.

Since the weekly Friday protests began in the Gazoo Strip under the banner of the "March of Return", dozens of attempts by gunnies have been made to damage the security fence and IDF equipment, much of which is needed for the ongoing work on a stronger security barrier being placed at the border.

Aware that the equipment and work crew constituted a target for the Paleostinians, the IDF decided to lay traps for the would-be infiltrators.

Cutting off Iran’s 'road to the sea' in Syria

The first of its kind strike, targeting Iraqi militias who have been crossing into Syria to aid the Assad regime since last year, sought to cut off Iran’s "road to the sea" by striking at a strategic area near the border town of Albu Kamal.

Turkish forces begin patrols in Syria's Manbij
[Al Jazeera] The Ottoman Turkish army has said its forces have begun patrols along the outskirts of the northern Syrian city of Manbij, in cooperation with US soldiers in the area.

The announcement on Monday came after Ottoman Turkish and US military officials agreed earlier this month to a plan for the withdrawal of Kurdish fighters considered "terrorists" by Ankara from the city.

The Ottoman Turkish army announced on Monday the launch of the operation between Manbij and an area it controls after one of its two cross-border military campaigns along with Syrian rebels in the past two years.

"As per the Manbij Roadmap and Safety Principles previously agreed upon, independent patrol activities by soldiers of Ottoman Turkish Armed Forces and US Armed Forces have begun on the line between (the Ottoman Turkish-controlled) area and Manbij," The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

said: "We had said that terror organizations will leave Manbij.

"We had also talked about patrol missions in Manbij," he added, ahead of the country's key presidential and parliamentary polls on Sunday.

Al Jazeera's Sinem Koseoglu, reporting from Istanbul, said the patrol operations took place near the Sajour River area.

"According to Ankara, 190 Ottoman Turkish troops are deployed there," Koseoglu said. "More troops will be deployed by July 5 to the Manbij area for joint patrolling operations."

Israel’s Netanyahu meets King Abdullah in Jordan for rare talks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held rare talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan during an unannounced visit to Amman on Monday, official sources in the two countries said.

The two leaders discussed the stalled grinding of the peace processor between Israel and the Paleostinians, the Jordanian royal court said in a statement.

Jordan and Egypt are the only Arab countries to have peace treaties with Israel, and Monday’s visit was Netanyahu’s first to the kingdom since 2014.

"The king and the prime minister discussed regional developments as well as advancing the grinding of the peace processor and bilateral relations," the Israeli leader’s front man Ofir Gendelman tweeted.

militia in Sanaa on Monday after he refused to join their fighting ranks.

Waleed Nabil, who was the son of the head of the Yemeni Organization for Combating Human Trafficking, was stopped at a Houthi checkpoint, according to local sources.

Nabil’s father said that according to eyewitnesses, a car with Houthi bully boyz chased his son’s car, and purposely crashed into it, then proceeded to shoot live ammunition at him. They then removed his dead body from the car and drove off.

"I got in touch with the Ansarullah office in Sanaa, and they confirmed that he was dead, but they refused to allow me to see his body or give more details," Nabil’s father said.

He added that he had received a phone call a few hours before Nabil’s death from an unknown person asking why his other son did not join the Houthi fighting fronts yet. He said when he replied, "What is our relationship with the war", he was accused of belonging to ISIS.

While the Houthis refuse to return Nabil’s body to his family, international human rights

organizations have called for the body to be returned, and social media users have condemned the Houthis for the incident.

is ready to endorse MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa ahead of the July 30 elections as prospects of him reconciling with his successor President Emmerson Mnangagwa continue to diminish, it has been revealed.

According to multiple sources, Mugabe recently sent emissaries to Chamisa seeking dialogue ahead of the polls and indicated that he was willing to back the leading opposition candidate because he was not happy with the treatment he was receiving from Mnangagwa's government.

Mugabe revealed in March that he would back the National Patriotic Front (NPF), a party formed by former Zanu PF members who were not happy with the coup that toppled the 94-year-old ruler in November last year.

The NPF has been negotiating a coalition with the MDC Alliance, but the talks suffered a severe blow last week after the Chamisa- led group allegedly reneged on its promise to give the Mugabe-linked party a significant number of constituencies.

"Mugabe sent two prominent holy mans with a message that he was willing to assist Chamisa gain an electoral advantage over Mnangagwa in the forthcoming elections. He says he is prepared to endorse Chamisa," said a source. "He is mainly concerned about the future of his family and says he believes Chamisa has the potential to become the next president."

Rapper XXXTentacion pronounced dead after being shot
[PAGESIX] Rapper XXXTentacion has been rubbed out.
Who?
The Broward County, Florida Sherriff’s Office confirmed the 20-year-old’s death on Monday evening, tweeting: "The adult male that was taken to the hospital has been pronounced dead ... The adult male victim has been confirmed as 20 year old Jahseh Onfroy aka rapper #XXXTentacion."
Apparently he was very talented. Ever know of anyone else who could grow asparagus on his head?
The rapper was shot outside a cycle of violence store in Deerfield Beach, Fla., just before 4.p.m. on Monday. He was transported to a local hospital.
"Doctor Quincy to the white courtesy phone!"
He had been leaving a cycle of violence dealership in a car when someone ran up and shot him, according to TMZ. The website also reports that a Louis Vuitton bag was stolen from the vehicle.
Came running up in his Sneakers of Violence and banged him, huh?
Around 4:30 p.m., the sherriff tweeted that cops were "currently working an incident regarding a shooting at 3671 N. Dixie Hwy., Deerfield Beach. PIO headed to scene. Dispatchers received a call of a shooting at 3:57 p.m. An adult male victim was transported to an area hospital."
"Hop up on the stretcher, sonny!"
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"I'm dead! Do I look alive?"
"Now that you mention it, no. Yer asparagus is comin' in good though."

The slain rapper had an extensive legal history. At the time of his death he was awaiting trial for domestic violence against a pregnant ex-girlfriend. He was also facing witness harassment and tampering charges.
Other than that, he was a pleasant enough fellow.
Despite the controversy, the rapper had developed a loyal following and his second album, "?,"
Pronounced "Huh?"
debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart in March.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US official: Israel behind mysterious Syria airstrike that killed dozens
[IsraelTimes] Washington shunts blame on Jerusalem for attack this week on pro-regime fighters near Iraqi border, after Damascus accuses US-led coalition

An Arclight airstrike that killed more than 50 pro-regime fighters in eastern Syria, most of them foreign, was carried out by Israel, not the United States, a US official told CNN Monday.

A US source also told AFP: "We have reasons to believe that it was an Israeli strike."

Damascus has accused the US-led coalition of carrying out the late night June 17 strike on al-Hari, a town near the Iraqi border controlled by regional militias fighting in the complex seven-year war on behalf of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
An Iraqi paramilitary force said 22 of its fighters were killed in the raid, and also accused the United States of carrying out the strike.

"US planes fired two guided missiles at a fixed position of Hashed al-Shaabi units on the border with Syria, killing 22 fighters and wounding 12," said the Iran-backed Hashed (Popular Mobilization Units).

The US has denied any coalition aircraft were in the area at the time of the strike.

Israel declined to comment, but a strike so far from its border would veer from most other strikes in Syria attributed to Israel, which have largely taken place closer to Syria’s borders with Israel and Leb.

The target, apparently Shiite Iraqi militia fighters loyal to Assad, would also mark a shift for Israel, which has previously only carried out airstrikes against Iran’s forces and its proxies, according to reports.

At a cabinet meeting on Sunday Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel was "taking action ‐ against efforts to establish a military presence by Iran and its proxies in Syria both close to the border and deep inside Syria. We will act against these efforts anywhere in Syria."

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based monitor of the conflict, said 52 pro-regime forces were killed in the air attack ‐ one of the deadliest in recent months.

"Among them are at least 30 Iraqi fighters and 16 Syrians, including soldiers and members of loyalist militias," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

The nationalities of the remaining six fighters were not immediately known, he said. There are Iraqi, Iranian, Lebanese and even Afghan fighters stationed in the area.

According to Abdel Rahman, some maimed fighters were treated in the nearby town of Albu Kamal while others traveled across the border to Iraq.

A military source in Deir Ezzor told AFP the warplanes hit "joint Iraqi-Syrian positions in al-Hari."

The attack was first reported by Syrian state media overnight, which cited a military source and accused the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terror group of carrying it out.

It said several people were killed and maimed, but did not give a specific number or their nationalities.

The coalition’s press office said it had heard reports that a strike in the area had killed and maimed members of a pro-regime Iraqi militia, but denied it was responsible.

"There have been no strikes by US or coalition forces in that area," it told AFP by email.

Iraqi military says no troops shelled by U.S.-Coalition in Syria

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Military has said troops on borders with Syria were not shelled by the U.S.-led Coalition troops, while other forces that were shelled were 1500 kilometers in the depth of Syria lands, adding that there were no communication with those forces.

In a statement, the Security Media Center said "security troops, including army, police and al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) are working on securing the Iraqi borders as well as the Syrian borders. Those forces were not exposed to either Arclight airstrikes or other strikes."

Earlier today, PMFs said up to 34 fighters of its members were killed and maimed Sunday after the U.S.-led international coalition targeted a military outpost in the Syrian city of al-Bu Kamal.

"We would like to confirm that were were not in communication with them and there was no coordination with security troops and the forces that were shelled," it added.

"As we feel sorry for the fall of victims in Syria and offer our condolences to families of the victims and injured, we conducted investigations on the authorities in question regarding the loss of Iraqi people and violating the Iraqi-Syrian illusory sovereignty," the statement said.

The center also indicated contacting the head of PMFs, who "clarified that he did not check the statement issued by the forces and that no PMFs were outside the Iraqi-Syrian borders."

Gunman shoots two at Walmart store before killed by armed bystander
[NY Daily News] TUMWATER, Wash. ‐ A gunman injured a teen and shot a man in a pair of carjacking attempts Sunday, before being killed by a bystander outside a Washington state Walmart store.

The incident at the Walmart in Tumwater happened about 5 p.m.

A witness told KOMO-TV that people were in line when they heard gunfire in the store. Witnesses told other media that they were inside the store and heard shots.

Tumwater Police Department spokeswoman Laura Wohl said it is unclear whether the gunman was ever inside the store or if shots were fired inside, The Olympian reported.

Wohl said a man was shot when the gunman tried to carjack his vehicle.

Two bystanders outside the store drew their weapons and at least one of them fatally shot the gunman, Wohl told the Olympian.

The carjacking victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital, she said.

Former Israeli minister arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran
[Joost] Gonen Segev was placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
on suspicion of committing offenses by assisting the enemy in a time of war and spying against the State of Israel and providing intelligence to the enemy.

Former government minister Gonen Segev has been charged with spying for Iran, Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency announced on Monday.

The former energy and infrastructure minister ‐ who also spent time in jail for drug smuggling, forgery and fraud ‐ was arrested on suspicion of assisting the enemy in a time of war, spying against the State of Israel and providing intelligence to the enemy.

An indictment was filed in the Jerusalem District Prosecutor’s Office on June 15 and approved by the attorney-general and the state attorney.

Segev is suspected of providing his Iranian handlers with intelligence related to, among other things, Israel’s energy industry, security sites, buildings and officials in Israeli political and security bodies.

According to the Shin Bet, Segev arrived for a visit in May to Equatorial Guinea, where he was refused entry to the country due to his criminal past.

Security authorities had gathered intelligence indicating that Segev was maintaining contacts with Iranian intelligence and assisting them in their activities against the State of Israel. The Israel Police subsequently requested his extradition to Israel, where he was immediately arrested upon his arrival for questioning by the Shin Bet.

The investigation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police found that Segev was recruited and acted as an agent on behalf of Iranian intelligence. In 2012, Segev first met with elements of the Iranian Embassy
...You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!...
in Nigeria, knowing they were from Iranian intelligence, and later traveled twice to Iran to meet with his handlers.

The investigation also found that Segev, who received a secret communications system to encrypt messages between himself and his Iranian handlers, met with them in various countries, in hotels and apartments used for clandestine Iranian activity.

In order to accomplish the tasks he received from his handlers, Segev maintained ties with Israeli citizens who are related to Israel’s security and foreign relations spheres. According to the Shin Bet, Segev tried to connect some of the Israelis to Iranian intelligence, all the while trying to fool them and present the Iranians as innocent businessmen.

At the request of the Shin Bet and the Israel Police, a gag order has been imposed on other details of the case.

Attorneys Eli Zohar and Moshe Mazor of Goldfarb Seligman, representing the former minister, said they have been accompanying him since his arrival in Israel about a month ago, confirming that an indictment against their client was recently filed.

"Most of the details are confidential at the request of the state. Even at this early stage, it is possible to say that the publication that was permitted makes things even more difficult, even though from the indictment ‐ whose full details remain confidential ‐ a different picture emerges."

Segev was born in Israel in 1956 and served as a military pilot in the Israeli Air Force in the 1970s, reaching the rank of captain. Following his service, he studied medicine at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and became a medical doctor.

He was elected to the Knesset in 1992 as part of the now-defunct, hawkish opposition Tzomet Party and was lured to join Yitzhak Rabin’s government as energy minister in 1994 before he quit politics.

He was arrested and convicted for drug smuggling and credit card fraud in 2005 after attempting to smuggle 32,000 ecstasy (MDMA) tablets from the Netherlands into Israel. He was released in 2007 after serving two years of a five-year sentence. Segev, who said he thought the tablets were M&Ms, moved to Nigeria where he practiced medicine after his license was revoked in Israel.

In 2016, Segev requested that Health Minister Ya’acov Litzman pardon him so he could move back to Israel and return to his practice as a doctor; his request was denied.
The Times of Israel adds:
If Segev is found guilty of handing information to Iran ‐ as alleged in an indictment revealed by the Shin Bet security agency Monday ‐ he could face either the death penalty
or up to life imprisonment, legal sources told The Times of Israel following the bombshell announcement.

Confident of a victory in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary races, they can be found in almost every square of the Istanbul metropolis, handing leaflets to passers-by and urging them to vote for the Justice and Development Party's (AK Party) 64-year-old leader.

"We will make Erdogan the executive president," volunteer Mehmet Kara says passionately, using the word "baskan", the term Turks use for presidents in the United States.

"He is the best thing that happened to this country and we are working to achieve that," adds the 25-year-old, his voice gradually drowned out by loud music as other banner-waving supporters nearby break into AK Party campaign songs.

Turkey's presidential office will be significantly empowered following Sunday's snap polls, which, for the first time in Ottoman Turkish history, are scheduled to take place on the same day as the general elections.

Erdogan, hoping to keep his seat with increased powers, has entered the race in the face of a depreciating lira, straining relations with the West and criticism from rights groups over, what they say, the deterioration of the human rights

The Mass Shooting Nobody Will March Against
[HOTAIR] One dead, 22 injured.

The Art All Night Trenton shooting isn’t of much interest to the majority of the press because it includes all the wrong sort of people for a hot story with a political hook. First of all, pretty much everyone involved with the shooting was black. There were rival gangs mixing it up at the festival. The cops even knew about it in advance because people were tipping them off about the gang presence. They had come and told the festival organizers they should shut down early because trouble was brewing. The organizers were in the process of doing that when the fireworks started.

The one shooter who is currently at room temperature, 33-year-old Tahaij Wells, had been out of prison on parole for all of four months for a previous murder. There were "multiple" gangs involved. The weapons of choice were almost entirely handguns so there was no chance to rail against "assault rifles." (One suspect did have an extended magazine capable of holding more rounds than state law allows.) We’re not seeing any demands for information on the weapons used. Why? I’d like to know how many of those gang members were in possession of handguns they legally purchased after passing a background check. But nobody in the national press seems to be interested in telling that story either.

on murder charges were nonetheless granted permission to remain and work in the U.S. under the Obama-era DACA amnesty, according to new government data released Monday.

Thirty-one "Dreamers" had rape charges on their records, nearly 500 had been accused of sex crimes, and more than 2,000 had been arrested for drunken driving ‐ yet were approved for DACA status.

All told, 53,000 people who have been approved for DACA ‐ 7 percent of the total ‐ had a criminal record when the government granted them status. Nearly 8,000 racked up criminal charges after they’d been approved, according to the data from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

DACA turned six years old on Friday and is back in the news as the House of Representatives begins to debate whether to grant a broad amnesty to Dreamers, and as courts across the country grapple with the legality of the 2012 program.

The new data will likely affect both the legislative and court action, since it gives some indications of the levels of screening, and waivers, the government is willing to offer for Dreamers who apply.

UAE’s Gargash says total control of Yemen’s Hodeidah a ‘matter of time’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Monday that it was "just a matter of time" before the complete liberation of Yemen's port city of Hodeidah.

Since Wednesday, the coalition has been fighting to retake Hodeidah from the militia.

"The Arab Coalition is militarily advancing with caution, to avoid civilians in Hodeidah," Gargash said.

"We have opened the road from Hodeidah to Sanaa for Houthi militias to exit without resistance," Gargash added.

The UN Security Council will hold a closed session on Monday to discuss developments in Yemen.

Martin Griffiths, the UN special envoy to Yemen, will attend the meeting to inform the council members of the details of his comprehensive plan for peace in Yemen.

A senior Taliban Überstürmbannführer informed regarding the growing anger among the Taliban leadership over the selfie pictures the group’s fighters have taken with the security forces, government officials, and ordinary civilians.

"Last night, an emergency meeting was called and all the commanders were informed and directed to take strict disciplinary action against all those Taliban members who visited citizens and took pictures with the Afghan authorities," a senior unnamed Taliban official told Rooters.

The source further added that Pakistain had wanted the Taliban to include U.S. and other foreign troops in the cease-fire, but the Taliban leader did not agree.

This comes as the Taliban in a statement said late on Sunday that the fighters of the group will continue to their attacks on Afghan and foreign forces as well as against the government.

The group has refrained from extending the ceasefire despite the Afghan government announced late on Sunday that the ceasefire with the Taliban has been extended for another ten days.

Two Islamic State militants killed while trying to infiltrate from Syria to Iraq

Anbar (Iraqinews.com) – Iraqi border guards killed on Monday two members of Islamic State (IS) group while attempting to infiltrate into Al-Qa’im district in Anbar coming from Syria, a security source was quoted as saying.

“Security forces managed to kill the two men as they were trying to sneak from Syrian territories into the desert of Al-Qa’im in western Anbar,” the source told Iraqi news website Basnews.

The source, who preferred to be unnamed, explained that the “troops intensified their security presence along the borderline with Syria starting from Ar-Rutbah town to Al-Qa’im district” to face any terrorist threat by Islamic State.

The terrorist IS group still has noticeable presence in different parts of Abu Kamal city and Hajin cities on the country’s borders with Syria, the source concluded.

Tens of Islamic State members killed as fighter jets shell Iraqi-Syrian borders

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) A security source from the mobilization forces leadership in Anbar has said that the border strip between Iraq and Syria is being shelled, killing tens of Islamic State members.

Speaking to Almaalomah website, the source said “the fighter jets began a shelling operation, which is the strongest, against Islamic State holdouts along the Iraqi-Syrian borders, west of Anbar, amid news on killing of tens of Islamic State members, including leaders and emirs from different nationalities.”

The shelling, according to the source, who preferred anonymity, “included different regions from the desert of Qaim, west of Anbar, reaching to Al-Bu Kamal in Syria and nearby regions.”

The airstrikes “left tens of Islamic State members killed, while many machine guns and vehicles as well as tunnels and weapon stashes were destroyed.”

group-linked holy warriors, including their leader, who helped lead a five-month siege in southern Marawi city last year.

Army Col. Romeo Brawner says the military received reports that at least five murderous Moslems were killed in Sunday's offensive but the deaths haven't been confirmed. The offensive sparked gunbattles between troops and the forces of Evil in mountainous areas of Lanao del Sur province. Hundreds of villagers fled from nearby towns as the offensive got underway.

Brawner said Monday the offensive targeted about 40 murderous Moslems led by Owayda Benito Marohombsar, who uses the nom de guerre Abu Dar. He was among those who led the attack on Marawi, but managed to escape before troops quelled the uprising in October.

David Petraeus Supports Trump Administration's Withdrawal from Iran Deal
[Breitbart] Former CIA Director and retired general David Petraeus said Sunday he supports President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Iran deal.

"Speaking at an event in Israel, the former top US spy said the move will lead to much greater pressure on Iran, not just in areas covered by the nuclear deal, but also the Islamic Republic’s missile program and Tehran’s malign activities across the Middle East," the Jerusalem Post reports.

A global deal to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions contains elements "of great concern," Petraeus warned in December 2016.

"There are some significant downsides that should cause us great concern," Petraeus told the Manama Dialogue security forum in Bahrain of the accord.

He pointed to the 10-15 year validity of the pact, and the fact that it gives Iran access to tens of billions of dollars in previously frozen assets.

On May 8, President Trump signed a presidential memorandum withdrawing from the 2015 agreement and announced plans to reinstall sanctions on the Iranian regime.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran executes Sufi man over deadly Tehran bus-ramming
[Al Jazeera] A member of a Sufi order has been hanged in Iran over a bus-ramming incident that killed three coppers and two security force members during protests in February in Tehran.

The man, identified by the Tasnim news agency as Mohammad Salas, received the death sentence in March and was executed at a "correction facility" on Monday.

Salas is a member of the Gonabadi Dervish group, which has been protesting in the Iranian capital against alleged religious repression by the government, and the reported threat of arrest of its leader, the 90-year-old Noor Ali Tabandeh.

Salas reportedly drove the bus that ran over the officers, as they tried to contain the protests in the Pasdaran district of Tehran.

At least 30 other coppers were maimed in the incident, according to Tasnim.

The incident in February was partly captured on video and circulated widely online.

The death sentence was criticised on social media in recent days, with many saying the 51-year-old had not received a fair trial.

In a statement on Monday, Amnesia Amnesty International said it was "shocked and saddened" at the news of Salas' execution.

Media reports said that Salas had filed a confession after his arrest, but he later retracted it and said that he had confessed under duress.

In an audio statement released by Salas' lawyer, Salas was quoted as saying, "I cannot even kill an ant," according to a report by the group, Iran Human Rights Monitor.

The Center for Human Rights in Iran also quoted Salas as saying that his "conscience is clear".

Witnesses apparently said that someone else was behind the wheel of the bus.

An appeal filed by Salas' lawyer was rejected.

At least 300 members of the Gonabadi Dervish group were also enjugged
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
at the protests.

In January, at least 10 members of the group were imprisoned in southern Fars province. Other followers are reportedly held at Tehran's Evin Prison.

The Gonabadi Dervish followers are Shia Moslems, like the majority of Iranians, but they follow a mystical path and do not obey the country's official religious leaders.

This has created tensions between the group and Iran's conservative leadership.

According to the Center for Human Rights in Iran, the Sufi Moslems are viewed as a threat to mainstream Shia Islam in the country, and its religious establishment frowns upon conversions.

For centuries, however, Iran has allowed other major religions - such as Christianity, Judaism and Buddhism - to exist in the country.

DHS Chief Hits Back at 'Offensive' Questions at WH Briefing
[Townhall] The hottest topic at Monday's White House press briefing was, expectedly, the Trump administration's policy of separating children from parents who are attempting to enter the country illegally. DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen took the press's pointed questions, and she did not hide her emotions when answering them.

She denied accounts that the policy amounted to "child abuse" or was comparable to the internment of Japanese Americans during World War Two.

She was especially offended by the following exchange.
"Are you intending for parents to be separated from their children?" one reporter asked. "Are you intending to send a message?"

"I find that offensive," Nielsen shot back. "Why would I ever create a policy that purposely does that?"

At an earlier event Monday, Nielsen said the White House would not apologize for the policy.
"To a select few in the media, Congress and the advocacy community, I'd like to start with a message for you," she said. "This Department will not longer stand by and watch you attack law enforcement for enforcing the laws passed by Congress. We will not apologize for the job we do."

If Congress closes the loopholes that allows adult migrants to take advantage of the undocumented children's policy, then the families will be able to stay together throughout the proceedings, she agreed at the briefing.

That was the message from White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders too, who followed Nielsen to the podium. The president, she said, is trying to work with Congress to find a solution.

If you walk into a bank with your minor daughter, hold it up (break the law), and are subsequently arrested, you go to jail. Your daughter goes to an Office of Children and Family Services, not jail. What about this process does the media and this petulant WH press corps not understand ?

Can you say moral relativism? Around here, 75 mph isn't considered all that bad. At most the driver would have to pay a fine. But if the driver is found to be under the influence that is another matter altogether. The parent would go to jail and the cops would be left with the task of figuring out what to do with the child. Hopefully the drunkard's spouse or some other close relative would be available but that is not always the case.

But the question you raise is how should we compare a minor traffic violation to the invasion of a foreign country. You can take Merkel's position that all borders should be left wide open. But the people of this country elected Donald Trump because we don't believe that. We don't want to speak Spanish, we don't want to bow down to Mecca and we don't want foreigners telling us we shouldn't defend our country.

India-Pakistan
ISIS festering amid tribalism, sectarianism in Pakistan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] ISIS has largely been removed from its territorial claims in both Iraq and Syria, but that does not mean that it has been completely eradicated.

There are many groups throughout the Moslem world who have previously pledged allegiance to the "caliphate" and which continue to operate under that label. And there are, of course, many ISIS fighters who have escaped the Levant before the collapse of the organization there and have moved to other theatres.

In both cases, the losses the group has suffered in the Levant will not have dampened their radicalism, or their violence. Quite the opposite: in order to remain relevant in the global militancy pecking order, those affiliated with the group will feel compelled to continue and, if possible, escalate the levels of brutality typical of their brand.

And there remain plenty of areas in and around the Moslem world where that brand of political violence will flourish.

Libya remains a broken country with a viable ISIS enclave thriving in between the territory of the two belligerent sides of that civil war, the Philippines’s Moslem areas have seen plenty of recruits in a political climate which normalises large scale, arbitrary violence for political purposes.

And of course, as always, the volatile cocktail of tribalism, sectarianism and Islamism that is Pakistain is also proving fertile ground.

Attack on Christians
In recent news, ISIS in Pakistain has grabbed credit for attacks on Christians. Of course the targeting of religious minorities such as Pakistain’s Christians and Shiite Moslems has been par for the course for many of the country’s other holy warrior Sunni groups.

But even in the Pak swamp of radicalism and violence where the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
and many others like them fester freely, there is genuine concern over the rising influence of ISIS. ISIS affiliates in the country could number anywhere between hundreds and a few thousands recruits, and they are beginning to stamp their influence in the wider ecosystem of Islamism.

The concern is not necessarily that these relatively small numbers of committed snuffies will become the dominant group in the country, but rather that their presence and example will compel other more established groups in the country such as the Pak Taliban, groups with established infrastructure and clearly defined political aims and means, to ratchet up their activities as well as the levels of violence in order to continue to dominate the discourse.

This could set off something like an "arms race" between the established groups as each vies for a greater share of the attention economy in Pakistain’s poisonous political environment, in the hope of radicalizing and recruiting new fighters to their respective causes. And it is indeed worth noting that some of the more extreme elements of the Taliban are already on record welcoming these developments.

Political violence
For all the Islamist poison in Pakistain’s political discourse it is worth noting that political violence has been on the decline in the past three years after the military crackdown on radical groups in the wake of the 2014 Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
school massacre.

Even as politicians continue to cynically exploit ethnic and sectarian tensions for personal gain, there has been an broader understanding that ostentatious displays of violence will attract the attention of country’s notorious military and intelligence agencies, along with their typically uncompromising manner of crackdowns.

This has kept the levels of violence in check, and the volatile tussle for power between the various holy warrior groups had to be fought by other means ‐ for example by disrupting the country’s infrastructure during organised political protests.

The increasing presence of ISIS, who have no regard for such subtleties, threatens to upend this recently established, delicate power play between the established players and plunge the country once again into an orgy of violence.

And it is not yet obvious whether the military and the intelligence agencies are either willing or able to snuff this trend out before it becomes entrenched.

Houthis trying to cover losses through false propaganda
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Spokesman for the Coalition fighting to support legitimacy in Yemen, Col. Turki al-Malki, said on Monday that the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias are trying to cover their losses through false propaganda, especially in connection with the battle to liberate Hodeidah city, stressing that the militias received heavy blows on the fronts of Saada and Hodeidah.

During a presser on Monday that the UN envoy to Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
Martin Griffiths has been trying to persuade the Houthis to hand over the port of Hodeidah but that the bully boyz have ignored the request.

The front man stressed that the "the liberation of the city of Hodeidah and its harbor is an inherent right of the Yemeni government based on international laws and in accordance with resolution 2216," adding that the liberation of Hodeidah will lead to the "cutting off Iranian hands", which will stop the smuggling of Iranian weapons to the Houthis.

Malki revealed that the Yemeni armed forces were "on the verge of regaining full control over Hodeidah airport.

The coalition also confirmed that humanitarian aid continues to enter Hodeidah and all areas despite the hostilities while adding that they continues to give maritime, land and air permits for aid to enter Yemen.

China-Japan-Koreas
Two Koreas will compete under one flag at Asian Games
[NYPOST] North and South Korea will march under a unified flag in the Asian Games and will play a basketball game next month as the relationship between the two countries continues to thaw, according to a report on Monday.

Athletes from the two rivals will compete as one team and march together under a "Korea" flag during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Games in Indonesia from mid-August to early September ‐ just as they did at the Winter Olympic Games in Seoul, Rooters reported,

They will also play a basketball game in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, on July 4, which marks the anniversary of an agreement signed by the two countries in 1972 establishing the terms of unification.

Another hoops game is expected to be played in Seoul later in the year.

"We agreed to promote sports cooperation and exchanges including joint training and matches," the two Koreas said in a statement.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel carries out fresh airstrike after Gazans launch fire balloons
[IsraelTimes] Army says it struck Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", position in response to arson attacks; local government notes fewer fires in area, following air force's overnight raids on terror group's facilities

An Israeli aircraft bombed a Hamas position in the southern Gazoo Strip on Monday night, after a group of Paleostinians launched incendiary balloons at southern Israel, the army said.

The attack came after the Israeli Air Force conducted a series of Arclight airstrikes inside the coastal enclave, aimed at deterring Paleostinian terror groups from continuing to launch incendiary and explosive kites and balloons at Israel.

Though it did not stop them completely, the military’s aerial bombardments appeared to have some effect on the number of airborne devices launched from the Gazoo Strip.

Though fires were reported in the Eshkol and Sha’ar Hanegev regions ‐ the two areas most affected by the arson attacks ‐ it appeared to be at a lower level than in recent days.

"Today, there was a decrease in the amount of fires in the region," said a spokesperson for the Eshkol region.

Six fires were reported in the area on Monday, mostly from blazes on Sunday that were never properly extinguished, the Eshkol official said.

"All of the fires were put out quickly," she said.

In Sha’ar Hanegev, one fire was reported near Kibbutz Or Haner, and firefighters had not brought it under control, as of Monday night, but a spokesperson for the region said there was "no threat to the nearby communities."

Israeli aircraft struck a number of targets in the Gazoo Strip early Monday morning in response to numerous arson attacks by Paleostinians the day before, the military said. Minutes later, Paleostinians fired three rockets at southern Israel from the coastal enclave.

The army said two of the rockets fell inside Israel, while the third appeared to fall short of the border. There were no reports of injuries on either side of the border.

The rockets were the first to be fired at Israel in over two weeks, breaking a tacit ceasefire that has largely held since a day-long flareup in late May.

Before the rocket attack, Israeli fighter jets carried out strikes on three military compounds and one weapons manufacturing plant in northern Gazoo belonging to the Hamas terror group, which rules the Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said.

The army said it hit a total of nine targets spread out between the three Hamas facilities, in response to flammable and explosive-laden kites and balloons launched from Gazoo that have wreaked havoc in Israel over the past several weeks.

"The attack was carried out in response to the launching of incendiary and explosive kites and balloons at Israeli territory. This is terrorist activity that endangers the lives of southern residents and has damaged large amounts of land," the military said.

The army warned that it had the "intelligence knowledge and operational capability" necessary to conduct further strikes in Gazoo if the balloon and kite attacks did not stop.

The airstrikes on Hamas facilities appeared to be a new tactic by the military to deter Paleostinians from flying the airborne arson devices into Israel, after its previous attempts to do so by firing warning shots at kite-flyers failed to yield results.

The Paleostinian rocket fire appeared to come in response to the airstrikes.

The projectiles shot at Israel triggered sirens in the Hof Ashkelon region and the city of Ashkelon’s industrial area, sending thousands of Israelis into bomb shelters. The alarms were triggered in two waves, first at 4:40 a.m. and then again shortly after 5 a.m.

The Iron Dome missile defense system did not appear to have been activated, indicating the two incoming rockets that cleared the border struck open fields, where there was no risk to life and thus no need to intercept them.

Israel’s airstrikes in the Strip and the subsequent Paleostinian rocket fire followed a day of airborne arson attacks by Gazooks, who launched dozens of balloons laden with incendiary devices and explosives at southern Israel, sparking at least 20 fires, some of them large.

Billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong Takes over L.A. Times, Declares War on ‘Fake News’
[BREITBART] Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, a billionaire who earned his fortune in the biotech field, will officially take full control of the Los Angeles Times and San Diego Union-Tribune on Monday when the $500 million sale is completed and Soon-Shiong becomes executive chairman of the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, News Group.

The deal, which was reported in February, will return the two historic publications back to local ownership after what the Times itself described on Saturday as "18 turbulent years under reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
control" (i.e. the Chicago-based Tribune Media Company).

Soon-Shiong also owns a 4.5% stake in the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. He also reportedly has a passion for seeing medical advancements, particularly in the area of cancer.

Soon-Shiong, 65, was born in South Africa and educated at the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School, at the time one of the finest medical schools in the world. He reportedly amassed his $7.5 billion fortune by building and then selling two biopharmaceutical companies, and has since then "been on a mission to personalize cancer treatment and develop vaccinations for deadly diseases."

Soon-Shiong penned a letter to the publications’ readers on Sunday in which he wrote that he is "honored and privileged to assume the mantle of these storied institutions of democracy. To me, this is the culmination of an immigrant’s American Dream."

He added:

I believe that fake news is the cancer of our times and social media the vehicles for metastasis. Institutions like The Times and the Union-Tribune are more vital than ever. They must be bastions of editorial integrity and independence if they are to protect our democracy and provide an antidote to disinformation. We will continue our papers’ dedication to truth, integrity, journalistic independence, and storytelling that engages, informs, educates and inspires with care and compassion.

Dr. Soon-Shiong’s entire letter to the public can be read here.

The Koch brothers were once said to be interested in purchasing the Times but were opposed by protests.

Bus hostess murdered in Faisalabad for rejecting marriage proposal
[DAWN] A man who allegedly shot and killed a woman in Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
on June 9 for refusing a marriage proposal was remanded into police custody for four days.

Bus hostess Mahwish Arshad was shot and killed by Umer Daraz, a security guard working for the same company as her, allegedly for repeatedly refusing his marriage proposal.

Mahwish Arshad was shot and killed by Umer Daraz for repeatedly refusing his marriage proposal.
Police, in a first investigation report registered in the woman's father's name, said that Umer Daraz used to earlier work with 19-year-old Mahwish in a different travel company. According to the FIR, Umer Daraz pressured the bus hostess to marry him and the latter repeatedly refused the offer.

A video of Mahwish and Umer Daraz exchanging heated words in which the latter is seen forcefully gripping her wrists and trying to attack her during a bus ride made rounds on social media after the girl was shot and killed later that night.

In the video, Umer Daraz can be heard threatening Mahwish and saying, "You'll see what I would do when you get to the [bus] terminal."

A CCTV clip attached to the footage shows Mahwish climbing the steps of a building at what seems to be a deserted bus terminal when a man yanks her arm to turn her around.

Mahwish is seen trying to free herself from his clutches before she is shot and left bleeding at the steps.

According to the FIR, Mahwish's assailant expeditiously departed at a goodly pace and she lost her life while undergoing treatment at a local hospital after she was shifted there.

POTUS Warns U.S. Could Follow Path of Germany on Immigration
[Roll Call] President Donald Trump on Monday appeared to defend his administration’s policy of separating migrant families by warning that Germany’s and Europe’s immigration issues could be replicated here.

He used several tweets Monday morning to blast not only German and European immigration laws, but also Democratic lawmakers. The GOP president claimed anew that the opposition party is withholding the votes needed to pass a sweeping immigration overhaul measure that would address a list of unresolved matters.

Trump criticized Democrats for refusing to "give us the votes to fix the world’s worst immigration laws" as one of his deputy press secretaries, Hogan Gidley, was on the White House’s North Lawn calling on Democratic members to meet with Trump to come up with a broad immigration bill.

Haftar forces launch push against militia in oil crescent
[Al Jazeera] The self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) loyal to renegade general Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
have mobilised to drive out rival groups from the country's northeastern oil crescent, according to security forces in Ajdabiya.

Haftar's LNA announced on Sunday a "major offensive" after his forces lost control on Thursday of the Ras Lanuf and al-Sidra oil terminals - located about 650km east of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
- to gangs that attacked the area.

The LNA's air force on Sunday also told residents in the oil crescent to stay away from "areas where the enemy gathers, munition stores and sites with military vehicles".

"Fighter [planes] are carrying out raids against terrorist positions and gatherings in the operational military zone stretching from Ras Lanuf to the edge of the city of Sirte," the air force said on its Facebook page.

The LNA controls most of eastern Libya and is opposed to an internationally recognised government based in Tripoli, which has itself condemned Thursday's militia attacks.

Ibrahim Jadhran, who heads the Petroleum Facilities Guard, said in a video on Thursday that he had formed an alliance to retake oil terminals seized by Haftar's forces in September 2016.

Jadhran controlled the terminals for years following the 2011 overthrow and killing of long-time Libyan ruler Muammar Qadaffy
...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later...
, but were eventually forced out by the LNA.

Senate: Two-Tiered Justice System in FBI Clinton/Trump Investigations
[Sara Carter] Chairman Charles Grassley (R-IA) of the Senate Judiciary Committee outlined the stark double standard at Monday’s much anticipated hearing on the FBI’s handling of its investigations into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server for government business and the bureau’s highly partisan investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and President Donald Trump’s campaign.

Grassley stated "justice should be blind" but contended that it was not in the case in the FBI’s handling of the Clinton and Trump investigations. He noted that based on the evidence collected in the 568-page report released by Inspector General Michael Horowitz last week, along with information and evidence collected by numerous Congressional committees, evidence of bias against Trump was insurmountable.

Islamic State executes six hostages, including paramilitary fighters, in Mosul

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – A group of Islamic State militants executed on Monday six people, including two pro-government fighters, a few hours after kidnapping them in Mosul city.

“IS militants wearing Iraqi military uniforms set up a fake checkpoint on the road linking between Ein el-Azab village in Al-Shirqat district and al-Hadar Island in southern Mosul,” Captain Abdel Khaleq al-Eifan from the Iraqi rapid response forces told Turkey’s news agency Anadolu.

The IS terrorists managed to kidnap six people, including four workers and two members of Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) after examining their IDs, Captain al-Eifan said.

The bodies of the six people were found at a desert area a few hours after the kidnapping, he said, adding that the victims were found shackled and shot in their heads and backs, meaning that they were executed by the IS militants.

India to resume strikes on militants in held Kashmir
[DAWN] India said on Sunday it was resuming military operations against rebels in held Kashmire after a rare 30-day suspension for Ramazan expired, with a top minister blaming holy warrior attacks.

Army operations were halted on May 16 at the start of the fasting month, despite a months-long escalation of violence in the Moslem-majority Himalayan region.

Troops would stop the pursuit of turbans and door-to-door house searches but would still retaliate if attacked, officials said at the time.

US imports push Japan into trade deficit in May
[DAWN] Imports of US aircraft helped push Japan to a trade deficit in May, official data showed on Monday, but experts said it was a temporary effect not linked to ongoing trade tensions.

Japan's imports rose 14.0 per cent in May from a year earlier, according to finance ministry data.

Exports also enjoyed an 8.0 percent rise but the overall effect was a net deficit of 578.3 billion yen ($5 billion). The deficit was nearly three times the size of the figure last year and came after two consecutive months of surplus.

"The deficit came from a surge in imports from the United States," said Takeshi Minami, chief economist at the Norinchukin Research Institute, noting a quadrupling of Japan's purchases of US aircraft.

In the statement on Sunday, the Taliban repeated their preconditions for peace talks, including that they would only negotiate directly with the US and that foreign forces should leave Afghanistan.

"Our fighters will now resume their operations across the country against the foreign invaders and their internal puppets," Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid told Al Jazeera.

In an unexpected move, Ghani on June 5 announced an unconditional ceasefire with the Taliban until June 20, coinciding with the end of Ramadan.

On June 9, the Taliban announced that their fighters would stop attacking Afghan cops for the three days of Eid for the first time in the nearly 17-year conflict.

Hundreds of soldiers and coppers have been killed since the Taliban launched their spring offensive in April this year in a bid to control large swaths of the country.
